Right! I've just ported the blindndumb rom Blind Smoke (Mooke OS) to the IncS and have been testing it for the last couple of days - works almost perfectly! (the only thing out if the button backlights - any help would be greatly appreciated!)
Credit where it's due:
I done very little work on this and really the credit has to go to szezso (for the 'Incredible v1.0' rom - the base for my port and a beautiful job all by itself (that in turn was based on CyanogenMod 7.2 rc2, so big hugs there too)) and to blindndumb for the Blind Smoke rom.
Oh also, the guys behind the kitchen. Totally awesome work and makes it a pleasure to port stuff!
Anyway, without further ado... Incredible Smoke!
http://www.mediafire.com/?6obt7c7i7mlw884
I'll try to do screen shots soon but a quick flick over to blindndumb's site has some good shots already (click here). It is a beautiful rom and has a load of really nice features. My new favourite!
Oh, and for the button lights there's this:
Download the attached zip (backligh_files.zip - credit to kimifan316 for the files!)
Install a terminal emulator from the play store.
Next, copy the files in the zip to system\etc
Now, go change the properties on both the files to include execute (in esfile explorer this is done via long press, properties, change then tick execute for all users).
Now launch your terminal app.
in here type:
cd system
cd etc
su
sh bklights_init.sh
This is only temporary until someone can help me fix it properly
Here's the video can't seem to embed it here somebody help

Install the superuser app and all should be well.
I have to say that the rom looks really nice and also very smooth.
I only can't manage to copy the files in the zip file to /system/etc.
When I do that I get a message that it has failed to copy.
It looks like I don't have the persmission to do that.
Does anyone know how to copy these files to /system/etc?
Good point about installing superuser - I forgot to mention it in the post. I'm still quite new at this but I'll try and stick superuser in by default with the next version...
Looks good , How about the battery life ?
Maestro, ensure you have installed superuser for root access and enabled writing to system. In es file explorer this is done by hitting settings, scrolling to the bottom, turning on root explorer and mount file system... Let me know if it still doesn't work.
thx a lot! it helped. I wasn't aware of the settings in es file explorer.
So the lights do work now.
Only thing I experience is a kind of a delay when light turn off and on. So when turning off the screen the buttons stay on for a few seconds and then turn off. Also when turning on the screen again the buttons will turn on after a few seconds. But the behaviour is not always the same.
But it's not a big deal cause they do work! I just wanted to share.
Thx again!
Does this rom support wifi hotspot?
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
Battery life seems pretty good to me I easily get through a day with quite a bit of juice remaining...
Wifi hotshot and tethering are supported but I don't use either so can't vouch for their performance...
Decent rom fast and stable!! Check out the video in second post!! Only of there were enough themes to mess with and my device is showing desire s!! Please fix that!! And a few other places where language is still Chinese!!

hope you dont mind. good work wish you the best with the rom
Edit: Let me know how it works
Cool, thanks for that. I've sorted out the naming bits in the next release but I'm still working on the backlights before I upload it. Also think I have the su access in there by default now too... Hopefully be able to upload soon.
when trying to copy to system\etc folder the es file explorer says copy failed what am i doing wrong
also am i supposed to unzip the zip file?
See this one for how to write to system/etc: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26513213&postcount=9
And yes, it needs to be unzipped.

Okay so I've made a custom theme pack for myself, now I just need to know if there's a program out there, for un-rooted users, that will allow me to manually change each existing icon myself? If anyone knows of such a program please reply with it, including some information on where I could find the program.
Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to help out, there's a couple quid in it for the 1st successfull program/method that works exactly how I want it to.
Please note, I don't particularly want to edit each file .apk manually to change its icon =D
How many views and no one wants to make any money?
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
It is not possible to change something like the icons without root as it would need access to modify the apk files
Okay so given that I'm looking for a nice simple 1 click root, once found what would be the cards in the deck then?
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
You could change the shortcut icon on the homescreen for example with a program called anycut, or the paid one called bettercut
Otherwise you will need root acses
Edit: Or (Don't know if this works someone might need to correct me ) if you get each apk of the app you want to change the icon on, just open the apk and replace the icon
EDIT2: Nvrmnd read the first post slowly
I've already sussed out the homescreen icons and yeah it makes a massive difference to me, but idealy I want every icon changing to the way I want it, is there a 1clickroot method for Hero?

