Hi all,
Sorry for posting such a noob-ish thread, but I am not familiar with Samsung or At&t (thank god). I am a Sensation 4G owner (rooted, s-off, ICS, etc) but my girlfriend has a Samsung Captivate. I would like to put a custom recovery and remove all of the ****ty AT&T bloatware. Problem is i stopped caring after i rooted her phone. I was getting the 3E error and didn't know a work around. So what should I do ? Any ROM suggestions as well?
At&t Samsung Captivate
Rooted - one click root
Android 2.2 Froyo
Kernal = 2.6.32.9
You will need to flash a kernel that contains CWM recovery. You can find one in the development section. Read stickies and guides also.
Read the stickies.....

Just bought a samsung galaxy s gt i9000m phone and so far I have done the 1 click root on it and installed rom manager , busybox and titanium backup. I have flashed the Clockworkmod recovery to the phone and looking to update my firmware to 2.2 if I'm able to.
Right now I am running firmware 2.1-update1 from bell and kernel version 2.6.29 darae.ahn Sep-20 #2 . Build Eclair UGJH2
I can get into recovery and download modes without a problem , would anyone mind letting me know what my options are for froyo 2.2 with this bell phone? Thanks alot in advance , looking forward to any replies and help with my questions.

Try the Doc/Kalpik rom. I'm running version 6. Simple to install, with no issues (for me anyways)
Xwjpa v7.6.2
Can I put this on my bell galaxy s ?
Choices are ..:: Current Releases ::..
XWJPA: V7.6.2
XXJPO: V7.6.2
I can't tell which would be better for my bell canada galaxy s gt-i9000m , any help appreciated !
I'm also running version 6 and it is awesome.
None of these roms were designed for the Bell phone so pick whichever one you want. There is a link on Docs first page that may help you decide which version to install. I have used a few of Docs roms and they all worked great on my m.
Sent from a Bell I9000m running Froyo.
Thx guys , did alot of reading and in the end I installed Docs XXJPO 7.6.2 on my bell samsung galaxy s gt-i9000m and its working great !! Only problem I have is it will not accept the lagfix that was reccommended in the read me , hoping someone can answer why to that , otherwise , great to be 2.2 !
Honestly, try it for a while without lagfix. I haven't used one and I notice no lag at all.
I already applied it , to be honest I wasn't seeing the lag but I wanted to get it over with rather than 3 days from now be on here asking about it. I am going to go thru the readme now to see some of the other goodies that were there to choose from and hopefully be done messing on the phone for a while ! I bricked my first galaxy s this week so being cautious with everything now !!!
hello i recently bought Samsung Galaxy S of kijiji only to find out that it has t-mobile 2.1 firmware and i was wondering if there is a official bell 2.2 firmware?

Emm if it has tmobile firmware on it, are you even sure its a i9000M ?
It could be the vibrant.
Also wrong section.

Hello everyone,
I'm fairly new to Android. I just switched from Blackberry, and i'm extremely glad that I did. I picked up a Galaxy S Vibrant (GT-I9000M). I'm currently in Canada on the Sasktel network.
I'm interested in trying out some custom roms (Darky's v10.0 RC5.3 seems to sound pretty good), but before I go do this, I have a lot of questions that I can't find answers for.
Firstly, i've read that custom roms should only be applied on "international" versions of the Galaxy S. Is this true? Why is that? Also, i have no idea how to tell if mine is an international version.
There are some instructions that say, "Don't install kernel with this version", or "don't install modem if you have a certain phone" It's a little confusing.. is the ROM not the kernel? It sounds like it'd be easy to brick a phone..
I've also read that the phone has to be unlocked. (mine is not unlocked). Is this a requirement before installing any custom roms?
Apparently, there are different methods to install roms (market apps, odin, saving files to SD card..) is there a preferred method?
If anyone can help with these questions to help get me started, i'd be most appreciative.

Hello all, i need help from you i9000 folks
My friend asked me if i could flash a newer android version on her i9000 that is still stock 2.3.3 , never rooted or flashed. I've owned a i9001 and i9300 so i'm familiar with odin and flashing of samsung devices, my only concern is that i've read a lot about losing IMEI and thus mobile signal. i've also read that it's not advised to flash to a JB version directly from stock 2.3, is that right?
So basically if i want to flash one of the 4.3 or 4.4 roms what's the procedure here? Are there any special steps/precautions before flashing over 2.3.3 ?

Basically , you need to follow how the Android OS was cooked, its froyo>GB>ICS>JB>Kit Kat, doing this will have all the ingredients, jumping from one to the other may lack some ingredients:laugh:
anyway, just follow this [Tutorial] How to Unbrick, Flash, Downgrade, Root, Update i9000 from Froyo to Kit Kat
