Hi to all developers and fellow forum users..... I had tried various custom ROMs based on both GB and ICS and they're all great in their own ways but what I miss is the swype of stock GB which is not seen in ICS ROMs. I know that this is something that Samsung offers along with touchwiz but is it possible to add swype to ROMs based on ICS? That would be simply awesome. Thanks for reading this thread.....

Not really possible in ASOP roms and roms build from source. But If you have roms deved from LPY or LPF you can just install swype.apk in system.

Thanks for the rapid response. I did go to the swype website and after registration I opened the link sent to my gmail and it downloaded the swype beta installer but after an attempt to install the application it says that this screen size is not supported :-(...So I went back to the website and was suggested to delete both the swype and installer, download the installer again and repeat the process but even after this the problem remains and I could not install swype on my phone....The funny thing is I saw on their website that swype works on galaxy note but I wonder why the installation process failed on my phone....

Any ROM you get from this forum will have installation instructions. This is the best place to start.
Gingerbread has not been officially released yet so I doubt you will find any ROMs based on it. Most custom ROMs are based on JPU and JPY (both FroYo), but they do have some Gingerbread elements installed.

Nice to see galaxy have recovery and 3 button mode.
Both are working on my galaxy.
Very easy to install custom rom.
But Xperia x10 need to root then install recovery and then custom rom.

So this is fugutweaks pulled from Samsung ROMs.
It really gives you a smoother scrolling experience on AOSP ROMs.
It replaces your app_process and system_server binaries
Samsung has optimized those two files thus giving a better experience than stock android ones.
Sorry guys. I know some of you feel that this is just placebo. I realized that the files are same with S2's and Note's files.
I don't know about it initially as I used AOSP ROM that time and I didn't tried it on samsung ROM.
So, now the thread is renamed.

Do you mean cm9,cm10,aosp based roms
If yes, then try paranoid android jb..You cant use smemo and those samsung apps but there are alternatives for them
Aosp roms are useless now a days.. JB samsung roms are way ahead on smoothness and features... Not to mention multi view and others...

There is an S-Memo APK that has been ported to work on AOSP based ROMs such as AOKP and CM. Check the SGH-I747 forums. I've used it and it works pretty well. Also, try Catch with the Sketch add on. I prefer it over S-Memo, personally.

Hi there! I would like to ask these:
1. Is it necessary to do a factory reset every time you flash a rom? What is this feature useful for?
2. Which do you think it's the best Jelly bean rom for the galaxy note? (im currently using CM10 Nightlies.)
Thank you very much

If you are updating your rom like changing from nightly to nightly on cm10 most likely you won't need to factory reset.. Factory reset its not a feature its a procedure... And you can only perform this procedure from a safe kernel (cm9/10 kernels /Hydracore /speedmod) because of the emmc brick bug...
In order to be able to change roms or to fix some issue like wake locks or hang ups sometimes you gotta factory reset..
FOR ME best JB are samsung TW UX based roms.. Xls7 with multi windows its a beast.. AOSP Roms are way behind samsung
Tapatalking on my n7000
I like the PA: Utacka ROM
1. Depending on the rom and the OP.
2. pa by utacka is the rom for me.
Hi my name is Luxor and i am a flashoholic but thanks to paranoid android i've been clean for weeks.
Thanks for the info! Could you please share the link for the rom you are using? Is that jelly bean as well?
Is it a good idea to flash that through mobile Odin pro? I did not see a factory reset option just the cache cleaning ones in Odin.
Secondly, does it matter which gapps file I use when flashing? There are several ones of different dates.
I'm new to all this do my questions I'm sure are silly, but quite enjoying the rooted phone.

roms are available in the development section of this forum, the opening post describes if they are jelly bean or ics based
you cant flash custom roms through mobile odin
you have to use gapps for JB with a JB based rom and gapps for ics with an ics based rom, its best to use the most recent releases, then you can choose between multidpi and inverted varieties..... your choice
On sweetrom for a day, everything seem good. Can consider flashing!

I am on TMT 5 JB rom and I am happy with this rom. The rom is smooth with good battery life and I like the muti window feature. I was on paranoid rom which I also like for a while. With the multi-window feature I do not think I will go back to paranoid rom unless it has the same feature.
I have decided for TMT 5 as well, downloaded it and has some great features, the icons seem rather blocky but I can make my peace with that given the extras. Could anyone share the link where the updates of that rom are? Have found this initial version but not where the changelogs are. Thanks a lot!
