Help with ROM - HTC Incredible S

Well I am fairly new to here so I might not be the best in asking and explaining.
I would like to install this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1685433
But cannot seem to find a step by step instruction how to. I am very new to installing a ROM and need a lot of help that is much appreciated. Thanks

is your bootloader unlocked and/or are you s-off? do you have already flashed a recovery?

First of all I have no idea what or how bootloader is and what s-off and what is flashing a recovery?
I understand I am a total noob haha.

Read the stickies, they will bring you a lot further
First you will need to security-off your cellphone.
Afterwards you'll have to root the phone.
And then the custom rom fun begins!

So lemme understand, first I have to do this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373697
Even for the ROM I want to run?

First you will have to find out what your Hboot version is.
You can do this by first shutting down the phone, and then holding on the volume down button while pushing the power button (no need to hold the power button).
Then you will have to search for a topic that shows you an S-OFF method for your Hboot version.

I wonder if you can help me find one for my specific version:
this is what I got
*** LOCKED ***
VIV PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.01.0001
RADIO-2822.01.08.14_M
eMMC-boot

not necessarily. you can unlock via htcdev.com/bootloader. this allows you to flash a recovery. it voids your varanty tho. if you want to go the "hard way" you follow the downgrade tutorial. your waranty will not void and you can unlock the full potential of your phone.
anyway: you need to perform one of those steps to flash a recovery what you need to flash a rom.

Ok so I have completed the one from htc, now how to I proceed to doing this one?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1685433

Not to be anoyying or anything but can someone please help me out, I have a clean phone I would like to get this ASAP so I can continue using my phone.

have you already flashed a recovery? if not, follow this steps, to step 8: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337105
after that you are ready to flash a rom. download the rom you want to flash and follow the instruction 8 to 14. in that example the author used cyanogenmod as rom but you can flash every rom the same way.
i just dont know if lpremix is functional at the moment. yesterday it gave me a bootloop.

For that specific one I want to install I need to install blackrose first, how do I proceed to doing that?

Since you are on hboot 2.0 already I don't think you need blackrose. If you want to install blackrose you have to gain s-off via revolutionary. If I were you I would try without blackrose and if it does not work I'd try to use niks ics Rom to see if the fault is because of blackrose. If it is you have to downgrade your hboot and gain s-off. There is a tutorial in the development forum.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA

Well I have done it all and booted but now it had been around 20 mins with just the htc logo and it seems to be getting warm. Should I wait some more? It seems its a very big file so I think it should take a while to boot for the first time.

Have you fastboot flashed your boot.img? It wont boot without it.
Look up a guide in this forum because I don't know off the top of my head

20 minutes with the htc logo does not sound like booting at all
please try to flash niks we want ics rom, even if it is not sense4. it should boot after a maximum of 5 minutes. if that works you have to wait for a sense4 release that actually is confirmed to work.
edit: yeah and if you are still on your unlocked and s-on, dont forget to flash boot.img manually as markj338 stated above.

I have done that now when I boot it just starts the HTC logo and after a while it goes to Recolutionary

Now I really do need help ASAP as I cant even recieve calls and texts since im not in any ROM.

since you are bootlooping now to recovery we can clearly state that the rom you are using does not work. download a rom that is known to work 100% (android 2.3 (like ARHD or nik trinity) roms or niks android 4 rom). flash that rom.
the sense4 roms do not work 100% at this moment.

I have also tried this one now:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1687777
Yet still the same error, can you please link me to one that you mentioned?
Edit: I have also tried restoring, still keep getting this problem :l
Edit yet again: Apparently I need Blackrose for both of them. How can I install it since its ment to be installed when your booted into a ROM?

[S-OFF] AlphaRev X Open Beta

http://alpharev.nl/x/beta/
Thought you might like to know it's now open, have fun
You're on XDA , welcome back. Great to see the public open beta is out too!
But...! It seems to be only for Hboot 1.x.x users!! If i have bootloader v 0.80.0007, i can't get s-off???
I have some trouble obviously after getting S-off, how do you root then on froyo ?
Unrevoked tells me firmware could be too new... I'll go through their FAQ perhaps some answers are there xD
S-off Process is flawless
You guys Rock !! Thanks !
great great news!
2morrow morning i will s-off my gf's wildfire!
can anyone post the step one by one? cz i dont really get. After i opened the alpharevx -> put the code-> Acquiring root (method 1) ...... unknown command
Then nothing
IT WORKEDDDDDD!!!! thanks to alphareev team
Why it not compatible with HBOOT 0.80xx ?
Dilemmaaaaaaaaaaaa...
The S/N start with HT0 or HTO???

