Hi,
I just looked how much free space my internal storage has and notice, that instead of 16GB total it shows 11,07GB. Where is 5GB? Does notes system eat that much space or what?
This is maybe noob question, but i've read that ppl have lost some of their notes memory when wiped/restored in XXLPY. I did wipe cache and dalvik when i was in that Rom, but nothing bad happened then. I flashed to abyssnote 4.2 kernel and reverted back to GB after we heard, that XXLPY was dangerous. Now i've been in Asylum ICS about two weeks and no problems so far.

Noone lost memory when flashing, you need to read up on that.
However what you describe is normal because the system uses the "lost" memory so there's nothing to worry about.

Yeah, the system installation has to use some of the 16gb, and also the 2gb you have for application storage also has to use some of your internal storage.
No phone actually gets its full internal storage capacity, they all lose 4-5gb for these same reasons
Ftb
i think its something like:
2gb for system + 2gb for user data/apps + loss of GB/bytes conversion + whatever is left for mass storage

Thanks!
To be specific, someone lost a part of storage (7GB) when his note bricked and he got it recovered back. I read it here in xda, but don't remember what topic it was. This pop up first in my mind when i looket my storage and notice, that it wasn't 16GB. I haven't looked before my memory info. Good to know, everything is the way it should.
Thank you everybody for your help!

Hello.
Why my internal memory is low (56 mb) but all my aps is linked to SD on a ext4 partition with Link2Sd ?
Where is the problem?
I cleaned and relinked everything and memory still low
Till yasterday my memory was ~110 mb. Maybe Juice defender ultimate is the problem? Is my last installed app.

I encountered this problem once and switched using "INT2EXT4+" instead, you don't have to manually move stuff with that script and I havent noticed any problem with it.
Use titanium backup to backup all your apps if you're not already using it.

ok
how to use INT2EXT4+ ?
I don't have an app like Link2SD.
Try going to data/local with a root explorer and delete .apk files in there. Link2sd sometimes makes a copy when linking apps and they end up in there, just taking up internal space.

The tutorial is in the link. It makes the phone have more "internal" storage (using the space from the SD card) so all you gotto do is to install apps and they will work as they usually do. You have to partition your SD-card, just search "partition SD card xda" on google and ull find a tutorial for that.

yeah because some ROM already have script sdext u must remove it before using amarulz script..
use rootexplorer go to system>etc>init.d
When you link apps to sd-ext, the data from all those applications still stay on internal memory. Those consumes a lot of space. Better try moving movable applications to sd card.
Even I also faced the same problem on an earlier ROM. Didn't find a solution though.

Dumpstate issue
I got this crap in my N7000
in my case, solved by:
*#9900#
Delete dumpstate/logcat, confirm, go down and press Exit.
My problem was solved.
Sometimes, once per month, I must do it again...
Well I fixed it with another way. I simply went at the storage options and I changed it to install all the new apps at the sd card. After that it only showed it one more time and then it was gone.
Hey guys,
I've been going back and forth between Sense and CyanogenMod, and finally after setting up CM to how I like it, I checked the internal storage and it say's I only have 5GB left. I'm fairly sure there is some data that is not accounted for, but I've also tried checking with apps like SD Maid, and I can't seem to find it.
I have the 64GB model
Here is what Storage in settings shows:
Total Space: 54.26GB
Available: 5.25GB
Apps: 634MB
Audio: 18.59GB
Downloads: 17.60MB
Cached Data: 153MB
Misc: 391MB
I currently have the ATT HTC One 64GB model
CM10.1 05.19.13 Build
SuperUser and CWM Recovery
If anyone has any idea about what could be taking up all my space and how to fix this problem, I would be grateful. Thank you!

Wouldn't that include the 18 gigs of music? I wish I could post the screenshots I took of the settings page (Under 10 posts lol), but when it says calculating, the bar goes all the way to the right and shows that majority of the space is being used. But once everything is calculated, the bars go back to normal.
Use an app called SdMaid, as you have root it will work really well and tell you what the biggest files are on your phone, where the most data is etc. Give it a try

I've tried using SDMaid, and it says most of it is in /data. Something interesting I found though is that there is a an sdcard0/ folder and emulated/ folder that have the same files. Could this be the problem, that most of my files are being duplicated? Or is this normal?
Bump. Anyone have any ideas on what's happening?
Just noticed you're using CM 10.1 Could be the ROM has only set 32gb to use? Might need to poke the CM developers to allow you to use the full fat 64gb.

