I've been using Apex launcher for a few days and noticed that the phone has occasional lag/slow downs. While the stock launcher doesn't lag at all.
Both launchers are set up the same; number of screens, widgets, etc.
Just wondering if anyone else is using Apex launcher and how well it performs compared to stock for you
I'm on Elite 10.1 with midnight kernel.

I've been using Apex Pro for some weeks and also experienced some occasional little lags: wasn't completely satisfied with it and changed to Nova, resulting to be more fluent for me. (i'm on slim+semaphore)
You should try different launchers and see if it gets better with them
Just tried out Nova. It seems alot faster than Apex so far!
Only problem is a the homescreen is overlapping the dock rather than sitting above it. Can't find anything in the settings to fix it either...
Update
Never mind I fixed it.

Yep, got the same issue with Apex. For me Nova is better in terms of smoothness, but honestly, I kept comin back to Go launcher ex (it's more of a "habit" issue )
Apex us as fast as nova for me, strange. Make sure apex is a system app, or convert it with titanium backup, and check the keep in memory option in apex settings.
Using GT-I9000 my sent Tapatalk 2 from.
Apex launcher works well for me. Try the newest version.

I just wanted to know y'all s personal opinion on these lauchers. I and using darky 8.1 and the twlaucher on it is pretty satisfying but I am thinking about switching...
Please write about what you think is the best launcher.
P.s. I think this is a question but I'm not sure about general. So sorry if I put it in the wrong section

Currently using adw, was using lp for a long time. Main reason for adw or lp is the ability to customize the appearance if you're home screen.
I use launcher pro because it has the most features, after the most recent update 8.3 which has home screen animations. It also gives you a lot of dock custimization abilities (swipe actsions)
I would recommend using all three, and deciding since its a personal choice.
I tend to go with launcher pro since it does not allow to uninstall an app from home screen or from apps list.
Was using ADW earlier, but stopped using since the update that let an app be uninstalled with a long press on that in the home screen.
I'm currently using HeLauncher... pretty sweet!

I tried ADW launcher for a while but it just seemed, okay. I tried out GoLauncher for a few days but I kept getting FC on many apps. I am currently using Zema launcher and really like it.
Are other launcher like zeam, go, etc good too?

Launchers are in a way like roms. There are several good options and it is personal preference as towhich is best
I hate all of these aftermarket options. Stock Gingerbread launcher for me.

I'm currently using Zeam and really like it. I did really enjoy Go Launcher but I was having force closes, not sure if it was Go launcher or not but I haven't had any since I switch. If they update to remove some bugs, I may go back. LauncherPro was really good too. ADW seemed kind of drab to me but I'm not sure.
All about Zeam imo. Great light-weight launcher (actually makes the phone feel faster).
im a big fan of lightweight and minimalistic programs in general, even though i see my phone as quite powerful (SGS2) but the zeam launcher doesnt do it for me. scrolling in the app list is not even close to being as smooth as the LP, thats why im sticking with that one.

I use TWLauncher 4.5 and theres enough customization for everyone with Fr40gg0rs hacked version. Its way better looking than launcherpro and is just as fast. And I prefer the TW app drawer as well, which is also very custmizable..
What are your favorite Launchers? Only ICS please
Based on customization, smoothness, and eye-candyness
can I say GO LAUNCHER ??
The stock launcher. Gotta love those shortcut folders.

Nova launcher seems promising, but I would say trebuchet is a perfect fit for its stability right now.
Nova

Nova launcher
Nova has the best settings and stuff, so NOVA for me. I needs me my custom icons. Apex Launched will be promising though... it might even become better than NOVA. With the plans they have for it, Apex should become the CM9 Launcher. Why? Because honestly Trebuchet is sucking so much right now. You can hardly do anything with it and I haven't heard any news from it... If it is going to stay CM9 launcher it has major work to do.
Nexus S - CyberGR Hybrid ICS (5), Matrix Kernel (15)
Another vote for nova. Great launcher and only getting better

GO Launcher is by far my favourite of the ones I have used.
I have used ADW, Helix, LauncherPro and Zeam Launcher but have not tried Nova yet.
I really like launcher pro. Not very fancy but quite functional.
I'm using Nova, while it is very fast and smooth, it does have way too less customizations.
Apex is the fastest one then nova after that when apex gets a few more opinions it could be the beat of all of them right now Nova got more customization but apexs is faster
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
Definitely the Trebuchet launcher if not the stock one
Nova is my current pick. Custom icons, number of icons in dock, homescreen grid and resizable widgets are must-haves for me. I do wish there are gestures and more dock customization options, but neither of those are deal-breakers.
ADW Ex remains my favorite.
I've used Go, Claystone, Nova, trebuchet, QQ, Live Home, Regina 3D, and SPB, but ADW provides the smoothest operation, great customization, and the backup/restore function works great.

so far Apex Launcher for me...
minor side, some bugs on transparant drawer...
Launcher Pro
I also like Launcher Pro. It's not the best looking, but it has a wonderful set of features.
for me it is the 360 launcher
what is yours ?
I used Go Launcher EX for a pretty long time when i had an HTC Desire as it worked unbelievably smooth. Now that i've gotten a SGS it somehow isn't as snappy... But the features are the same so I'll be sticking to it untill I find some launcher with as much (or more) features and hopefully smoother working..
This is very subjective.... but I like the native launcher from ICS : Trebuchet
I would have to agree with terbuchet.