Hmm... Umm... I got two methods that im not sure if they'll work, first search the market for androot (i think) and try root it that way, second download ROM Manager from the market and install the clockwork mod recovery, there the closest ways to 1 click i think

Obviously you've rooted your Hero? What method did you use, I'm all for the confusing methods, I'm just not that familiar with ADB and the commands and what my phones running or what 'MOD' I'm currently on. It's all a lickle hazy to me as of right now, hence why I'm willing to pay someone for their precious time =D

First thing, could you go into (on your phone) Settings, ABout phone, Software infromation and then write what it says under Firmware version
Hey I've got to go for a bit now
I reccomend looking here seems simple
http://theunlockr.com/2010/10/11/how-to-root-your-android-phone-superoneclick-method/
And that should work
Now we're down to business! 2.1-update1, I done that myself =D lol then I updated something else to 3.35.61.2 if this is to any use =S
Hehe I can't keep up anymore. It's such a long time since I rooted my phone I have no idea what I did Anyways the trick is to let out what you don't need. Software number etc. often doesn't matter. It's pretty easy actually. When you get root you can very easily install a recovery. Basically you just download Amon_RA from the dev section and type in some basic commands in a terminal emulator on your phone AFAIK (that is when you have gained root which you hopefully can with a one-click method) and then you can start modding flashing etc.
ADB is really easy to set up. You download the zip file from here, extract it and (I recommend) put the extracted folder on your system drive. Now you can rename it to something easy like "adb" or "Android". If you open your command prompt by typing in "cmd" in the search bar in start (if you're using Windows Vista or 7) or opening "run" and then typing in "cmd". You can now type in "cd yoursystemdrive:\thenameofthefolder\tools" and start using ADB commands. Like adb ls -1 system/app (this will list all your system apps. You can replace "system" with "data". Thos will list all your installed apps) or adb pull nameoftheapkyouwanttoedit.apk \adirectoryyouwanttocopyitto (this will copy an app you want to modify. To modify it you can extract with WinRAR or 7zip etc. and edit the images (except the ones that ends with ".9.png")) and at last adb push \thedirectorythemodifiedapkisin systemordata/app (this will put the modified apk on your phone).
Hope this helps a little

I'm making this thread to avoid confusion now that there is a working port.
Well just heard back from xxbabiboi228xx and trock79 apparently will be using parts of his rom in the future, but until then.
Here is my port, everything seems to work and I do not intend on maintaining this. Hope this works out for anyone who wants it.
This is a straight port of xxbabiboi228xx's rom! I did not have anything to do with the development of this rom and take no credit for doing so, only for making it work on the inc.
build 1
http://www.multiupload.com/JGRRQM38KZ
build 2
http://www.multiupload.com/8N9XY7CHPN
build 3
http://www.multiupload.com/FWNZYAQB6T
Changlog:
build 2:
Cleaned up the sprint stuff and added the gingerbread keyboard. Htc keyboard still there by default. Also added the htc lock screen back with an optional download for the vanilla lockscreen in the first post. You can try a flash over and it should work, but I recommend a full wipe, quite a bit was changed. Let me know if flash over works out if you try. Trimmed 10mb's off.
build 3:
Updated to new host rom (xxbabiboi228xx' 2.4) Changed battery indicator to vertical green with percentage (gingerbread style). Theme changed a little bit here and there.
Integrated rosie right key setting (internet icon still present after change) and notification toggle widget changer (PowerControl settings)
No more bootloop on first boot (you don't have to wait to see the lockscreen twice anymore)
New clean and simple bootanimation, very nice in my opinion
bugs known:
4g settings and sprint apps are still present
Other than that, nothing else that I know of
I have tested:
browser
phone
mms and sms
wifi
bluetooth
gps
market
camera with flash
camcorder (720)
mail and facebook sync
Just to be clear I do not intend to maintain this rom. If anyone else wants to take over from here, great! Its a really nice looking rom for sure. I only did this because it was requested and I liked the look of it. The rom runs great, check it out!

