Hello guys im using cm7 can we do any thing to kill foreground by long press for back button
I don't mean the current app which I use noooo all the foreground apps how
???
I don't think there's something like this built into gingerbread, but you can try getting a task killer from the market and see if it can quick-kill everything by long pressing the search button (I believe I once had one that did it).
there was such option in CM7 but I don't use CM7 on Black...
I use Cm7.2 Rc3.
The option is under Settings>Applications>Development> Stop app via long-press

Sorry for this noob question. The only way to exit from the stock browser is by pressing the back button as many times as possible?
seems that way dude. what i do is just press home until the task switcher appears and then task manager and then kill it from there.
If you want you can go to the market and install TaskSwitcher. Press home, and it brings up a list of currently open applications, from anywhere. Long press to kill the selected app.
Though I don't use that feature very much, I'd rather Android do it.
Regards
Press the home button then open the task manager and stop the application
thanks to all
Hey guys,
i need two mods for my new CM7.2 rom.
1) sms letter-counter. for example 120/149 u know? i don´t want to have another sms-app, b´cause the ori is the best for me
2) for ram-killing, in miui roms, i need only to press the home-button for a long time, than i can kill with a button the apps.
can s.o. create mods like this?
1) I'm not entirely sure but I think CM SMS app already shows you the counter if you are closing to the limit.
2) In CM Settings you can set long press back button to kill the active app.
Holla!
1. The CM app shows after 30 characters the the amount of characters, you can activate this in the setting.
2. You can bind the long press on the home screen to a specific program. I bind it to an autokiller, kinda like the same as in CM9 only less smooth!
Goodluck!!
greetzz..
Wyckson
okey, the problem with the ramkiller is done thanks a lot ..
but where can i choose the setting, that i can see the sms limit?
cannot find it
EDIT: Done! thanks!
To close my recent apps I have a widget of"android assistant" which closes all the apps at one touch.
And to view the open apps through the default task manager in CM9 I have to press and hold the home button for a few seconds. I was wondering is there any way to access this task manager through a one tap on the scren .considering the times I have to press the home button.. it might get spoilt or loose over time.
Have you guys got any tips to do this?? I also tried "simple text " app but there is no action as to access the task manager.
I did take a look at "tasker" and it had a way to kill all apps or selective apps. I think that could be helpful in a way ..

Don't know of anyway to do that, it's very possible though to make such a shortcut in my opinion.
However the button is of high quality and you don't have to worry about it.
Or you could always flash the on screen keys mod and use that instead.
Cheers.

I think that the on screen keys are a bit waste of space. I have used some iphones in my past, and the main button often got loose (shakey)

Install Nova Launcher from market and Configure the home button in Settings.
Now Just press home button one time and its done
Or apex launcher, you can reconfigure the home button for a 1 press & the task mngr should show in now time, or put an action icon on home screen.

I would prefer using the action shortcut. Will i be able to do that with Apex launcher.
Thanks for the launcher ideas, if i can't get a shortcut made, ill reconfigure the home button to open the task manager on one tap, but then won't it conflict with the actual 1tap idea of the home button? :S to get to the homescreen?

Hi, I want to ask you all about the multitasking from jelly bean. Will it stop if you tap your home button to open new browser and other stuff making it as background application?
If for ICS, it will pause the youtube after you switched to other application and this is not called multitasking according to my knowledge.
Any feedback on this issue?

if u use multitasking n u still press home button that's mean u're out frOm multiwindow n definitely the application will be paused at he background.
u just need to drag out frOm multiwindow when doing multitasking without pausing youtube when doIng multitasking.
maybe u can find out more on floating multiwindow!
i believe someone wll give u the right answer!
multiwindow of JB allows both apps to run.. it divides the screen into 2 windows
Real multitasking?

I wonder why Samsung calls it mutiiview? It only makes two windows. How about calling it dual-window or dual-view. In general, I do not think that using multiview or long pressing the home button to cycle around recently used apps is real multitasking. While long pressing the home key does allows you to return to another active process, there is always the possibility that the OS task manger will kill something you put in background. This is most annoying, especially if your were editing a file and you now lose changes because the android task manger does its thing. (So as a rule of thumb I always save changes before putting an editor, like Polaris, in background.) The sad thing is that I think that android can do real multitasking (by using a "service" for example) but it appears to be up to the developer to incorporate this feature in their app. For example, it you press the home button when using terminal emulator to put it in back ground, you can always pick up where you left off. I've never seen this process killed. Ideally, I would like to be the one choosing which app to kill. Hopefully this is the case in the future.
In regards to the you tube question, when doing a long press, music continues to play, but it is paused once you make a selection from the tray of recently used apps.
For those of you that have modified your N7000 to have tablet ui via xperiacles work, do you find that when reducing a window (such that it goes to a task bar that you can bring it back up from), that the app is still actively running in background. For example, does a music video still play on if you do this?
I think it will defend the purpose of it if i switched application and it stopped the previous one. So I have to wait for stock jb to fully utilize my note.
Hmm with 2 cores it should had something better than this right?

Well you probably know the mod for long press back key to kill the app..
I don't like killing apps.. it causes troubles.. and I also have another ideas for that..
I was thinking.. when you are on facebook or file browser and you wanna close it.. a single back would just return 1 step backward..
and if you have been awhile on this app you might need like 10 clicks on the back key..
So instead of killing the app. maybe just make it press the back key like 100 times in a second so it will go super back quickly to your home screen..
Also for recent apps, instead of swiping 1 by 1 (even though you can add a clear-all button but still), let it clear them all by it self when you long press the recent apps button..
I know how to make these stuffs on tasker as a task but I can't reach the trigger for long pressing key.. and it sure wont work good as programming it for real..
Perhaps any dev here that would like to take this on? or maybe an already mod for customizing the long press buttons available?
Thanks !
