i need a keyboard like this any suggestions??? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have had so many ROMS installed I can't recall which rom had the keyboard I am looking for as well as if anyone can point me in the right direction. This is what I am looking for:
The keyboard basically when typing words showed corrections for misspelled words and it would replace. But the keyboard also put a red line underneath it just like office in windows and u can come back later and touch the word with red line underneath and it give u suggestions and correct it.
Any ideas or suggestions thanks in advance.!!!!

I tried swift before but it never put the red line underneath misspelled word.
It just makes it easier to find the misspelled word but I thank you for your suggestion maybe will try again in the meantime anyone else have a suggestion maybe it isn't a keyboard feature but feature in ICS and we can get an apk for it.

Its the stock ics keyboard. But sorry, i don't have the apk.

hmm will have to try cm9 anyway to get an APK of the keyboard from you?

ok i tired the one in CM9 and all it did was crash the keyboard. apparently it is not compatible with it or not digitally signed for the note or something to that effect. if anyone has any ideas.
I did lots of googles searches and no help there. some people are saying that the keyboard latinime.apk and the latindictionary apk are not even the program that does the red line its something else anyone with any knowledge in this can help thanks???

Sorry was busy for a while.Did you push it to system app and try???

Yeah I tired copying the apk and push in the app folder through root explorer, i also tried installing it normally. Funny thing is they both work and gets the keyboard working fine but problem is the spell checking portion with the RED LINE which i am looking for does not work.
hmmmm weird spent couple hours last night trying to figure it out searched google no luck. is there any other ICS ROM out there besides stunner and CM9 that would have this working?
I want to stick with NOTE ROMS cause i use the S MEMO stuff a lot. Thanks in advance again.

Gingerbread Keyboard (I can haz?)

Yes you can haz! Found this on Androidspin. Installed using instructions and it seems to work.
Off topic, but it is no longer considered funny on the Internet to say "I can haz..."
That being said, that is a pretty clean looking kb. If I was a fan of using the on-screen kb (read: if I didn't have fat thumbs), I'd definitely give that a try.

Hmm... I didn't get the memo on that. But I still think it's funny!
It's actually pretty functional. I use the on screen keyboard for quick texts and am using it right now. I still don't think it'll replace Swype or Swift Key. But it is a big improvement over the previous keyboard.

Is that the one with the fixed dictionary? There is one floating around that only pops up contacts and another that's fixed
Nevermind upon actually clicking the link I see that it does actually have the right dictionary and auto correct

HA HA! By the sounds of it before your time (I'm old!) They were a toy from the '80's, like Army Men but cartoonish ants. There's a thing going around on Facebook about posting cartoons from your childhood as your profile pic for some stupid cause (the cause isn't stupid, believing that changing your profile pic will do anything is but I thought it'd be fun). I'm surprised you didn't ask about Go Bots! LMAO! My search history can get weird sometimes. Good thing the porn didn't showing up!
Love the new keyboard, had a couple of issues though. It was laggy at first, but I reflashed, and now it's fast again, don't know whether reflashing it or rebooting fixed it, but whatever,
also, it doesn't seem to like the word "don't". The only way it will suggest don't is if I type dont exactly. If I type something close, such as domt or dobt or dony it suggests font. It just won't suggest don't. Anyone else having this issue? I'm running cm6.1-stable with a ported theme on it ):
EDIT: I added don't to the user dictionary, now it suggests it. Still odd that it doesn't by default.
sweet, thanks man

Are you guys trying to install as an app? It needs to be flashed from recovery. Other than that I can only suggest you redownload and try again.

To clarify, you are stating they should be using this while in recovery:
Code:
adb install whatever.apk
Correct?
Not abd install. It's a flashable .zip. Flash just like a ROM.
Edit: Looking into it further, the .zip contains a shell script that removes the old keyboard and an update script to install the new one and of course the apk. You can do this all manually through adb. There's a guy (Ryan) that commented the instructions in the linked article.

So if it's a flashable zip then it can be done in recovery without adb. Just select 'install zip from sdcard' go to the zip and install like a rom. At least that's what I get out of it being a flashable zip - I'll try it and see.
In the linked thread it states go into recovery and install .zip. not anywhere does it say extract or use adb there are instructions to do it that way and if your getting the error when flashing then you will indeed need adb

Yeah, but it only works on froyo, don't pull a stupid like I did and try to flash it onto an odexed sense rom xD Had to reflash my rom because it removed all of my .odex files and I couldn't boot.
ANYWAY, yeah for some reason, it won't predict ANY words with apostrophes in them. Only if I add them to the user dictionary. Very annoying, but I suppose at some point I will have added every word that I could possibly conceive using into the user dictionary. I think it has something to do with me having the User Dictionary for Better Keyboard installed, it was only for sense UI roms, but titanium restored it when I hopped onto cm6.1, so that may have been the issue. Since, I uninstalled that user dictionary app, but it's still happening. Oh well, I think it's worth it.
Hey, I'm new to this whole ROOTED/FLASH/MOD thing..
Just rooted my phone like 10 min ago...
So forgive me if this question sounds stupid.
Does this Keyboard work on a Rooted Slide running Android 2.1??
Its posted under MyTouch Slide, and since the MTS doesnt come with 2.2 (nor is there a 100% port of 2.2 for the slide that I can find) Then Im assuming this should work under 2.1 - but it seems to not work. I flash the .zip through recovery mode, but when I reboot the old Touch2.1 Keyboard is still there and no GB Keyboard is to be found

