Hi guys,
I know that the "screen filter" app exists,
but would anyone be willing to code an app that
basically inverts ALL colors (or white to a dark grey) on screen ?
I don't know if it's supported at all by the android APIs but perhaps someone has an idea how to do it
this would save HUGE AMOUNTS of energy when reading
e.g. PDF files with only text in them
or browsing on lots of sites with also only have a white background and (little) dark text
this is especially applicable to those devices using AMOLED displays such as the Samsung Galaxy S (I own one)
If you'd be willing to code it for the community - that would be great
if you'd need some donation - that will be OK, too
I'm sure others would join, too, since that app really would help to get a much longer battery runtime in those usage cases
Many thanks in advance
I'm not sure
but I think I found what I was looking for:
IDEAL Magnifier
nope - only for camera-input
it's getting close
anyone knows of an app that can invert the screen's content ?
otherwise it should be still correctly place in "development" subforum
edit:

edit2:
getting the browser from cyanogenmod into ROMs also would be quite helpful
http://www.drakaz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=468
*bump*
seriously - no one has interest in this kind of app ?
*bump*
I'm very interested in this thread. If only someone could shed some light on the topic. Also, would it be possible to port cyanogenmod browser to other roms?
*bump*

@boarder.2k9, ickyboo:
I think the problem is - that this is quite a very interesting topic (much potential)
and perhaps devs also might be willing to do it
but they are hesitant because it's some more work than the usual "hey - this music app doesn't include these features - let's code a new one"
a bounty (called "donation" in the post above) might make it (especially the whole-screen invert app) much more attractive to code I believe
if that's possible from Android's side, that is
it might be the case that it'll only work with CyanogenMod due to some pretty deep changes to the system
I'm not really coding much - I'm more the kind of linux-distro kernel patchset guy so I have no clear idea what requirements might be needed for this "stunt"

Yah, some1 should sort this out....
Bump, ouch my knee.

Bump! As I just posted on the thread in the general Android forum, :
I very much want this, too! Not only would it be great for night time viewing and amoled power savings, but it would also provide some wear leveling/un-burn-in effects for the notification bar, keyboards, etc.! Say you use the inverted mode 50% of the time, it would completely counter burn-in from the other 50%.
Please, someone, do it and I'll pay handsomely. I'll pitch in $20 to a bounty, anyways.
It should be almost as easy as CyanogenMod's render effects or Chainfire 3D's night mode. If they can take each pixel's intended color, calculate that minus green and blue, and output the result, they should be able to take the color, calculate the inverse, and output that, instead. I'm not a programmer, though, so I may be off base.
I don't have a Galaxy S I9000, but I'm also looking for this. I don't know if Quick Invert is compatible with this device (it isn't with My Nexus S), but the developer shares some ideas for a more universal implementation here.

Unfortunately, CF.lumen doesn't work for me.
Maybe I will do that. But if I do, it'll require 2 things. Root and Xposed.

Hi there, back on Windows mobile there used to be an app where you could set the custom auto brightness levels for different environments e.g. you place the phone in a dark room and set how bright you'd like it and the same with outside on a sunny day. This way the user could define exactly how dark/bright the backlight would shine. I find the autobrightness currently ok, but would be great to customize it exactly how I like.
The app on Windows mobile was called Lumos. With it you can even select custom brightnesses per application, so have it displayin at a brighter level when using the Gallery looking at pics etc. Would be great if this could be ported or a similar app be developed here!
Lumos link
Thanks

Strange that nobody made such an app! I loved Lumos!
Sounds like a great idea, that would definitely be something i'd be interested in having......
Just asked in the original thread if they could ever port it to our device. Hopefully either they can or a clever Android dev could create something similar!

Hope somebody makes that, someday! ;-)

Here in the north it's kinda dark over half of the year so you never need the full brightness anyway
Any news ? sounds like a good idea

Screenshot ER
- ER is for emergency room, because it works where nothing else does
Now working on literally almost all rooted devices! If it doesn't, let me know and ill fix it ASAP.
Features include:
- Shake, delay or notification icon methods
- Thumbnail or fullscreen previews
- Rotate images
- Start on boot
- JPEG or PNG
- Share menu integration for Picasa, Dropbox or what ever you have installed
- Choose save folder
- Shake sensitivity adjustment
- Stealthy notification icon

The app will always be available for free from XDA, it is our gift to the community.
A beta is currently being tested by everyone in the office, and the app itself will be posted here in the next few hours, after we put some basic icons together and make sure it actually works
Stay tuned, all your screen capture needs will be met within a few hours!

That sounds exciting! The other workaround is pretty tedious
Im glad this is peaking at least someone's interest. The app is almost ready - another 20 minutes and ill post it in the header!
OK I installed it, how do i take a screenshot now??
It works!
Downloaded to Dropbox, installed, enabled, and shaken
I got wonderful screenshots - Hooray!
I would like to add a few suggestions:
Maybe add a widget that lists the screenshots and takes you to the folder when clickin on it
Is it possible to add an icon to the notification bar that can be used to take a screenshot upon tapping (similar to Task killer)? Shaking is working fine but I never know if it works since the notification takes a few seconds to appear.
Sometimes the screenshot contains the notification that the app has been granted superuser rights. Maybe a timing issue?
Thanks for the great app though! looking forward to more options!
Youre quite right, its pretty barebones right now. Written in just 2 days, using a totally new method (as far as i know at least). By the way, it should work on all rooted devices, 1.6+.
We have another project to push out on friday, but ill definitely look into adding more better stuff over the weekend, thanks for the suggestions!
And im aware of the delay, the code needs to be cleaned up a little. Ill look into that as well.
Nice! Thank you! This is great!
lol. And just to think that some people in the dev forum were accusing you of not being a developer, and those same people will probably be using your app a lot.
[edit]
One thing that should be changed. Under the 'Enable' tab, it says "Screenshot ER does not active" it should say "Screenshot ER is not active".