@synisterwolf: Doesn't say Sprint for me, that is, if you meant the Operator Name/Logo. As br125 mentioned though, the Sprint apps should be present in the ROM. I hope that answers your question?
@Lsdozer: The easy answer to your question is, edit the file called, widget.txt, to your liking.
The file resides in system\customize I believe.
Unfortunately, the tool br125 posted, is only for the Cyanogen ROMs I think. And for the life me, I have been unable to effectively change that text file, using Root Explorer, ES Explorer, and SUManager. People swear that this is the easiest task to take care of, but for me, I have tried it all, when trying to edit from within the phone, and nothing has worked. If you consider editing the file on your computer and push it to your phone, one thing to consider is that I read somewhere that the file has to have a UNIX signature on it, for it to work. This is the reason why I was adamant to try to edit the file, while it was on my phone, well... that and because I have no idea how to push files using ADB or something to my phone... Hope this helps, please let me know if it works for you. If it does, please post what you did, thanks!
On separate notes guys, does anyone know how to restore haptic feedback to the lockscreen, when unlocking? The original ROM came with the Sense the lockscreen, as default, but I believe br125's port defaults to the Vanilla lockscreen.
Other things we can think about is:
1. Figuring out which kernels are working out well on the ROM, since it has now been ported to the Incredible.
2. Maybe getting that Gingerbread keyboard on here ?
Thanks once again to br125, Babiboi, and, trock79 as well!
I will take a look at gettin haptic working for you, i took out the htclockscreen when I ported it and forgot to add it back in. xxbabiboi228xx said that he will be releasing 2.4 tonight most likely and I'll have some free time tomorrow that I could possibly add in his changes/fixes.
As for kernels, any inc. sense kernel will (should) work. ie. incredikernel, heyitslou's kernel etc.
I've flashed Lou's kernel and it works great, I'm currently at 77% and been using it off the charger for about 7 hours or so
edit: the notification toggles shouldn't be hard to get the 4g outta there and add more useful things and I'll put the gingerbread keyboard in there if it works when I take a look at it. Basically I wanna clean up all the sprint leftovers and make it not seem like a port

Sounds great Sir! You are the man !
BTW, I tried getting some of the GB keyboard flashed over into the ROM, from the forum. Maybe it's my luck, but I have never actually gotten a single keyboard flashed successfully through to recovery. Whether it was the EVO or the DInc, same results...
This was no exception of course ...

NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Netflix has Disabled Device Check and you can now Install straight from Market without any Hacks.
I tested and it works on my Nook Color CM7 7.0.3
For people that still have issues though, I'll leave up the HowTo.
Since people aren't looking through the Netflix App thread for the HowTos that I and other people are posting here is my HowTo.
HowTo guide for those that don't understand what build.prop is.
Android 2.3 ROMs(CM7 Stable, Phiremod, ect...)
ro.product.model=Nexus S
ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
CM7 nightlys + Android 2.2 ROMs(Stock, Froyo, ect...)
ro.product.model=HTC Vision
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
Just make sure you backup your build.prop file before editing just in case you need to switch back.(Copy it somewhere and rename it build.prop.bak)
For Newbs:
-Remount /system as RW using Root Explorer (Open Folder then press button at the Top)
-Backup the /system/build.prop to /system/build.prop.bak (In Root Explorer just Copy it and Paste in the same place)
-Edit the file /system/build.prop with a text editor (Hold down in Root Explorer for Popup then tap "Open in Text Editor" )
-Replace each line with it's above replacements
-Make sure there are no extra spaces at the ends of lines as that can cause problems
-Save the file
-Hard Reboot
TaDa! Netflix Works!

