Anyone else get throttled last night? - LG Thrill 4G

Both my att phones data dropped to 256k last night. Weird because one is work and one home..totally different plans. I work for my dad so work is on his family plan and home my plan.
The reason both got throttled is because I swapped sim cards so my wife could have atrix and when I called they wouldn't give me info on my work phone because of is in my dads name but when she properly assigned atrix to my home account internet came back to normal speeds. So since I can't find out til I can get my dad to call I was wondering if anyone else with unlimited data has been throttled..I got a few warning texts last month and bam June 1 in middle of the night 236k.
And I'm sure in over 3gb if we r close to the end of the billing month.

Where they in the same house or area? May have been the tower

My wife's thrill got throttled once, then I called AT&T and *****ed about it
they haven't throttled since,
My daughter's thrill always gets throttled after she hits the magical 6GB but I have her on T-Mobile thou

I wasn't throttled here in central MA.

I got hammered last night and couldnt use facebook on my phone because of it.....is that the same thing????

I was thinking that is what happened to my phone. I just figured I used to much data this month.

[Q] AT&T Nexus One on AT&T

Hello All,
I was wondering if the AT&T version of the Nexus one is exempt from the auto data plan adding from AT&T? THANKS.
I'm not positive, but I believe they can recognize an N1 IMEI.
EDIT: See this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694126

I think it is, I have one of the really old $15/month UNLIMITED data plans for dumbphones and using my at&t N1 for about 8 months I haven't had any changes. If it does for some reason add a data plan, you will get a text instantly, at which point you should call at&t to cancel the data. Just tell them you put your sim into a friends phone to try it out our something. Hope this helps.
I'm on the grandfathered in media works package ($20 for unlimited data, 1500 sms, and 200 mms). I have had plenty of smart phones, including the N1 since March and have never had any issues with it
As long as you don't abuse the **** out of your data plan, you'll be fine.
my N1 shows as unrecognized by att....
they auto switched me at 11 months. I fought and fought. Retention phone person and everything. They did nothing for me, I am stuck on the 2gb plan and they rolled me back to a 29.99 minute plan since I don't use many minutes. So after an hour on the phone the cut my bill back by $10.
I'm switching carriers after I move and see who has the better coverage.
They didn't care I was a 13 year att customer.
edit, shouldn't say 11 months, should be however long the att version has been out, i had the tmo version before that.

ATT is weird. My n1 is not recognized. I used to have captivate and they recognized it. So I got rid of it. I use my data plan a lot. I mean alot. I use it as my internet connection at work. I am on a unlimited media plan. 15 bucks month. Cant beat it. I am sorry but I use the chit out of it. Lol. That's is the onlyreason I refuse to change my carrier and sign new contract with ATT. With the money I save I can buy new device whenever I need. Which I think it won't happen soon.

I was on the cheap media net plan until last month. Apparently they did some audits in my area. I got slapped with the 2Gb data plan. A friend of mine who was using an old iphone 3G with no data plan got it auto added as well. It seems like ATT is cracking down lately. I plan on switching to another carrier in the near future.
They will switch you to the proper data plan on the ATT nexus one. I finally just got hit this month from my 15dollar data plan. Some people still haven't been hit yet, I was one of them.
I'm a mod of the ATT forum over at Howardforums and we have a huge thread tracking nexus ones who get bumped. Ironically I finally got hit this month while others got hit months ago. I haven't touched my ATT account for over 4 years too nor signed a contract. It bothered me a bit!

[Q] AT & T throttling data on my LG thrill after 2GB. Any solutions?

I am paying for unlimited data plan (which means staying under top 5% users ).
This month I went on vacation, and my kids used up 2GB on netflix, and now I have data at snails pace for the next 2-3 weeks. Is there any way around this?
I am already upset that they dont have gingerbread yet for this phone.
Any help? I read that services.jar can be modified... any good guide for first time users? or anybody can help?
Thanks.
Im having the same problem my internet is so slow now im about to cancel my line with att

From 2:30 - 6:00 pm my browser speeds are horribly slow. The only way around it is to use wifi.

I am sure one way would be to change to a 4GB plan by paying an extra $10...
AT&T is not good at math.. for them "unlimited < 4GB"
All these wireless providers are doing this throttling crap. The all advertise unlimited data, then throttle the data rate at some arbitrary amount of data.
I would call AT&T and tell them to unthrottle you or you are going to go to Sprint or Virgin Mobile.
Actually, if I had it to do all over again, I would go with Virgin Mobile or Sprint. My next phone will not be an AT&T or Verizon phone.
The only reason I used AT&T was because Verizon and Sprint dont work in my wife's office.. Their service is still horrible everywhere except her workplace. I had hoped iphones may have helped AT&T, but seems Apple made most of the money

AT&T Glalaxy Note unlimited date on LTE?

I am sure i am not the only one who is wondering. Maybe someone has the answer.
I am currently grandfathered into AT&T unlimited data. Will i still be able to be grandfathered in it if i get the NOTE? Only reason i ask is cause it is LTE, i am pretty sure we can but just making sure!! Thanks
It should. I have the HTC Vivid, which is LTE and still have my unlimited plan.

