I'm currently on a buggy minicm7 2.2.0. I'm suspecting the culprit of the bugs is my SD card(A2SD). I'm thinking of re-installing everything from scratch, but then again, there is the good looking minicm9 ics.
So my question is, should I upgrade to minicm9? (I don't have much time to check it myself for trial and error so I'm asking here for your opinions.)
Please convince me why should I do so. Are there any significant functionality that is available on cm7 that is not on cm9? Significant performance drop on games?(though I don't play on my x8 nowadays)
Thanks!
If u use ur pohone day to day and record videos or watch videos from youtube u should use MiniCm7 2.2.0
If not then MiniCm9 is ok if u supercharge it and install this add on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649187
so it no flash support? Hmmm.. I guess it's fine...

Hi, I tried minicm9.. at first it was cool, even refreshing..
The UI feels revamped, system settings cleaned, messaging better, default launcher is beautiful and it really felt like wonderful..
But after some time of using it, I found it laggy, just opening drawer takes about 1 or 2 seconds, it often restarts, and it also restarts when I try to overclock to over 748MHz (this also happened in minicm7)..
I just felt down, I really like the new feel but the performance was not as good as minicm7, I really hope it gets to a point that it is at par with minicm7
i would suggest you stick with minicm7 2.2.0 cos the minicm9 is extrremely laggy, constant force closing, and its got a crazy battery drain.i flashed minicm9 but reverted to minicm7 cos of the bugs.i feel naa will be working on an update for the minicm9 with fixed bugs ,until then just stick with minicm7 cos most people are reverting to it already.
pls give me a thanks if its helpfull.cos i am a new member.so i can post more comments
I say go with cm9, I flashed it 2 days ago and Im loving it, yes it is not stable yet but it is quite ok, there is a bit lag but you can always install resized apps and v6 supercharger
If u need to use ur phone to watch video daily, either from your phone,or internet, then you should stick with MiniCM7,but if you want something new,try out MiniCM9,i'm using MiniCM9 right now,and i'm happy with it
Advantages of MiniCM9:
-Android 4.0 (ICS)
-Fast Wifi Connection (really2 fast)
-UI just like Galaxy Nexus ( i love it very2 much)
Disadvantages/bug of MiniCM9:
-video not working
-Speaker sound not so good, can use FIX from here : http://www.4shared.com/zip/2g7-UiU2/MiniCM9_Audio_Fix.html
-Quite laggy scrolling, can improve by flashing this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649187
#as said above you can also use supercharged,i might do it later, but right now i can said it is table for daily use like sms, call, internet, listen to radio,etc...if you have problem in MiniCM9,don't forget to read FAQ first, hope this help you to decide

MiniCM9 lags as hell, I'll keep the MiniCM7 until the 9 improves.
I personally dont go to ICS due limitations of our hardware. We will never can have full feature of ICSFace unlocked, for example
I had to revert to cm7 based rom...gingerdx to be specific because minicm9 is still laggy, it do not support games and freezes all the time. TO me the biggest culprit was the video playback..its only good enough to show it off to your friends. but im eagerly waiting for full working version...... And there is minicm10 out already.. Its lightweight and smooth..but Both ROMs are similar in performance. you can try it out as well.
Help me!!!

just flash the ROM kernel (nAa, JB, ICS,,,,) and flash the ROM by CWM
'what type of error?
minicm9 is and always will be laggy and slower than minicm7 due to hardware limitations so why bother i have tried almost every rom in here and all are the same at first they are fast and nice but after a while they become slower and laggy so i think a lost my hope

if still the 2nd post above me solution does not work, first flash to stock firmware, flash the gingerbread kernel (alfs, naa) first, format /system, /cache, /data, flash the ics kernel of naa, and again, format /system,/cache,/data, if still, maybe haven't installed the right drivers for your x8, so go into the root directory of your Flashtool then go to drivers, you can manually install the drivers required by your device there for sure
Cm7
I would suggest you to stay on Cm7 cause it is more stable, less laggy, better performances and battery life.
Tried both MiniCM7 and MinCM9 and I must admit ICS is not for our device..:crying:.It lags most of the time and is very unstable.....I would rather recommend MiniCM10 over MiniCM9 any day....:good:but MiniCM7 is bug-less, stable and is for daily use......:highfive:
I would recommend CM7 if you expect performance out of your phone..... but if you need to be on latest androids CM 10 is good.....
But CM9 is very less stable in x8 it keeps on hanging and apps force closes.... CM10 is much better.

