Hi guys,
I'm in need of help here I ran this command:
HTML:
cd ~/android/system/
repo init -u git://github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git -b gingerbread
repo sync -j10
Then it gave me a long string of codes, which means it was downloading the resources off github. But then when I was done(15 hours later ) I went to check /android/system/ but there weren't any changes made(still nothing inside). SO my question is is there something wrong or it's normal, because I've googled it and one particular guy said that the repo is a hidden file and you won't be able to see it unless you use a code in terminal or something like that. Have I done something wrong? Any help is appreciated!!!
Regards

Hi guys,
I use Ubuntu 12.04 LTS(Main OS) and somehow I tried again and it works I saw the files, becuase eagleeyetom told me that repo sync gives a lot of errors. Does anyone know if I have to copy proprietary files before entering "make -j4 otapackage" ? And if I have to, must I be on stock ROM?

i preffer to vo-1 unofficial build one.
it has more features, and less bug also
Ok cool guess I'm gonna have to make my own cyanogenmod haven't got anything to do over summer so I better start learning then. It shouldn't be that hard is it? I assume it's made up of Java scripts and XML

Not most of the times also! Only sometimes.
Nighty is an update which has less changes from the previous version. It is an update which is given out on a regular basis!
So, the latest nightly is an updated version of the stable version which has lesser changes. But, nightly might also be untested for stability! But for me, nightly is very stable!
By the way to be honest I haven't searched for this, please forgive me. Is there any tutorial on how to make a cm ROM from source ??? what do I need to know ??? what languages ???

Errr... Coding is different from compiling. I code Android Apps. Compiling is just doing a git pull and modding some files.
If you want to properly compile it, use Git and grab sources from the Cyanogenmod repo from CLI.
Btw... I highly recommended you use Linux to compile it on. Use debian or Ubuntu.

You know,it is really easy to make a simple app which just pulls tweet and stuff, don't want to go into details...If coding is different from compiling(to an extent it is) then maybe you could explain how you could debug certain errors and also add new modifications..

lol well i have windows and linux dual booting on both laptop and desktop lol
Run as sudo
If it still doesn't work,then
Menu>Users and Groups>assign your account administrator and root permissions.
Might not be completely accurate as I am not using Ubuntu right now

I found a line of code that installs an app to transfer files from ubuntu to android, if anyone else needs to make that transfer here is the line
sudo apt-get -y install mtp-tools mtpfs gmtp
This will install a ubuntu app named gMTP and when you open that, you just attatch your usb with your phone, and click connect
Edit: after looking properly rather than posting to xda like a plank, I also found this lovely app incase anyone needs it

GMTP? Yes it works fine but its not like using wmp to transfer music or anything, you have to completely order your folders from scratch and if you have ocd Like Me that can take a while... It works brilliantly for file transfers but you can only Mount internal or SD one at a time which may be a little annoying otherwise its the best thing for Linux

This tool allows you to input the desired project name, package name, app name, minimum API levels and Class name and it will generate an Eclipse project for making an Xposed Module, it will set up dependencies for you. It will then create the project and you can imprt to eclipse. It is written in Java for cross-platform compatibility and anyway if you are making Xposed Modules, then surely you have Java installed....

Thanks OP for this! Was hoping it was a plugin instead. but this will work for now I already sort of did something like this, but just kept everything as "default" and would change the names after importing to eclipse. Would really like an eclipse plugin that would automatically create the project inside eclipse. I was planning on making one just havent gotten to it. I like this jar tho

OK do this download eclipse manually and for example eclipse Kepler and configure install the ADT bundle from zip not the link may be it would work. I was having the same problem when I upgraded too
