I have system V5.902/ Eclipse V2.1. I would like to update to EV3.0, but I honestly dont know how. Please advise...
I am quite familiar with rooting and roms. I had the HP Touchpad and now have the Toshiba Thrive (rooted and rom'd).
Do you have a back up in BSR or safestrap of STOCK .902? by stock, all bloat is there, no apps froxen etc.
if so, restore to .902 STOCK (i would backup eclipse first)
download the .905 update. and eclipse v3.0
place both on sd-card. (recommend external)
reboot into stock recovery (hold vol + & - when powering up, use down to scroll to recovery, up selects, once you see the triangle hit both vol keys again)
Chose apply update from .zip
navigate to it. (name wil have .902 in it, this is because it needs to be applyed to .902)
apply it (no need to wipe)
boot up.
root useing motofail.
install bootstrap (i recomend the eclipse bootstrapper here: http://eclipserom.com/vforum/showthread.php?220-Bionic-Bootstrap-Recovery )
boot into bootstrap.
WIPE data, cache, dalvik cache (its under advanced)
format /system. (not as scary as it seems.)
chose eclipse and install it.
DONE!

if you dont have a backup this is what i would do. (Requires FXZ)
back up your eclipse.
download RSDlite (NEWEST!!)
download the .902 FXZ file
download the moto drivers for your phone (NEWEST!!)
(PM me if you cant find these. ill put them in a dropbox for you)
then FXZ back to .902
root useing motofail
install bootstrapper (eclipse one i recomend)
BACKUP YOUR FRESH STOCK .902! (just a safe place to restore to, always handy)
now
download the .905 update. and eclipse v3.0
place both on sd-card. (recommend external)
reboot into stock recovery (hold vol + & - when powering up, use down to scroll to recovery, up selects, once you see the triangle hit both vol keys again)

also, do you have the drivers installed?
and what i did was unzipped the folder the .fxz file was in.
just unzip it on your desktop, and navigate to the .fxz
i had that problem too. after trying three diffrent downloads, i foundout my RSD was a olderrverson, and my moto drivers was old.
use the link i gave you. at the bottom is all the stuff i used.
Yes, all the proper drivers are installed. I even have the latest RSD Lite. It still gives the same error msg.
Curious...I do have the 902 rom'd with eclipse 2.2....
hhmmm. unzipe and there is one xml fie ad some bin and img files....no fxz??

i had this same message. uninstall your drivers and install the newest, same with RSDlite. even if you are 110% sure that is the newest, do it anyway.
im not sure what's causeing it. but i did a whole array of things trying to get my Bio running again.
used a few diffrent FXZ files, uninstalled and reinstalled both the drivers and rsd. oh. reboot your machene. winders is a little slow with programs. a good ole reboot always helped it.
but, even if all Bionics are made the same, its like each phone has a mind of its own.
http://eclipserom.com/vforum/showthread.php?1712-help
read that. start at post 8. its just all the stuff i went through and recorded it as it went on.
my fix was the moto drivers i think. cause i had them, just never installed them (thaught my DX2 drivers would do)
RSD must be 5.5 and up too.
man i hope im helping you more than confuse you.
i kinda just comeback and throw things in as a edit as i think of them xD

they probably should incorperate the drivers into the FXZ package for all moto phones, instead of having us look everywhere to find them.

