Hi all,
could somebody describe to me ,why increasing our thanks meter is super-duper needed?i see many of our member put in their sign"hit thanks".sometimes, post a reply just to have their thanks?so i just thought i have miss something important in here..
Actually thanks is not that important.
Its a general belief that the person with larger no of thanks is thought to be more experienced....
So
Press THANKS if I told you the importance of THANKS
Thanks is a small reward for someone who works hard in this forum contributing and developing.

It doesn't matter that much. But at the end of the day, it acts as a consolation knowing that your efforts in the community actually help others .
And I think it kinda identifies us. You see differently a member with 50 thanks and differently one with 500, don't you think?
Sent from my X8 to your screen
Well, should be base on Recognized Contributor, Senior Member and so on, don't you think? i mean number of posts is really somewhat bias (not to mention spamming sometimes). Well, recognized developer, that's a total diferent story.
so its just for self satisfy only.i thought we could redeem something in xda with our thanks.btw i have hit thx for all above reply.thank you for make it clear for me.
pressing thanks is nothing but appreciating someones work . just because pressing thanks is free , dont forget to click on thanks for me !!!!!
I think the thanks button is a way to show you gratitude to those that develop sth for you or helped you. The obssesion of the thanks meter is because someones think that those who have many thanks are smart..bullshits.furthermore the respect you gained in this forum sometimes is based on the thanks meter...and that's true. I see many members be like that"oh he have 700 thanks and you have 10 of course the one with the many thanks have right!"
I am a member who have in his sig about thanks, but i dont really mind, and i dont ask for it if it isnt being given to me. (...but when they don't give it to my friends....[susano-o final form reached ])I think its just nice to hit the thanks button to someone who helped you, as i always hit it... I hate it when someone don't hit it by selfiness, that pisses me of
Also many times I use it as like button it's fun!

Maybe XDA should have a "Post with sarcasm" button somewhere
ultimate answer : keep using the old theme , there isnt even a thank button , or a thanks meter and nothing about it in profile .
also the posts are smaller on screen and better organised
I think there should be an 'Awesome' button on the bottom of all my posts and it should be mandatory for others to click it.
If i've helped you don't forget to recognise my awesomeness!

Or maybe none of us see that awesomeness. I'd vote for that one for sure. I may even give a thanks or something of that nature. You're going to have to get a better avatar to be that awesome. It just reminds me of wavelengths from physics. You should check out a llama avatar. That's worthy of an awesome button.

Don't even get me started on the donate button! I've seen new members with less that 20 posts and no dev work released, with donate buttons! Next thing will be a suggested amount.

Even when a third party asked to add my WM themes to their site i refused the offer of a donate button. It's just for the fun of doing it...getting paid makes it a job!

I recently start using the Mini because my X10 is in the repair shop and I must say that I find it disturbing how these devs seem more interested in how many "thanks" they get instead of providing quality work to share wit the community!
I've owned several android devices and I must say that this part of XDA seems like another website entirely.. devs over here wll even hold off on releasing roms unless they get certain amounts of thanks..
Can someone explain why the ridiculous fascination with the thanks button?

I don't see this happening, though some ask for it in their sigs..as long as it's polite it's fine else u can report it.
yeah I give thanks all the while but to create topics saying" I found a great fix for a problem, and if I get some thanks I might release it" Really? I saw that a couple days in the Android Dev section and was confused.. its like a currency for releasing roms or something..
I dont want to call out anyone and post links but I'm sure you guys have seen it.

I wanna ask something
in my lag-free script there are 2 version one is for thanked users and other anyone can download
only difference is in special script, one can put his own name as the folder, I did this by seeing app devs, script is the result of my 23days hard work
please tell if it is OK

thanks meter is useless, it is being hugely abused.

This thread purpose is to report a small bug that may help us, the community, to reward with more thanks our few developers.
Hey guys,
Recently I have tested what happens if press the thanks button from my xda premium app and this actually works, when I reach my limit of thanks I still can give thanks from the app even if the app will report that I can't give thanks anymore. You can check this by yourself:
1) reach the thanks limit
2) find thankless post
3) press thanks button from your phone
4) check the site from your pc because xda app won't recognize your thanks too soon but if you check the site you'll actually see the thanks you've just pressed on your phone.
So the conclusion is: Go on and press the thank button for every developer you see, they deserve it.
Thank me first.

Asking mods to delete this thread as it servers no purpose other than finding a loophole in the XDA app. And others might see this as a way to get thanks, which is sad in my eyes. Earn your thanks by helping, not having "press thanks if I helped you" in every single post :thumbdown::thumbdown:

Hey, I haven't made this thread for thanks, this thread is to remind you to press the thanks button when a developer deserve it, also as you can see with this thread I have reported a small bug in the app thanks limit so don't limit yourself to just reading the title, you can always read the whole post. One more thing, have you actually read the post or at least have you understand a thing from this post ?
I do not think so and your arrogant accusations should be kept home because you just say things without rationality.

I fully agree with your sentiment Red . The trouble is the following posts, after your first , were farming thanks unfortunately .
Certainly not your fault but some didn't take your thread in the spirit it was meant , ie lets thank all the devs more as they deserve it .

WHAT Is IMPORTANT IN Us is NEVER LET ANYONE KNOW HOW WE STUDY
I AM SHARING THIS WITH U SO THAT IT SHOULD NOW BECOME A THING KNOWN to everyone
First calm down before studing.
BE CURIOUS ABOUT WHAT U WILL LEARN.
We should study a chapter on three parts first knowing the concept then get to details and then write it down once
1.get to the concept
This is very important as u should know the concept and what matter are u learning be curious and understand the situation the thong is and to get to a level of a scholar, get the thing ur learning in some other situation it will not be given in the text, it actually bends ur mind and makes u think
Get the details.
Details are very important as they help u to get extra marks as everyone dosrnt try to focus on it and try to neglect it
Use details as a plus point to ur studies and as a secrete wepon too.
After every one hour don't forget to take a break of 10 minutes as scientiests says this too.
Write down ur ans once.
Writing concepts can help u to make a pprint of what u have learnt.
This is known as image framing. In our daily life we memorise many images but all of them are stored on our ram we gave to convert it to fixed memory so write without looking.
Have fun play on PC relax simultaneously as stressing too much will make u mad.
Iisten to what ur parents say and focus on ur goal
AND MOST IMPORTANT THROW UR ELECTRONIC EQ 3 MONTHS BEFORE EXAMS

This is true, however we must work around this. How, I do not know. All I know is that we are now scholars (thanks to XDA-Developers forum user scorpio_K) and that we MUST use that fact to our ultimate advantage.