Cool beans. Question, though: Can I download a movie from Netflix so I can watch it offline? Like on a plane? I know from my TV there is an option, basically, to start watching a movie, stop watching, and you then have 24 or 48 hours, or something, to finish watching it. And then I guess it self destructs, or something.
If you can't do this, I wonder why anyone would give a crap about watching a movie on their WiFi-only Color Nook. Most people have a TV or at least a laptop with a bigger screen...
Worked like a charm! Thanks
Desperate to find out if you NetFlix will actually stream the file to your CN and then you can watch it whenever you want, or, perhaps there's a time limit. My guess is not, but it works like that when streaming to my Blue Ray player at home. If it can;t do this, I really don't see much value in having this service. Big deal. I can watch a movie on a small screen with my 46" TV in the next room, or my 15" inch laptop 2 feet away. I want it for plane rides, where I won't have internet access.
Awesome- now to see if netflix works on Galaxy tab and use its info to hopefully get HQ
Not working for me.
Have CM7.0.0 with Android 2.3.3. So I tried the "Nexus S" and "samsung" thing first. Hard rebooted. Installed the APK. Tells me the device is not supported.
So I tried the "HTC Vision" and "HTC" ones next. Rebooted, cleared the data, removed and reinstalled the app. Still getting the same error.
Confirmed the build.prop file changes are saving properly. Not sure what went wrong for me.

What the hell?
I have date and time manually set. Didn't matter if I turned on network time. I am on satellite internet, so wondered if it might be a signal latency issue?

If your like me, and like old school droid programs but cant get them to install on new age devices here is one. This is the Car Home apk for anyone that would like to use it. Install as you would any apk. If you run into any problems side load it from something like dropbox or push via ADB. Once you install both the launcher and the car home apk then boot into clockwork recovery and fix permissions, reboot and you should be good.
If you use and like hit the thanks button!
Just Asking Whereabouts of APK
Where did you get these from? I had a version of Car Home 2.2.1, but the icon looks the same as the Car Home I've seen in other ROMs. The icon with the 2.2.1 you have is different. Though I found it funny the need for the launcher. Because up until now I never needed it before to get Car Home working, but now just installing Car Home is not enough to get an icon on the list. Weird, but go with what works. But I am also a man who likes to understand where things come from or to understand. I try not to just be a follower.
Thanks for the find though, always nice to have a trusted source like XDA to share or find wanted items like this!

I ripped one from a droid 1 and the other from a droid 2 that i had a while back just optimized the images inside so they would work on the TB and not force close, glad you like, that is what this community is all about.

Pardon, but what do you mean by "fix permissions"?
Sorry haven't been on this site for a while. In CWR there is an option to fix permission which aligns all the permissions for all apk in a rom, hope this helps.
Thanks for posting this. I had Car Home on my Nexus One, but it was absent from my Galaxy Nexus. Since I've packed up my Nexus One to sell, you saved me from having to pull it. ;-)
awesome glad you like. I ported over to the galaxy nexus too

Yeah thanks for this man. Just loaded it on to my TB running Forever and it works great, I didn't even need to fix permissions or reboot.
Thanks always wanted to try using this

thanks !!
strange, I can't install it from the Market, had to install from the APK.
Just want to say thanks. I've been using this link after every new rom flash. Probably downloaded them at least 50 times.
Thanks!
Is this the same one by Google, the one that came with the Nexus S 4G????? Reason I ask is because I liked that one, but because of carrier crap, I can't use it on my HTC Holiday...
Thanks! Works great...

thank you, exactly what i wanted
htc desire hd revolution 7.0.0
Signed up just to be able to say Thank You!
Just installed on Liquid's ICS leak, works great.
I have a Nexus S, but I'm thinking that doesn't matter too much here. I am brand new to the root scene, so pardon my ignorance.
I have used ASTRO and ES file managers but cannot move the launcher.apk to /system/app/, I get an error. Unknown exception.
I tried going into CWM recovery and "fix permissions" but that didn't help... i was thinking it was a permissions thing with the directory i'm trying to move it to. Can anyone help?

