On such a beautiful screen of the Note, it's a little disappointing that the videos within browser or any videos except on YouTube, are pixelated. Is it because of Flash, or this is normal? The videos on YouTube are a joy to watch in HD.

I use skyfire videos play fine however you need to pay for the license unless you used skyfire from the start then you get it free

Thanks, but I am wondering whether the issue is the screen itself or playing videos within browsers, be it opera, boat browser, or dolphin hd.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
Ar i get ya well if i remember right you get a 3day trial of skyfire so why not check it out.if vids play fine with that then its not your screen,
same case !!
I too had the same problem; but updating the flash player solved the issues.

hey mates,
i'm looking for the "best" browser for my dhd.
there are so much out there, that i cannot decide
firefox mobile, opera mobile/mini, skyfire, dolphin hd,...?
which one do you recommend? flash support would be nice.
DN41
Firefox is good
dolphin is excellent
I've tried all of them. My best experience is with SkyFire for watching flash. Firefox always crashes, dolphin lagged out so much once that I had to remove the battery, Opera as you know has no flash but is extremely fast for non-flash. But in the end they all have their pros and cons which is why I have all of them
I've heard good stuff about miren browser, havent tried it though :/
thanks...
as i guessed, the opinion here around is also splitted
yeah...i think a combo of skyfire and opera does it best...
lets see
DN41
Haha... Still using the default one.
yeah but i doesnt like the w'n'w logo because mine is tmobile branded
nope its not bad, but i thought there are better ones out there
DN41
Dolphin is by far the best browser ! Hands down. I've tried them ALL: Opera (bugs), Firefox (I'm a BIG Firefox fan for the pc but on the DHD it's just unresponsive & slow), Skyfire is also just ok nothing special.... Ur best bet is Dolphin HD... Gluck....
I'm a big fan of Dolphin HD as well. Its got some really handy addons which are nice to have sitting in your toolbar. I personally never suffered from any lag with this browser on this phone or my previous Nexus One.
xScope 6 is not bad and supports flash.
Am i the only one that thinks the stock browser is good? I've tried Miren and Dolphin HD, but i don't like them. Feels kinda slow. Also on WiFi (20 mbps down 10 mbps up)
downloading flash
anyone found an ad-on for any of the browsers which enables you to save/download flash videos? Have been looking but come up with nothing

I actually quite like the stick and watch some pretty intensive flash videos on it without a problem. The one problem they all have is that if you're watching a flash video and decide to try and go back,. You have to press the back button at least 3 or 4 times :/

I'm using the stock browser and its fast. Flash is not a problem. I've used Dolphin HD as well and I must say its basically the same as stock cos its base on the stock browser.

Yes but i have noticed on Dolphin. there is no option to switch from mobile version sites to fulll sites. whereas with the stock broswer i just untick enable mobile view. this alows me to go to sites e.g dailymotion and watch videos as if it was the full site and just maximise the videos. LOVE STOCK browser. lol
iv tried em all and stock browser wins hands down

Dolphin does the switch with an addon which isn't installed by default.

Does it have the option to remember which sites you want to view in mobile mode and which you want in desktop mode? That's the only thing that's missing in the stock browser . I want to view the news sites in mobile mode, but southparkstudios' mobile version doesn't have the full episodes .
Oh right. Which add-on

Anyone find or suggest a video player that supports AVI (Divx) files for the Nook Color?
Act 1 video player i think
Sent from my LogicPD Zoom2 using XDA App
No, Act 1 player does not playdivx. Rock player plays videos rather superbly. I watched a 720p video with only occasional lags.
there is another media player called Arcmedia that can handle xvid/avi videos. I used it to watch a few episodes of an SDrip of Avatar the last airbender, no noticeable lag.
I haven't tried on my nook, but on my evo hands down the best (smoothest playback) divx player I've seen is yxplayer. If you want to "try" it before you buy it search around filestube.

Alternatively, there's a 2 hour refund window on the app market...so how about we not condone piracy for any reason at all, shall we?
Isn't it only 15 minutes?

My bad, you're correct. But that should still be plenty of time to see if it works.

