I'm waking up this thread to know if there are any progress on this subject !
I bought my I9300 in china and i'd like to replace the China Unicom boot logo by stock one.
I read that it appear that the logo file is located somewhere in boot.img file.
I'll try to have a look at it with Cygwin when i'll have more time (maybe this week end).
Yet, if anyone managed to do this, i'd really appreciate that this person share his experience !
Thanks in advance !
You can use ROM Toolbox (search the Play Store) to switch the boot animations. Boot logos usually come with the kernel.

Thanks for answering but i9300 boot logo changing is not supported by Rom Toolbox pro. Only some HTC and some other devices.
Kernel switching is the only thing I know that does that. I'm aassuming you can compile a kernel with a custom boot logo buy that's aa lot of work

Thanks for answering. I'll try to do this. I assume i just need to extract a working kernel, add my wanted image in the place of the stock one and then recompile ? I think i can do this. I'll try as soon as i have some time and report.

It's a request for developers to convert that galaxy ace ROM to our phone.
In my opinion, his English was okay, so what part didn't you understand?

Download the ROM. Extract the zip file. The base, i guess is the indian gingerbread. Download it for galaxy mini. Extract that too. Or take a 2.3.6 based custom ROM (a stock based one, not cm7 or miui) replace the app, framework, and media folder with the ones in the ACE's ROM. Should boot.

LOL!! It's not so easy... You can copy files from one zip to other, yes. But don't expect a stable/usable ROM from that, even don't expect to see it working

Ok. So ive found my bootanimation files in my phone but they're all .QMG files how do i make my .Zips become .QMG so i can change my boot???
Anyone Pleaseeee...
We don't have even a Cm7. Broadcomm don't release the drivers needed for it yet. But there's an alpha version ported from galaxy Y, not usable, just for testing. But don't worry, devs are working on it
Well about the boot animation thing, you can't change it on stock because it this galaxy doesn't use zip files for It but qmg type file. You will need to flash a custom rom that support zip. I use RazoDroiD by rajrocks and it's pretty smooth

Hi,
I'm using XXBLL5 offical ROM with Perseus 32.1 on my SIII 4G.
I want to add CRT-OFF mod.
I tried this mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1940007 but unfortunately, it doesn't work. S3 is blocked on boot.
Someone has a solution for enabling it in this configuration ?
Thanks
regards,
Kz17
i'm also looking for this mod, but no luck so far, tried the link mentioned above a while back and same issue, stock on boot
only one working is the jkay mod, but i really don't need all that stuff just to get the crt off mod

Hi,
Thanks for your answer.
I'm exactly in the same case. I just would like this mod.
Did you test with last XXBMA3 and XXBMA6 ? Is it the same ?
regards,
just BMA3, same boot loop
BMA6 didn't test it yet, but the changes between these roms are almost insignificant, so i don't think it will work
and the mod from your link is already 2-3 months old, so slim chances to be compatible with 2k13+ roms
you can try this, but be sure to make a nandroid backup before, the effect works, but unfortunetly on my phone is interfeering with some other mods and the system apps keep crashing, making it impossible to use the phone
maybe you are more lucky
replace the file from the archive with the ones in /system/framework
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37539283&postcount=92
I assume yous are using an odexed rom. Most of these mods will be done for a deodexed base so you could try and delete both android.policy.odex and services.odex from system/framework then flash the mod.
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA Premium HD app
check my sig, i never use odexed roms or any stock firmware
Perfect! Thanks for information!!
I'm using BMA6 Stock. It perfectly works.
regards,
I am looking for a ROM that has a nice theme, and is cleared of the Built-in apps that came with the stock OS.
I've tried ReVolutionMod 3.1, but cannot get wifi to work
I also see that CM10 does not have wifi support (because HTC hasn't released source for the driver, or the driver itself?)
I am a little confused about this phone because I thought it had an ICS stock distribution, however mine came with Eclair I beleive.
Could I be pointed to the working ROMS?
Thank you

The working roms are the ones that are based on ICS with or without sense.
HTC hasn't released the source code for the driver.
The desire C is retailed with ICS, as far as I know there haven't been android 2.2 Desire C's.
WiFi should be working flawlessly on your device, although you can try posting a logcat maybe some of the devs could point you to the solution.
I'll take a look at it if you are willing to post it here and see if i could figure out the problem.
Just install a custom kernel like the Prometheus in my signature. Then wifi should work with the Revolution Rom !
I'm not sure what happened with ReVolution, but I was getting "Error" in the little wifi widget persistently, and wasn't able to connect. Sorry I didn't get a logcat for it.
I ended up flashing Slim-Sense-v1, which I'm not sure is the best choice, but it seems stable for now.
Is there a good directory of these ROMS that is kept up-to-date? It seems very scattered and sparse over these forums and other sites for this phone.
Just download one click tool ( however) and put kernel in kernel folder then click boot to bootloader and click flash kernel and WiFi should work.

BOOT.IMG
You have to flash the boot.img included inside the rom...The one which is in root of the folder that is of 800 mhz and if your phone gets in bootloops with that just go in folder named Kernels and then flash any of the 2 kernels then your phone should boot up and WiFi should work
Hit THANKS IF I HELPED YOU

I have tried all the three boot.img files of nameless 7.2.4 rom. The one clocked at 800MHz does not boot. The two others boot the device, but still wi-fi error.
I tried also the boot image of revolutionmodv.3.5. It even does not boot the device (bootloop at htc logo).

Thanks man. I tried it, and many others before. None of them solves wi-fi erro with my stock rom.
I do have a handset from Virgin Canada. Does it make sense that the boot.img should come from the stock of Virgin?

I have no idea if virgin canada is the issue but heres a link to a canadian rom . In that thread is another link for a rom .canadian rom I guess you need to see if there is a boot.img in there that will help .
What we have kinda seen on here is most wifi issues are solely boot.img issues.
Can you have to appreciate I'm at best clueless and and worst dangerous rofl.
Hopefully , just hopefully one of the guys with the knowledge will see my spammage in this section and come to our rescue lol
hope you can get this sorted . I'll pop by in a couple of hours and if you,ve had no luck I'll pm a few of the guys to pop into the thread

The link to the canadian stock rom is broken - the file has been removed.
