Just went out and bought one for 50$. Droid 4 fits perfectly with no need to modify anything at all, fits and works.
As an owner of the Bionic Lapdock, and a Droid 4, I must partially disagree.
The Droid 4 does not fit snugly. It does work, but it does not sit flat, and cannot be used with the OEM case. You have to remove the shell case to use the docking mechanism (unlike the bionic).
It is, however, a minor inconvenience for such an awesome accessory. Also, those that use webtop 3.0 beta (from the leak) will find the controlls are not the same on the docks for as they were for the linux based version of webtop.
I still wish there was a tablet-like dock similar to the Asus PadFone.
What are you talking about? It fits 100% snug doesn't move at all. And who uses cases anyway?
Anyone got pictures of this? I would love to see, as I'm tinkering with the idea of getting one if I can see how it looks.

Well, I use a kickstand case/holster combo and yeah, it's not petite, but I'm 6'7" (2m for your Euro types) and 300 lbs (> 135 kg, > 21 stone for you English traditionalists) and it's not outsized in my hand or on my belt.
So, yeah, some of us use cases.
TBH, the Bionic lapdock not being case-friendly isn't the crippling liability. The real seal-the-deal disqualifier is the fact that the Bionic lapdock's touchpad is not multitouch.
(Is this the part where someone goes "Who uses the touchpad?" ?)
I think the appropriate Slashdot meme is "In South Korea, only old people use the touchpad."
I have an Otterbox on my Droid 4 and after some minor modification, my phone fits like a glove in the lapdock at the back without having to take the case off.
(I actually have the Atrix lapdock but they are essentially identical. Actually, I think the Atrix dock is about $20-$30 cheaper, at least where I am; I got it brand new from bensoutlet.com for $60 shipped.)
First, I used a razor to trim off the annoying silicon flap from the Otterbox that covers the USB and HDMI ports.
I removed the cover for the docking interface and slightly bored out the two holes for the USB and HDMI male ends before reversing them so that the phone will mount properly. In order to make them reach out far enough to dock the phone on with the case still on it, I wedged a few slices of a white gum eraser that I cut to fit behind the cable ends so that they stick out about 3/4 of an inch; plenty of room now to slide the phone on while it is in the Otterbox and the newly extended jacks are super solid without any wiggle room at all. It actually feels sturdier than it did before when mounting it without a case on as I find that the bulk of the case helps to fill out the platform the phone docks on.
Now that the two male ends of the USB and HDMI connections stick out slightly further than they used to, I had to get creative in order for the flip-down docking pad to properly close. Took me 5 more minutes to Dremel out two small openings that would allow for the dock to shut, and now it works perfectly.
It's true that the touchpad isn't multitouch, but I use a Bluetooth mouse 99% of the time anyways so it doesn't really impact how much I love this thing. For $60, you can't go wrong!
I'll post some pictures of it shortly, I'm out now and don't have it handy. I'm pretty amazed at how easy it was to do, and it doesn't look like a hack-job at all.

i got to say here that i originally loved the natural appearance of the D4, so to protect it i got a rubberized matte black shell for it. now it looks like a weapon with the stealth black finish.

Yes. They use WebTop v3, which is no different to ICS. It DOESN'T give you the Ubuntu experience that you used to get on Gingerbread.

I really hope they make a good car dock for the nexus s. My nexus one car dock was amazing!
I love having the N1 car dock, but the lack of audio output on that thing really sucks. Several times a day I get to dock my phone *and* plug in an audio cable. I could use BT stereo, but the quality is bad. (And since N1 lacks a dock connector, even if the car dock had stereo output, it would use BT.)
That said, doesn't the NS have a real dock connector on it?
I'm keeping my N1 and upgraded my wife's G1 to the NS. The availability of a car dock is the only consideration in whether I upgrade my own phone or not.

If you're with tmobile they sale an universal car MOD EDIT that charges your phone. An extra step yes but lets be real, its worth out to do video calling on the road. that's the only reason I want one.

What universal car docks are you using for your NS now?
They could easily use NFC to launch the dock app, and it would be possible to make an inductive charging back like they had on the palm pre.
No dock port so I have to settle with something more generic. I use this Arkon dock currently in my car. It's the most compact looking one I can find.
I've ordered a Vlingo that will attach to the vent, just until I can get a Brodit...
I could really do with a decent univerals dock though, as I change phones every 3 months

That looks much better than the one I'm using right now. For $12 I'm going to give it a shot.
Eh, I wouldn't recommend that Arkon dock. It's a tight fit for the phone. I bought one when I had the Vibrant and I didn't like how tight of a fit it was. If I was ever in a hurry, I'd be afraid that I would break that dock. It's great for the iPhone because the size is smaller, but for the 4" phones, I would not recommend (especially when you're using a case). But that's just from my experience.
I'm currently using this universal dock. It might not fit your needs since it uses one of those "patented" sticky technologies.

Got a free $20 rewards certificate from Best Buy so I used it on that dock. It's actually a very good dock. I haven't used it with any cases though, so that might be a 50/50 thing. You can look up "bracketron" on youtube to see a clip of it. It's worth the $5 I paid for, perhaps not $24 though.