NOTE 1: I have only tested this on 1.5.7 from AT&T.
NOTE 2: It could **** up your device, use at your own risk. Mixing a Telstra shared library (v2.2.2) in our ATT 2.2.1 system is an ugly hack
... but, it fixes Skype.
Requires: root. adb. smarts.
You can do the following steps, OR, apply libaudio-new-cwm.zip in CWM...
1. adb push libaudio.so /data/local/tmp
2. adb shell, su, "mount -o remount,rw /dev/null /system"
3. "cp /system/lib/libaudio.so /system/lib/libaudio.so.orig"
4. "cp /data/local/tmp/libaudio.so /system/lib/"
NOTE: Next steps cannot be skipped if you are using "Root Explorer" or some other method besides adb to copy over your old libaudio.so:
5. "chown 0 /system/lib/libaudio.so"
6. "chgrp 0 /system/lib/libaudio.so"
7. "chmod 0644 /system/lib/libaudio.so"
(sets mode to -rw-r--r--)
Enjoy your audio apps! Reboot doesn't seem to be necessary, the audio services crash and restart when the library is copied over. Hopefully we'll finally get a proper fix for this from the next OTA update.. you may want to return libaudio.so ("cp libaudio.so.orig libaudio.so") before you apply any OTA, so your system is virgin.
WARNING
This mod can cause a boot hang if you do it wrong. If you wanna be safe, please do the following (hopefully except step 3 ):
1. Have Tenfar's CWM installed first!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1019143
TO GO BACK TO OLD (BROKEN) 1.5.7: Copy libaudio-recover.zip to /sdcard
TO USE NEW WORKING (TELSTRA): Copy libaudio-new-cwm.zip to /sdcard
2. Use CWM to apply new libaudio (or return to stock with 'recover.zip')
IF something happens and you want to recover your original (see NOTE below for non-ATT 1.5.7 users):
3. Start CWM, navigate to "Install zip from SDCARD" and "choose zip from internal sdcard" and pick libaudio-recover.zip from within CWM (to start CWM: pull battery after hang and then plug Atrix to a wall charger, NOT a PC usb hub and re-insert battery) This will bring you back to the old, non-working 4.1.57 libaudio.so.
NOTE:
If you are not on AT&T and 1.5.7 then copy your original libaudio.so into the libaudio-recover.zip and recompress libaudio-recover.zip (using 'deflate' [usually the default] setting ONLY.) Then put it in /sdcard before you tinker...
Or better yet, use CWM to make a backup of your whole system which you can restore later... trust me, you won't regret it!
But so far, most have no problems with this mod... PM me if you do!

Ouch, I replaced the file with root explorer, got a backup of the old libaudio.so in the same folder, and after reboot phone gets stuck at Motorola Dual Core with red led flashing.
Is there a way to recover it (e.g. a way to restore the old file which I have as libaudio.so.org in the same folde) without flashing back to the stock rom or with a hard reset? (I am lazy to reconfigure everything).

i did restore, via Tenfars recovery..
if you made a working backup before, you can advaced restore, and restore only your system..

eg to restore your backup of libaudio.so via adb.. i would be great

Hum? You just did the same exact steps via root explorer instead of adb and the result is a hang on boot? Were you on 1.5.7? If you have clockworkmod I can whip up something quick to try and help you, but you need to have a micro sd card. This is assuming that libaudio.so is why you cannot boot, but I didn't realize it was loaded quite so early, I've done very early mods and my hangs come during the "rethinking possible" and I have no LED activity. PM me if you have CWM.

Is Bell Atrix unable to use skype? You can try but why don't you first install Tenfar's CWM and PM me if you have any issues... are you rooted? CWM is very useful to have. I can build a recovery zip for you in case it fails and you can put it on /sdcard before you try the libaudio hack.
Can I load CWM via NVflash as explained in this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047792
And recover with a script? Or do I need a fully booting phone to install CWM via NVflash?

New - No more partition editing required!
HC16JUN2011
HD Video
-Changelog
Like with any rom, YOU MUST WIPE CACHE, SYSTEM AND DATA, this rom especially, the is a pre alpha and has issues with cache, if you don't clear your info every time you will run into problems. I also clear Dalvik Cache and Battery Stats.
Old info on how to partition
STEP 1 – You need the new NVFlash click here for the unpartitioned onces(may need these)
NVflash edit- pretty simple you need to change the android fastboot full, you'll find that file towards the top of the nvflash folder or you can download my premade ones: (BUT I DIDN'T FORCE YOU TO DOWNLOAD THESE, IF YOU BRICK YOUR DEVICE BY USING THESE THEN YOU BRICKED IT NOT ME, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED)
Sorry about the mega upload, working on getting my server up, also CWM is untested, it had some problems but I believe that was due to file size.
Clockwork Mod folder
Stock Recovery Folder
The section your looking for looks like this
[partition]
name=APP
id=9
type=data
allocation_policy=sequential
filesystem_type=yaffs2
size=209715200 <---(here is the money)
file_system_attribute=0
partition_attribute=0
allocation_attribute=0x10
percent_reserved=0
filename=system.img
minus the arrow and the here is the money you'll find the size listed as 209715200, you need to change that to 536870912, once you save go to here to setup your APX drivers and prepare to flash according to the link
STEP 1.1 – THIS IS FOR CLOCKWORK MOD RECOVERY ONLY Download Here
Make a copy of your nvflash folder, I name it PIXEL QI CW Mod
STEP 1.2 – THIS IS FOR CLOCKWORK MOD RECOVERY ONLY
Thank you darknao
Quick & Dirty method :
Extract the recovery.img from the clockwork.zip, and copy it to the nvflash folder(replace the original one).
Step 2
You need then to put your device into force recovery mode, so turn off your device, then power it on while holding the power + the volume down button till a orange and a yellow lite light up.
Step 3
Run the download.bat file described in the nvflash or unbrick your adam thread - now you can change the file name of the rom to update.zip and flash freely!
Reserved for other usage

