Guys,
At first I'd like to thank to all developers releasing us great firmware. I have a question; how can I configure or edit the Locale settings?
I have seen many Locale's on The Dude's edition, I wonder how can it be done?
Thank you in advance,
I would like to know... can we add Locale's? I am using the JF1.5 build and I only see english--- no biggie, I can just add hebrew (although it does remove chinese) by adding the dejavu fonts. I would just like to be able to choose a locale... like the regular folks.
I'm also interested in this
I've sent a PM to TheDude, haven't got a reply yet.

Come on iandroid.com...
Just to potentially bring this issue back out there, I am also interested in this. I have spent the last 4-5 hours scouring the internet with google trying to figure out how to add locales to builds, but I have not succeeded. I love the JF build, all that I am missing is Japanese Local as some of the apps look horrible when localized to English and there is no way to force an app to load in a specific language.
I recently started a new thread on this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=535780&highlight=locales
What I have discovered is:
There is an app, called Custom Locales, that allows you to add new locales. You can either compile it from source, or run the emulator and adb pull it out.
I would try it, but eclipse no longer works on my ubuntu box, so I'll have to find another way.
CustomLocale.apk
So I was able to extract the custom locale app from the emulator... here it is:

hope this helps someone, somehow!
hey !
so here's the deal, I like to have my phone in French (my native language)
but I would also like to have certain apps in English (youtube or twitter for example) I know that certain apps already offer to do this, by going in the settings (Plume comes to mind)
so any idea, on how to make a specific app see the system language as whatever I choose ? using rootexplorer, and editing a specific string ? anybody has a lead ?
I already did some googling, but didn't really find anything solid ....
thanks !
Hi guys,
I have the CDMA verizon 7" galaxy tab but I'm using it in Italy.
Is it fine for me to keep the system in english but at least I would like to have correct "locale" set to IT.
This because many application when installed could be in Italian but they are set to english and many applications for example look for american content (weather, news...) instead of Italian content. Another example is the "search" that is done using google.com instead of google.it either if google.it is the default home page.
I would like at least to get the italian content, language is not a problem.
Does anybody knows where to find the related setting?
I tried to change a little bit properties in the build.prop but without success.
ANy ideas?
Thanks,
Lorenzo
Hi
Just got a Galaxy Gear and have sideloaded the Flesky keyboard, but can't use it as it tells me to change my language settings. However when I try to select the language settings on the gear, I can't select it, as it's 'greyed out'
I'm on the stock rom and not keen on rooting it. Anyone have any suggestions??
Cheers

Lenovo Smart clock - unable to change "display language" on Google Home back to PT
Hello,
I've bought a Lenovo Smart Clock back in December as a Christmas present for my wife; altough Google mentions that for smart displays only a small set of languages is supported, like English UK/US/AU, French, German, Swedish, Japanese, Danish, Italian, Norsk and Nederlands, Lenovo device also supported Brazilian Portuguese.
Thing is, after messing around with the Google Home app and seeing that the "Smart Display" language setting was unset, we set it to English....big, huge mistake!!!...because now we are totally unable to set it back to Portuguese, as the option doesn't show on the list of supported languages. Even doing a factory reset doesn't solve; when the device configuration starts you can select Portuguese, but then the setting on Google Home app overrides it.
Does anyone have a workaround for this?
Google doesn't seem to care an fix this...at least let "unset" the language for smart displays, so that the setting set on the the device prevails in detriment of the one on the app.
Thanks
Solution of your problem
Hello Carrot,
I completely understand your problem and first time, I also face same issues when I install some smart devices in my home. That time I read one blog - in which they give full information and list of home apps which is suitable for any device.I am dropping link of that blog , if it works then share it. - https://bit.ly/3fODRkj
Hi there,
Maybe you’ve already solved the problem. If not, then this may help you:
Open the Google Home app, tap your profile picture and select Assistant settings. Select the Assistant tab and change the language from there. Then reset the clock and set it up using the Google account you just changed the language of the Assistant of. Afterward you can add another language and set up Voice Match if you want to.
Portuguese is available in my Assistant Settings, so it should show up in the list of languages on your phone as well.