Anyway its worth updating your hboot with an official froyo (now)
i like the orange text and my new ability to flash a screen
thanks to alpha
Hi, how long will this public beta be?
Could use at step by step instruction?
I boot into HBOOT and run alpharevx.exe, a command prompt opens telling it's "Waiting for device"??
About a week ago I tried running Unrevoked, which ended up with the known error about hardware being to new - so I'm sure I have the correct HBOOT usb-driver.
I'm on 64-bit Windows at the moment - could it be that??
Please, anyone advice??
EDIT:
This was a question from a newbie early in the morning :d - Solved!
The utility should be run with Android loaded, not i HBOOT mode, and it helps enabling USB-debugging
After getting S-OFF I followed these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130044
Finally I flashed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957140
I feel pretty fine right now
Alpharev team promised at begining S-OFF for hboot 0.80.. Why they have not released it?
Some Questions to those who know.
I'm currently on HBOOT 0.80.XX having Rooted Hybrid Rom V6.
1. Do I need to update to HBOOT 1.00X to be able to use Alpharev X - if not - which option should I choose in dropdown menu on Alpharev X Beta page..? As it only shows two options - both being 1.00X
2. Do I need to Re-Root after alpharev X - or will my previous root stay (if I can use it without updating to HBOOT 1.00X)
3. Again - Do I need to Re-Flash Rom after alpharev X - or will my previous rom stay (if I can use it without updating to HBOOT 1.00X) *prays*
4. Can I use a (Fastboot) Clockworkmod that still uses Amend - rather than edify? Or is there one that can support both? As I quite dislike edify.
5. Will my old Clockworkmod be overwritten? (2.5.0.7)
I posted these questions in a few places as I haven't the faintest clue - which one is the right place to post them in...apologies for that.

So you're telling me to update my phone with the last ruu, this will update my hboot as well, then i use the alpharev tool and then i root again?
0.80 still does not have S-OFF so this is a problem!
Hello,
Here is a short Guide to get S-OFF if you are at HBOOT 0.80:
1. Make a full Backup of your current ROM.
2. Download RUU Buzz Froyo HTC WWE 2.22.405.1 Radio 13.55.55.24H 3.35.20.10 release 160191 signed.exe
3. Connect your Plhone to your PC and Install it, after 10 minutes you are on HBOOT 1.01.0001
4. Download Alpharev follow the instructions and install.
Now you are S-OFF!´
You ony have to Restore your ROM and enjoy!
Sorry for my bad English.
1. not sure, but i did and it worked, i used
RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2_22_405_1_Radio_13_55_55_2 4H_3_35_20_10_release_160191_signed.exe

2.yes, follow this to get clockworkmod installed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14693680
ur phone needs to be in hboot 4 this to work
3. as far as i can tell not by defoult, but u installed ruu so yes
4. not sure, but i think there shouldnt be a broblem
5. if u run ruu, yes, hence fastboot method
i did a nand backup, installed ruu, ran alpharev, fastbot flash recovery, restoring nand backup as i type, and thats it.
another thing i was careful about is after nand backup, i switched to original sd card, so the ruu wouldnt put sense and other stuff on my primary sd. i switched back after flashing recovery. gl
Thank you!
I keep trying to enter my beta key and it says the key is invalid :S:S
Hmm I just flashed my phone with the new Hboot, ran alpharev and installed clockwork.
It worked perfectly, so maby you are somehow entering the wrong code...
Anyways It worked like a charm for me

[Q] Rooting Incredible S with Unrevoked 3

Hi all,
I am newbie in this foruma nd new in Android. I am going to get the Incredible S later this week. I would like to try to root the Incredible S. I read some of the treads, but I am a bit confuse here, hope someone can help me out. Here are my questions.
1) Can I root my phone with Unrevoked3 ? If so can I use the S-On tools to put it back to s-on for warranty ?
2) Before I do the root, I would like to backup my Rom. All I need to do is go to Hboot and choose backup. It will save my rom image right? If any bad thing happen, I can S-On than put it back my rom and everything will back to the factory setting ?
3)How would I know if my phone been rooted? I saw a thread said if there is an Icon (superuser) in the menu it means I am rooted?
I know these are stupid questions, hope someone can help me out in here.
Thanks in advance

