I just watched a video of MIUI v5 and that's pretty freakin' impressive. HTC should take a couple notes here. I wonder though, if they decide to officially support the HTC One, is it going to be for International versions only, or would it work completely with Sprint's model? I'd be willing to root my phone to get an official version of this, but only if it's not something we have to port.

oh, didn't see that. well i won't quite apologize for making this thread if it helps lead to more votes for the HTC ONE.
i'm actually contemplating trading my HTC ONE for a S4 because they have a more functional version of MIUI up and running.

it would be official for the international version of the phone.
we have the sprint variant.
the WHOLE WORLD uses GSM.
Sprint uses CDMA.
so we would have to port the official one to work with our radios.
This is not a rant or a moan or whatever you want to call it. This is just clearing a few things up after the last few days what i have been reading on the forum.
Firstly support for N4 will still be there after this update, and i am sure we have at least one more major update to come for our beloved device. People saying that our phone will be next are just talking rubbish. People all over the forum are crying thinking that our device will be next. Until a confirmation from Google can people please stop with the conspiracy theories.
Also regarding with the launcher. Now i am not that really bothered if it gets released or not as i do not use Google Now. But again were is the official confirmation that the launcher will not be included for our device? There is none. Just tech sites writing there stuff as usual and every one is lapping it up and making a fuss.
I love my phone and i do not see a reason why i should upgrade to the Nexus 5. I do not want though people in the forum to start moaning about things that are not official yet from the God itself which is Google. Yes they are not perfect but until the actual release gets to our device and we have things missing then fine all hell can break lose.
Oh and one last thing. Yes am gutted that we not got the update soon as the release came out but we are still the first to get it were other mega devices are not getting it at least December or Xmas the earliest..So am still thankful for the Nexus line. But that will start not meaning anything soon anyway if they carry this new strategy of there to put money first before anything else.
But till then please take a chill pill people.
This will get shut down and deleted am sure but i just wanted people to read this and seriously take it easy till there is ACTUAL CONFIRMATION by GOOGLE THEMSELVES..
Mods sorry if this should not be here but sometimes a man has enough when reading through the forums and having whiny kids whine all the time.
And to add...We are XDA...If things go missing and are not included in the build that our beloved N4 should get then people trust our great and respectful Developers here who are if you do not mind me saying better than those at Google..We will have those features that the N5 has and if not should be better build than stock...So please show your support for our devs and less whining and help this place for newbies instead of moaning all the time about something that has not been confirmed yet
:highfive: for you!
This is exactly my opinion on the subject.
If you are on XDA, odds are that you know how to mod your phone, and believe me, everything that will not come with the official OTA will be made avaliable soon here on XDA.
Right, you might need root, you can argue you do not want to root but then what is the point of your anger if you do not want to take action to get something you want?
Just wait for Google to release the OTA and everything will be clear!
Should be soon I guess

exactly my friend. until something has been confirmed i do not understand why people are panicking. and by the next update which will be by summer time our phone should be more than capable to handle it and i am sure we are in for that to. phones should have a support from the OS development team ie Google at least maximum two years...so why are people are stressed is beyond me.
Now as the Galaxy Nexus that is a strange one and Google should state the reasons why they are not supporting it but again that is nothing to do with me or concerns me..But for people to start saying that the N4 is next is beyond silly to say

Sure there is confirmation. It is not included in the Nexus 7 WiFi KitKat update. And Google confirmed it with The Verge and said it is possible they will bring it to other devices other than the N5 someday but not initially.
Great post OP.. You know what I think it is? Purely my opinion after mulling over how absolutely weird the 4.4 rollout and release has been.
Ever been in a corporate environment where someone important is replaced? It's hell.. JBQ left and was replaced.. So here you have a new guy who is pulling the old corporate "I'm new and have to flex my superiority and change things to make it look like I'm doing something different and being productive" (ie: Fishing for his next promotion).. This happens in nearly every business.. It's hilarious to watch happen in real life because most employees know it's coming.. 3 months later after everyone hates the new guy and his useless changes everything goes right back to the way it was. I'm certain all the rumblings this is causing is being heard..