Thank you for the post. I was going to post similar question regarding good choices for daily use and just found it.
Mini CM9 is my first try and here are some info on my experience:
I was long time planning using a custom ROM/Kernel and my first choice was Mini CM9, because of all of its features and beautiful look. As other users mentioned, it was running VERY good for a while (maybe the first 2 or 3 days after an install or new install). Anyway, every time (I reinstalled it twice) it gets laggy and I get a lot of "Not responding" messages (Trebuchet and other apps). I've even lost some calls because of "Phone Activity" freezing.
Plus, I could not use wirelless networks using a public hot-spot with sign-in needed. Wireless networks always worked good while using Stock ROM/Kernel, by the way.
CM9 seems to be a very good ROM but, considering my own experience, it should not be for daily use as it was not as stable as I was expecting.
I am preparing my X8 to install a more stable Kernel/ROM and, If you guys excuse me, I would to ask you about the Mini CM7 and GingerDX ROMs. Please, if you tried both or even GingerDX only, let me know how was it.
Thank you guys! I'll let you know about my new ROM/Kernel choice as soon as I decide which one to install.

my w8 is pretty lagging these days ..i just switched to gingerdx and changed my launcher to the stock launcher that came with DX , it's smooth at the start but now it's lagging , my memory/ram is constantly below 12% which forces my app to FC due to low memory ..i guess my phone is lagging is also due to memory/ram problem too ..my memory currently is 24/175mb ram and 12/100% worth of it...it's very low...any idea of improving my ram?opening simple apps also have a 5second or more load time =( and it's has stability issues ...oh and is it advisable to go froyobread? i head it's smoother and more stable etc, is it true?i am only able to enter cmw now , xrecovery is buggy lately
Maybe its because you use stock kernel gdxv20 works better on alf v05
ohoh ~ i heard alot about kernels in this forum , but how does the kernel speed up the phone? is there certain kernels that are great for certain roms? how about froyopro ? is it a good rom / maybe better than dx?
GDX v20+ alfs v05 .On this kernel phone i much smother faste HD Games Work almost without lagg on 600mhz and other go on thread and see yourself
thanks ya! imma go check the threads for alfs 05!
I have no problem on Stock kernel both stock rom and GDX, I think you too many apps installed that is starting on startup, check also running services which need to be closed
i constantly close apps using watchdog premium sadly thou my memory always remains very low...abt 22mb only ..even playing videos is laggin ...how does the kernel affects the speed?

Hey guys,
I recently installed my first Rom onto my Xperia X8, i used Racht's Floyo 1.0 (2.2.5 build 1.5b) but i'm having some issues with this rom such as:
Android Market not working (i.e version that come with the rom, 2.3.4, 3.1.3 and 3.4.4) it continously Force Closes therefor i have to uninstall market updates and use original, but it continually updates itself to my frustration.
Lag issues, although its stated on Android Forums and on other sites that Racht's rom is the best rom to use, i have noticed a lot of lags and delays throughout this rom, most noticable when scrolling through menu's.
Everything else as far as i can tell works.
Any help would be great.

Hello guys
I need you help to decide either to stay to my stock gingerbread rom or root my phone and install cyanogenmod 9 on my Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000
Please tell me which one is more stable and better to use..
Thanks in advance
Should just go with Cyanogenmod 10 Nightly. I use my phone every day and get no random reboots, stability issues or incompatible features/apps. Everything seems to work great. I can't see much of a reason to use CM9 since CM10 works so well
I moved to CM10 from XXJW4 2.6.4 and have no plans on rolling back.

