Google play won't install daily show app for MIUI ROM

Hi Guys,
I switched from CM7 to MIUI and its been working wonders. Great ROM. I am on Android 2.3 with build MIUI-203300
I went to google play to download the new Daily Show app, but the store doesn't recognize the phone as being compatible even though it says the minimum requirement is Android 2.1
Anybody can please point me on how to fix this. Much much appreciated.
thx..
No body respond to this until the mod moves it. User shouldn't have posted in the DEV section...

[Help] Fixing lost of ringtones and sounds in JB ROMs

It seems in almost all the jelly bean roms the problems of loss of ringtones & Notification sounds etc. and FCing of certain apps persists. I read all the threads of the JB roms but no solution found. The threads are flooded with these complaints. I would request everyone to discuss this problem here. This is a request to Developers to please help us solve this problem. People with solutions please post.
Thanx in Advance

Check how much free space you have in /datadata.
CM9 had checks in place to monitor the state of /datadata, but these early JB ROMs don't. If its getting filled it may be causing problems with the media scanner.

Wrong Section!!! This discussion doesnt belong here... and one more thing... JB for SGS is still in its early period of development so dont expect everything to work perfectly... there might be some hiccups... jus follow the instructions of developers in OP of respective threads and u will not run into problems...
Oh ya me tooooooo it is really annoying

just copy the system/media/audio from cm9 and the problem should be fixed but you might not have enough space for it (thats why it was deleted)

Come on, it's Alpha - state.....
wait at least for the rom to be Beta and advance towards RC, devs have a lot to take care about right now and I'm sure the media-related problems are part of their work for future releases.
Stick to OPs of the roms if you'd like to try them out this soon or wait for Beta and follow the respective thread before flashing to get the current status of known bugs and workarounds.
my opinion

And what do you think devs on the ALPHA builds of JellyBean are doing??? OMG really?!?! Do you know that ALPHA isn't even a BETA?!?!? that means that some stuff just will not work like on regular GB / ICS builds!!
Want stability and no bugs? go to GB or ICS, there are plenty of very stable GB and ICS roms around here!!!

If you didn't have any solution then u shouldn't have posted. XDA is community site and everyone has right to ask whatever he wants. And by this threat I m not complaining to any developers ! Read the op again ! It is not a complain ! I just opened this so people could find the solution which can be included in future updates of the ROM. I know I shouldn't open a threat for every problem but this problem was not so minor ! Do u understand that ?! I don't know why some people just like to criticize others initiative. I very well know its alpha built and errors are bound to happen. Its not always that the developers have to solve all the problems alone for their rom, we can initiate too! Together !

Is it wrong for people to find solutions for bugs in alpha builds ? If no one tries to fix bugs saying that this is alpha, we would never have a better rom than! The development stops !
I apologize for putting in wrong section.

No need to apologize bro... ur intention is good but u should know better that posting queries in development section is always equal to getting flamed from fellow xda users... anyways moderators will move this thread to QnA/general... u can also request the moderators to move this thread to general section. abt ur concern regarding bugfixes... pawitp has set up bug reporting system in his cm10 thread... here we can submit bug reports with logcat and he will try to fix them... even we can try to fix the bugs and submit code in cyanogenmod gerrit for reviews and if verified then it will be merged into cm code... hence profit.
My fix: copy the entire audio folder from /system/media to /sdcard/media.
This way all your sounds will exist twice (although you will only see them once), but after the media scanner finishes scanning, they won't disappear anymore.
Ringtones are back.

Thank you.. :good:
I did and it worked.
Only that I like the old classic ring tone. Had to listen and found 'Pyxis' is what i am looking for..
I copied (using Solid Explorer) folder system\audio (Jump option at the bottom, Device/System root took me to where system folder is. Then scrolled to \system\media, long press the audio folder and clicked on copy, again jump/device/internal memory and scrolled to media folder, long pressed on media folder and chose paste. done..

ignore if you already got solution
For ringtone problem,
1. install root explorer app
2. go to System-> Media -> Audio
3. Mount as R/w, ignore if already mounted in R/w
4. Long press on folder(Ringtones folder,Notifications folder) and go to permissions
5. Set RW-R-R style.
6. Reboot the mobile.
by this you can see all the ringtones avail in your mobile but cant listen while setting them, but will work as it should.
Regards,
Praveen.

