[Q] Autoboot - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i know this discussion is going on for some time but unfortunately i did not find a proper solution to autoboot a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The autoboot should kick in if the device is recharging. I have tried to script the playlpm like this:
#!/system/bin/sh
/system/bin/reboot
but this did not work on my Galaxy Tab (rooted). Is there a difference between the root program's / roms? So maybe i grabed the wrong root rom/program?
There is also an app from Chainfire (NoMoarPowah!) which works like a charm. But you must power off the device with this app and i need a solution which will also work if the device suddenly shut down.
Sorry for my bad English and thanks in advance!

[Q] Copy ROM from one device to other?

Hello guys.
FYI this is about Samsung Galaxy S Wiki 5.0 - YP-G70CW and I posted here as there is no forum for this device, and the i9000 is the closest (i think).
So, I had bought a couple of months ago this device in China but it came with no Market, no Google apps, and does not allow any Google apps. So it is very limited. Check here, we couldn't find help that time.
Now, I got a Brazilian version of this device from a friend. They are the same, but the Brazilian system got all that the Chinese one misses.
I installed ClockworkMod Rom Manager but looks like it have no support for Samsung Galaxy S Wifi. I have choose the i9000 model anyway, but it does not create the backup files.
So now I have an appropriate device to copy from, but I need help to make that backup / ROM file(s).
thanks in advance.
Any tip would be appreciated.
I don't think that there's the same processor as in our i9000 -> so ROMs won't fit.
Ok, I understand.
But do you know how to make a ROM from a device (without ClockworkMod ROM Manager)?
I borrowed the same device (but from a different country) and I would like to know how to copy the OS from the borrowed one to mine.
Is there any way I can copy the system, without making a ROM?
thanks in advance.
I am pretty sure you could potentially use ODIN to dump the files you would need but the liklihood of turning both devices into plastic bricks is pretty high. That being said I have a Chinese ROM of the YP-G70 that has the Android Market and Google Apps. I have a Canadian device I got from Woot and accidentally futzed it up. Only ROM I could find was the Chinese one and I had to flash from ODIN. If you want it PM me.
Roms are far more complicated than just the interface you see... they control everything, including how the screen turns on, how the buttons work and so on. If you have an incompatible rom you probably won't even be able to boot up the phone.
Anyway, if you really want to copy a rom you could try doing a CWM backup/restore from another phone, though I would definitely not recommend it.
If it's the same device (same CPU, same model, you know ) I don't see any problems with restoring the CWM-backup...
Ok guys!
evilh has sent me a link with the Chinese ROMs. One is identical to mine, the other have all the Google stuff (probably from Hong Kong).
The summary to flash YP-G70 is the following.
0. Download SuperOneClick, Odin3, the adequate ROM and Drivers for Samsung Mobile Phones (and install it).
1. Root the device with SuperOneClick (to say the truth I don't know it it is really required).
2. Connect the device to the computer with USB cable.
3. Turn the device off, and turn it on in Download Mode (hold volume down and power until the mode starts).
4. Open Odin3 (it shows your device is connected).
5. Click "PDA" and select the ROM file.
6. Click "Start"
Done. Wait some minutes to flash the files, the device will restart a couple of times, but when it's done the OS will start automatically. Voila.
Thanks to evilh. It worked like a charm for me!

Glad I could help. Nice to be able to give back to the community every now and again.
We should start a list of apps that break this device. For me it was "Font Installer Root" by JRummy16. For user chinchachoma it was one of the apps that changes pixel density.

[Q] SGS Bricked

hey guys,
i have a big problem.
So, i installed a custom rom and all will be fine. but i can´t update the kernel, so i want to install "CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVO-v3.2-CWM3RFS".
By another sgs i could update the kernel after the cf root kernel update.
so, i tried it and now its bricked. that mean, i can´t start the download mode.
i found a howto which tell, that i can make it work when i enter the batterie loading screen, start adb and start the phone by using the adb command "adb reboot download" (this is a link to a german page http://www.android-hilfe.de/anleitu...en-fall-den-download-mode-auch-bei-brick.html)
but my problem is, that the phone doesn´t go to the batterie mode screen. the phone hold on by loading the screen.
i really hope, that anyone know a solution.

I got this link from the german android board "android-hilfe.de" in english: "android-help".
There are three different solutions you can try.
You could try translate the text in google translator... Don't know if the translator are good enough...