1. No, Unrevoked3 does not work on the Incredible S. You need to use AlphaRev/Unrevoked Revolutionary (http://revolutionary.io/)
2. You need to have a custom recovery in place such as ClockworkMod to backup image of your ROM. Revolutionary has an option to install ClockworkMod during it's procedure. In order to restore the phone to factory settings, you need to make sure you have a RUU (Rom Update Utility) that matches your phone's version.
3. After you install ClockworkMod, you will need to manually root and add superuser to your phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122694
Thank you very much for the reply. I will definately giong to give it a try. Another question here, after I applied Revolutionary and the phone will become S-off. And I want to put back the factory image back, will the phone switch back to S-ON ?? From other threads, I think it will void the warranty if the phone is S-ON
Thank you very much
You can put your phone back to S-ON yes. Make sure you haven't updated your phone to 2.30.405.1 or you can't root or S-OFF your device.
Great thanks. So here is my steps for turn the IncS to S-Off and backup right ?
First I will have to use Revolutionary to turn the S-OFF
than I will use ClockworkMOd to backup my factory ROM (just in case i need to turn it back to S-ON and factory setting for warranty)
Once I am S-OFF i will be able to use one of the image for Root
Thank you very much for all the helps guys. I will give it a try and see how it goes.

You have to flash RUU according to your IS version. It does full restore your device to factory state. So yes it includes S-on and Htc official Rom so it would be just like when it came out of the box.
Edit: What's your software number? You may check at Settings / About phone. You need that to flash properly RUU to your device.

Hi thiagofbrito, thanks for the reply. Sorry I don't have my INcS yet, still waiting for it, but I will check the software #.
By the way , if I used clockworkmod. I can backup my ROM right? So if anything happen can I use that backup and rest it as Factory Setting with S-ON ?
Don't really undersatnd what is the RUU use for?
Thanks

Not exactly. ClockworkMod backup and restore only saves and restores the whole ROM image, but not the SecurityFlag setting (S-OFF/S-ON), so restoring a CWM backup will not return you to S-ON state.
This is where the RUU comes into play. As long as you have the RUU for your particular phone and carrier, that is what you would use to return the phone to a full Factory Setting complete with S-ON. In the Development section there is a thread that has alot of the shipped RUUs for the IncS.
Sorry to tag onto this thread but 1 more question.....if the IS is already set up and now would like to get it rooted, following the procedure won't reset the device and clearing out the data right? I know using Unrevoked won't clear the data but not sure about this one. Kindly confirm

No, the S-OFF and rooting process will not wipe out your existing apps or data.
Hi, I just received my IS, the phone already S-OFF , android version 2.3.3 , but it has some app I don't want. I know that I need to rooted before I remove those, can I root this phone ? Or I need to follow the unrevoked 3 proceduce and flash the custom rom ?

I already did have the HTC driver installed. But when I boot the device in HBOOT, my PC wouldn't detect it right? or it suppose to detect it ? thanks

is there something I missed ?

No you haven't missed anything. The procedure instructions were for gaining S-Off using Revolutionary which installs a modified hboot that contains additional fast boot commands. So you must have a XTC clipped S-Off, so you simply need to install ClockworkMod by copying a PG32IMG.zip file to your SD card and letting the boot loader install it.
Shouldn't this be more like..
1. Download CMW's zip file (Available in this thread here)
2. Make sure the file is named "PG32IMG.zip" without quotes.
3. Put file in your SD card
4. Switch off phone
5. Pull out the battery and wait 5 seconds. Put the battery back in again. (This step is needed in case fast boot is enabled..)
6. Press vol down+power. HBoot (white screen with 3 android logos at the bottom) should load.
7. Wait a while.. it should pick up on your PG32IMG.zip automatically and install your custom recovery
8. Reboot into your OS and remove the zip
9. Go back into HBoot and then recovery. Use as you please (I suggest you take a backup first then proceed to flashing or doing anything else you might fancy )
Thanks for the reply. My HTC is not XTC cliped. I bought this at a retail store. When I checked the HBOOT is already S-OFF. So as you said, all I need to do is download the ClockMod and rename is as the zip file
Thanks
Hi tpbklake ,
Ok I tried to the instruction you provide earlier. I got the zip file, renamed and placed it on the SD card. HBOOT than I can see the HTC is saying Parsing the zip file, than i turn off the device and remove the Zip file from the SD card. And go back to HBOOT again choose recovery , and it show the red exclaimation mark . .. I don't know what happen in here, can someoen please help ?
Thanks