It has to do with the Ti core not being supported anymore. Also, not being supported by Ti did not meant it doesn't work for Galaxy Nexus, just means Google would not support a device without former support to its hardware.
Anyways, Galaxy Nexus got 4.4 already, go Install it

To be honest the reason why i opened this thread is to get my opinion about the many things that i have read on the forum. Many false information that is going around by others is beyond ridiculous because they listen to tech sites most of them without any proper confirmation by Google itself...Now as to regarding the updates that are coming for our device if there is an official changelog by Google to say what are the changes from the older nexus devices compare to the N5 then i will eat my hat if it is out already stating what we are getting and missing out on..
But again people forget that XDA is here to help..Hence why we should not be ranting and raving
What am trying to say is that i want this thread to stick to a proper adult discussion about our device regarding the build that we should get..And i do not want people to give mis-information till we get it from the Big Boss itself

I can understand your point here OP but, the purpose of forums such as this one is to allow for open discussion on a topic. I see no issue with speculation or assumption as long as people keep their heads. That is, after all, what makes things interesting and keeps people intrigued. If we went purely on the facts at hand 100% of the time, discussions would end fairly quickly and most forums would be desolate places.
Just my .02

Hello All,
I realize this issue has been addressed, and there are a few short threads on the topic. Frankly, I am surprised that there is not more chatter regarding the lack of Android 6.0 - Marshmallow for Nexus 6 devices purchased through T-Mobile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am no expert, but would not consider myself in the "noob" category. I am fully aware of the wider LTE spectrum required for T-Mobile Nexus devices, i.e. Band 12, as well as carrier enabled Wi-Fi calling over T-Mobile's network.
I just can't seem to understand how almost 2 months later, my d*mn Nexus 6 is still on 5.1.1. ?!?!?!?
Does anyone have anymore insight regarding this? Can we discuss and find out WHY they are still in their "Testing" phase? Honestly, I'm glad that they are doing the properly required due diligence and QA testing, but 2 months?!?!?!?!? COME ON T-Mobile/Google!
At this point, I would NOT be surprised to get 6.0 on my Note 5 before my Nexus 6. Wait, on second thought, I doubt it. Will probably get it after the Note 7 comes out.
And please don't tell me I can flash the factory image from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en I am fully aware and we have all gone this route plenty of times. I simply want to start a meaningful discussion that may shed some light on WHAT in the WORLD is taking T-Mobile so long to finish validating their Marshmallow build, or if it's not truly that, then what is the hold up??????
Do you really think your going to get a meaningful discussion here? Especially when your ranting your head off throwing caps around and cursing in the thread title?
Regardless of if its what you want to hear or not... Google made the update available for you the instant it came out. If you have chosen not to take it, then that was your choice.
Wait patiently, or make the choice to go take the update... Those are your options.
Cursing in the title? I took the courtesy of censoring it, if you haven't noticed and Hell isn't exactly a "bad word". Relax man, it isn't directed at you or anyone else for that matter. If you have nothing "meaningful" to say, then why waste time even replying. Didn't realize there were so many sensitive females on this website.
It's quite obvious you don't like to read things in it's entirety prior to replying to a stranger. I would recommend Neurontin, or maybe Zoloft. Might help with the impulse control.
Punctuation exists for a reason. If I want to complain about a Nexus branded device not receiving a major update two months after release within the context of a website that exists to discuss just these types of issues, I will.
Again, Neurontin... ENN, EE, YOU, ARR, OH, ENN, TEE, EYE, ENN. Talk with your shrink about it. Might help get your head out of your rectum. Unless of course your father prefers it that way.
Then by all means, carry on.
Anyhow, spoke to a T-Mobile tech support representative, not that they have ever been much help historically, but apparently they are testing T-Mobile specific applications to ensure that they play well with Android 6.0 (He Mentioned Visual Voicemail, T-Mobile My Account, etc.). Does that mean that the Nexus 6 devices purchased via T-Mobile will have a disparate build? Based on what this guy said, it looks like it.
Another reason why I didn't just blindly flash the Universal builds. Not to mention, many T-Mobile customers who have already done so, are experiencing bugs with their devices and/or broken functionality.

Son, you really DO NOT know what you are talking about. Go look at the Factory Image page at https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en , now go to Shamu, and read the images (might take a bit of scrolling, so resist the urge to give up and rant and rave, in an attempt to teach me etiquette). Do you see where it says "5.1.0 (For T-Mobile ONLY) (LMY47M)" or "5.1.1 (For T-Mobile ONLY) (LYZ28E)" or "5.1.1 (For T-Mobile ONLY) (LYZ28J)" or 5.1.1 "(For T-Mobile ONLY) (LYZ28K)" or "5.1.1 (For T-Mobile ONLY) (LYZ28M)" or "5.1.1 (For T-Mobile ONLY) (LYZ28N)"??
Again, impulse control. Do a little research before replying. Not to mention VoLTE and Cat 14 LTE that only T-Mobile uses (in this country, and at this time). Not saying that the universal build absolutely WON'T work, but there are more than a few stories out there stating that exact opposite. I for one, would like to wait for a build that is catered to the frequencies of my Mobile network for the simple fact that it will address all of those incompatibility issues.

