hello!
i have a motorola milestone with android version 2.2.1, firmware config. vers. GAS_ASIA_USAMS1FRYORTSEA_P013.
the problem is that, during a call, when i switch to speaker the microphone almost is not working. the other person hears me only when i shout into the phone.
!edit!
also the microphone doesn't work when i record video. on the video recording it hears only background noise.
i tried to record video with the hands-free ser and its the same problem.
could anyone help me?
Thanks!
anyone?
anyone?
I have quite similar problem but with milestone2. It doesn't work in normal phone call, but works on camera Maybe it's some software problem like that one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1690817 I will try it today
So after studying my Milestone 2 a lot (flashing it thousand times, bricking, unbricking, disassemblying and assemblying with some strange parts of other phones ) I have an idea about your phone.
There are two micriphones in Milestone (both - 1 and 2, Droid as well). One in the lower part (the one which you use when you are talking to somebody in phone mode) and second in the upper part (in the middle, right to the camera lens). First is used in normal phone mode, speaker mode and camera.
Second only (not sure) in speaker and camera mode. When you turn phone to speaker mode, upper mic becomes the main one, and the lower one is just catching the background noise (still not sure maybe the lower one is the main, and the upper one i canceling the background noise, but it's unlikely - will figure it out, when they will ship me a new lower mic ). The same issue is with camera mode. Both microphones are working, but (now for sure) upper one is the main one.
So.... maybe you have broken upper microphone?
microphone
interesting stuff!
i don't know if it's broken. i bought it like that.
you say that 2nd mic is right of the lens. but the only other hole in the phone is up, near the audio jack. see the picture

Yes, that's the place. I wasn't sure how to describe that place
i just tried a sound recorder app and it records very good, so this app is using the main mic.
could be a way to make a software change in the OS to use the main mic also in speaker mode, or cam ?
maybe the problem will be that the mic is too close to the speaker, but anyway would be good to try.
anyone??????

I've been wondering and cursing HTC over the years about their crappy headsets, but with the HD2 the situation is just terrible. How can you make a great looking headset with so cool audio buttons and put the cheapest possible earplugs in the world? Many manufacturers simply make the headset as an adapter, such that you can plug in any headphones to it.
So here's my question. Is there anything out there that combines the advantages of these two:

there isn't yet. however you can cut the earplugs of the original adapter and solder a female 3.5mm jack. it's really easy.
I followed this wiki http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Leo/LEOHTCInEarHeadphones
Works great. Here is a picture
this is my headset now, followed the wiki, attached my broekn wired JBL Reference 410, and walla. here it is. feel so good in my ears. (sad that i cannot attach the volume controller because im running out of the wires. lol).
I want to do the same with my headset the only worry is that its a 250$ Denon headset so realy dont want to mess it up.

I have done the headphone mod to my HTC stock device, but I have also tried the .cab file floating around that means you can use iphone designed headphones on HD2.
I was having a beer with a mate who has an iphone the other night and tried out his stock headphones and found they skipped tracks and played/paused tracks on my sense player, although the volume buttons didn't seem to work. Also, weirdly the screen locked every time I skipped tracks. Hope this helps anyone having this problem as it seems very common.
I really wished that HTC came with headset like the Nokia N95 8gb (see image below)
The remote part is the best bit as you can add any normal headphone to and still be able to use the remote, plus it has all the controls you need really, eg Volume, play pause, stop. Th
I just found this on the HTC website as an accessory for the HD2, however it isn't clear if it has a radio antenna built in, and it doesn't seem to have any controls for music playback such as pause, forward/back.

Hi all, Just upgraded to a HD2 from my Zest, I too am interested in this, could you post a link to the cab file if possible.
I've read about that the iphone headset will just work with the HD2 but only play.pause works, I mainly want to be able to skip tracks, so any help would be appreciated.
Does any one know how these remotes work, Is it just a sound played through the input of the phone or is it something more complicated, maybe we could write an application for this.
Ok so this is the set up I now have,
I have an iPhone in-line remote connected to my HD2 and I'm using the app from this thread to add functionality for skipping tracks.
The remote I have is from a seller on amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001C0LBEG/ref=oss_product
Hope this helps some people out there.
Any with Volume control also ?

Hi guys, I'm on the official LM5 Jellybean firmware, and have a couple of issues to share.
1. When I'm listening to music (speaker or earphones), during quiet portion of the song (ie. intro, outro) the sound doesn't come out when the volume is at level 1, like it'd be dead silent. As soon as the song progresses to louder portions, the sound comes back. This bothers me because I use noise canceling earphones and I don't need the volume to go higher than 1 or 2.
2. Also, another issue is when I unplug my earphones while the music is playing, the phone doesn't automatically pause the music (like it did on ICS), and it would continuing playing thru the loud speaker.
If anyone can confirm the same issues (especially on LM5) that'd be great!
You sure it's not your headphones dropping the sound? Tried others?

I'm almost certain that it's not my earphone's fault. I've tried two pairs, and even when music is playing through the loudspeaker at volume 1, when I put my ear up against it, I can hear silence when the song is quiet.
I don't think it's the mp3 file's fault either because I've tried playing youtube Vevo songs too.
Was the other pair a regular headphone, or noise cancelling as well? Just sounds like some sort of noise cancelling effect. But you never know.
Never noticed it on mine.