Nova launcher on ICS
Hi,
Launcher 7 for me.
on gingerbread:go launcher ex
on ICS:ıcs launcher
i dont know why but go launcher eating too much ram like yandex.shell in ics.(70-100 mb ram ***)
best launcher
for me is the apex launcher the best
the new Nova Launcher Prime - finally with appdrawer groups!
Have people tried ssLauncher? It may be a bit complicated at first but later it'll make sense. It has damn many settings and it's very unique. I switched to it from go launcher and I think it's lighter and faster.

Hello fellow SGN users,
Now that the official Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 has been released to SGN users primarily in Europe, I would like to find out if there are any alternative launchers that is compatible with ICS or more importantly launchers that strictly run on ICS?
I've seen NOVA and APEX launchers and going to give them a try so i was just wondering if any of you know of any other alternatives?
those are the best ics ones
been testing them both on and off myself, not sure which one i like best, but i dont like that i cant use the s-widgets with them i really like s-planner calender any alternative to that?
I hear GO launcher works.
I bought both Nova and Apex Launcher. I like Apex the best but they are very similar and are hard to tell apart.
Do Apex or Nova allow you to hide the dock?
I'm using ADW EX on 2.3.6 and don't use a dock.
I'm hoping some of the random lagginess switching between screens will disappear once I upgrade to ICS, but if it doesn't I might have to look for another launcher.
Thanks,
Rich

I am using ADW. I hate the "new" ADW EX. Flashed official ICS today. ADW ran awful. Very laggy. App drawer scroll kept hanging and the touchscreen was nearly unresponsive on the ADW screens. One widget kept failing to update as well.
Long story short, I flashed back to GB with Franco.kernel #10. Works flawlessly again!
I just don't see any improvement with ICS. Samsung's version looks like GB anyway.

I use GoLauncher EX of the simple reason that it enables 8 rows with 10 columns. I can't get that with either Apex or Nova (they limit at 7 x 7 at most).
GL EX is also pretty similar to good ole LauncherPro and since that has been a trusty launcher for a long period of time, I certainly prefer to have that functionality intact.
But I will give Apex a new chance immediately when 8 x 10 is enabled for the home screen since it is good otherwise but just 7 rows destroys my layout.
Almost without exception, any launcher that works on GB will work in ICS.
i tried nova and apex.. and they are good..
but i don't like them since i can't make folders on the app drawer...

Of the ICS themed launchers (tried Nova and Apex), I always go back to Nova cos it's smoother for me. Always notice slight jitters on Apex, which is a pity, cos I also quite like Apex's functionality.
(I'm using Nova Prime (paid)).
Apex Launcher as a system app. Damn good in here...

what's the difference between installing apex and your procedure?
Can any1 give me the link for the stock ics launcher? I don't want to have touchwiz or any other thing, just the pure android ics launcher
I am testing Miui Home Launcher, a lot of themes are avaible.
My favorite is Go Launcher ex and SS Launcher.

Hey there,
I have the next launcher and i'm very pleased with this launcher. He's very smooth and stable with lots of features for adjusting app and so on.. Try this one and i think you will agree with me that this is the one....
o boy..try both... and decide
They are similar but I found Nova better designed.

not all of us have the same settings on our phones so it's best to download and try both - you'll see which launcher suits you best...
I think Apex =)
I found Nova to be both smooth and good looking with many settings but then again... It´s very personal.
Apex

It all comes down to preference
Im using the NOVA launcher and Im very happy with it... of course, the pro version
Nova.....really smoother than apex and the main thing low memory usage....since our O2x ram is bottlenecking i would prefere nova over other launchers....:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
I recommend also nova, smoother than apex based on my own observation..
i found nova launcher also smoother on cm10

nova launcher is doing an excellent job right now on JB
I keep switching between nova and launcher7 depending upon the look I want
I confirm : Nova is very smooth
More than trebuchet and Apex !
i think apex is better
but you have to try it on yourself
Nova is much smoother on our phone and allows customizing the app drawer decorations color (the blue underline under tab names) without installing a theme.
It is a nice touch when you use transparency and want to match your wallpaper color.
NEXT Launcher, from the GO team Devs..I never saw better launcher after i installed NEXT..
It's on an early stage though, but there are many things to come, cause GO team will continue build new things for their apks..
Nova and Apex are both very nice launcher, if i have the choise i want use Nova launcher because you have more settings
