Hi all,
I have samsung galaxy s and i switched to ics rom from GB 2.3.6(very stable and awesome) and found there no built-in video player while gb has samsung video player which plays all format with hardware decoding and MX player hw decoder also works but in ICS there is no hardware decoder also MX player hardware decoding not works. sw decoder is very lagy and useless and live wallpapers is also lagy. While in Team ICSSGS RC4.2 says Full Hardware Acceleration so where is hw acceleration???
I'm using Dice player and it seems to handle most of the formats I have with HW acceleration. Give it a try.
I recently installed dice player, it only show HW icon like MX Player bt actualy does not do hw decoding. U can feel the result of, video is very lagy and sound is chopy. In GB there is no issue and i often watch HD movies, I don't know why anybody feeling this basic issue. Without HW acceleration ICS there is no fun thats y i was using GB with ICS moded them
I use BSPlayer lite + BSPlayer ARMv7 VFP CPU support
Now i tried this, player is very pathetic and if i m using its hw mode of bs engine then video works else system mode does not work. Y u r using BSPlayer ARMv7 VFP CPU support while only bsplayer lite playing mkv files?
I'm running CM9 + semaphore 1.2 kernel, Moboplayer and MX player is working only in software mode, but Dice player hardware mode is working!
I use MIUI.4-SpeeD rom and no problems with live walpapesr. Default player, integrated in galery, play mp4 without problem, mkv play withoot sound, avi not play. BSPlayer play all formatss what i need. Wen using software decoding, mkv drop some frames, wen using system HW decoder, screen is OK but no sound, when using BSPlayer HW decoder screen and sound is normal.
Thanks for all gud replys, Dice player is working good. But i came to point that ICS has not built-in support for HD videos or doesn't have HW decoder. Every player is using its own decoder and produce different result. I just wana know what is technical missing in ICS comparative to GB, because GB has everything built-in(hw decoder and codes) to play every type of file?
Was interesting and i flash phone back to GB rom XXJVU. Default video player not play avi, mkv play withou sound, mp4 play good. The same results I obtained with MIUI.4-SpeeD rom withou any external player and codecs.

Is there an MKV player with internal subtitles support?
I've tried many different players already. It seems the Optimus 2x has no mkv hardware decoding support, so those other players just play audio and display a black screen.
The closest I can come to is RockPlayer but I have to extract the subtitles out for it to be able to load them.
vplayer?? may be?
OX2 plays MKV well since Baseband/ROM/RIL 606
and which player, play's that files good?
i use CM7 and rockplayer it works good

"Tegra chip only support up to [email protected] for 1080p and possibly [email protected] for 720p"
i converted my mkv from hp 4.1 to main 3.1 and it plays fine on latest stock rom v20l. 45min tv show took about 22min on my i5 2300 machine from mkv ac3 to mp4 aac , i connect the phone to an old sony bravia tv via hdmi cable , and play from my NAS which run NFS server with mx video player 1.5, ( i'm able to turn on hardware acceleration after conversion, before conversion it can only use software decoder and basically can not be watched, it stuttered a lot)
i used mobo player, and its works good.
this is market link for mobo player :

then you install codec ARM V7_VFPV3 for O2X : http://www.moboplayer.com/decoder/down.php?ID=6
this is a official web for mobo player : http://www.moboplayer.com

I agree. The only player which can play x264 720p mkv files smoothly.
hi
First of all i want to say that i don't wana to use players like bsplayer, dice player or mx player.
I want to watch a movie in built-in player or m video player.
The thing is that these movies are working good on stock 2.2.1.
And one time is working for me on 2.3.6 (but i forgot on what rom and now i can't find it)
Maby some one know what to do to watch that type of movies.
MX player play this only in Sw mode.
One developer say's that this is maby kernel feature.
I think this could be some video drivers.
I recall that GamerzRom was able to play 720p mkv very well, but not with a stock player, it was with Moboplayer rather.
I don't think any stock player will be able to play 720p mkvs, due to the lack of hardware decoding support without proper codecs (Samsung does slap in quite a few already, but unfortunately not for MKV IIRC, presumably due to it possibly sucking too much RAM).
I guess your best bet would be to try that ROM with a 3rd party player like MoboPlayer, Dice player or MX player.
ok, i like the rom , video speed is little better but it still lagging and played in software mode
look at the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dz-mh1RzmpA
It works just fine for me. On ICS CM9 with mx player. Very smooth and clear!

maby more info?
becouse i don't think that .mkv is playing smoothly for u.
Try this: http://www.nyaa.eu/?page=torrentinfo&tid=322020
Diceplayer
i'm using devil kernel with XL memory and without any problems. 720p videos work perfectly with Video player and Diceplayer.
So try and see if devil kernel helps you out too.
Good Luck
for me on CM9+devil's kernel 720p movies runs smooth without any problems, I'm using MXplayer.
slim ics + devil3 +mx player or dice player and video playback (.mkv, anime) is terrible.

Feel free to Thank
Hi,
I have heard the app "MX Player" and so, I tried installing MX Player Pro but I can't install the latest codec (1.7.9 both tried the non-VFP and VFP ARMv6 version and still no luck).
I have tried VLC 0.0.8 as well. I can install and open the application, but the thing is, it's TOO laggy.
Is there any other video player out there that do support MKV (which I can play it without lags) and do support SRT subtitle as well? Thanks.
Regards,
Heero
well u need to overclock to watch mkv in our phones...and mx is the best with less lag after OC and phone under charging.
use the mx free version from playstore, codecs will install properly..
laggy player doesn't also because hardware , but the MKV resolution size is too biger for that phone
try small resolution mkv , and if still laggy ,
try install mx player from play store only , don't install from unknown source
*sorry for my bad english*
Has anyone succeeded enabling HW decoders in BS player and MX player on droid/milestone?
I installed both of them, installed the ARMv7 codec packs for their respective players, and tried many different videos. It always renders in SW mode. Is it possible at all to enable the HW mode on this chip?
Forgot to mention, I am using CM9 (9.1.0b) which afaik does support HW accelerated decoding.
I only managed to enable HW+ decoding in MX Player using CM7.
In CM9 and 10 it somehow doesn't work :/
So, I have a problem with my Remix Mini (it's the whole reason why I even made an account).
My Mini can play most HEVC files, but there are a few that (depending on the player) either won't play or stutter really bad.
If it's any help, most of the files start with the letter G (which is probably just a coincidence, but still...), at least one of them is 10 bit, and one of them has an Opus audio codec.
Most of them were downloaded from the same site (but possibly different encoders).
I've tried tweaking around with Kodi, MX Player, and VLC Android (both versions, the beta version plays any video too quickly).
Any suggestions?
Anyone?

Will do, thx!
Didn't work! Please help!
For some files I've been able to use MX Player and make it work by switching to HW Decoder... However for these certain videos HW Decoder won't work and you can't even select HW+. When I choose HW Decoder it just says, "HW decoder is not supported".