I've tried the my Sony noise cancelling headphones, the stock Samsung ear bud earphones, and regular iPod earphones. And as I mentioned, it doesn't even play out of the loud speaker, so I'm sure it's not a hardware issue, more like something to do with the codecs. The relatively quiet sounds just doesn't come out at all when it's at volume 1 or 2.
For me, if I listen to this song's beginning (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rb9CuupX5-Q), at volume 1, it's really choppy because of the quieter portion. At volume 3+, it plays fine.
If you have time, can you try it on yours (LM5?). See if you can hear a difference between volume 1 and volume ~5.
What are you using to play? I don't have volume steps as in 1 or 3. Or are you just using this as one notch from mute etc.

Yeah I guess it's the same as one notch away from mute.

Yep -- this is a bug that is still not fixed. It affects wired and speaker audio -- but supposedly not Bluetooth. A lot of people just don't notice it, because of the music they listen to, but try listening to Classical and it will drive you nuts.
We need to complain to Samsung...
Well looks like I'm not alone on this issue. The thing is this problem didn't exist before I upgraded to jellybean, I wonder what they did to ye firmware that made this happen.
Hopefully Samsung will fix this.

It did exist before jellybean -- on both TouchWiz and CM ROMS. Perhaps it has been made worse with JB, but trust me it has always been there.

It never happened to me when I was on ICS, and now it's here with JB, so I'm kind of disappointed.
I recently dropped my HTC One and the microphone is now knackered, people telling me they could only hear distortion on the other end (same if I used the voice recorder/recorded video).
The HTC One uses a dual membrane mic. After doing a self-diagnosis I found that 'Mic 1' was faulty, but that 'Mic 2' still works fine (which explains why people said they could vaguely hear my voice).
I have two questions:
1 - If I root my phone, is there any way of disabling Mic 1? If yes...
2 - Would Mic 2, when used alone, be adequately good/loud enough to use to make calls?
Many thanks,
Dan.

Second, i think you mean the mic on the backside, if you talk about Mic2?
Third, if you answer the Question, i´ll take a look at it. But i can tell you, that the Mic in the Back is a rear Mic for Recording Video-Sound or Noise Canceling.

Thank you for you reply. You're absolutely correct, I hadn't a clue what dual membrane means! I only discovered it had such a thing after doing the diagnostic test and finding it tested two mics, the second of which worked just fine. I therefore thought that maybe I could isolate the working mic in order to avoid a costly repair. I came across the term dual membrane after a quick Google, and rather than sift through useless information that did little to answer my question, I decided to call on the help of those more knowledgeable than myself (such as you!).
Having done the test again, you are correct; the dual membrane was a red herring and mic 2 was indeed the mic on the back (I didn't even realise there was a mic on the back!).
So my question is in fact: is it possible to use the rear microphone for voice calls? Although I imagine I would have to use loud-speaker to make it even remotely practical. I might just pick up a replacement for 15 quid (including replacement USB port, which I could do with anyhow) and have a go at fixing it myself. How hard can it be..?
I think it should be possible, i will look if its ROM- or Kernelside, to disable the front mic.
I would suggest to repair it or send it in, because i had the same issue, too.
But in my case im lucky with my contract and got a new one after a day.
So I just got this about a week ago and I notice that the top speaker buzzes a lot in Clash of Clans but hardly anywhere else. I also play Marvel's CoC and I think it may buzz sometimes there but I might be imaging it (if it did it a lot I would notice it). It doesn't always buzz in Clash of Clans but it happens a lot so I'm thinking something is wrong with the phone or could it be the game itself?
The buzzing sounds just like a blown out speaker. When I set it to play music there is no problem, even when I turn it up really loud.
Did you try cleaning the speaker holes with a toothbrush or something ? The dirt inside the speaker holes might cause such issue.

OK, I will try that. Its a brand new phone but maybe it will help
All N6's I've seen do this. I've noticed it happening when the battery is getting kinda low <50% and you do something that uses the GPU. (video game, recents menu, animations, etc)
Kinda annoying but normal for the N6.

Little offtopic but i also play MCOC for a long time 60K player, looking for a good allience. I've observed the same buzzing sound with my Nexus6 at the maximum volume level within the game, the background music of mcoc is not optimized for stereo i guess. If you don't have such buzzing with regular mp3 files, it is fine. This is my fave tool for phone speaker cleaning

Hi, I have a S07 rk3066 7" mtcb-kyd-v2.59 v4.4.4 - fitted in my 2007 BMW E90.
I need a 20PIN wire diagram and canbus 16pin diagram, as the previous owner fitted the harness from a different broken head unit.
The 20pin socket wires are wrong.
I have had to cut all but the left speaker wires, positive power yellow, GND black, and ACC red. I have found that pins 17-20 are the right front & rear, pin is ILLUM, as for the rest I don't know which go to the canbus (BMW-BG-04)
Looking at the rear of the unit, pin1 is top left=
1. Left Speaker -
2. Leftl Speaker -
3. Left Speaker -
4. Left Speaker -
5.
6. ILLUMINATION
7.
8.
9. AMP +
10. ANTENNA +
11. Right Speaker -
12. Right Speaker -
13. Right Speaker -
14. Right Speaker -
15. GND
16. POWER POSITIVE +
17. ACCESSORY
18.
19.
20.
Here are some photos of the above 20pin socket, the canbus socket wires and the head unit diagram on the hu (doesn't match up with the wires in the socket I have though ☹).
So, if anyone with the same unit can provide a diagram of the harness sockets, canbus wires, etc, I would really appreciate it.
Cheers...

Pic #1. This harness 20pin HU socket isn't the correct one for this head unit. The previous owner of my BMW e90 installed it after the previous HU died, obviously used the old harness.
