downgrade to stock GB rom using ODIN!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
use LC1 wipe ROM
then apply this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784
and after that you can go to cwm and install custom ROM (CM9)

Upgrading a rooted Galaxy Note! Need some help!

I have this Samsung galaxy Note gt-n7000. I rooted it with a new kernel AbyssNote 4.2 that even installed the CWM 5.8. It has the stock ROM 2.3.5 and i wanna update it with an official ROM from Samsung. Will there be any problem or the Official 4.0.4 Rom will just remove the root and the custom kernel?
I will install the official ROM with Odin
With Odin, you will lose root and your custom kernel.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
When you flash with odin the root will be lost. After flashing your new 4.0.4 stock rom you can flash a rooted kernel via odin.
just check this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784 and follow the instructions carefully!

You should root it first described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
Then I would flash PhilZ-cwm6 Safe Kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
Then you can pick your favorite ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1349
There are installation tutorials inside (almost always)

You can flash directly on top of Gingerbread..no need to be on ICS to flash JB..
Official gingerbread rom is safe for flashing
Don't do it from leaked roms, tho
BUt how
my quetion is
How to flash Jelly bean on gingerbread... i have micromax A25,, tell me the way
What phone do you have again?
*facepalm*
each device has its own roms and flashing methods...this is the galaxy note forum..you will have to ask in your devices forum for an appropriate respose

Please read the first post in MaxFu's thread. Especially chapter 4. Technical Description.
But you are really sure what you want to do? New member, first post - so I guess not very experienced.
You should know and read about the possibility to brick your device with ICS 4.0.4 stock. Please be careful.
Or better: switch to one of the Custom Roms (GB, ICS or JB, or CM or...). These are safe, you'll get good instructions how to install and excellent Roms to play with.

Question: Samsung Galaxy S i9000

Hi All,
Sorry if this is not posted in the right section, i am unable to post in the correct section due to me being a new registered member, so i thought i'd ask here and maybe some of you can help and share some of you're knowledge.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S i9000, I followed a guide posted on the XDA developers website (here is the link) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852546
I ignored the INSTALLING JW4 section as i was already updated to GINGERBREAD 2.3.6 XXJW4.
I then followed the Installing Root section with success.
I then installed Cyanogenmod 9.0 on the install custom ROM section, but further down the section i was also told to install gapps....Could someone tell me what gapps is ? and what gapps does ?
Everything else went well and i am now running Cyanogenmod 9.0 on my Galaxy S.
I was wondering, i hear alot about jelly bean, ice cream, cyanogenmod, what are the differences ? or are these the same thing ?
now i have cyanogenmod installed on my phone, and i want to update to say Jelly Bean 4.2 how do i go about doing this ? do i need to follow the guide and root again or ?
also can someone explain flashing to me ?
Thanks in advance.

First of all...what is GAPPS?
Gapps is short for google apps...its has gmail, maps, play store, maybe youtube or an update to the camera app (not sure) but you get the idea...you don't have to install gapps but it's recommended...here is a link to gapps: GAPPS. Third link is what you should download...the one that says CyanogenMod 9.x.x
Second, Ice cream sandwich(ICS), Jelly Bean(JB):
These are android OS versions, you are now using cyanogenMod 9....this is using Android ICS(ice cream sandwich) this is android 4.0.3 or 4.0.4.
Here is a full list of Android OS versions.
Now you get the idea...
Third...what is CyanogenMod?
Simply put, CyanogenMod is a group of people who take the stock android OS and make some customizations, editing, tweaking, and theming...like others...but CyanogenMod(CM) are so great, that most other ROMs depend on CM (You'll see in the ROM page something like "Based on CM" or "Based on cyanogenMod 9").
Extra:
What is ClockWorkMod recovery? (CWM):
CWM is the most popular custom recovery that gives you more options than that of the stock recovery...most of the time, when you root your phone you flash a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP(Team Win Recovery Project) which give you the ability to flash custom ROMs and other flashable ZIP files...
This is a great guide and will help you greatly...
Have a nice day