Q & A about Hackfest JB v2.23 build8

I don't have 10 messages yet, so i have to do it here.
So any questions i will have i will ask here.
About (ROM) (CM10) ParanoidAndroid v2.23 Hackfest JB (build8)

tonyP writes : Don't restore system apps (like Settings) or system data (like Wifi data) with TitaniumBackup!
What about after the first install?
1. After that and after i installed my own apps and settings, can i then restore backups from titanium?
originally from the beginning the Gapps chrashed a lot (google.com apps), so i flashed the latest Harsh kernel,so far this works great.
2. Is that OK or does it have other risks?
Answer found
After a few reboots the camera simply dissapeared, nowhere to be found, not even in /system/app.
(it wasn't even there when it was working)
Off course that happend right after i installed all apps, widgets and their settings, and before i could make a backup of them.
So i had to do it all over again. :crying:
3. Where is the camera apk located?
4. Where are the downloaded apps located?
I want to install the agenda 201210120 apk on a different device.
Answer found
Didn't know that was possible with es file explorer, before i always used file manager.
Bored about trolling XDA? Too lazy to use scroll on general section?
There's a thread made by tonyp for that. Use it intead of making chaotic tread.
?? you automatically assume i don't search before i ask?
i am a mod on a Wii softmod site, i create softmod tutorials, so don't judge people you don't know please.
Yes i have searched, and as we say in Holland, sometimes you don't see the forrest because of all the trees.
So answer honestly, do you search through hundreds of posts to find an answer?
Yes? , then you have my respect, cause your one of the few.
I quit searching after a few dosen and simply ask.
Edit:
I discovered something new.
I lost the camera again right after i installed tomtom navigation.
Don't know why, but i wil solve it for now with a backup from cm7 camera.
That's practicly the same anyway.

[SOLVED] fapps link needed (NOT Non-Neon gapps)

Could anyone give a link for the working fapps for PA 12 by tonyp ..... I searched throughout XDA and throughout internet but couldn't find it .... I don't like gapps and that's why I'm searching for fapps .... I'm asking for fapps (NOT Non-Neon gapps) which might be similar to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1715375
but this one is not working fully at present ...
Thanks in advance
Com'on guys..... 36 views and no reply so far ..... :banghead:
First read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2186251 then you will no, that there are no fapps :cyclops:
fapps was a very bad name for non-neon gapps.
For PA12 (which is based on Android 4.1.x) you need the gapps which are linked in the first post.
The thing is, that the gapps since Android 4.2.x aren't compatible with Non-Neon Devices. With Roms < 4.2 you can use the normal gapps.
I have already read that many times .... read there what tonyp says in the first post :
" P.S.: For the love of God, don't call them fapps - fapps is a foss (free and open source) package which uses OpenStreetMaps instead of GMaps and so on. "
That's why I'm searching for fapps and in order to avoid any confusion I also wrote that I don't need Non-Neon gapps but fapps....
Anyways thanks for the reply.....
Seriously !!!!!!!! Two Centuries of views (200 views ) and still no answer..... That's GREAT :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
I didn't find a package, but this German article:
http://www.gamersglobal.de/news/62752/so-gehts-android-ohne-google
There you can find the alternatives to the Google apps.
If you need help understanding it, I can help you, but I think you can see what you can use instead of what.

Thanks, but I have already quoted this page in first post that it is not working fully currently.... This project has started about an year ago and is still under development.... I guess the developer doesn't get much time to develop it or whatever may be the reason but this project also looks promising and I'm already following it....

OK here it is....
At the time of opening this thread I was on tonyp PA 12 and didn't install gapps (before that I used to install gapps on every new build, clean install).... It had now more free RAM and the phone was much more smooooother (add infinite o's to it in the middle ) than before with the same apps installed as before except gapps..... But there was obviously the lack of email client, play store, etc.... So after searching and from this thread also, I came to know of the alternatives... So my setup was :
1. Blank Store (from XDA thread mentioned above) and Aptoide ===>> instead of Play Store.
2. K-9 Mail ===>> instead of GMail
3. OsmAnd ===>> instead of Google Maps (2 & 3 from your German website. Thanks again man )
4. Browser ===>> Always used Opera / native CM browser and NEVER downloaded Chrome. So no problem here.
5. Calendar ===>> NEVER used any. I can remember my tasks (or at least write them down). So no problem here also.
6. Never cared about GTalk, Google+, etc... I don't use all this crap
But after tonyp released his 10.1 ROM with "minimum gapps" pre-installed, I took it as an opportunity to update my apps (which were a few - others I had already updated earlier via other Stores)... So I'm again planning now to remove gapps from this ROM and again gain my Privacy and ROM Smooooooooothness back ...

The GalleryGoogle.apk for [P7300/P7310] AOSP Android 4.1.2 [27-02-2013]

As I am a new member and not allowed to directly reply in the thread " [4.1.2][P7300/P7310] AOSP Android 4.1.2 [27-02-2013][DISCONTINUED]" in Development Forum, I put it here hopefully this will help some folks who followed that thread and find the camera and gallery missing.
I followed the thread to flash this fantastic Rom on my P7310, everything works fine except for the missing Camera/Gallery apps, which symptoms some other folks encountered also.
I tried some different Gapps I found on goo.im and none helped. Then I found this apk on goo.im and installed it. So far, it works well. To be more specific, I have tried it for a week now taking photos and videos, plus display them in gallery. It sure works. Hope this will help.
Again as I am not allowed to to post URLs here, just search GalleryGoogle.apk on goo.im and it will gives the right apk file (Md5 checksum: e62c07436c108efc6ae751f36d2622db)