[Q] HBOOT 1.16.0000, known ROMs to work?

So far I've had no luck using custom ROMs as it just stays on the htc boot screen and does not work. I can confirm that 'MiUi' does work on my phone - however it is buggy and I don't like it.
I want cyanogenod or either android revolution HD but none of these work.
I thinkit has something to do with the HBOOT being 1.16.000, and the ROM version i'm after is 2.34.981.1 (virgin or optus branded) - am with virgin though in Australia.
I have a custom bootloader/recovery whatever you call it, I wipe the cache, dalvik cache and factory wipe, before installing all ROM's. I can't update to stock ROM either because there is none for hboot 1.16.000
So right now my phone is pretty much a paper weight until I can get it working again.
I prefer custom ROM's if there is any that work, if not I atleast want the stock ROM to work for now so I can use my phone. If someone can help me through the process to get it working it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you go to the development section of the HTC Incredible 2 forum, attn1 has a script tool that uses the latest Revolutionary/Unreovked exploit to downgrade the ROMand HBOOT to a version that is supported by Revolutionary.
If you look at the script, it is pretty simple. You would just need to use an older Virgin Mobile RUU.zip instead of the Inc2 version. It looks like the 2.12.981.2 would be the one to try.
Hang on a second, how did you S-off the Hboot 1.16?
I thought you need S-off to be able to flash a custom Rom...
How did you install Miui?
Am I missing something here?
Doesnt matter if you need S-ON or S-OFF, as long as you get permissions to access root files.
Someone installed a custom bootloader so I can install custom ROM's, and it just works.... apparently the radios are locked though.
So, another day gone by and my phone is still not working. I can use MiUi, but I ran out of data on my 3g sim and wifi doesnt work, so now I have no internet on it.

no, you're all just noobs.
It was the boot.img, we swapped it with the MiUi then put back the original one, now it boots up on cyanogenmod7.1 and works completely fine.
Can access root files, can take screenshots, everything is normal.

You're calling us noobs, but you don't even know what was done on your phone...
What's the following sentence supposed to say?
"It was the boot.img, we swapped it with the MiUi then put back the original one"
To get a custom Rom, you actually have to INSTALL it...To get the custom Rom installed, you need CWM recovery. But if you have HBoot 1.16.000, you can't have a custom recovery yet.
In less your "friend" did a downgrade of the HBoot to 1.13.000, it's unlikely that you have CWM recovery on your phone. Even so, to my knowledge HBoot 1.16.000 does a version check and won't let you downgrade it.
So, the question remains, how did you get CWM recovery on your phone?

This thread is awesome
no, if I hold down power down and power button I see S-ON and HBOOT 1.16.0000
He typed in commands to give it root permissions, not sure exactly as he remote controlled my computer and typed it in. Then yes, he flashes CWM onto the phone then I installed revolutionary.
Firstly, I went onto the HTC dev site (created an account) and followed the steps to unlock the bootloader. In the end, it was successful, and once it's finished it will wipe the phone (AND WILL STILL SAY s-on)
So then the bootloader is now unlocked, and he did various commands in fastboot. My guess is that he installed CWM from there and it just worked.
at first, cyanogenmod would not boot, so he copied the (boot.img that is working) from MiUi and repled it with cyanogenmod's. The phone booted up and worked. Then he put it back how it was and it now works. Strange, but something must've given it a kick.
I'll repeat myself.
HBOOT 1.16.0000
S-ON
Cyanogenmod &.1 (stable)
Full root access
Need I say more to prove it?
As far as I know, I just cannot flash radios, which actually require the S-OFF....
sorry if I come across as rude, just a long day..
Talk to aftab565 he has the same hboot as you and has arhd running. Sounds like your phone was temp rooted and flashed and I would advise against letting people you don't know take remote access of your pc.
Hopefully it works for him I couldn't help.
Just replied to his thread.
And I know I was aware. I had full control though (could press a certain key to disconnect the connection - and only gave a temporary password) He was only typing in CMD things to do with the phone that I've heard of before
(ADB shell, fastboot recovery etc) and in the end worked well. He said my job is done and disconnect himself, so good guy
Didn't take my eyes off the screen either.