Actually.... I personally couldn't verify within 15 minutes for most launchers, and other various programs. I get why google implemented this policy but for some apps I need at least an hour. As for the yxplayer 15 min may be enough but be sure before you buy you have however many files you want to test, on the sdcard, READY to go, 15 min goes a lot quicker than you think.
I can confirm Arcmedia works with normal xvid avis with no lag whatsoever. However, it seems to be a microsecond out of sync. Guess that's to be expected.

Well, this is actually my first Android Phone, I've only used a Android Tablet before and my tablet had a YouTube App with an HD, not a HQ, function.
So my Question: Is there a YouTube HD App for android 2.3.5/6?
HQ kinda sucks on the note screen.
why use an app when you have a browser? just go on youtube.com, choose your video and choose the resolution for it there.

For some reason the newer version of the YouTube app does not offer the HQ option...so you will have to go back to the 2.1.6 version...
Find a jetvd apk, it's no longer in the android market, you can choose hd there and stream through your video player in hd (you can also use it to download youtube vids in hd) . HQ on the official app is only 480p no HD option so far. I also would be interested in hearing about any other apps that can stream HD youtube vids.

This is awesome, not a complete replacement for the youtube app but better than nothing and still a bit more comfortable than the browser
Jetvd gets to available options screen, I touch the thumbnail and nothing happens. I set a download folder and Im on wifi. So far jetvd sucks. J/k just cant get it to work.
Try Tubemate from the App Store. Dunno if its full HD but choosing the highest setting looks pretty cool on the Note, way better than the YouTube app. Being able to download vids is a nice bonus.

tubemate is good, it lets you download or stream in any resolution available for the video. I prefer to download the videos in 720p or 1080P and play back that way if I want to watch it again I keep it saving future bandwidth and it looks much better then HQ in the yt app which is probably only 480P.
You can view yt in browser in desktop mode and select resolution but going full screen generally is a pain and doesn't look as good as a 720P or higher download in tubemate. Best to get tubemate from the official site tubemate.net as there are dodgy versions around even been some bad infected ones on market apparently according to the aps developer.
I thought would start this post since I didn't see one where people could some of there favorite video apps that don't come stock on the N7. Her is my list:
1. Netflix - pretty good app and greatest availability of streaming movies you will find from a monthly service.
2. Xfinity Player: Nice updates to the UI for 7 inch tablets and really good for catching up on old episodes of Spartacus.
3. Crunchyroll: The premiere app for watching animes that are subbed and best of all they have a free option that works over Wi-Fi. Doesn't work over Bluetooth tethering, but ICS built in Wi-Fi tethering is just fine if you don't mind the ads.
4. HomeDia: A nice free app that allows you to stream videos on your home network. I paired mine up with plex media server since you have to pay for tversity and it has worked well. If it doesn't play a video just use a third video player app like rockplayer.
5. Dailymotion: To be honest the only reason I use this app is to catch up with subbed anime episodes of OnePiece, outside of that nothing really else for me.
The good thing about these apps are they are free to download and numbers 1, 2, and 5 have apps for the Xbox 360. Well those are mine, so what are yours?

Crackle has some good free movies and tv shows. I also like to browse vimeo using the app, there are lots of cool videos on there.
If you like to watch current TV DROID TV Primetime actually works very well on the N7. There are quite a few free shows but for @$9 for three months you can get shows like Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Greys Anatomy, and dozens of others. I have used it for over a year on my DROID X and it sizes up really well to the 7inch for factor.

Are you doing this on a N7?
I had problems with it on my N7 in that I couldn't get it to lower/hide the info when the video was playing. Unless I am missing something .... On my phone it worked just fine.
UPDATE
Now if this isn't stupid on my part..... if you touch the video when it is playing, a icon shows on the bottom left to make it Full Screen... thought I had tried everything...

Thanks I didnt know that Crackle would work with the N7 unless I installed flash. So far it looks pretty good, I just dont like how the UI doesn't work that well in portrait mode. Hey that's what updates are for.

Chrome doesn't use flash plugins so any videos viewed would be HTML5.
Boat Browser is another that still supports Flash Player.

Right, but according to YouTube, everything has, or almost has been converted to HTML5, yet Dolphin doesn't play any video.... I can't imagine I've only tried the ones that are still only in flash format....
