I can not seem to get my NC to power off completly. I have tried holding the power button for 15 seconds and I have tried holding the power button then hitting the power off completly soft button that appear's.
The screen turns off ... but when I go back later to turn on my NC it was only in sleep mode.
Any thoughts ?
Holding just the power button and the home button until it powers down works for me to fully power down. Sometimes I need to hold both again to turn back on.
Could it be that the Nook is powering on by itself after a power down? I've run into this a couple times so far. As well, for the longest time my 2.1 Milestone had this problem. I would do a full power down, and some time after the phone would boot up by itself. This was later addressed in a small update to the 2.1 that I'm running on the phone.

Mmmmm well this situation would suck. Not sure how to fix this then. It does seem like it is powering down and rebooting itself a bit later .. ?
I only have to hold the power button for two or three seconds, then the power off dialog box appears.
I have a Captivate with bricked power button. I disassembled the phone, tried to press the pushbutton soldered to the PCB, but the phone won't recognize the 'click'. Updating to teamhacksung build 12 doesn't help either. So, I re-assigned the power button to the Search capacitive button.
However, one problem lingers. If I long-press the Search button, it will bring up the "Power Off" option normally appears when you long-press the normal power button. I don't want to turn off my phone as it may not turn on again now that the power button is bricked (currently, phone immediately turns on after I re-insert battery). Is there a way to remove this "Power Off" option?
Thanks
First of all, I suggest you immediately remove your search button as your power button. If your phone turns off, which you say your on ICS build 12 (which is still pre-beta software... aka - unstable) it is very likely your phone will turn off one day, and you're screwed. I suggest you take your phone to an att store and see if you can get an exchange. Use a hardware button as your power button, i.e. your volume keys
Can't turn on display on Samsung GT5570OI with GB 2.3.6 and enter to unlock mode.
When mobile screen is in standby and I press HOME button nothing happens. I need to press POWER button to show UNLOCK on screen, then I simply unlock the screen with drag.
How to setup that my HOME button working the same way as POWER?
How to show UNLOCK screen with HOME button?
This normally works (HOME and POWER buttons) on my Sasmung Galaxy S and Galaxy 3 model, but can't figure it out how to setup this on Mini.
Thank you.
u hav to remap the wakelocks in keylayout. This feature is not present in GB i think. So to use this feature, flash a custom rom like CM or stock

This has happened to me once and I recall someone else on the forum also had that issue. Just turn off the phone by holding the power and volume up together. The power button should work as normal after that.

Seems a software bug. Happens to me sometimes too.

Hi guys !
My power button just broke on my SGS GT I9000, I was able to change the lock button from power button to volume up button. But when my phone is off, I can't turn it on back without putting it on download mode and flashing the kernel to force a reboot.
Is there a way to rebind the power up button on an other button when the phone is off ?
Thanks for any help
not sure if this'll help http://blog.zackehh.com/remap-the-android-power-button/
Thanks but that's not really helpfull, because I'vre already did that, and my volume up buttons is just recognize as power/lock button when my phone is on, but not when my phone is off.
I did it in the aries-keypad.kl file in the keylayout folder. Maybe I have to do it in an other file ?
have you tried Button Remapper? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464
Yes I've tried, but it says that my phone isn't compatible. I've download the galaxy S version, and it says the same. I think I'll have to repair the button. Any idea about the price ?