Gapps are included however this build didn't have them, they had alot of problems with the sync feature, but in theory you should be able to use the latest gingerbread gapps, I will test that right now.
-OK I tested it out, the google setup frooze up on me, after restarting I was able to get into the initial setup, but I have the wifi only model, so I'm going to look into the gapp issue, see if I can find a way around.
-Tried a couple more copies of gapps including a HC edit for the nook sdk HC-- I would press more into this but with the rate of the updates I think its kinda pointless, for now Im going to adb push the market and see what I can get working, hopefully not in-vain since MrGuy and DJSteve move so fast with the updates.
after you use nvflash it will start to boot.. (this would be before flashing update zip) so should I power it down while its booting that first time in order to reboot to recovery and flash the zip?
I do but you don't have to if you use clockwork mod, it doesn't really matter, since you will be building your Dalvik cache once you install your rom.

APX is the force recovery, the drivers are included with the NVflash, you must put your device into force recovery, with your device off you press volume down + power till you get your two lights to light up by the power cord, it'll be red and yellow, this is force recovery mode, I am using CW with it and I have listed above how to flash the CW with the increased partition. If you can't figure it out I will be adding the NVflash files with CW mode and non CW mode with the partition edits tonight. I will be turning the change log into a FAQ as well.
Just flashed the ROM and it is awesome. I was just wondering how to get a file managers working. I can't see my sd card. But otherwise, its amazing that honeycomb is up so fast.

Sounds like you're using linux like me. Are you on ubuntu. Cause I tried and tried and even with chmod and sudo and still got the same error. Consider this post though from: http://notioninkhacks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=1651&start=30
Hey gibson, thanks heaps for that! Actually, yourncomment before asking which folder I was in did it. Very strange, I had to run the commands from 2 folders above the extracted one, then symlink all the other files into the folder I was running from. Will post more later for people who run into similar issues, likely over at the unbricking thread. For now I've got a dualboot setup, and am running a minimal natty rootstock. I tried using the full omap4 image (ubuntu's default arm), but could only get it booting with lots of errors and no gui. Will be aiming to install the netbook desktop (unity 2d) in the next few days.
Re the post above, rayman's boot image already includes the kernel, so it's not needed in the rootstock command. Re the other options, probably will work, but remember rootstock is limited in what you can build... I.e., unless you have heaps of physical ram, you will probably only be able to build a few packages. Head over to xda, and the ubuntu on adam thread there for more info. We have experimented a lot with rootstock builds, and some of that might be useful.
Has anyone tried raymans boot.img with a natty rootstock? Did it work, and has anyone gotten a 2d unity gui up and running? My minimal natty rootstock boots fine, though I notice a few errors. Not sure if they are problematic or not. In any case, the build I made seems to be missing some important wireless tools, so I will likely rebuild it again with them in it soon. Am I likely to run into any problems using rayman's boot image, and steveh's kernel, with a natty build? Happy to post up my work if I get anything decent. Cheers.
osx 10.6.6, thank you!

Here's a guide on how to restore to stock using the FXZ for OS X/Linux users.
1. Download one of the following fastboot binaries: fastboot-OSX or fastboot-linux and rename it to just "fastboot"
2. Download the FXZ and untar it anywhere.
3. Plug in your phone to your computer (preferably a back USB port if you're on a desktop, don't use a front USB port if possible) and shut it down (leave it plugged in).
4. Hold down the vol-down button on the rocker and boot the phone up, it should boot into AP Fastboot Flash Mode and it should say "OK to Program".
5. Run the following commands in terminal
Code:
./path/to/fastboot flash system /path/to/system.img
./path/to/fastboot flash boot /path/to/boot.img
./path/to/fastboot flash recovery /path/to/recovery.img
./path/to/fastboot -w
6. Shut off the phone by pressing the power button.
7. Boot back up and you should be back to stock!
Thanks for posting this for us linux users. Hopefully I won't have to use it any time soon haha

I am doing it right now. There are some issues. Without sudo, you'll get permission denied. With sudo, you'll get "./fastboot: command not found". After changing fastboot to be executable without sudo, you'll get "./fastboot: cannot execute binary file". With sudo, you'll get "./fastboot: 3: Syntax error: "(" unexpected"...so short story, this does not work properly yet

