Best ICS rom with touchwiz - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

currently on GB checkrom, was hoping to wait for UK offical release but fed up with it and really want to try kingdroid or themidteam
also how to safely flash those rom? as far as i know as soon as i have ics kernel NO WIPE or factory reset. given that i think i should be 100% safe if just stick to ICS, should i want to go back to gingerbread, what should i do? flash a gb offical rom root or non root rom with odin?

Do you want safety first or Touchwiz features?

so which ICS rom

king
kingdroid v2.0 with franco r4 kernel
i find it to be the best for now.
check it for yourself

Stock ICS is Best ICS for GN7000

My vote goes to CriskeloRom v4.

I would go with MiDNote. Safe kernel, TW5, really detailed installation instructions...

what are the safe kernel that I can flash on stunner rom

As mentioned. Above.
Any kind soul can help?
No safe kernel that I know of ATM.
CF-Root could perhaps work, but it's unsafe.
CM9 kernel probably wouldn't get you past the reboot stage.
Franco v3 and SpeedMod (both ICS kernels) are designed for TW-based Roms,
therfeore probably useless for Stunner.
If you like Stunner more than you are afraid of the superbrick scenario, then stay
with it, but don't do any wipes/resets. Wait for Neo to return and develop it
further in a safe direction.
If you're too scared to stick to Stunner, go back to GB using PC Odin, get
root, and move on.
agree with you chasmodo, im on Stunner too... still stick with stunner and just waiting for neobuddy comeback with safe method to work around on stunner on eMMC bug and for sure neo will provided update on out beloved Stunner.
read some user try another ROM and return back to Stunner at last. Stunner still 1 of the best ROM ever made for GNote
Stunner version. 19 next fo stock with speedmod is also most battery efficient compared to other roms.

Best JB rom + how do you get there from stock ICS?

Hi,
I'm currently on stock ICS (4.0.4).
My phone has recently started occasionally/randomly restarting itself.
I've read that doing a factory reset or data wipe will result in a brick so was thinking of switching to a custom rom.
What's the best Jelly Bean rom? or isn't there a good stable one?
If not then what's the best stable/usable ICS rom and how do I get there from stock?
I know I need to flash GB via pc odin, but what after that?
There are warnings that say "FLASHING FROM STOCK ICS OR ROMS BASED ON STOCK ICS WILL RESULT IN A BRICK!"
I just wanna be as clear as possible. Would hate to have a brick.
Thanks.

JB roms are still in development and not so stable for daily use yet. For flashing custom ICS you do not have to flash GB rom, just flash safe custom ICS kernel and flash custom rom through cwm recovery.
You can also wipe your current rom after flashing safe custom kernel. No need to flash custom rom just because you cannot wipe on stock kernel
For my personal of view, liquid smooth jb v2.0 beta is the best at the moment.
If you on rooted ics. You can flash jb rom thru safe kernel such as cm9 kernel, gb kernel or notecore kernel.
But please read carefully and understand what noted at op and follow the installation method.
Good luck.

ok I see.
So I need to go from Stock ICS > Safe ICS > Custom ROM
Have you guys got a link to an easy tutorial?
Thanks

Never Never Wipe on ICS as stated in op.
Now everybody knows JB is still under development and in preview. So I think you should have to wait for a stable version to enjoy the juice
For ICS you can try Cleanote v5,Kingdroid or RR for better performance and battery life
Here are the links :-
Cleanote v5 ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716088
Rocket Rom ----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654838
Kingdroid ----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652831
Hope it Helps

Here is the best thread for rooting and flashing custom kernel on Note- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
Once you are rooted and on safe custom kernel you can follow the instructions on your chosen custom rom OP.
In terms of safer installation method. It have too many of opinions around note forum. Some will say flash any rom or nandroid by using abssy 4.2 kernel, some will say not neccesary to use abssy 4.2 kernel with the secure and safe kernel exists such as notecore and speedmod kernel.
Some will advice you must go back gb before flash cm base rom and some will tell you totally bull**** and not neccesary to go back gb before flash cm base rom with secure tw kernel around.
Confuse? For me, all of them have the right opinion and nothing wrong with them. Thats your own smartphone which cost about usd 500. If you scare of something, just follow the long installation method. If you feel lazy to take do such of long intallation step, you can always use the secure kernel to swap in between gb, tw and cm base rom.
But anyway, is your own asset, your own choice. You are the one who will take full responsibility for doing any modification, rooting and flashing. Not anyone else here.
You can always refer dr.ketan advice.