Also, many people who have downloaded the universal image, wiped their devices, and installed the update, have had to root, downgrade their Radio for 5.1.1. just to get an LTE signal and WiFi calling as well as a number of other features to work properly.
Again, read before you reply.

simms22, thanks for the advice. I do realize that, and I have read as much for the most part. My main point was really an attempt at trying to gain an understanding as to why Nexus 6 devices from T-Mobile have not yet been updated to Marshmallow.
I appreciate your comment. I have also read about a number of incompatibility issues when flashing the universal build, so I like to err on the side of caution, especially considering that I use my Note 5 as a daily driver. Also, not trying to do a full wipe just yet (I realize I can do so without, but from what I have read, that is what is causing the bugs/incompatibility).
Like I stated earlier, the T-Mobile tech. rep. stated that there will be a T-Mobile specific build out soon. Now what that contains, I cannot say. Just trying to gain some insight. It could just be T-Mobile bloatware, though I am fairly certain they are addressing some of the known issues that are affecting a portion of Nexus 6 devices running Marshmallow on T-Mobile.
Thanks again.

Also, do you see where the correct answer states "Flashing with a T-Mobile rom is going to require you to unlock your bootloader...." Key words "T-Mobile ROM"
Where does it say that all builds are unified starting at Android 6.0? That may be the case for all other carriers, but it is PRETTY obvious, that this does not apply to the T-Mobile build for 6.0.

Flashing ANY rom is going to require a bootloader unlock, so yes flashing a tmobile rom would require a bootloader unlock.

Yes, I know how to flash an image and/or a ROM, unlocking the bootloader has nothing to do what this conversation, other than I do not want to wipe my device Einstein. Do you know how to SSH into a RHEL Server across a minimally perforated firewall to change jre environments for global profile enabled Linux applications on let's say, an Apache Web Server LBP?
I know how Linux works. Android is child's play.
You are completely ignoring the fact that there is a reason that T-Mobile Nexus 6 devices have NOT been given the green light for Android 6.0.
Really, why do you think that is? If it were such a simple solution, then it wouldn't have been 2 months and no update. Clearly, there are some technical details, that are probably WAY above your intrinsic level of comprehension, that are delaying the release of this image.
If you are too dense to comprehend that, then continuing this conversation is futile.
If anyone has any insight or information as to the delay, feel free to let me know.
Thanks.

Brother, no offense, I'm not following you. The reason Wi-Fi calling pops up when you throw a T-Mobile SIM card into a Sprint phone, is because Wi-Fi calling is baked into Android 5.1.1.
Sorry, not sure what point you are trying to make. You do know that on the Google Developers Factory Images page, there are T-Mobile specific builds for the Nexus 6 right?
Even Verizon users, just started receiving 6.0 in this past week. The only other time this happened was with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and we all know what happened there. Exact same thing I am talking about. As a matter of fact, (will link to it later), we have already had an in-depth discussion about this on a different forum on this site. There are in fact different builds for different carriers.
The Universal build WILL work, no one is saying that it won't, but keep doing some research and you will see that many (and I mean many) users have reported incompatibility and/or broken functionality when flashing the Factory Images on their T-Mobile and also Verizon devices.
As far as what you are saying about a T-Mobile SIm card working in a Sprint Nexus 6. I don't think anyone is arguing that. We all know that to be the case, although I can guarantee you that if you put a Verizon SIM card into your Sprint/AT&T/T-Mobile Nexus 6, it will NOT work.
I know because I have Verizon service (for work), and I have tried. That is less about the phone being locked, and more about non Verizon IMEI's being blacklisted. My point is, that we know that the Nexus 6 is unlocked. That is not the question I am asking here.

For LP yes.

Yup, VZW took their sweet ass time testing and distributing it too.
Yet check that developer image page... and where is the VZW MM image?
Just because the carrier has not pushed it as an OTA does not mean it's a different build, because M is unified. So even though it took until last week for VZW to push it to their phones.... It's the same unified build that has been out this whole time.

I know because I have Verizon service, and I have tried. That is less about the phone being locked, and more about non Verizon IMEI's being blacklisted. My point is, that we know that the Nexus 6 is unlocked. That is not the question I am asking here.

I have a non VZW phone btw, and on VZW with a VZW sim. It works fine. You need to do your reading on this one, lots of us don't have Verizon issued phones, its only ATT that is carrier locked.
Many people had issues getting VZW to activate their nexus 6, this was not technical as much as it was people bringing their phones to VZW and VZW declining. People also had issues not getting their discount for buying a phone outright, but from early launch you could stick a VZW sim into a nexus 6 and use it

Enough ranting now...
Thread closed
I have searched the forums and the web trying to find a thread for a "root progress" (like the one we had on the LG V30 side of the world) of our T-MOBILE/AT&T/VERIZON/SPRINT note 9, but didn't find any. If there is one already, please remove this thread and provide me a link to it if you may.
Anyway,
There are two reasons why I'm creating this thread:
1. We used to have forums that are carrier specific. It was very neat and organized. I'd never gotten confused on finding something related to my device. Now, it is just one and very very cluttered forum for all varients (to the point that I'm not sure which variant is rootable and which isn't. And that's why I left out the sprint varient because I'm honestly not sure). There are so many threads that makes it so hard to find what you're looking for.
2. I'd like to know if there are any devs out there that are working on root for this phone (on the carriers mentioned above) and whether they need help testing. If there is; I'm sure there are a ton of users who are willing to help, including me.
I'd love for some devs to chime in and give us some updates. Not asking for any ETAs, but would love to know if there is any work being done. If there is, then please consider this thread to share your progress with us
So, feel free to throw your comments on here. Also, if you're a user who's wondering about root, has thoughts about root, would like to chat about it, go ahead, vent it out.
Cheers

I am also interest in US variant root progress. I am on Sprint though. Wish you had included us too in OP. I am willing to test out if anyone is developing.
Hi
Great idea, maybe if we show interest some of the dev's might take up the challenge.
We can hope.

Wont ever happen thats why i returned it and got the 960f for tmobile i left sprijt
It's a pipe dream to get root on the US variants. Samsung has even blocked SamFail and similar root. The bootloaders cannot be unlocked and the snapdragon processor models are doomed.
Join @pbedard, myself, and others; return your snapdragon model and buy the 960F.
The Note 9 is great, but it's amazing with root. ??

carrier specific should be banned and never be implemented again.
it causes confusion and is just a waste of resources. people ask questions and get less visibility because 90% of all questions or releases are CPU based and not carrier related.
it's simply a less efficient way of going about things.
carrier related issues and questions should actually be discussed in that specific carriers website. what good is it to discuss or bring up carriers issues in xda when you actually want and need carriers support and visibility from their end to fix or correct their issues?
issues that are based on device type or general custom development should be kept on xda as is: by cpu. there are sections for general inquires and such that can easily be used for the 10% asking questions or support for a specific carrier.
BTW
extra extra read all about it:
no root for the n960 snapdragon. it's a moot point and progress is that there is no progress. I'd think if the people that were working and progressing getting root were actually getting somewhere they would have already posted info by now. speculative threads wishing for something is not progress and I don't think its gonna " attract " people to suddenly develope root because if it.
it will come when it does if it does.
edit:
to prove my point for the carrier thing:
in Canada we also have the note 9 snapdragon.
960w Bell/rogers/telus/videotron/wind mobile...etc and so on.
should the forums be re-spliced for all of these too? lol no

Sorry, budd. Didn't know that you guys didn't have root either. I'll edit later.

The way Samsung has been locking phones the past few years I'm starting to wonder why I shouldn't try an iPhone out.

I was telling myself the same thing.. then snapped out of it and got an LG lol. Get a Pixel or any other brand if you value root.

its really the carriers imo.. well the US mainly haha.. most all other devices are unlockable outside of the US..
but agreed, especially with the RMM stuff they implemented recently even on unlockable devices..

I honestly cant afford to pay for this phone outright. I wish I could. I would've gotten the exynos varient and called it a day, financing through tmobile was the only option I had to get my hands on this phone. Even without root, it's still a stellar phone.

Is root even worth it anymore tbh ? What if we tried to get Volte and wifi calling working on the unbranded firmware ?

You could have gotten one on ebay and pay it over six months with the PayPal Credit option. That's what I did to get Exynos model.