I disagree. I like "does not active" better. It may not be grammatically correct, but it makes me smile when I read it.

I've downloaded it but haven't installs just yet but, this sounds like it could be remedied by simply changing the notification settings in Superuser. Thats how I handle it when using Drocap 2.
Edit: Ok, so I've installed and used it for a couple of screeners. Works flawlessly on my CM7 DInc. Even with ER's toast notifications enabled, I had no problem with them being captured in the shot. Thanks so much dev. On a side note, plus one on the notification trigger option. If possible in a future release, it would be a great addition.

Hey guys! I recently competed in Round II of the "Last Call for Google IO" challenge for Android which had us develop an Android version of the HTML5 countdown clock that is on the Google IO Homepage:
http://www.google.com/events/io/2011/
I threw it on my G-Tab when I was done developing it and I liked it so much I thought I'd create a live wallpaper from it, but change it from a countdown to Google IO to just displaying the system clock.
Trying to get a feel for how many people would actually use it. I've attached the standalone app I created so you can try it out.
Please let me know what you think!! Thanks,

It would be an awesome lock screen wall paper..
Different colored balls maybe, amount of balls, maybe you can even add in different types of balls for a paid version? Like for sports fans- they can choose a baseball or basketball etc...If thats even possible LOL
Pretty cool. Some options I'd like to see:
1. Ability to change balls (color, size, shape)
2. Ability to change physics (gravity control, bounce speed)
3. Ability to interact with bouncing balls (move finger and cause them to change as if I actually bumped them)
4. Location on screen for date/time
5. If possible, have the balls interact with the icons/widgets on the screen - bounce between around as if they were real objects
Sorry for the Delay
Sadly I was not one of the 10 Android winners for the contest. However, I have finished turning my submission into a Live Wallpaper with the system clock and stuck it on the market.
I'm very happy with it so far but this is only the beginning. I plan to add accelerometer support, and a couple settings options as one of the other posters requested.
And who knows, if it sells well enough maybe I can afford to buy an I/O ticket from someone on eBay. So.... WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?? Go buy my app and try it out!!!

I prefered the LazyTube tile with the youtube colors rather than the theme color. Too many developers do that, it get boring having a whole main page made of the same color.
As for features, I just love the app.

Now don't you dare to change that tile again! Honestly, it's great. It's just that small area around the word "tube" that adepts the style color. It fits perfectly into the homescreen. I like it exactly the way it is.

Yeh, we are really quite happy with how the tile is now and at the end of the day it's nearly impossible to please everyone but we'll continue doing our best.
That's odd. The tile icon on my copy (v 2.2) doesn't change at all. It looks exactly like the icon in the OP. Maybe I need to uninstall/reinstall?
[Edit] Never mind. I just figured out that the complaint was about the Lazy Tube icon, not the free version.
I need to say that I like your app so much. And I am also in the country which cannot buy the app. But if I can in near future, I will buy it for sure.

If you make a theme scrolling down Wormy's body please make that just an add-in skin. That would be Ugly IMO. Sorry.
I have a Question about the Lazylist. You say it's customizeable but how? Also can I make a suggestion? How about a way to make playlist on Youtube(Desktop) that can be imported to your fine App?
Hi,
Is there something you could do to improve the Favorites please?
Certain videos do not appear in the said list. The mobile phone restriction shall not apply to smartphones.
HTC YouTube and SuperTube apps give me access to these videos.

Hi, we will constantly be looking to improve our brand image so yes the logo will no doubt change over time. We are currently focusing on some new and exciting functionality so it may be a little bit before we have the time to address the logo but we'll definitely consider it.

Yeh, we've had a very mixed reaction to our beloved lazy worm and it seems like it's very much love/hate. I think for the mean time we'll probably focus on providing an amazing experience rather than skinning the app.
The content displayed within the Lazylist can be selected from within the 'Lazylist' settings screen. So it will populate video content from your preferred feeds and mash them into one list.
We will also definitely consider playlist support for future updates.

These videos are indicated on the website as "cannot be played on mobile phones".
But in my opinion we are not concerned, they are talking about formats that shall not be played on basic phones. Not smartphones. If SuperTube can play them LazyTube shall play them too, seriously. You are limiting your app too much.
Regarding the current LazyTube logo, I shall admit that I do not like it too much. I really did not like the Worm, but the new one is a bit boring. Especially the name "LazyTube" is not very positive. Hard to like somehing that is "Lazy"
Why not a real Metro icon, I mean totally the color of the theme, and just the name in transparency? Anyway, I am sure we can do better.
I am a terrible designer, but why not this spirit (just an humble suggestion):
Love the app

Our name and brand is not something that we can change at this stage, admittedly perhaps we went a little too far with the 'light hearted' approach but we wanted to have a little fun with it.
We are a two geeks who like to work through the night and often find ourselves sleeping in so 'lazyworm apps' was kind of a way of making fun of ourselves.
We were hoping people would not take the "lazy" too seriously and see it for what it is, a light hearted way of distinguishing our brand from the rest.
We have had mixed reactions to it and so far people either love it or hate it... so at least we are not 'mediocre'
Finally, the icon has been a really tough one as nearly every revision has a similar reaction to that of our brand. Either love or hate, we will no doubt work very hard to improve our brand but as I mentioned we will be focusing on streamlining the app and adding in new features at this stage.
