[Q] how to disable camera sound? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How to disable focus and shutter sound?
Sent from my GT-N7000

Just enter silent mode. Unless you are in a country which disallows it this should work.
If that doesn't work download an audio manager which allows you to control 6 different volumes for the Note, something like Hide It Pro

sadly the camera sound is not linked to the system sounds anymore like in GB.
Now it is linked to the Ringtone bar

It can be done very simply:
Navigate to system/media and look for shutter .ogg file. Delete it, or rename if you want a backup to restore later. No more shutter sounds.

Sounds

Guys, second question from me, Ive had another look around but no joy..
Is is possible to change the UI sounds from the default, such as the volume sound and the keyboard clicks?
if you have root access, you can modify the sound files in /system/media/audio/ but you must keep the same file names and the you apply the same sound and it will work. its a simple workaround without modifying sense ui itself.

Can you not get what you want by choosing:
-Settings
-Language and Keyboard Settings
-Samsung Keyboard
then, click on/off Vibrate on Keypress, click on/off Sound on Keypress ??
nope, there is no option to disable the clicking noise. It's pretty odd that settings is left out.
I'm not sure this would help, but for the leaked 2.3.3 Gingerbread if you go to:
Settings>Sound>Uncheck Audible Tones
It removes the noise from the stock Samsung Keyboard.

The problem with that is that it disabled the audible tones when you are typing in a phone number.

Yeah, yur right, there's a setting for the Android Keyboard to disable sound and vibrate, but not on the Samsung Keyboard. Maybe try a rom that has that feature, a lot of them are adding mods to different KB's
Just figured it out. If you go into sound settings and turn down system volume it turns down or off the keyboard sound. Also the vibration intensity affects the keyboard
Can't someone just mod the
App

[Q] camera and effects shutter sounds

So i found that camera shutter is very loud and annoying. I removed some files responsible for this (yes i should rename it with '.bak' at the end of file name) from /system/media/audio/ui. It works well for [auto] mode but only for this. Any one have any idea how to remove ALL sounds from all effects in camera? Android 4.3 stock rooted

Did you open the camera app, go into settings and just turn of the camera sounds? There is that option in the camera settings...

Then your phone is not running the current version of AT&T firmware or your phone is not an AT&T phone. Or you just missed the setting as it is buried deep in the menu.
Just to make sure, open the camera (stock app), tap menu, tap settings, then tap the gear at top right, and look at very bottom of list.

Extract the zip file of the custom rom of your choice, copy files from /system/media/audio/ui and paste them in the same location on phone using file explorer and assign necessary permissions. You must be rooted.

Restricting app access to folders - how?

How can I restrict an app to NOT be able to access a specific folder ( not in /Android) ?
A messaging app always scans my internal storage and makes its image picker almost unusable because another app is storing many image assets in plain image format, and these images pop up to the top of the image picker.
I want to hide these from my proper album photos while using the image picker so I want to not allow the messaging app to access a specific folder. Is there a way to do this via adb or in an app?
A quick google search didn't have much luck, maybe I searched the wrong phrases? I guess it's the latter, but please give me some guidance.
Android 9, not rooted, no bl unlock
Go to the folder you want to hide and rename it with a period in front of the name to make it a hidden folder. Example: ".Pictures"
Set photo app to ignore hidden files.
Or ditch the trouble app...

Though the app which actually makes use of the folder won't work.. I could've made a toggle to add/remove the dot in the folder name and just use that toggle between using image picker and said app.