[MOD] Stop MMS in your Call Logs - JS5, JS7, KB1 Tested

Fix to Get Rid of the MMS Notification in your Call Logs
Apologies about the brief post earlier today, was at work and a bit of a hurry. Here is a more detailed method.
This was created from the JS5, i9000 source, but has been confirmed to also work on JS7 and KB1.
This will not remove exisiting notifications, but will stop new ones from popping up.
I do not take credit for the original fix, my source is listed below.
Clockwork Flashable zip file below to apply this fix, the steps are listed because I was asked for the process, but if you just want the mod, just flash the file at the bottom of this post.
This assumes you have knowledge of apkmanager or apktool to decompile the apk's, and notepad++ or another way to compare and edit the smali's. Those are lessons for another thread.
I happened upon this thread this morning over in Vibrant Q&A: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988929
Which led me here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853177 (Go Hit mammon88's thanks button)
-Grab the LogsProvider.apk from the Epic thread, second one linked, and decompiled using apkmanager.
-Move that file somewhere else, maybe even rename the folder, you won't need it again, and it will be the example folder/files.
-Take the LogsProvider.apk from your rom, and decompile with apkmanager or similar program.
-Inside the decompiled apk, using the one in the apkmanager folder here, not the Example Folder, browse to \smali\com\sec\android\provider\logsprovider, and open the LogsProvider.smali with notepad++ (that what I recommend using)
-Now from you Example Folder, drag the corresponding smali file to notepad++, and it will be in a new tab.
-In notepad++, hit Plugins->Compare->Compare, and the differences in the files are highlighted.
-Recreate the edits in the example to your main file, and save.
-Recompile the apk being sure to delete the classes.dex in the process.
These steps may/will work for comparing and editing other files, but be cautious. I didn't go in blindly and say "Eureka" on the first differences I saw. I compared every smali and xml, being cautious in editing, and got lucky on my first shot. Thankfully this apk only has a handful of smali files, first one I've ever decompiled that had less than 40. If you follow my steps, don't hold me responsible if it doesn't work, especially if you failed to make a backup.
The zip below is flashable via Clockwork Recovery. Backup as always, cause hey, it happens.
*Hits the thanks button when I get home*

Thats interesting. I thought that Bionix 1.3.1 was KB1 (Android 2.2) based. Well hell, as long as it works, although be on the lookout for the odd issue or two, as this was sourced from the European i9000 JS5 port, and is all I've tested it on. Thx for the confirmation.

Trying to Port an I9000 Rom, running into the home key issue.

Hi Devs,
I am trying to port an awesome rom from the i9000 forum, it's Surface 2.1. I've got everything working fine w/ Talon 0.4.3. But I cannot figure out how to get the home button to work, let alone haptic feedback. I've tried messing around with the Services.Jar file but I couldn't get anything working.
I've seen a thread about the haptic fix for jvp but I don't know if it will work in JVQ. I was hoping a dev could chime in and let me know what I need to do.
Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this.
Thanks,

Edit: this will get you the home button fix. but no haptic.
sorry pal
You want to go to into the system/user/keylayout/melfastouchkey and add
Key 102 HOME "And like WAKE-DROPPED or something I cannot remember"
That will give you the home key for the Captivate.

If you read xcaliburinhand's kernel thread, he has a zip in there you can flash to fix the home button. Or you can unzip it to put it directly in the ROM. Worked when I ported H&F. Thus is non-aosp right?

I keep fiddling around with my phone and roms and therefore, the first thing I do is keep stock stuff handy, just in case!Where I get them---from my stock myself using root explorer, simply copy and past the app folder to a safe place for use on a rainy day like the one you are having now,he he..
Coming to the point on hand,I guess you refer to the Samsung keypad and that is now attached.
Incidentally, just for your info---these are from deodexed JVT stock and should pretty much be the same for any other GB stock as well.
More cheers!
Well I was stupid and forgot to take a full backup (I normally take backup of _everything_), but luckily you came to me riding a white unicorn and saved my rainy day!
The Music app works flawlessly! Ahh.. /me is happy.

[PORT of sort] ASUS Transformer Browser

Hey folks, this is my first time messing around with apks so I thought I'd share this.
After playing around with my mother's Transformer I became rather fond of the thumb scroller in the browser so I've taken it for myself.
Anyways, I know its not much but its a nice accessory to the browser - especially when up against long pages.
Be sure to keep copy your current browser in a safe place should something happen.
Here's the link
http://www.mediafire.com/?110eabgnidd9bdc
just installed this - working fine, and I like the thumb browser.
I have lost all my browser favourites.... which for some odd reason won't sync themselves back....
other than that, perfect.
That's odd, that was the first thing I double checked as I didn't want to lose my bookmarks. Being a Google sync thing I didn't think that should happen at all.
This Browser is pretty fast. Works fine here too, also no issues with my bookmarks! Thanks

Unfortunately, rubio, I'm not sure but looking it up I've found that if the name of the apk has changed that could cause it so make sure it says "browser.apk" and if you are installing it from your SD card make sure it's installing from the internal memory. I hope that helps.

might not work because i have honeycomb and not ICS?
That could be it as it's compiled from the ics framework.
