Hello, I was wondering whether anyone else has this problem? It seems that whichever way I take photos from the Camera, the resulting photos will be landscape even if I took it in portrait mode. I really don't like having to rotate every single portrait photo that I've taken. For example, I always have to rotate a portrait pic before uploading it on Twitter, otherwise it'll be sideways. Very troublesome.
I've googled the problem, searched throughout xdadev but no one seems to have this kind of problem. What's more annoying - the resulting photos show up correctly in the gallery, but when I transfer it to my laptop, the pics remain sideways. Very strange as my old Desire HD always auto-rotate a pic taken in portrait mode.
Cheers guys!

JACK HI, I believe there is a sort of problem(setting?) That causes that behaviour
Cause I can take pics in all the way and they are shown in the same way...landscape - landscape and portrait - portrait. With every rome I had!
If u don't find a solution rotate them manually ...which anyway is annoying !

Thanks for replying, simika! Unfortunately I've dug everywhere and there is no menu in the Settings that could solve my problem. It really is annoying having to manually rotate them because I love taking pictures in Portrait mode!
3rd party apps also won't autorotate image results. So annoyed.
I have the same problem. Looks all ok on the phone itself, but after transfer, they are all in landscape. I don't have that with my other 2 cameras and iphone.
I noticed that on one of my cameras, there are two settings, one to "rotate in camera only", and one to "rotate in camera and PC".
Looks like Note performs option 1, even though I have not found any setting at all in Note.

Sorry to bump an older thread, but I've just discovered this same problem for my phone. Was this ever resolved? When I take snapshots, it's usually in portrait mode. Well I noticed something. While everything looks fine on the phone in the gallery, when sending people pictures, they sometimes (not all the time) get them in landscape. I also noticed that when uploading pictures to twitter, or facebook, pictures will be landscape, always rotated 90 degrees to the right. So in stead of "I" , I get "_" .
Then I noticed something, when entering the camera app, the status bar automatically appears on the right side of the phone, as if it's assuming that I rotated my phone to the left, meaning the right side of the phone is now the 'top.' Then when I hit the home button, I see my main screen rotate back to normal. I've tried turning screen rotation on and off, restarting my phone, powering down completely, removing the battery, and even turning off "auto rotate screen" in the accessibility options. I'm currently rooted and using a slightly modified official AT&T ICS ROM.

Hi everyone.
I searched for a similar problem in the forum and could not find it so, I decided to try this way.
I have a Touch Diamond for a month now. I noticed that after taking a photo with 3MP resolution, the camera hangs. I have to do a soft reset in order to access the camera again.
Another thing that happens is that the photos taken in all modes are green (except the ones with "L" resolution).
Does anyone have a similar problem?
The only advanced thing I did was to activate a few extra photo modes using advanced config.
Thanks a lot
JohnT
Just another hint...
Just another bit of info.
the photos are green on the touchFlo interface, not on the album. In the album they seem to be ok.
Thanks

Correction:
The photos less than 3MP seem to be ok when seen on the thumbnail album interface. However, when seen on full screen all pixels are green an pink. If you see them on the PC, it's the same...green and pink weird.
If I have the courage, I'm thinking of doing a hard reset this weekend, just to be sure it is not an hardware problem.
Any inputs?
Thanks
I had the same problem until I discovered that the cause was a setting in my AdvancedConfig. I don't know i f you have installed that program. But the greens screens are due to the G sensor. It's a particular setting in the camera node that you have to change. It's something like turn photo with G sensor.
I hope it has solved your problem
Fixed! At least for a Touch Pro
I had the exact same problem with the green and plaid color pattern in thumbnails and the actual picture on my phone.
I have the Advanced Config 3.x program and I found out that I had to: Encode photos in portrait mode under the Camera options needs to be set to NO.
Works fine after that!
Has anyone else noticed that when viewing pictures in the Album application in TF3D2, that the Gsensor appears to have no effect? Landscape pics appear in Landscape mode, no matter how you hold the phone, upright or sideways, and portrait pics appear in Portrait mode even if you've tilted your phone sideways.
Or is it just me? It's a bit of a pain if you're holding your phone in one hand and want to see all your pics the right way up!
(I'm not referring to slideshows, by the way)
This is strange, I've noticed it to. I'd like the photo album to auto rotate - any tweaks that anyone can suggest?
And even Gyrator doesn't rotate when viewing a picture. When i'm viewing the whole set of pictures, it works, but as soon as i select one, it doesn't. Strange...
Just wondering, how is the device to know what the bottom of the picture is? The picture could have been taken landscape or portrait, depending on how you held the device when you made it. IMO it's the best solution to just display the picture best fit on the screen...

The device does know. In the tab for pictures, it displays all pictures in their right aspects. As it also does in the gallery. Just not when you click on the picture to bring it up.

It must be stored in the file somewhere...
...anyway, getting back to the point. The Gsensor has absolutely no effect when viewing pictures. I cannot hold my phone upright and view a landscape image. This seems wrong to me - I'm 100% sure my old Touch Pro used the Gsensor to determine which way to display your pics - this seems like a big step backwards!
Mind you, it'll all be moot in September when Winmo 6.5 comes out - TF3D will be pretty much redundant :O)
any program that can help on photos rotation? thanks.
i get the same problem
i have used gyrator2 but it just can rotate the interface and 180 deg

i tried gyrator as well and it doesn't work maybe i dont know how to set it
Dosen't the Photoalbum rotate itself?I think it rotates but lets the pictures in their original position/rotation.
The buttons rotate, right? The old photoalbum did a better job^^
I found it to be a very annoying feature on the diamond1.
Sometimes you just want to see a pictuer from another angel, and the autorotation made that impossible.

