i just flashed 4.0.4 ics to my A855 milestone, at first it seems that everything is working fine, but boy was i wrong
the phone feature won't work. so i assume text doesn't either. when i try to call it says "mobile network not available". in the stock froyo i remember on the lockscreen and notification pull down it would tell me my network at all times (telus canada), now there's nothing about it there.
and i tried to install the latest google apps which i found in rootzwiki, the download page was goo.im so that's legit right? i can't post the link to it because it won't let me..
all it installed was gmail, google talk, and google search. no play market. what are all the apps that come from the gapps zip?
anyways i tried to download apk installer from the browser play store, then get the play store apk file into my sd and install play store that way, but apk store just won't download for some reason, it says something like "this app will be downloaded to your device shortly" but nothing happens.
1. set Canada(Telus) baseband under Settings>Device>Advanced>Baseband selection and reboot
2. Use the gapps from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445209
Regular gapps won't do any good to Milestone because of the limited space in /system. That's why I have to provide special gapps package for Milestone - most of it is installed to /data/vendor instead of /system (as mentioned in that post I linked).
Note that if you applied the gapps from goo.im, you will have to re-apply the CM9 update zip first, then install the gapps I mentioned above.

I finally made the jump and rooted my Droid 1 today and installed CM6. I had issues with Rom Manger giving me an error when trying to download CM6 with Google Apps, so I downloaded the ROM from the web and installed it manually. Works like a charm.
I tried to go back to ROM Manager and just install Google Apps, but it keeps giving me an error during downloading.
I still need the Google Apps installed... I have downloaded the zip and moved it to my SD card, but can't figure out how to flash it. (been searching the past hour for an answer) I have gone to recovery mode but it looks like that is only to update ROMs (update.zip) am I missing something easy here?
Thanks

It depends on what Recovery image you are using. For some reason ROM Manager gets a bad CRC or other error when downloading the GApps addon update zip. Don't know why. However if you get the latest file directly from the CyanogenMod site (hardware appropriate of course) you can install it from the recovery screen.
I'm using ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.0.1 and it allows you to specify a .zip of any name and directory on the SD-card (you have to mount it first). I'm not sure if normal SPRecovery allows for that. Make no mistake, installing the GApps is basically a ROM update, as it installs them to the System apps folder (which is essentially read only).
One thing to note once you get it installed. Sometimes you get issues with updating the ROM's apps (including GApps). This was notoriously noticed with the new Car Home and the new YouTube apps. In order to fix it, you have to use RootExplorer, TitaniumBackup or another SuperUser enabled browser or app manager to forcefully remove the system app, then get the updated app from the Market.
I hope that helps.
I'm using ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.0.1 but didn't see a menu item for installing zip files. I ended up renaming the Gapps file to Update.zip and flashed it in recovery mode. Worked like a charm.
Thanks
Do any of you have this error itself?
I'd like to see if I could make sense of it. Back when I installed Cyanogenmod 6.0.0 on my new phone, about 2 weeks ago, I was able to install it with GApps with no problem.
Hi, I just installed CM7 on my Gtab. I did a Google search on how to get Market (& other google apps) and I found you have to flash "gapps" through Clockwork Recovery. Is this through the app, or the recovery? I'm completely lost. I'm no noob, but I've never used CyanogenMod before. Can someone point me to a download and walk me through it?

Technomancer pointed out that you can find the apps on goo-inside.me but I have not tried it myself.
I choose the regular approach, I download the apps from apktop.com and install the apk. Simple, and the bonus is that I get the modded maps which allow me to do navigation (saves me 30-60 bucks)
Hi there.
I recentely re-flashed a CM7.2 official.
I want to get the cleanest device. I don't want any crap on. NO CRAP policy!
So, I wanted to roll without Google apps. No Google Play, no Gmail, no nothing.
Using the email.apk for mails, Opera as a browser, and only games and performance tool.
It works cool and extremely fast.
Only one issue:
Opera can't download new apps from Google Play (play.google.com).
Does anybody knows how can I download ONLY google play? Or some way to download apps from the store without downloading the full google apps?

