So after having the broken out zv8 ROM I forgot to rename the otacerts.zip so needless to say I went through the lgnpst method of going back to stock zv8. had to make a call before I rooted and when I ended the call the phone rebooted itself and installed the update. :-( well now I have root but no cwm. tried All other previous methods and no go. anyone have cwm on zv9? Any info or links on how to get it? Please help! I miss my overclocked kernel and beats audio and ICS responsiveness. much love to all the droid developers and contributors
I used the AIO from the 'Easy V8 all in one' thread in the development section. See my remarks there. Bottom line i ran the AIO option for root and cwm even though I was already rooted. Didn't affect root and put cwm back on my device.
Sent from my VS910 4G using xda premium
Use the same method used to keep root from v7 to v8, create the local.prop file then try the v8 aio.
thank you guys! flashed the blitzkrieg kernel and it worked also, didnt have to create any local.prop file tho. now waiting for our dev. mtmichaelson to release a custom zv9 ROM so i can finally have a decent phone again
This is what I keep getting even though I am rooted.

I've spent 2 full days, from about 10 am to after midnight, trying to get CWM back on my phone. Glad to hear the it works with V9, just wish I could get it to work on mine. I've given up on it for a little while. I found a way to install beats without it and don't need it for supercharger. I even copied and pasted the thunderbolt files... not sure if it did anything.
That's one way around it. have you tried the local.prop trick? You have to create the file, reboot, check to see if the file stuck, then use the v8 aio. It took a few tries to get cwm on my wifes phone and that was after a few fact. Resets.
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA
The local.prop file is in the data folder. I went back to v7 and added it before upgrading to v8. Then the upgrade to v9. Even tried to add the file after the upgrade.
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA
Jeff's method is what worked for mine. didn't need the local.prop. used lgnpst to flash back to v7did the update then used djrbliss's esteem root and the aio from Jeff's post. no need for the local.prop on mine for some reason. good luck all! I hope mtmichaelson offers up a broken out zv 9 soon. again thank you to all the devs out there who make our droids open source. the way they should be
use the LG_Esteem_Root_V2_windows. thats what i used to get cwm to stay.
Somebody please tell me if I need to downgrade to zv8 in order to have cwm because I've tried cubes adb method and the revotoolkit and both have failed. Please Help ME!!

I was unsuccessful in my search so I am posting my question in this QA forum.
The original thread was in the Revolution Android Development subforum but I am unable to post on that thread as I am a useless noob.
I have a LG Revolution Android version 2.3.4
I followed the directions as posted:
How Do I Root and Install CWM?:
1) Download zip and extract
2) Install drivers if not already installed
3) Click root.bat and watch the magic!!!
I unzipped and was able to update drivers
I was sure to have the USB debugging on (before connecting).
I also set the the USB connection to Internet connection
I clicked root.bat and the following line is repeated almost every other line
'adb' is not recoginized as an internal or external command
At the very end it says:
[*] root complete, enjoy!
[*] Press any key to continue..
When I try to open Titanium backup or Barnacle it says I do not have root
A few other things I'm noticing is that I keep getting usb device not recognized when connecting the phone via usb.
I also noticed a LG software upgrade assistant in my PC tray that I cannot remove.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
With adb not recognized it sounds like you just ran the root.bat without extracting the zip extract the zip to a folder the click on root.bat
Sent from my VS910 4G using xda premium
Yes, I believe I just unzipped the file and clicked the root.bat. Where do I extract the file to?
Thanks for your response.
Doesn't really matter you just need to extract it you can make a new folder and extract to that
Sent from my VS910 4G using xda premium
Beamer, that certainly did the trick.
Confirmed rooted with access to Barnacle and Titanium.
Now I need to figure out the Gingervolt process. Only about 75 more pages to read through.
Lol if you have clockwork mod recovery just download gingervolt put it on your sd card boot into recovery hold power button down and volume down at the same time until you get to the black screen asking to wipe data or something like that hit the power button to confirm this will not wipe your data but will boot into recovery once in recovery use the volume keys to navigate and power button to select then follow all of the directions in the 1st post every step is important.

You are now rooted, I would install CWM and do a back up before doing anything else though.
Sent from my VS910 4G using xda premium
Do I get CWM from the same file as the root?
If so, I did run the "CWM Recovery" from that file. Is that what you mean?
I also see that I am rooted, I downloaded the titinium backup and was able to uninstall a lot of Verizons app that I never use.
Anything else good to do with a rooted Revo?
Gingervolt it !!!! 2.0 is real good & removes all of the bloat. If you find yourself missing anything from the stock that youo want, get the "Stock app installer" & reload what you want...

Thanks very much for your hints.
I did not unlock the bootloader.Because the tutorial said like the following:
28/3/2012
Added V4 of the Doomlord Exploit as may be why XL was rooted without bootloader being unlocked.well i relocked my bootloader and flashed ruu 1.05.404 then I used Doolord V4 to root my phone. This was succesful in permanently rooting my phone without unlocking my bootloader. This was not possible with V2 so if anyone wants to root without unlocking bootloader this is now possible using V4 of the Doomlord Exploit attached below. PLEASE NOTE THAT STILL NEED TO UNLOCK BOOTLOADER TO FLASH CUSTOM ROMS AND RECOVERY
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then, i will try to unlock the bootloader, then try this software agian!
Vielen danke!

Hi, the above method worked for me previously but on GB, I don't think will work with the ICS update.

The ****ing adb drivers just dont workkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!
my droid 3 was previously rooted with no problem. i had the liberty rom on it, with safestrap, after a software update forced itself onto my phone, it pushed my phone between the root and unroot process. like it was trying to flash the stock rom back onto the phone and ended up with a mix of both. i was stuck in a setup screen and the only way to get my phone back to use was to factory reset my phone.
well now after the software update and all of that mess my phone will not root again! ive tried motofail and petestoolkit and neither worked. it told me it could not push the su, super user and busybox files onto it. it was able to edit local.prop. weird i just need a way to root my phone again, im guessing its the software update that is blocking it. it was update 5.5.1_84_d3g-66_m2-10
anyone know another method of root that my phone will allow? id think since its kind of an old phone there might be a solution :/
please and thank you

I fail in installing Blackrose. This is what I did:
- root my phone using the newbee guide on this forum
- downgrading to hboot 1.13 using the S-Off guide on this forum
- S-Off using revolutionary
My phone is now S-Off, hboot 6.13.1002, revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4
With USB debugging on, phone connected, I am running BlackRose_IS.exe with the following result:
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
* Waiting for device... *

I assume you're still on stock rom, to get BlackRose installer going you need a rom with unsecured boot.img. Try to flash CM7 and then to run installer.
Thanks nlooooo!

I also tried this one:

But it closes for some odd reason
Any idea what the problem is? or any other tools recommended?
never mind, problem solved - got it rooted

Yes, I'd really like to know as well. Looking into rooting my wife's D4, but I've never messed with Moto's before. Always had an HTC phone, so rooting was quite simple for me.
Hi, rooting process for droid 4 ics is quite simple too.. Just install drivers properly and use "droid 4 ICS tool". No worries.