Yes. The Exif information of the pictures contains generally the Focal length, shutter speed, iso, date & time, sometimes GPS coordinates (can be added later with software, and some new camera include GPS), and of course orientation of the picture : landscape or portrait. It stores even if it was 180° rotated in portrait or landscape.

Olivier.
I have to say my Diamond camera pictures are superb. I really do like the quality of pictures it takes and I use it a lot. Low light, macro, daylight, it's all good. However, controlling it can be very frustrating at times.
Sometimes I can't get it to respond or take a picture at all. I've used many ROMs and have had the same experience across the board. I'm sure many other Diamond or Touch Pro users have as well. I've found the problem to be that dang circle smart touch ring. It sounds useful to use with the camera but IMHO it only causes more problems than good. Initially I had my camera shoot option set to "Touch and press". I thought I would like to be able to focus first then click the action button after. Like my regular point and shoot. Well, it works some of the time. A lot of times it hangs up or freezes OR... It starts zooming in or out because I accidentally touch the ring.
So with that said, I have since forced my camera to work like the old days. Click of the action button only. I set my shooting option to "Full Press". It still will auto focus on it's own before the shot and then take the picture automatically. I've had no problems with this. It works great even with macro shots. But there is a second step I had to do which is actually more important I think. That is disabling the ring within the camera. To do that go into the the Registry Key: HKLM\Software\HTC\SmartTouch\Camera
Back this key up then proceed to delete everything in it. That will disable the smart touch ring from working within the camera. It still works everywhere else though. I don't see the need to zoom when taking the pic since it's digital zoom anyway. I can zoom on it in the Album afterward. You can still zoom if you want just by pressing the screen and touching it though.
Now my camera has been working like a charm without any hang ups, freezes or accidental zooming. Also when I press the screen to bring up the menu or hit the X it opens up every time too. Now when I reach for my Diamond camera to take a picture I'm much more confident that it will work on demand every time.
Much better for me and maybe you.
Thanks for the tip! I haven't taken the plunge on registry editing yet, but I'll definitely keep this in mind if I decide to. Any chance of releasing the edits as a CAB?
Really shame on HTC for not including this as an option. The combo zoom and shoot button is ridiculous.
I removed the entries from HKLM\Software\HTC\SmartTouch\Camera as you recommended also set the shoot option to Full Press and now i'm pretty pleased with my HTC Touch Diamond's camera. Thanks for sharing this info with us!
Okay so I'm in the market for a Moto X and was messing with it at the store. Seems like a nice little package. I did run into one thing that bothered me.
When in the camera app in portrait view after taking a picture to preview the picture I just took is a simple swipe from the right side in to open the gallery. All good and dandy. Unfortunately most of the pictures I take are from the landscape orientation and for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to bring up the gallery from that position without having to go back to portrait orientation. Am I doing something wrong?
It seems silly to me why they would move the buttons for settings and gallery when you rotate the phone. They should of kept the position the same no matter which way you hold it. Seems inconvenient to have to keep rotating the phone every time you want to preview your pic. As well as this phone is designed if there is no way to bring up the gallery from landscape mode I got to think they missed one there.
It works in both landscape and portrait for me, but I am running a leaked version of android 4.4. So more then likely if the current version doesn't support it 4.4 will when it is released.
you just swipe when in landscape also. i do it daily as i rarely take portrait pics. i dunno why you werent able to. you do need to swipe from the edge of the camera. not the edge of the screen. as the edge of the screen is the navbar and not the camera. hope that makes sense.
Thanks bud. I just watched a YouTube review of the phone and saw how to do it.
It is still a swipe from the right. Problem was I was doing it from the bezel and it kept pulling up some google feature. You still do it from the right only the swipe should start from just to the left of the home button. I swear I did that at the store but I must of been too close to the home button. Oh well, I still think they should of left it in the same place whether it is in portrait or landscape but I guess I'm no engineer.
I was in the tutorial mode though and in portrait it had a preview where it said settings on the left and gallery on the right. When in landscape though settings was still on the left but the gallery was NOT on the right and that threw me off.
Thanks.
Anytime. And that Google feature is Google now. If you buy android, or a new android if you currently use old android, you will want to use it. Its really cool.
I had this phone for a couple of weeks and I can swear I had it on portrait mode all the time so my phone did not rotate except for two instances: when viewing youtube videos if I tilted the phone it would rotate and when viewing picture I have taken in gallery. It auto rotated only in those two cases.
Today for some reason it stopped and now I can either have it all (auto-rotation everywhere) or nowhere.
I have really not messed with any settings. Did I miss anything? How can I make it back to the way it was?
I never use the gallery so can't speak to that, but what you describe for YouTube is not normal behaviour in my experience. if I don't have auto rotation on I have to manually select landscape.
maybe do a hardware test for the accelerometer
*#0*# then select sensor.
Sensor is working nicely.
Sorry I might have been wrong. Youtube didn't act like that. it turned sideways when I fullscreened it. That should be normal behavior.
But what pertains to the gallery - it always autorotated independently of the setting because it was always set on portrait mode.
if the accelerometer works I have to ask if your hitting the right icon for screen rotation ?
it's pretty close to sync and smartview