You gotta give props to these guys for donating their time. Every day there's more talk about h-boot 1.16.0000 so I figure if devs want to keep devin there'll be a rev released eventually.
I really appreciate the amount of work hes done, in total I recon he's spent about 6 hours trying to help me getting it to work.
Never left me by myself, he always helped me through every step and was always there if I needed help. I've now got CM7 thanks to him. If he didn't fix it, I would have a useless phone because I couldn't even put on the stock ROM because of my HBOOT im guessing (I did an OTA update to get 1.16.0000 therefore too new to download)
I think SOME of the custom roms do have support for 1.16.0000 and what you only need is the boot file from them to boot up your non-booting ROM then you're all good.
ok, just to put some closure and sanity on this thread.
Firstly I'm probably bettery know as hyuh on #revolutionary, and it was me who was connected to his PC.
I use teamviewer to connect to people remotely, this allows anyone who doesn't like the look of *anything* I do to diconnect me...The user in front of the PC has full control of my session and I remind them to close teamviewer after we're done.
Secondly to those who think you need to be S-OFF to install a custom ROM or custom recovery, this is simply not true in the case of the 1.16 hboot. If you follow the HTC unlock procedure then you will have sufficient access to the phone to do this, it is not S-OFF just an unlock. Your phone will be in state "S-ON unlocked" This allows certain partitions on the emmc to be written to, and this sufficient for custom ROMs.
Really all that is requird is:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery <recovery.img>
then follow the normal flashing procedures.
In jakeyo's case CM7 would not boot, but MIUI would. When I say it would not boot I do not mean a boot loop here, I mean no boot period. At this point I had expected to need to rebuild a boot image for CM7 for him suspecting that HTC had done something different in the new hboot with paritions or the boot image offset.
The reason for flashing the MIUI boot image on top of CM7 was simple, to get to adb in the boot image. However seeing nothing particularly strange in the boot sequence ( other than the mismatch and resulting bootloop) I decided to reflash the CM7 boot image through fastboot.
The phone booted fully this time without issues.
It appears that the boot image simply did not flash properly from recovery the first time but I don't have a vivo to troubleshoot further.
A couple of things:
1. Don't take the OTA for 1.16 hboot if you haven't already done so.
There is currently no unofficial unlock/S-OFF
There is no RUU to fix the phone if you screw up.
There is nothing in the OTA you can't get in other ways.
2. If you're on 1.16 and want custom ROMs and aren't worried about warranty, go ahead and do unlock from HTC, but bear in mind:
There is no RUU, so you can't go back to stock
You can't flash radios
You can't superCID or similar ( but not needed since there is no RUU )
2a. You don't need any existing root method to exist, there is no exploit involved in any of this, this will work irrespective of the current status of a root expoit existing or not.
2b. The phone does not have to be listed by HTC as being supproted. Any phone with a suitable hboot can be unlocked.
if this:
Code:
fastboot oem get_identifier_token
returns an identifier code then the phone can be ulocked.