The home button no longer returns my phone to Car Home when in car mode as of JB 4.2 for me. Anybody know of an update or fix?
This mod allows for mirroring in landscape mode using the MirrorService.apk from Photon. Output is scaled up from the native resolution up to 1080p if your display supports it.
I am still in the process of trying to better package this so it will not wreck havok on existing installs. Any updates will be posted here.
Flashing this will likely result in problems for you, so be warned, it's not for the faint of heart.
-you must wipe data
-restoring apps with TiBu will likely not work
-could possibly break market installs / updates
-this will NOT work on CM7
-webtop will not be available over HDMI
Here's a link to the CWM flashable zip:
http://96.126.112.115/HDMI-landscape-0.1.zip
I have personally tested this with Aura Rom 1.2.2.2 Deblur, but I have no reason to believe it won't work on other blur based roms.
Standard disclaimers apply-- Not responsible for data loss or if your phone catches fire etc.
Update 11/16/2011: It seems like this can be more reliably included in a rom vs. being added later due to the nature of how the mirror service works. I have successfully modified a version of Aura to include this and have been running it with much fewer issues over the past few days.
Method 2: This is the exact process I have used most recently. It resigns your entire rom to avoid any signature mismatch related issues.
You will need:
Apk Manager
A copy of your ROM zip file
a program to modify the contents of the zip (WinRAR, 7zip, etc.)
HDMI-landscape-FilesOnly-Atrix.zip containing all the files needed to get mirroring working
Instructions:
1. Extract Apk Manager to a folder somewhere
2. Extract all the apks from your ROM (/system/app for most, Aura has these in /debloat/app), be sure to include /system/framework/framework-res.apk and the provided MirrorService.apk, to the "place-apk-here-for-signing" folder where you extracted Apk Manager.
3. Delete all the apk's in the "place-apk-here-for-signing" folder that should not be resigned. (Music.apk, Maps.apk, Superuser.apk, Gmail.apk, Youtube.apk, etc)
4. run Script.bat in the Apk Manager folder and run option 16.
5. Drag all the apks you just re-signed back inside your ROM zip file to overwrite the existing files. (don't forget that framework-res.apk needs to go in the /system/framework folder)
6. Copy the remaining needed files inside the HDMI-landscape-FilesOnly-Atrix.zip to their corresponding location in your ROM zip. /system/lib/ & /system/framework need the following files:
/system/framework/com.motorola.android.iextdispservice.jar
/system/framework/com.motorola.android.imirrorservice.jar
/system/framework/com.motorola.android.inativehdmiapis_v1.jar
/system/lib/libmirrrorjni.so
/system/lib/hw/overlay.tegra.so
7. You can now flash your modified ROM image!
This method will leave you with a working Webtop if your ROM already included the option to allow webtop over HDMI.
Be warned, using the webtop will very likely cause the mirroring to malfunction until you reboot your phone. As long as you don't use the webtop in a given boot, the mirroring works great.
Will you post your version of Aura with the mirroring enabled? or will you wait for diviance to update aura?

I have PM'd Diviance, still waiting to hear back. Didn't want to put anything out there without permission. Nottach has it in the latest DarkSide rom.

is it the completely debloat edition? if so, can you PM it to me as well? i personally don't like dark themes ROMs, as awesome as Darkside is.
@starwarrior,
Great job, first of all!
Did you (or anyone else) find some of the instability included not being able to install specific apps, or move apps to sd without hot reboots?
Just curious to see what your experience has been. If not, please let me know what ROM and process you used exactly.
Thanks.

great job mate, just wondering if webtop over hdmi still works with your modified apk? i read the other thread a bit but didnt really find a conclusive answer. thanks
Nice finding Starrwarrior! Just CWM flashed hdmi-landscape.0.1.zip on my atrix and still can't believe HDMI landscape mirroring works Even if it's at a lower res than 720p You just made my cellphone one hell of a of awesome purchase !
Since I got a day off today, I'll try the resigning method on the alienv4 rom and hope that in the end, webtop over HDMI, HDMI landscape mirroring, webtop2sd AND weptopscripts can all coexist on atrix with this rom.
One question though: do you mind if you list every apk (except for Music.apk, Maps.apk, Superuser.apk, Gmail.apk, Youtube.apk) you excluded from resigning please ? Even though it's from a different rom, I am taking a shot through the dark here lol.