Besides the custom one for vibrant, it's the best looking universal holder I've ever had. I have the another Arkon universal holder that squeeze from the sides, which works well but a bit large and ugly IMO. This has only 4 little legs that can be seen from the front. The legs are angled in, so they hold the phone really well. Due to the position of the legs being on top/bottom, I wouldn't recommend use it side way. It holds the phone vertically perfectly well. On the topic of size, unlike the original iphone 4 version of the same dock, its body at the lower part can be extended to accommodate larger phone. As for the back of the holder, it's the same as the other universal one I own, one hinge at the suction cup and one ball joint at the holder, both adjustable. I'd still get this one if given a chance to go back in time. Everything said is my own personal opinion of course.

Awesome, thank you for the write-up. One more question, in portrait mode, is the microUSB port obscured? I want to make sure the port isn't blocked for a car charger.
It's unfortunate that you don't recommend using this in landscape mode, but I suppose at $12 that's something I could live with. College budget ftl. >_>

I thought that too... I don't know how well inductive charging like a power mat would work with the NFC antenna. I also don't know that you can use the NFC to launch an app... isn't it link driven? Maybe that's something you could do with intents, I haven't given it too much thought. I think the inductive charging is the bigger issue.
Does anyone know if the NS has the magnetic switch to detect a dock?
Hey guys, I found this in the Droid 3 section. This mount seems pretty sick. I may just cave and buy it. Up to now I have kept modifying my car mount from my original droid. I made it work for my d2, and now (kinda..) my bionic. But it is not as secure anymore.
This looks nice!
That actually does look sweet! I wonder how it holds up and how long the suction holds.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
It looks sweet. The only problem I see is the clip looks wide. Going off the dimensions of the iPhone 4 it looks to be about 1 1/8 inch wide. If you clip it on the side you will have to cover the charging port or volume down button since there is only about an inch of room there. It says it can accommodate up to a a 5" screen so you might be able to clip it top to bottom. I might still go ahead and get it and mod it if I have to. Good find.

Why do you call those docks "junk"
Perhaps, people don't want to buy device specific car docks every time they get a new device.
Does look pretty nice, the only thing I see is that it would take both hands at an awkward angle to to squeeze the back then mount the phone...instead of just placing the phone in the cradle with the oem dock.

I just got this one yesterday. Gotta say, I'm pretty dissapointed. Jiggles around quite a bit, even though it's locked down tight. The suction cup mount holds very well though.

This is awesome. I wonder how dependable it is? I need something that I can depend on for my motorcycle. Do you think it would work if I have a Body Glose case with the swivel clip? (Obviously just the nub would be on the phone, not the whole clip)
The one Made by Motorola for the Driod Bionic, only cost 10$ more. Plus to charges the phone, and activates the Dock App.
The on in the OP looks like a Giant clothes pin with a suction cup attached to it. It would come in handy for phones that dont have car mount made for them.

I don't know but I know they use this sticky technology in things like clean room door mats to take dirt off your shoes for entering a sterile environment. The sticky never runs out, you just wipe it with a damp cloth. As far as on a motorcycle...well I won't make any guarantees.
I've used the Arkon Mobile Grip with my Sensation and it works great, I've recommended it to others on xda and elsewhere and they've been happy with it.
I've tested it with the Infuse and it fits with room to spare, so it'll work with the Bionic.
I have the motorola car mount and it recently started to mess up (the car charger chord doesn't fully connect to the car mount thus no charging unless directly connected to bionic) this one looks nice I'm going to buy...FYI its on Amazon for under 20

I have to say, these are pretty bad ass universal docks... Why go device specific.. I understand that its just the same price, but the Bionic for some of us isn't the first phone we'd mount in our car... So its actually a savings... Plus, the cardock app isn't GREAT, the google car home is universal...
I went with the Clingo
before this I used the Universal VZW vent mount and the DroidX Car Mount... Both IMO sucked and Bulky-

After trying several cases for my Nexus 7, knowing there aren't any specifically for the Nexus 7 at any retail stores, this was the best one I've come across. It will hold me over until an official case comes out (I've kept the receipt so I can return it). I just can't have such an awesome piece of tech sitting around without a case and without the ability to use it as a stand for viewing. The leather is genuine and the case is simply gorgeous. I love the way if holds the tablet without the clamps/rubberized holding mechanism actually rubbing or touching the bezel. All ports are accessible while it is in the case and the power/volume buttons are very easily accessible.
Found it at Fry's this morning on the way to work but it will set you back $59.99. One of the best portfolio stand cases I've ever owned for any of my devices. High end.