Go with CM10! very recommended!
if you want, here there is a tutorial that shows you how to ROOT
your Galaxy s1 stock ROM 2.3.4

I've been using CM9RC2 for a few months now and it's good. I find it a lot more stable and a lot faster than stock. However, I find I miss a lot of the small things about the stock ROM that just aren't in CM. The Contacts app is poor (can't link contacts, no Facebook integration) as is the stock Calender and the default music player that comes with it is atrocious.
If you can live with those, or are willing to pay for some appropriate replacement apps then I can definitely recommend going with CM
I'm always on gb, lately JW7 gb rom, ext4 format, Semaphore 2. 7.4. Reliable and fast.
Since a week I turned on a CM10. I like a lot, it's stable but very battery drainy and no faster than my previus gb JW7.
I think GB is still the best for our poor i9000...

I switched from Samsung GB to CM9 when it became stable mi-August (now I'm on CM9.1).
I don't plan to switch to CM10 until it is stable (or at least in RC stage) => and I hope it will become stable before 4.2 goes open source and pawitp starts working on next CM!
For me, my phone is much better with CM9: less reboots (I only had one in two months instead of one per week with GB).
My phone is generally more enjoyable: it is difficult to point specific functionnalities (there are many), but the user experience has been a big focus for Google in ICS, and the result is really great for me. I like stock applications a lot (even though contact app may indeed have less functionnalities than Touchwiz one). One the other side, I could not say if the phone is faster or not: so it your main concern is speed, the switch won't change much (unless you go with CM10 which is supposed to be faster). Main drawback for me is that MMS don't work anymore, but I guess it's a problem very specific to my case as I didn't find other people having my problem (and as I didn't use MMS a lot, I didn't take time to investigate heavily the issue).

Are you on some of the nightlies or on a stable?
Hi,
my lg p990 with the latest cm10.1 nightly is crashing all the time in a way that it doesnt work at all and drains the battery until you pull the battery out. i had this problem with cm10 and cm10.1 for ages and i dont know whats causing it. because of the way the phone crashes i dont have any logfile whatsoever. its just reallly annoying.
Any help ?
(pls dont answer like "did you turn the phone on?" or similiar non-smart questions, yes i did everything according to the "book", i also installed a lot of apps on the phone)

i never touched anything related to bootloaders (just used the standard one i guess...)
Did you use stock CM kernel?
I didn't tried the latest cm nightly, but cm kernel has a weird bug causing the CPU to stick at 1000mgz all the time.
Use some apps to see for yourself, cpu spy.
I use trikster mod app to properly set the cpu.
And I recommend avatar rom, it is like CM but has a suport/option for miui themes.
Rom is super smooth and has god memory menagement/multitasking, even the stock clock alarm hasn't failed me.
Sure it has all the known CM bugs like panorama not working, same kernel bug, ect. but it's stable.

Hey guys
So i am currently on the official ICS 4.0.4 V30A ROM by Civato 's awesome Flex Icer..
Got a bit bored of the LG things and all and wanted to try out CM10 (since 10.1 isn't stable). All i need is STABILITY.
As in no bootloops and Radios working perfectly etc (just the way this ROM works)
I haven't seen a clear cut answer till now regarding the stability of CM10 on SU660 KOREAN 2X.
If any of u have tried it out please let me know ur experiences and the stability too
Also tell me regarding Paranoid Android
One more thing
Will i be able to revert back to the ROM by mere flashing of ROM and the Kernel used with it?
Thanks

I don't know on su660, but I'm supposing it's at the same state as its brother p990, which I have.
If you're looking for stability, stick on stock ics. Cm10 is not totally unstable, but far from being totally stable. Hdmi doesn't work, and for Bluetooth you will have to flash pengus kernel. And that kernel is great, but bugged since it uses ramhack, so apps with hard gpu use crash, e.g. HDR camera every time you try to use it at 8mpx. And it makes the device reboot! I also had this behaviour using flipboard, dlna server or playing flash video on browser.
I make all these things systematically on dm1.4 with civz 2.3 kernel, and my device stays without a single boot for more than a week easily. This is stability.
Do not say "thanks"; just press it under here.
