[Q] "Obtaining ip address" forever - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I am having problems with the wifi connection of my galaxy ace. I had them with the stock rom. Every so often, it would get stuck on "obtaining ip address", but i could solve the problem by restarting the phone or the router.
But last friday, while updating google+, the phone crash and it wouldn boot again, so i thought, this is the sign!!! and i decided to flash a custom rom. I started with miracle v. 4, which is great.
But i am having the same problem, even worse. now it is not fixed by rebooting the phone or the router, or the two at the same time. I tried at home and at the office, and the problem is the same. it connects to the network for the first time, but after a few minutes, it disconnects and never connects again.
Now i am trying with other roms, but i am curious. is this a common problem with all galaxy ace devices?

I have the same problem with my gt-s5830i and i don't know what's the clue for such a problem
any one help ????

Try and toggle the static ip from the wifi screen by pressing menu.
Static ip usually fixes this, but it won't work with open wifi networks.

Wi-Fi Disconnected~

Running CM3.6.5 and cannot get the wifi to work. When I turn it on after a few seconds it says "Disconnected" right underneath it.
On the wifi networks I try to connect to my home router but it doesn't do anything. the signal strength:excellent securitypen, i hit the connect button but nothing.
I've turned off and on the wifi with no luck. Been searching for help but can't find any. If this has happened to you and you've fixed it let me know how i can do this.
Thanks!~
Have you only had this problem on one network? At work, every few days I loose my connection to our Linksys. A coworker's iPhone also fails to connect, but another coworker's Dell laptop can connect fine. Watching logcat I can see it attempting to connect, then spitting out an authentication failure error.
Restarting the Linksys seems to solve the problem. Not sure what is special about the two phones that makes everything crap out.
the only wifi network i use is my home one right now. haven't thought about restarting it. gonna do it and hopefully that will be the fix i've overlooked ><
/slaps his forehead.....
restarted my router and that fixed the problem. for some reason i've never had to do this but now i know.
thanks for the post! wifi working now.
Glad that helped. I'm still a little stumped about why it's doing this, but it sounds like we have the same issue. Restarting the router is easy enough though.
Now at home, I have a Linksys running Tomato firmware, and it never boots either of the two G1s we have. So it's just the stock router firmware for me, and it only affects G1s and iPhones (or at least, it affects them and not a laptop with Intel wireless).
i am having the same issue. does anybody knows if its a rom problem? I am running cyanogen 4.3.1. in college, where my laptop can connect fine, the g1 can not, and has a very low signal level while laptop shows excellent.

[Q] kuyadroid wifi

hey i have using kuyadroid a week now and the wifi worked fine but yesterday when i came to school my wifi just got stuck on connecting i have try restart phone restart wifi nothing works and it dont work home just the same just get stuck at connecting. any 1 know how to fix this?
Try clearing ALL remembered WiFi networks and reboot.
This should fix the problem - a common problem on Gingerbread ROMs as it would seem.

Periodically losing wifi connection

When I connect to internet via wifi, connection work 2-3 minutes and than start trying to reconnect. Sometimes reconnection is successful and sometimes I need manually to disable and enable wifi to connection re-enable. After that is the same process after 3 minutes, it disconnects and trying to reconnect again.
I have problem on android version 2.2 and than I updated from official Samsung release to 2.3.5 and problem persist.
Do you have similar problem or advice how I can debug and find what really cause a problem.
Thanks in advance.
no there i sno problem in your phone ..its the problem in your firmware,, i am using 2.3.6 ddkq7 it has same wifi bug,,, but when i used other rom wifi worked great,, like froyo or custom rom cyanogen,, so problem is in firmware not in your phone,,
Like my comment if i helped
Some routers aren't very friendly to mobile devices. Try and see if you can update the firmware of your router.

Wifi Problem

A while ago, the wifi on my phone started to behave strangely. Sometimes, it wouldn't connect to my modem and other times connected flawlessly. Now it stopped connecting. 3 weeks have passed and it didn't connect to any routers. I changed my router, tried connecting to public, open wifi and friends wifi but nothing worked. I even bought a wifi antenna and replaced the one inside my phone & tried setting up a static IP but it still doesn't work. I was on N4 elite when the problems started, as usual I already tried the wipe cache etc.. flash stock 4.4.4 but still nothing. I'm on stock 4.4.4 now.
when I switch on wifi it searches and finds all nearby connections. but when I try connecting to one of them the signal strength meter decreases to zero and then it says saved.
Any solution? thanks in advance

You can try flashing a custom rom. Maybe it fixes your device. It can reveal if the problem is with your antenna or with your rom

Wifi problem on s10/+ !!!

My wifi keeps dropping as well, it's getting to the point where I might return to Samsung unless it's fixed in a firmware update!

Same problem started to happen recently with my phone but only with 5GHz WiFi.
Getting the same problem with 5ghz as well, have to shut it off and then reconnect to the router. Their networking coding is a disgrace, tons of complaints about it all over the place and Samsung does nothing.... I can't return my device but if you're still within the period of being able to, I would if I were you. I absolutely hate this device and all its problems.
I"m having a similar issue. First I noticed that LTE would stop working until I rebooted. Then the wifi would glitch up the same way. I'm not sure if it's the switch from one to the other, or what the deal is. The worst part is it's not repeatable. It just seems to do it randomly.
I have encountered the same problem with wifi dropping. I went to wifi setting and forget network and reboot. Punch the password back. Its working fine now. By the way im using the latest s10+ firmware rooted
Hi guys,
I was faced to the same issue since I bought my S10e. DO not mind the solutions proposed on generic sites (thecellguide.com, thedroidguy.com), they're garbage, totally irrelevant (reboot your phone, erase your cache blabla).
I've tried several hypothesis to troubleshoot this issue (very inconsistent wifi connection with my TPLink 4G routeur MR600, disconnecting every minute or so). In fact, tens...
And the final word seems to be, as observed by other users: 5GHz. After disabeling the option on my routeur (switching all traffic to 2,4GHz) everything is fine. For now.
Good luck
Chris (Fr)
I've also had this issue on the S10E where the wifi would be connected but no internet. After a few minutes it would no longer see the wifi. 5ghz of course. 2.4 no problem. I noticed this happened right after login to Samsung account. Now that I'm logged out Samsung account wifi is all good. I'm on the oneui 2 Jan sec update.
I have the same problem with my girlfriend's Samsung S10, it keeps disconnecting from 5GHz. Just now I switched her to 2.4GHz to see if it solves the problem. All our other devices (HTC One M9, 2x laptops, raspbbery pi 3, chromecast, google home) have no problem with the WiFi on either band.
Samsung really has a problem with it's network code, I also had a problem at work with Cisco APs when an Apple device and the Samsung S10 where on the same network it would bring the whole network down. It was some multicast bug where the Apple would announce itself as the gateway only when an S10 was present.
It's happened to me but never until after the last update. I noticed yesterday I was connected with no internet.