Download the gapps package (but don't even put it in sdcard), open with a archive manager (WinRAR, WinZIP, 7zip etc) and extract Market.apk or similar (only the market), put that .APK in sdcard and install it from the phone (or you can download lastest market searching in the forums, but Market included in gapps for GB works fine anyway).
If you want to update (remember, the version you have installed is Android Market, not Google Play), just search market-updater.apk (or similar) in the package and push it via adb (I don't think it will install directly) to /system/app directory in your phone, and then reboot. Then, open the market and it will prompt to replace the Android Market (or after closing and opening again) for the Google Play store. The Market will not update itself without the market-updater.
Thanks a lot for the quick and informative relpy!
I do have a question though - From past experience, if I disable proccess like google-framework and such that contains the login information, the google play will not function at all. The login is bound to a different application, and I do not want to install these.
Is it possible by any means to download directly through a browser?

I think there is a add-on from Google Chrome that let download APKs directly to your computer, but if you meant to install via other ways in your phone, I really don't know because Opera (and others APK) require Google Play Store installed, and Play Store needs a Google Account to link all apps (free and paid) to your account.
Well obviously I understand I need a google account. What I mean is, I want to be able to log in to Google from my Opera and download apps from play.google.com. Right now it works up to the point of the popping-up download screen to verify my device, than I click download and nothing happens.
Newsflash:
I decided to give up and partially install market like you said. Got a new vendor.apk and installed it, obviously when I ran it just closed saying that I need a to sign in on my google account but since I had no google framework it didn't even offer to let me log in.
Installed google framwork too, now it gives me the sign-in screen and after I enter username/password it simply can't establish connection to the server.
Yes, I have checked and I have both a valid wifi and a 3g connection.
Any suggestions?
Edit:
Got it to work eventually, I hope it will serve my uses right.
Edit2:
I was optimictic too early
Now whenever I try to download anything with the Google Play Store it shuts down unexpectedly and does this until I manually enter the Google App info page and delete additional user data,

Egozy, the way I get rid of the crap is - flash the full gapps and then delete the apps I don't need (Email, browser, gallery3D and what not). BUT, there are apps that you can't delete and are related to the functioning of other apps.
What you can delete from CyanogenMod is covered in CyanogenMod Wiki - Barebones
Download GAPPS and install via CWM
first you'll need the ota.zip of the build you made of marshmallow in /sdcard
you'll also want to download this gapps: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347835438
Im not sure if other gapps will work, but this is the one that worked for me.
flash your stock aosp ota marshmallow .zip through your recovery (twrp or cwm)
then flash the gapps
reboot your phone...
soon you'll reach the setup screen. You're going to start seeing the Google Play Services errors flash on the screen but disappear. That's ok. Get through the setup wizard and you'll see your new google homescreen. Except if you run anything Google you'll get the Google Play services errors. So lets fix that.
Go to settings -> apps
Click on the three dots on top right and show system.
Taps on Google play services
Tap on permissions
And turn everything on
Now go and download the google apps your want and the google play services error won't pop up anymore. All this has to do with how Google changed the permissions in the apps. Im sure someone better than me will find a better way to fix this and this is just a temp fix.
is there any solution for nexus with original recovery?

This is DOPE!

I have a fix ready for this on ROM level.
Means a patch for custom ROM devs to apply

Is there a way for this to work on an Android Emulator too?
I have created a new thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...-to-install-google-play-app-services-t3266042
If you know something, please let me know.
Hello, I have a K3 Note bought from China, it comes with the Chinese ROM, therefore, without Gapps...
So I already rooted it, but whenever I try to make Play Store working, or I get the "Framework Services stop working" or I get [RH-01] error in Play Store. I follow many guides but no one working, some say put the app in system/priv-app, others say in system/app, some say just need GoogleServicesFramework + Google Play, others say need more than 4 apks to work so.
Could somebody give me the apk you're using in your Lenovo K3 Note? I'm on Android 5.0 Stock Rom.
Just solved it, if anyone is interested I follow this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874285
I download those files and put them into system/priv-app NOT in system/app, then give the permission, then reboot, I open that old play store and was working, I add my account everything, then later I updated to last play store from apk-mirror. Time to time it show up "Google Play services has stopped" but now not really much... That's all
flash gapps
just flash gapps
http://opengapps.org/
choose ur os version and architcture and download the gapps.download nano version as it has less size