That's completely normal for 4.2. That's the same for all devices running the same OS version.
Also, you can upload a screenshot to a site like imgur (probably easier to use the imgur app) and then use the option to copy BBCode. You'll then be able to post it even though you're under 10 posts
Hmm that's weird. I tried using pics from TinyPic but they didn't work. Imgur does though. Thanks!
Just used DiskUsage, and it's showing that System Data is taking up 30 gigs of data. From what I've been seeing, this shouldn't be so. Any suggestions?

Also, I know that apps and gamnes go into this folder, but I don't have any large apps or games on this phone. Largest app says it's Candy Crush, which is only 45Mb.
I'm pretty sure it might be just Cyanogenmod being set to 32gb instead of 64 gb. Do a full backup, install the stock ROM and see if you get the full space?

I'll go ahead and try that.
Few questions:
When I install stock ROM, do I need to install the stock recovery or is that only for if I want to restore my phone fully to stock (un-root)?
How do I set CyanogenMod to 64GB?
Just installed the stock ROM. Wiped everything with CWM then installed via zip. I opened up the Storage settings and it still shows that something is taking up my space.
Looks like my photos and music stayed behind though. Do those not get deleted with a full wipe?
Nope, your files on your SD card stay

Figured it out. Turns out I haven't been doing a full wipe when I do a factory reset in CWM. I usually did wipe user data and dalvik cache, but after reading online I also had to do /system, /cache, etc. That pretty much wiped everything, and then I restored it from a backup. But stupid me also formatted the internal SD, so I had to reimport all my music and pictures.

Standard stuff. Advertise as 8gb, but max for usage is 3.64gb. Same stuff as in 16gb Galaxy S2. Advertise as 16gb, got 11gb instead. Reason: System ROM is also included in that advertised 16gb. Same goes with a 500gb as NTFS, you got 465gb shown instead.

As you may all know Samsung disabled the Adoptable storage function in the Tab S. Even the well known S7 hack doesn't work. Well now it's back...
Thanks to some legwork (no pun intended) by @longshanks197 we now have a workable solution.
As previously thought, Samsung disabled adoptable storage in the framework.
I have created this patch to fix the issue by patching the boot image and replacing sm.jar in system.
This will enable the adoptable storage feature in Settings>Storage
NOTE: I advise making a backup with TWRP before proceeding.
INSTALL:
Copy the zip below to your device then install with TWRP.

For information how to enable adoptable storage see the guide below:

i think this statement from the 1st post should answer your question.
I'm not interested into apply the feature from settings because I prefer to have half of sd as portable using adb command (mixed 50 variable), that's why I'm asking.

You can still do that but you'll have to use adb or android terminal.
Since adoptable storage option is due to a patch, what happens to internal sd partition (and related data) when we update the firmware?

Most likely nothing as the partitions are handled by vold so it should still work regardless
However you may lose the settings in storage.
You can always reapply the patch.

I would take the combined storage info with a pinch of salt and just pay attention to the individual storage info which seems to be correct.
It's the same issue for the S7 and other Samsung devices.
Looks like Samsung cobbed something else or maybe this is one of the reasons they disabled it?
I am just going to disable AS, I was just giving it a try, I prefer to be able to remove my microsd when i need, but this bug should be listed.
Thanks

Thank you so much, this is the patch I've been waiting for since I upgraded to MM and had to realize that adoptable storage didn't work with my SM-T805.
I split my SD-Card via adb and one of those tutorials existing for S7/S7 Edge, I used this one: http://www.modaco.com/news/android/heres-how-to-configure-adoptable-storage-on-your-s7-s7-edge-r1632/
Everything went fine and I had 16 GB more free space. The bug that the amount of total space is not shown correctly doesn't bother me, what counts is the new free space that is displayed correct.
16 GB is a joke for the Tab S.