Those are the only Google Apps that I know of that generally get updated. As a rule of thumb, if it is updated via the market it would be a bad idea to re-sign it. Worst case scenario you can just adb push the original one back to your phone from your ROM's zip.
Totally awesome Starrwarrior!!!
Will try Method 2 on the first chance I have!
Cheers!
Rayan
Thanks for the feedback starrwarrior. Although I went ahead before looking at your post and avoided resigning MOST of the apks except the blur ones lol...
I can now confirm that modding alienv4 with your second method makes webtop over HDMI, HDMI landscape mirroring, webtop2sd and webtopscripts work altogether on my Bell Atrix (after fixing the RAM issue, but for me I had it only happen on the stock ATT gingerbread and the alienv4 rom; it didn't happen on CM7 BaT2). As long as webtop wasn't booted before using HDMI mirroring, it's smooth sailing for me.
(edited after further playing with modded alienv4 rom)
I realized I broke google market (no big deal, just reflashed old version of gapps) and every blur-related app (maybe a big deal because of the following sentence -_-)
I also broke ringtones/notifications (in settings --> sounds, phone doesn't detect ANYTHING and I can't assign ANY ringtones/notifications; I even tried RingDroid and Ring Commander and I get a FC every time...)
I'll admit I just blindly followed the 2nd method though.
(edited again after redoing starrwarrior second method of rom editing of alienv4)
I just ONLY EXCLUDED resigning gmail.apk, maps.apk, superuser.apk and youtube.apk. I resigned the rest of the apk in the alienv4 rom.
Now I have ringtones back and I can finally reassign them. Webtop over HDMI, webtop2sd, webtopscripts AND HDMI landscape mirroring (still at a lower res than 720p though) still work althogether. I'll play with this modified rom for a while and reediting my post after a few more days.
If all's well, I'll try to PM kennethpenn afterwards, even though I read that he doesn't have the time to support this rom anymore
You are the Atrix HDMI mirror GOD!
Is there any chance that this mod will be applicable to a stock ROM (preferably without completely wiping it) at some point or is it looking like this is pretty much what you will have to do?
S*** just got REAL!

I owe this Guy a drink for sure! Now is there any way to implement this in cm7?
Runnin' CM7 thirsty for ICS so I got the bootleg
awesome work, keep it up!
Would be rad to see an all in one .zip to flash cheers man really appreciate the effort.
Incredible
Tried method 2 with Pi Crust .8 once, in a bit of a time crunch, but no go. Guessing didn't take all the correct app files out of /system/apps/. Took out one's in OP and couple more I thought fit the bill. I'll give it another shot soon before I set up my webtop.
Backed up and had darkside running just to smile and show the fellow co-working, android heads today. Thanks again for revamping the Atrix once more! I'll post Pi Crust if I get it working I suppose. Navalynt posted in it's OP that he kinda made it for stuff like this (though I'll double check and webtop/FP scanner always has worked well for me on it.
Has some used this in alien?
Does it work?

It just me or this awsome mod had a little downside: resourses consuming. It seems it slowdown phone a little. Specially poaying games. Play is good but not as fluid than playing only on the phone...
Thats strange, tho, since photon have the same HW. Maybe a ROM optimization issue?

@ nelsonw
I played around with my modded alienv4 rom for the weekend. On my atrix, I didn't notice any slowdown while playing on fpse nor n64 with ps3 controller connected on bluetooth. That's with HDMI mirroring. On webtop, it lags a bit but it's not unbearable, even with a firefox window open at gamefaqs.com lol. I wish I had a photon for testing purposes.

@ starrwarrior
I got a potentially huge issue on webtop since I applied the mod. On my modded alienv4 rom, I can use my ps3 bluetooth keypad on the android view window BUT NOT OUTSIDE of it. I can't type in any app in ubuntu with the bluetooth keyboard BUT I can still use the onscreen keyboard and trackpad on the atrix... how weird... It's as if I never activated bluetooth keyboard in webtop. Does this happen to you too on any bluetooth keyboard or mouse? If you're not using webtop, never mind the question lol.