Thanks everyone.
I will follow all your advice when I'm ready flash the rom. Most likely tomorrow.

Simpler if you are on warranty and you can make use of it and off you don't want to flash or to scared to do a flash then wipe if the phone bricks you can send it on ssc for repair on warranty.

install JB Paranoid preview with ICS and SpeedMod kernel

Hello,
I would like to install the JB preview coming from Paranoid :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797698
I am curently on samsung DDLPA ICS ROM, with root, and kernel SpeedMod K3-11.
please, let me know if I say something wrong. I want to be sure I don't make any mistake :
- my kernel is reliable. I can reboot into recoveray, and make some wipe of caches, dalvik cache etc... without having the risk of brick my Note,
because this is not a stock Kernel.
- it is adviced to flash the JB rom starting from a clean GB. but because my kernel is reliable, I could do it directly from my cirrent ROM + Kernel ?
- because JB has it own kernel, I will lose my speedMod Kernel.
please, let me know if what is listed above is right, or not.
using a computer to flash a new ROM will be difficult for few next days. it would be great for me to be able to flash it directly from my Note.
in any case, I wait for feedback before doing anything...
thanks
Olivier
I think you are right but why taking risks
Better flash a prerooted gb then go to jb

Best way to proceed when reverting to stock FW?

Hiya
Was thinking of reverting back to stock ICS 4.0.4 but with all the unsafe kernel stuff going on I was wondering, what is the best way to proceed?
I want to revert because I feel that the stock rom was overall more stable and always "worked", but I dont want to brick my phone and I'd like to be able to change rom if something better comes along
Currently im running the stable GT n7000 release from cynagenmod, with CWM 6.0.1.0
So any pointers?

If your on ics better be in safekernel like notecore, speedmod, or goku.
Flash gb rom first and do the 3 wiping before flashing the ics, use pc odin. This is clean install, its the best way before installing an ics.
Just flash ics using pc odin.
And dont forget to be on safe kernel after flash.

[Q] Newbies On Rom & Root

hi guys im new to roms , kernels and roots. So what i have is a samsung galaxy note which is kinda outdated using gingerbread 2.3.6. Since i saw lots of post about fantastic rom such as the rocketrom , alliancerom and alot more and they also come with JellyBeans.
The main problem i facing is , i would like to know about the facts that after playing with roms what will happen to my phone ? i mean in future will the devices gone wild or maybe dead. I have no idea wth that , so i hope someone enable to give me some advices and consequences of doing these. Any helpful tips will be much appreciate. =)
i wish to change my phone into rocketrom with the latest version of it. so is there any kernels that i can use which is absolutely stable & brickfree.
THANKS FOR ANY HELPFUL TIPS =)
running GB... and want to go to JB
1. root
2. install CWM
3. download Rocket rom on to storage
4. boot into cwm
5. wipe data factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, format /system
5. install the rom
do a lot of reading
Playing with roms doesnt make your phone go wild or get bricked until u flash a rom in a wrong way
And you always need to be on a safe kernel before u flash a rom
As u are on gb,all stock gb roms are safe to flash..so root your phone and get cwm
Then do wipes and flash the rom

All gb roms are safe to flash..so just get rooted and flash rocketrom
And rocketrom comes with a safe and brickfree kernel,so its not required to flash another kernel after u flash rocketrom
And i guess there are no other kernels compatible with jb roms other than the philz kernel that comes with the rom

i second that.. use Philz kernel that comes with the rom. Tested i flashed Hydracore and my phone wont boot. had to flash back RRv2 JB.
hydracore v7 does not work with the tw based roms jb as of now. and will not work until an official jb rom is released.
IcIc
btw how bout kernel which fits properly without brick with RocketRom ICS V12 :laugh::laugh:
