2. screen size of 4"
3. screen size of 4.3"
4. screen size of 4.5"
5. screen size of > 4.5"
Apologies on the last option in the poll. It says < 4.5. What i actually meant was > 4.5. (Typo)

i think this is a matter of what you self prefer.
And the size of your hands. a 4.5" screen phone is very hard to hold right with one hand or if you have small hands. for daily use 3.7" is more than enough.

Should be "> 4.5"" not "< 4.5".
Anything between 4" to 4.5". Anything bigger can not be operated with a single hand (ideally a phone should be usable with one hand), anything smaller is problematice for people with fat fingers..

4" to 4.3" is ideal for me any bigger is just a pain too big for pocket need 2 hands to type etc

Anything between 5.5 and 5.7in would be ideal for me. Can't get anything done with this crap 4" g2x.

Hey guys!
Nice, the first post in the section!
So, what do you think, will the S3 Mini have a SAMOLED Pentile layout or some other matrix layout?
Can't wait to hear your input!
Michael
lol I was gonna ask the same thing! I have a Fascinate, and it has pentile SAMOLED 800x480
I used a HTC Incredible [with LCD 800x480], and couldn't believe how good the display was.
I'm reeeeeeealy hoping Samsung will make it a SAMOLED+ display with RGB stripe, but unfortunately I doubt it's gonna happen :crying:
I guess time will tell.
What is the screen size supposed to be?

4 inches
Yeah, 4" 800x480, supposedly the same as the Fascinate, but I hope that it's not true, because I have a Fascinate and without a screen upgrade it'd be hard to justify the purchase of it unless I can find it for cheap on Craigslist. ;P
Not only is this a huge phone because it has a huge screen, Google decided to make the chin part of the phone bigger than it should be. I guess its to make the phone even to hold when you hold it horizontally? Anyway, I thought the advantage of moving the navigation buttons onto the screen was so that you didn't have to make room for buttons, but the chin bezel is big enough for buttons. Actually... now that I think about it, having a tiny chin area would look weird.
If the screen was 4.5" and the bezel was put to use, this would've been a perfect size for me!
Nevertheless, I will be getting this phone because my HD7 dies after sending a few texts.
Well understand that it was adapted from the LG Optimus G, so they probably just didn't rearrange the internals enough to get rid of the "chin". But yes, it is rather silly to get rid of physical buttons to save space, yet not actually remove the wasted space

Yeah personally I prefer it to be like this and have that "wasted" screen real estate because I prefer a smaller phone, so its like a 4.5" phone with the ability to display 720p in 4.7" people complain so much!

Why would you give up such a nice screen for nexus?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
It's possible Google/LG could've found a way to remove the "chin" on the device. What would you have been willing to give up for that, though? Would you have shrunken the battery? Would you have made the phone thicker? I'm just not sure I would want to sacrifice any of the phone's features over a chin that ultimately balances the phone's design out anyway.
And then The Chin leaves, and Conan takes its place. But all the sudden The Chin wants to come back and Conan can't be on tv for a while. Is that really what you want?

Why would it? How would it be any different from another phone that has it's capacitive buttons there?
dont forget, the led notification light is there. so the big chin is not totally useless
I think is very useful to hold the phone when having a video chat for example, I use Skype a lot and was very annoying on the s3 where was really easy to press accidentally the buttons...

I'm trying to find out how sensitive the screen is to touch on the Nexus 4.
Could those of us fortunate enough to have received our Nexus 4's run a short test and post the results? The reading required is for tapping the screen - not swiping.
You need to enable developer options first which was hidden in the latest update to 4.2:
Go to About Phone and click on build number 7 times
Click to collapse
Then enable the pressure measurement:
You can view the pressure by going to Settings -> Developer Options -> turn on Pointer Location. This will allow you to see the Prs of each tap in your status bar.
Click to collapse
So,TAP the screen as lightly as possible (DONT SWIPE) and post the Prs number displayed in the status bar here. Cheers!
I got a PRS of 0.48.

The lower the value the more responsive the screen is to taping. For example when typing on the keyboard, it help to have a low PRS of around 0.2-0.3 so you don't miss any letters.
Nexus 7 PRS is as low as 0.01.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Lowest value I got after a quick few tries was 0.26.

Yup I also got 0.48. Keyboards good though I dont miss anything.
That was average, The overall lowest I got was like 0.35.
Lowest . 21. 36 average

0.26 was the lowest i got. this is with the thick ass initial screen cover still on. seems plenty sensitive to me.
This is pretty interesting. What sort of PRS does the iPhone 5 get?
And what's PRS?

A comparison is definitely interesting.
But sounds to me like the numbers can also say something different than it is in real life usage.
Mainly getting 0.50 - 0.55, got a few 0.3 something and one 0.28
I get .15 on the Nexus S. It has a Zagg Invisible Shield (if that makes any difference).
Lol whaat? I get 0.02 on my Galaxy S2
0.14 - galaxy S
Just for comparison
galaxy nexus also is at 0.27+ but no big deal, no one complained about it. Nexus 7 does indeed has great sensitivity, at 0.01-2 easily.
Wow these values for nexus 4 aren't all that impressive I can easily get .15 multiple times on my g2
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda app-developers app
My Galaxy nexus on 4.2 averages PRS 0.38 while typing with light touches the lowest value I can get by really trying is PRS 0.26 so don't know if its a 4.2 trait

0.3 to 0.6 on Xperia mini pro.

wow. i get 0.01 on my toshiba thrive and it wont change.... am i doing something wrong? lol
I really doubt these numbers are strictly comparable between phone models since its probably just reported by the touchscreen driver and they may all have different scales
Currently using an iPhone 4s alongside my nexus 7, OK its nice to have best of both world type devices, but I would like to use my nexus to be able to use mighty text type apps so I think its time to grab another android phone, got an option locally a guy wants to swap his galaxy note, but I'm thinking this is pretty close in size, what would you recommend?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Galaxy Nexus all the way. The Nexus 4 is too fragile and not worth the hassle in my opinion. Sure it has a quad core processor and 2Gb of RAM, but honestly.. who uses that on a phone.
I would recommend the HTC One X, but seriously... After some of the stuff HTC have been doing nowadays, I struggle to recommend HTC.
I have an original GNote and can't imagine having any thing else. There is a bigger difference in size then you would think.
And remember "When you go Note, 4 inches is a joke".
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I am finding N4 compliments N7 greatly. Basically you get some great raw power on both devices, but the tegra in the N7 give way for different, but complimentary usage. Tegra exclusive games run with great power, while N4 runs non tegra with even greater power.
Maybe it was a design decision so that both devices have equal usage. XD
Well screen size is also a factor. I am not so interested in watching video on the N4. Still I find myself using both devices at once a lot. N7 definitely being the couch/bed lazy movie viewing device.

Hmm, I'm thinking something different... I was looking for something suitable to use as a drive icon, for when the phone is plugged in to the computer. I think this might be it!
This is really cool - and yeah, some high-res images for wallpapers would be grand.
Even better, use it as a background for the N5 cropped to the right resolutions.
OK, CT scan next

A higher resolution is not possible with the hardware I get here, sorry for that! I think i could record a new image playing around with the camera frequency (=focus level) but i dont want to x-ray my phone 20 times to get an image which is a little bit less blurred.