Cool, I hope Ican Phoenix just got ATT LTE couple weeks ago can't wait. I have the NOTE right now which i got from handtech, but if i can have LTE on it i will buy that and sell this on ebay.
Only thing I will miss is the hardware button, but no big deal as I had the Dell streak before so i was used to it.
I have unlimited data from iphone to inspire and now to skyrocket. Ive now had the skyrocket for about 2 weeks now and i get text messages from att saying im a heavy data user. every since i got the phone it was mainly speedtest here and there with one 300mb movie and 86mb of music downloaded. Past couple days places where i normaly get 56mb from speedtest is not even breaking 1mb. It says unlimited in my account and i only used about 2gb. So i think unlimited is not unlimited anymore.

Straight Talk CS woes

So Straight Talk has been trying to get me to switch to a T-Mobile SIM for a while now, so I finally convinced them to send me one for free. I got it today and tried to activate it, and they're telling me that it's not available in my area (after nagging me for weeks to switch). I called in and they're trying to tell me that it's because the Nexus 4 is an AT&T phone and not a T-Mobile unlocked. I kept trying to tell her that the Nexus 4 is GSM unlocked, so it should work for anything GSM, but they disagreed and said it had to be either AT&T or T-Mobile. Then she got really mad and put me on hold while she talked to her boss.
She came back and wanted to charge me for a full month, I explained that I was only switching because they recommended it. She's now talking to her manager again to see if it's possible to switch my number without me paying again and forfeiting the rest of my month.
This service is awful. I wish they would have just stopped nagging me and let me keep AT&T.
EDIT
She also said that my birthday was incorrect and that I had the correct month and year, but the incorrect date. I said that I must have made a typo and that I could provide other information if that would work, she told me she'd hold while I logged in online and corrected my info. So she sat there in silence while I updated that info, then said that it wasn't coming through so I'd have to call back tomorrow. I asked her if she'd refreshed her page and she said no, then refreshed it and said it had updated and that she could continue helping me now, but I still had to confirm my birthday again. *sigh*. I've now been on the line with them for an hour.
T-Mobile service sucks in Kalamazoo (I'm a former customer so its from experience), very spotty coverage, and it pretty much sucks everywhere in Michigan as I travel a lot. So your a lot better off with AT&T. I just left StraightTalk AT&T as I hate their customer service, sitting an hour on hold is common, and at $50 it made more sense to just go with one of AT&T's own GoPhone plans for the same price (250 talk minutes, unlimited texts, 1 GB data). AT&T's customer service is far superior to StraightTalks.

Why did they want you to switch from ATT? Were you using heavy data? If they are proactively pushing people to TMo I'll take my business direct. MVNO not worth it.

Do ever head south? I am down in Sturgis and was curious about tmobile. Att has been pretty good, three rivers is only edge data speed.

I work in Three Rivers and barely got a signal outside with T-Mo and nothing indoors. In fact the entire drive down 131 from Kalamazoo I would get no signal. AT&T is Edge2 down here but at least I get a good signal and can use the phone most of the time. In Sturgis I doubt you would get any signal as you're too far away from I-80. I had T-Mo for 2 years, 2003-2005 and drove to Virginia every other month. Only had a signal on major interstates and once I got off had no service. I figured after 10 years their service should have gotten better but after 2 weeks on the $30 plan I gave up.

I never did head very far south. I had the $30 t mobile plan for about 20 days before getting my ST SIM, the most traveling I did was up to Lansing. The signal in Lansing was a bit spotty, but good voice coverage.
I think that they were pushing it because I had asked a question about it earlier. I asked if getting a t mobile SIM would allow me to roam on at&t service if I went to a 0 service area. They told me that it wouldn't, but that I could easily switch between them if I wanted.
I have been happy with St att here in Sturgis and northern Indiana by Middlebury and Elkhart areas. Three rivers does have slow speeds. I guess I won't bother with getting another similar card then.

ONE on Straight Talk

I am currently using the One on ST. I know this question has been asked a bunch of times, but has anyone else recently received a call from ST about their data use? I got one yesterday saying they now are enforcing the 1.5gb cap. The ridiculous part is, I have only used 400mb TOTAL. Lmao, I have been on wifi pretty much everywhere I have been. It's just annoying having to worry about "what is the magical daily limit"? Anyone else received a call recently?
I can't wait for Att's new prepaid "All In One" brand to launch next month, which is hopefully, here is how much data you get, use it how you want.
I am on ST with an att one, and haven't gotten any calls from ST.

I am curious, since I have been throttled many times, and sometimes only for using a couple hundred megs a month, and threatened to have my internet cut off, how would you direct the reps to their own blog? http://www.straighttalkblog.com/2013/04/straight-talk-data-clarification.html
Which states they do not have a hard cap of 1.5? Can they say they don't if they just throttle you but you still have an internet connection?
Quote from their blog:
"You may have heard rumors online that there is a hard cap of 1.5GB for data on Straight Talk. We want to clear this up for you right away: We are NOT cutting off data at 1.5GB on Straight Talk. The data limit in reference only applies to Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP™) AT&T-compatible SIMs on our sister brand, NET10. In fact, most of our customers enjoy their unlimited data plans with no issues or complaints regarding their data speeds or service."
