[Q] kdz opens with notepad huh? - LG Thrill 4G

had a problem unzipoping V20C kdz. fooled around and tried opening it with notepad. now when i download another kdz no matter which one it saves as a winrar file that opens with notepad. if you get what im talkin about maybe you can help? even after i fix that(it will fix if i reset my computer! but would rather not ) i still dont know why i couldnt unzip the files in the first place. got the downloads from very reliable resources found on this site.

U have to right click a and then left click on open with... the choose what program to open it with kdzs ushally arnt zipped

Don't forget to click the little checkbox close to the bottom of the window after you select the right program to open it with. Something like "Use this as my default program for this file type". If you don't the change won't stick and you will have to right click on the file, and open program with every time.

The program I need it to open with is not there and I can't get it from the browsebfiles area. The default program is set as notepad but the other options arrball just as useless.

How to edit data within apk files?

Well I got an app from the market and some of the info in the app are completely wrong. I messaged the dev but no response. So how can I edit the text myself?
Rename the .apk file extension to .zip and then view the files within using a hex editor. Make your changes and then use the market app to resign your apk.
There are a number of zip apps on the market that will let you extract as a normal zip, also...

Just figured out some strange behaviour while saving in APK Edit.
Looks like aatp (wich I use in the background) can't handle external resources that well.
No real solution yet, just a pointer...
Try APK Manager instead?
i've never considered this, but can we really just rename an apk to zip and view its contents?
i just tried this with the gmail app (bad example to use?) and i can see the manifest file and res folder, but i cannot see any of the activity java classes or anything. i'll look into the apk manager thread.
what are some of the market apps called for this?
i didnt think it would be so easy to edit any apk once compiled. otherwise wouldnt it be so easy to make gmail apk black background, etc?
I use Androzip from the market...

[Q] How Do I Remove The Anime Wallpaper In Gingercruzt 8.1?

Exactly what the title says...so please help me
Am I right when I say that you´ve wrote this with your X8?
Becasue there is no ROm called "fingerprint", and because your phone didn´t recognize the name, it just changed it to "fibgerprint", a word from the dictionary that was the most similar to it.
To answer your question:
Go to your homescreen/one of your homescreens, search a free place (that means, that there are no widgets or links to apps, just the background.
Then, put your finger on that free place and leave it there for 2 seconds.
Then, a windows should pop up, that asks you what you want to add to your homescreen.
Choose:"Background image" and then choose another from your gallery/the CM-background images/the live wallpaper gallery and add another one.
Sorry...i wrote the wrong sentence...i was talking about the Anime wallpapers in gingercruzt..that is disturbing...i just need some good Rom not a Rom with pictures like that...can you help me?i want them gone forever...something like deleting lib or anything....and yeah....im using my phone
you can find the wallpapers inside /system/media/wallpapers
you have two options for delete
1- using root explorer or any other file explorer with root permission from inside your phone
2- open the updateGCR8.1 Rom file from your PC with winrar and point to the wallpapers and right click delete "do not extract just right click open" then update it through recovery as you did when installing on your phone
Default one will stay anyway, it is in resources
Just load any wallpaper/s from market.

Make sure you have followed guide properly, disable modem if you have it (i kept drivers from root method which doesnt have modem) and make sure Windows enabler is on. Log runs for a long time when I flash, about 15 minutes before it finally reboots

put the Firmware kdz in the "kdz-update" folder.
Run "UpTestEX_mod2_marwin" like if you were flashing the phone.
when you hit "upgrade" in the program, it will creat a temp .cab file like "V10x.cab" in the same folder "kdz-update", you need to be fast and select and copy (or drag&drop) that file to other location, desktop for example...
after you get the .cab, you just need to extract the .dz and .dll files with winrar, winzip, or other.

[Q][P1000 (XEU)] Need stock ROM

Hello,
Recently I tried to flash (using HumberOS) from CM9 to CM11.
The install failed due to an assert failure, so I looked it up on XDA and found an answer: format /system and /data on a HumberOS thread.
It worked, until it got to the stage to detect the device.
It tried testing for a .prop device model, but mine was "" (empty).
I tried editing the update-script file, but only to find that it said .zip was bad or the installation aborted for no reason.
I thought I could restock, only to find that FUS could not find a link and SamFirmware (SamMobile) said "File not Found".
Does any one have the UK stock ROM (I tried some more links on XDA, but instead an advert replaced the window with software (malicious))?
A Heimdall flashable file would be nice, as I am on OS X.
I have 30% battery left too and the battery icon appears but freezes.
P.S. Also, why does it say the .zip is bad? I'm using Store mode in Keka... I thought that was the right method... Maybe the default .zip method (compressed) will work? I don't want to waste the battery...
You should use 7zip.
Open the zip but don't extract.
Drag out only the updater script and edit it.
Then drag it bag into the zip.
Android is linux based. The file names are case sensitive. Unzipping to windows will destroy that.

I fixed it ages ago (I can't remember what I did). Anyway, I don't think this is the problem as OS X has the same basic file structure as Linux, and I am using Keka which is based on p7zip.
EDIT: Sorry, that makes sense now, as HFS+ is not case sensitive unless you set it up that way when you format the disk.