Samsung Galaxy SIII mini - build.prop [BRICK]

Hello I really hope someone has a good solution for my problem (FIXED NOW - read whole post if interested), I have attempted quite a few supposed solutions that i found and always seem to run into the same problems, so I will try and explain as much as possible about my device and problem.
Firstly I have Samsung Galaxy SIII mini, I bought this from a carphone warehouse store in the UK under a o2 network contract but I believe it to not be network locked.
I then successfully rooted my phone with this image file ( https://mega.co.nz/#!qIsiEZIZ!L7rPSSTJ89-N3WrKs-i5vjYoW0lCIXMnkC5fGcnCg3o ) the other day using odin and by following this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2030282
Everything worked PERFECTLY and was extremely happy with the results I had now acquired super user control allowing me to use apps that require this privilege apps such as LCD Density changer (should be renamed "Samsung Bricker")
I stupidly used a LCD Density changer app, which i believe changed the density from 240 to 190.
Since this change the phone would not get past the very first load screen, meaning not the animated samsung logo but the simple galaxy s3 mini splash that is shown before. It still charged and I could still get to recovery mode, I dont think safe mode worked though. I could also still access it via adb on my PC.
So I followed a number of threads on how to use adb and shell to to edit the build.prop file to reset the density but even following numerous methods to make the /system folder and its contents rw (read writable) as opposed to ro (read only) and same goes for build.prop
I was never able to to push the build.prop file back into /system. Even when it seemed it had done it i would pull the build.prop file back again to check to see that there was no change whatsoever.
I also did not have anything like busybox installed to the best of my knowledge and seemed like a much more complex solution to any other thread.
I then wondered would the rom I previously installed contain the correct build.prop file in its system.img, I attempted to unpack these images to check but was unable to with numerous supposed tools available for windows ( I think ubuntu systems are the best for this ).
Just out of pure random stabbing in the dark I hit volume down + power + home once again. I suddenly saw the odin screen on my phone. "Hell to the Yeah" I thought to myself.
So I attempted to follow the thread (mentioned earlier) for the custom the rom using odin again (this was like the 3rd time i had tried to get the odin screen back, as you some times find the connection to the PC and phone to be very unstable at times, so due to this I had just assumed this wasn't going to work)
Now I see the odin screen perhaps, just perhaps the rom does include the build.prop file. So I started the process again and now even though I have wiped all my data as part of my trials to get the phone working again I now no longer have a brick rather than a phone! This process actually took place whilst I was in the middle or writing this post as I was at my wits end and desperately seeking help.
So I am posting this anyway with the hope it may at some point help some other unfortunate soul! MY PHONE NOW WORKS AGAIN! a few hours of my life gone but hopefully it'll save someone else these hours!
(word to the wise dont screw with the LCD Density unless you have a confirmed list of working density's)
Thanks for reading!
Best Wishes Rhys

[Q] Is it possible to root the new Galaxy S3 mini GT-I8200N (Value Edition)?

Hey guys
first of all thanks a lot for this great forum.
I have a question regarding my new Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini (Value Edition) (model number: GT-I8200N).
Is there any way to root my phone? I can't find any info for this model on the internet.
In this thread only the GT-8200 is mentioned. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2185700. How is this method working?
I found a guide for rooting the "normal" S3 mini by flashing the CWM and SuperSU.
Is it possible to root my phone this way without bricking it?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Is this phone built on same board as the US s3mini sm-g730a? If so at least you can root it. Dont try anything for i8190.

Thanks alot for the advice not to try anything for the gt-i9190!

Try this, it roots almost any device.
Hi, i have an i8200L and I did root it with the vRoot. But does anyone know if the others mods for i8190 work for this one? Like ROMs and all that?
I've read that you can't flash roms etc. because there are differences in the software (bootloader?).
The chance that you brick your phone is pretty high.

Brick?
Hi,
first I tried to flash a custom rom and afterwards I read this thread.
There is no excuse for that, i know. But I know now, that i flashed a wrong rom.
Can I throw the Mobile away or is there a chance for it?
My GT-I8200N now shows me just a window with the words "firmware upgrade encountered
an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again".
I don´t know what to do know, maybe someone can help me.
Thanks

That is download mode. You have to chose vol+ to see your status.
To get out of download mode, just hold power for about 10 sec and it will reboot to system.
Recovery mode: vol+ / home / power
Download mode: vol- / home / power (confirm with vol+)
Thanks for answer. In recovery i can not see anything. In download Mode it says "system status: official". But at the top it says "odin mode" Does that mean that warranty is still ok or not?
Is still ok!

Hi All,
While updating my firmware via odin, the update failed and my phone was stuck in download mode , I did a battery pull and now the phone will not come on at all. The computer makes hardware connection sound when I plug it in or unplug it, but other than that I cant get it to respond.
I would like to get a debrick file or a bootlader.img for this model so I can try to boot it from my SD card. Can anyone help me ????

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8190N - Stuck in bootloop

Hi All.
I am looking for help and advice with regards to getting my wife's Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8190N working again.
My wife has been having issues with this phone restarting it's self at random on and off for the last few months, but as the phone is always in use/needed, I have been unable to have a look for the cause of the problem.
A few weeks ago the phone powered down, and would not switch back or, it would also not charge.
After removing the battery and having a closer look it seems that the battery has swollen and is no longer flat so a new replacement battery was ordered.
The new replacement battery was fitted and the phone was put on charge, the phone displayed that is was now charging, I thought all was good and just left the phone to charge.
Some time later on I tried to power on the phone, but am just greeted by "Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8190N" logo and then the phone just restarts again, and keeps on doing this.
The phone is 100% stock, it has not been unlocked or re-flashed.
The phone is on contract from Tesco Mobile, but my wife has been told by Tesco that the warranty has expired.
From searching on the forum it seems that it is quite common for Samsung phones to get stuck in this kind of boot loop.
So far it seems that there are two possible ways to fix the current issue.
1 - Power off the phone and go into boot-loader and do a factory reset.
or
2 - Re-flash the stock rom.
So I thought I would 1st try the factory reset.
So I removed and replaced the battery, Held down "Volume Up, Home, Power", I am then greeted by "Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8190N" logo and the phone just sits there.
So it now looks like the only other option is to re-flash the phone with the stock rom.
But how do I find out what stock rom that I need for this phone, as I am unable to get into the bootloader to run any ADB or FastBoot commands.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
Best Regards.

Can you please advice how I can find out what is the correct firmware / stock rom to download, as the phone will not boot, and I am unable to use ADB or Fastboot to pull any information from the phone.
As said before my wife got the phone from Tesco Mobile on contract, and from my understanding is that Tesco Mobile uses the O2 Network.
Looking at the list of firmware's I can't not see any listed as Tesco Mobile.
Thanks again for your time.

I am still having issues with this phone, and I have been unable to progress forward.
I did start this post: Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8190N - Re-flashing stock rom, to try and locate the stock firmware (rom) so that I could re-flash it.
From my other post I have been able to locate the following firmware (roms) for the phone.
I8190NXXAMJ2_I8190NBTUAMJ1_BTU.zip
I8190NXXAMG1_I8190NOXXAMG1_BTU.zip
I8190NXXALL6_I8190NOXXALL3_BTU.zip
I have tried flashing all of the above firmwares (roms) one by one, but I am still having the same issue.
Can anyone please advice me on anything else that I can try.
Thanks for your time.

I found this post with a similar issue: S3 Mini stuck in boot loop after flashing cm 10.2 try odin am i missing a step?
The above post pointed me here: Official ROOTED firmwares for the SIII mini - OXX csc
I have once again tried all the I8190N firmware (roms) listed, and I am still having the same issue as before.
Just to recap the issue that I am having.
The phone will switch on, get as far as displaying "Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8190N" then the phone restarts, this will on happening.
If you try to start the phone in bootloader / recovery mode the phone will just display "Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8190N" and sit there.
Powering up the phone in Odin mode seems to work fine.

You tried to flash stock ROM via Odin ?

That is correct.
Are you sure about did you find the stock ROM ?
Behind the battery there is a paper. With S/N you may understand which baseband do you have
I am not sure about the stock firmware (rom), that is why I have been asking for help and advice.

You should try kies. It will find the correct ROM but I didnt use it and its diffrent from ODIN
Kies does not work, when you have kies loaded and then plug the usb cable into the phone kies just shows connecting but fails to connect or do anything else.
You need to unistall ODIN. Did you entered your phone S/N and did kies download the files ?

Here are some question about Kies.
Does Kies detect a rooted device and deny its USB connection?
Or limit any feature on it?
I`m facing a problem using Odin and USB connection while
trying to flash TWRP update on my Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini (GT-I8190N).
i have no issue using Kies to make a backup before, so i`m guesting that`s the reason.
my solution was to uninstall Kies temporarily(keeping the backup files).
Its no major problem, just trying to communicate and share opinions in this forum.
Anyone having/had this kind of problem?