None, which is hard to say about most cases. I've always had something I've disliked about a case but have dealt with it. I've also always went for the cheaper the better in the past. This case is truly a "you get what you pay for" case. The way it holds the very edges of the tablet is my favorite part. It looks like it is floating in the case and the parts that hold the tablet in place never really become part of the view. The access to all buttons and inputs as well as the quality of the leather are great. The actual stand aspect allows for infinite viewing angles and never feels cheap, like the stand portion is going to collapse at any moment.
This case looks really nice. I personally want a colored case though and not the standard brown/black. Also, I'd rather pay a bit more for a case that I really like and thats going to last me a while then buy a cheap case that I'm not that into, deciding that Im not satisfied with it and having to buy more. So if I see something that I fall in love with then I don't mind pulling the trigger as long as its not 100+

How about the speaker in the back, is it covered or are there holes for it?
There are no holes for the speaker. I did a test at max volume and I have no idea why but it sounds louder with it in the case then out of the case. It could be the way it's configured with the speaker near flush but with a decimeter or so gap. I know with my phones and tablets that they tend to sound louder when they are angled near a wall and I seem to get the same effect with this case.

I don't know, may be not the same quality but it's hard to judge from photos, or even the prizes.
Only way to judge is hand-on experience like the OP's case, his case looks good also because when the back holds on to four corners only, whereas these ones are a bit 'uneven' (when viewed in portrait mode) : p
I would perfer something that holds on to the edges of Nexus 7 only, like the Official Case or this:

i've got one of these. works fairly well, but can take a bit of getting used to.
I really like using my Microsoft Arc keyboard. It's pretty much full size, but I can't type anywhere near as fast on anything smaller. It's slick, light and has a carry pouch. Tiny dongle into USB OTG cable.
I also have a mini bluetooth keyboard that is about the size of my phone. It's ok, but not any great advantage over the on screen keyboard.
Out of all the bluetooth keyboards that I have seen, Logitech one is by far the best.

Like I posted in another tread, I found this keyboard on ebay significantly cheaper (open box)

I'm using my old Galaxy Tab keyboard/case. Had to shim the bottom to get it centered in the case, but it works reasonably well.

I still have the hp touchpad keyboard, it's pretty good to type on and light weight too, just not sure how to carry both together.

This keyboard is super cheap and at least one guy is claiming that it works great with his Nexus 7.
Has anyone else tried it?

I've got one too. Great to haul around for note taking. It fits well in a bag since it's ~1/4" thick up until the battery compartment. Just wedge your N7 under the thin part and let the back of the keyboard sit off to the side.

Just got another comment from the Amazon thread, and apparently it doesn't fit the Nexus 7 very well:
R. Brent says:
I also bought this keyboard to use with the Nexus 7. I'm a bit impressed with how usable it is, as long as I remember not to try and type quickly.
The Nexus 7 is not a good fit. The adjustable clip doesn't quite get tight enough, and the Nexus 7 will slide out from the sides. However, it does work to hold it upright.
For less than $10, I still think it was worth the price though.

You know what would kick ass? A Microsoft Surface-like case - with a kickstand in the back and a hard cover in the front that is also a keyboard.

Just saw a wireless keyboard and mouse on groupon for $29. I'd post a link but can't. If someone can find it it would be great to hear your thoughts. Ends in like 20 some hours lol

I purchased 3 different ones just like that. they all work with NeXus 7 no issues. The top arm moves up and down and fits the NeXus 7 just fine. I even have it with the NeXus7 case on it. then it becomes a tight fit.
But it does work, and for 10-15 bucks depending on which one you purchase.

Naw, not quite:
If you turn the case sidewise, the Nexus slides out. Keeping the Nexus inside its case makes it a good fit though.
I do an awful lot of traveling, which means an awful lot of rental cars. At home I use a Pro-Clip system for my Note 2, but haven't found anything that is easily packed and easily transferable from rental car to rental car. I would rather have a vent mount solution than a "windshield suction cup" or a "weighted bean bag that rests on the dash".
Anyone have experience with a solid, small, easily-packed vent mount/clip that will accommodate the Note 2?
Thanks in advance.
I have one that mounts into my CD player slot. Universal and works wonderfully. About $30 on Amazon

Just ordered the CD one for 17 bucks. Won't ship til 21st though. I tried a vent mount from Radio Shack that was on clearence but didn't work right with my vents.

Cool. I used to use ProClip mounts but I switch phones so frequently that I had to stop doing that. I've been using one for about 6 months and it's been great

Looks good, but a little bit bulkier than I'd like. Ideally it would be something that fits easily into the outside pocket of my computer bag with minimal fuss. I hadn't thought about a CD-slot holder, thanks for the pointer. I'm not sure it's a workable solution for me, though, as not all my rentals have a CD slot in the dash. I'm almost tempted to grab a couple of design engineers and put up a Kickstarter for something sturdy that folds credit-card thin and hooks into the vents. =)

Pics? And is that a T/A or a Firehawk? Hard to tell from your avatar but the nostrils look bigger.

Sure I'll grab some. It's a Firehawk. I'm glad somebody knows the difference!

Alright thanks. And I have a red '98 Trans Am (not a WS6) with the 6 speed. I'm jealous. imo the WS6 hood should have looked like the Firehawk's as it fits the curves of the car better.
Here are a couple pics I snapped this morning.

I use this mount as well and love it. No vibrations, and it fits the phone with my flip case on it. Also holds the Note 2 in landscape as well. The price is perfect but I would have paid twice as much for it.