[Q] Update to ICS from rooted phone

I have my HTC Vivid rooted and on HoliRaider v1.6. I really wanted to use the rom Rum Float Beta, which is ics. I tried to find the steps for updating to this but i get kinda confused... If anyone could help me that would be great!
Taken from a similar thread...........
the RUU or the methods that thecubed and i have laid out will get you the necessary HBOOT/RADIO/etc that you will need to flash a custom ICS rom
either method will get you the same thing....an updated HBOOT and ICS
if you run the bootloader unlock tool from htcdev, YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR SETTINGS! it will wipe the device like its brand new......do NOT include this in your dreams of getting backups prior to flashing a custom rom....
please just read through the posts and understand what is going on.
in order for ICS to happen on your vivid you need the new HBOOT, Radio, and various other components that the RUU/PH39IMG contain
there are 3 different roads you can follow to get there, the EASIEST being just run the RUU (WHICH WILL ALSO WIPE SETTINGS!), afterwards, reboot to bootloader, unlock bootloader, reboot to fastboot, fastboot flash the boot.img and the recovery.img of your choice on (limited on boot.img's at the moment, better use the one from the rom), reboot to recovery and flash the rom
the other methods imply you understand somewhat how the process works.
relock bootloader (if unlocked), run PH39IMG install, unlock bootloader, fastboot flash recovery and boot.img, reboot to recovery and flash rom.....
if you wrap your head around HOW it works, its all really simple....so the first step is understanding HOW it works, not blindly following some tutorial or walkthrough.
please try to LEARN and UNDERSTAND what it is you are doing....
The thing that is getting me is how I have to Lock the bootloader again. Do I just lock it through the htc unlock tool? How do I " run PH39IMG install"? After, do i follow the same steps that i did before to root my phone?
To relock bootloader:
fastboot oem lock
To Unlock bootloader:
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
The PH39IMG file needs to be on the root of your SD card. Boot into hboot and it will automatically find the the PH39IMG file and update. I hope this helps. Like you said it's almost exact same steps you did to root assuming you didn't use the supertool or one click method.

Fastboot OEM lock. This is done from the fastboot screen. This is covered in the superguide and mentioned several times throughout these forums.

Before you start are you savvy with fastboot commands? I'm confident you can do this but just read read read. I'll answer your questions as best as I can. I"m not a dev or anything but I was able to do this following the steps created by PG and Thecubed.
i've tip toed around with it. Back when i had my evo 4g. I'm pretty familiar with the commands and stuff. i think i got a pretty good idea with the superguide also. after the getting the img file on and cwm i'm decent at the whole flash thing. If i can just get past that point i think im good.

Yes keep the superguide thread open as well. It's a great resource to have while you are doing this. The steps are nearly the same just have to update the HBOOT first. Good luck! I look forward to seeing you post having a successful install.
So I just got my replacement vivid..still locked and everything..how do I update with the ruu?

If we flash the RUU, do we need to relock the bootloader first or just run the RUU? Running stock rooted
EDIT: Nvm I found my answer. Still unable to find the RUU. Anyone have a mirror to the RUU?

Thank you very much. I'll look forward to ICS.

[Q] Installing Custom Rom Clairification

If I am correct I can install a Custom Rom with out turning S-Off if I install a extra image. Am I correct on this or do I need to turn S-Off to use custom rom. I been trying to try and read everything I can but getting a little lost on the custom rom. I have turned off the Bootloader from HTC Dev and Rooted. Also I have CWM installed can I install a Rom like I would with a Samsung. Ex. Log into the recovery and point it to the zip I want and install and reboot or is there a step I need to add as I do not have S-Off. Thanks for the help.
Have a look in the superguide, it has all you need to flash roms You can flash custom roms with your setup with cwm, depends on your HBOOT (when you fastboot flash things). There are steps in the superguide, you may have to update it

Think I got it.
You need S-Off if you going from a stock GB rom to a ICS rom. Now if Rogers ( My Provider ) updates to a ICS rom then I will not need to have S-Off to put a custom rom on my phone. My Next Question is - Is it possible to update my phone to a AT&T stock ICS rom. Then from there update to a custom firmware ICS rom. With out doing S-Off. I know for samsung you could put AT&T roms on a Rogers Phone and all you had to do was fix the APN. Is this the same as HTC.
Ah, sorry, misread the 'Rogers' part... I'm pretty sure (someone with more knowlege should verify this...) you can't, something to do with the region/carrier which I think is the HBOOT is not compatible with any other roms from other regions; I remember reading a post from bannanacakes and he said something along the lines of not being able to get ICS until either his carrier provided it, or until s-off came along... I'm 99% sure you do need s-off to get ICS... sorry, wish I knew more, I'm in a bit of a hurry, so no time to read more, will add to this after a bit of a read
EDIT:
ah, here you are, this is if you want ICS on Rogers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612685
[Guide] ICS for All htc holiday
And it does confirm that you do need s-off :/
Thanks that gives me some stuff to think about. I may wait for the Rogers ICS.
