[Q] phone not turning on after superboot - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I rooted my N1 using Modaco Superboot guide. It was successful, but the phone didn't turn on after reboot and now it doesn't turn on when pressing power button. I might have used wrong superboot version.
I am able to put my N1 to bootloader mode but when I choose 'recovery' it stucks on cross logo with 2 white pixels. Or when I connect it to pc, it freezes.
My device's details:
Hboot-0.35.0017
MICROP-0b15
RADIO-5.12.00.08
Is there anything I can do to recover my phone?
I searched for solution but didn't find anything useful.

Maybe your recovery is corrupted. Just reflash via fastboot the recovery.

I can't reflash via fastboot as my device freezes when I connect it to my PC :/

Did you use correct version of superboot? I was at modaco.com and there were several versions for the N1. In addition, is your N1 a retail version? If yes, did you follow the recommendation to unlock the bootloader?

My N1 is not a retail version, my bootloader is unlock.
However I am not sure now if I used the correct version of superboot.

Does anyone else has any suggestions how to make my device work?

[Q] Hboot to fastboot problem

i am trying to follow the guide here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Nexus_One:_Full_Update_Guide#ClockworkMod_Recovery
i am trying to unlock the bootloader to flash clockwork mod recovery instead of amon ra recovery. however in the tutorial it says make sure you are in fastboot in the bootloader screen area. but before all this mess i flashed hboot to try to upgrade to gingerbread. so its not working because i flashed hboot i think, but i dont know how to get rid of it and get back to fastboot.
thanks.
Either hold the trackball and power buttons down when you start the phone, or, if you are at the hboot screen, you can just select the fastboot option from the menu...

whoops, actually thats not the problem,
the problem is it says pvt s-on and not pvt s-off.
how do i fix that?
actually i dont think that is it....
when my phone is in bootloader mode it cannot be found by my computer, i.e. nothing shows up when i do fastboot devices or adb devices. but when i turn my phone on, it shows up when i do adb devices.
why?
in the tutorial i followed it said there were some settings i had to check and uncheck on my phone, but the the connect to pc setting doesn't exist on my phone so i skipped it. i am in cyanogen 6.1.1 right now. is that the problem, and if so how do i fix it?

You don't get S-OFF on a Nexus One unless you are REALLY special. The Nexus One equivalent is unlocking the bootloader...

Are you in the fastboot screen of the bootloader, or the hboot screen? You need the fastboot screen...

To put it simply: Power off the phone. Hold trackball and power on.
Do not touch the phone again unless it's displaying the yes/no prompt to unlock it.

The driver used when you are in the bootloader is not the same as when you are in the ROM/recovery.

I think I f*cked my phone up, help me PLEASE

Hi guys, I have a problem.
I tried to flash the Android Revolution HD 5.1 ROM to my HTC One. I had an older version of that ROM on my phone before.
Now my phone doesn't turn on and it doesn't even go into recovery. The HTC logo comes in, then it goes black, and then it just repeats that.
What should I do??

Did you update your PC to Windows 8.1 by any chance? Fastboot may not work without some work, if at all. Do you still have an older version of the rom on your phone you could flash?

Well I would do the following without knowing all the circunstances:
1. Turn off phone completely and try to boot into recovery again. Restore backup
2. Try to install drivers for fastboot on another computer and try to refresh recovery
3. If fastboot does work, flash a RUU
What OS (Windows 8,..) do you have on your computer?
Which hboot version on phone (1.55,..)?
Did fastboot work before?

the right question is "what should I have done?"
you should have read before proceeding, and you should have used the search button, since your doubt has been widely answered before.
your phone is s-on, it had to be s-off to receive ARHD 5.1. the result is a bootloop.
it can be fixed and the answer is written inside ARHD 5.1 thread.

HTC One M7 Boot Loop With Line of Distorted Pixels At Boot?

Ok, I'm obviously new here, so I'm hoping someone might be kind enough to help. I have a T-Mobile HTC One M7 that seems to be stuck in a boot loop and shows a pixelated/distorted line of pixels right under the "htc" logo at boot. The bootloader is unlocked and I have TWRP recovery 2.8.4 installed - I can flash any recovery and send ROMs via adb no problem, but when the phone goes to reboot to complete the ROM set up is when the problem occurs. What's strange is I was running Android Revolution HD 91.1 just fine before this happened - it first happened after I tried to install AdAway. As it is now, I can boot into bootloader or recovery and can navigate just fine, but if I try to simply start up the phone as normal it goes into the bootloop and shows the distorted line of pixels at the htc boot screen. I've tried wiping everything, tried TWRP recovery 2.8.5, tried a couple different ROMs, and the results are the same. Really hoping someone might be able to help. Some information from the bootloader that might help:
S-ON
HBOOT-1.57.0000
OS-6.10.531.10
Also I'm using a Mac (but also have an HP Stream 7 Windows 8.1 tablet if that might help?) Please help!!

Ok, well I ran the RUU program from a Windows machine and it just fails. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated - I'm wondering what the line of distorted pixels as shown in the picture might mean?

Tried it one last time before tossing the phone for good - failed again, then tried again and it worked! (Again I was using an HP Stream 7 tablet with a USB hub for everything, could have been part of the problem) Thank you so much for your help - gotta admit, this custom ROM stuff might not be for me. Thanks again.

Custom binary blocked by FRP lock

Hello people.
So i got a custom recovery (TeamWin project). I disabled OEM Unlock on purpose, because i thought it wouldn't show the red line up in the bootscreen.
After trying to reboot, it wouldn't reboot, and i can't go into Recovery mode. I can't install any custom firmware too, because i've got the OEM Unlock set to "off"
Can someone please help, i can't find a topic similiar to my case, where i've bricked my phone and have no idea what to do.
Thanks to all those who are tying me to help <3.

Right! As I haven't got the phone yet, didn't find out that new OTA have different boot.img. So as for now, rooting means just firmware on website is usable.
In the future if there is an update you will need to unroot, flash the original boot. Flash the rom update and then extract the new boot, patch it with magisk and flash the new patched boot to enjoy root again.
Personally I would rather stay on stock enjoy the timely OTA updates and keep my warranty.

Is the phone supposed to go into some special download mode screen like on Samsung?

After patching the boot.img did you boot into fastboot mode and runned the command for flashing the patched boot.img.
Was the flash successfull or not?
Please be specific in what step you are having issues with and what actions you took.

There is no such option with the stock recovery. Any way why do you need that. You don't need to use ADB commands to flash the patched boot.img.

So how do I flash the patched image? I really need to root this thing and would appreciate the help.
In Samsung phones it's pretty easy, boot into download mode and flash using odin, how to do that on this phone?
Anyone wanna report if there's any issues after rooting the device?

There used to be a fastboot mode on the ROG phone on Android Oreo, i am not sure if things changed with Android Pie.
Anyway try the hardware method to connect, turn your phone off and connect it to the PC using the side port make sure to hold the low volume key when connecting the phone to the PC. See if a fastboot mode black screen shows up.
If not:
On the bootloader screan the second one you showed. On your PC after going to your platform tools and running the cmd window from there type the command:
Fastboot devices
Does it recognize your device?, if it does run the 2 commands stated in step 8. But do it on your own risk if something goes wrong you might brick the device and if you are not able to flash back the stock boot i am afraid you will end up with a bricked device until a solution is suggested.
I can't get into fast boot mode. Tried all options, volume up, volume down, usb, no usb, debugging on, debugging off...
No luck.
$20 for whoever helps me get this thing rooted.