There is a one click Linux/Mac return to stock and root method there and it works. Hope that helps. It is extremely easy!
Bionic Restorer for Linux/Mac
OK, I'm finished with the new MotoRooter for Mac/Linux - naming it BionicRestorer because it's completely different. Right now it's in my Dropbox Folder, still no where to put it - lol.
Here's the link to BionicRestorer.zip
For Mac and Linux people - it's BionicRestorer v1.0
A way to flashboot restore your Bionic to 5.5.893
Download it, unzip it, cd into the BionicRestorer directory and type ./BionicRestorer.sh to run it. Mac folks can double click on the Mac-BionicRestorer.command file in that directory.
Linux People - this is solid, I've run it on LinuxMint (Ubuntu) and Scientific Linux (Redhat) and it worked everytime without a glitch.
Mac People - This is tempermental on the Mac, I've tried it on 3 different
Mac's and it worked sporadically on a Macbook Air running 10.7.2, didn't work on the iMac at all running 10.7.2,
and worked consistently on a Macbook running 10.6.8. Use at your OWN RISK!!!! If it hangs, all I
can is - try it again, or, run Linux, or, use RSDlite on Windows.
I can say that it worked consistently on a Macbook running 10.6.8
Option 3 (restore system, boot, recovery seems to work well on a Mac, but,
NOTE that these files are from v5.5.893! If you select option 3 you had better have flashed or updated to that version perviously, or, it will most likely bootloop when it finishes.
Note - This does NOT contain the actual files needed for flashing,
just the brains to flash them. You will need to download the zipfile
VRZ_XT875_5.5.893.XT875.Verizon.en.US_CFC_01.xml.zip from
http://rootzwiki.com...893-fxz-leaked/
then unzip it into the BionicRestorer directory.
Once it is extracted there should be a directory named:
VRZ_XT875_5.5.893.XT875.Verizon.en.US_CFC_01.xml
which contains all the files needed to do a flash restore.
And the menu looks like this:
BionicRestorer.sh (1.0) by crpeck
1. Restore a Bionic to 5.5.893 - NOT FOR 5.9.901 BIONICS!
-restores EVERYTHING to official 5.5.893
-wipes data
2. Restore a 5.9.901 Bionic to 5.5.893
-restores EVERYTHING EXCEPT for the cdt.bin to 5.5.893
-cdt.bin is restored using the 5.9.901 file
-wipes data
** YOU SHOULD ONLY USE THIS IF YOU ARE OR HAVE BEEN ON 5.9.901 **
3. Minimal Restore of system, boot, and recovery only
-restores ONLY the system, boot and recovery to official 5.5.893,
4. Root and ForeverRoot a non-rooted Bionic
-roots and installs the ForeverRoot hack
5. Copy 5.9.901 update file to sdcard
-this copies the unoffical 5.9.901 update file to your sdcard
chances are, your Bionic will bug you to do an update when it see's it
there, you can usually force it via the 'Check for Updates' screen.
6. Verify MD5sums of the flash image files (you should do this at least once)
7. Help - More detailed Information
q. Quit
NOTE: Selections 1-3 do NOT root the phone! Run 4 after running them.
By Your Command (1-7,q):
I took the .xml file from the VRZ_XT875_5.5.893.XT875.Verizon.en.US_CFC_01.xml.zip and re-wrote it into shell scripts (i also took out the piece in there that erases the internal sdcard - who wants to lose that - lol). There is a considerably amount of error-checking as well, but, I'm sure I missed something (which will result in v 1.1).
I encourage you to look through the scripts, feel free to modify and make it better! This may be the last release of this from me, as work is replacing my Bionic with a gnex in the near future - gonna miss the Bionic, it's been a fun learning tool.
Enjoy....
Oh - look at the 00_README_1ST.txt file - it's similar to this writeup, and, select the help option for more detailed information.
I've have to give this a try. I keep forgetting I have Ubuntu(dual-boot) on this thing. Heh

Hey guys, I posted this over at Rootz but it's not getting any action. I really appreciate the help...
Hey Gents,
I couldn't wait any longer so I installed Alpha2 on my Touchpad and was happy as a pig in sh*t after spending about two days on it. Then I got curious about the Nightly builds and came across a problem that is killing me. I can not boot into Recovery mode. I've tried everything, I've searched up and down on the forums but it seems like everyone can at least get into recovery. Moboot has "boot webOS Recovery" option but no "boot clockworkmod". I've tried through ROM Manager, I've tried through ROM Toolbox, etc. Nothing. I uninstalled the Alpha2 through ACMEUninstaller and then reinstalled the latest Nighty Build through ACMEIntstaller2 with the other files needed for Android. Nothing. I tried booting into recovery on my S2 Skyrocket, no problem. I'm pulling my hair out here.
Any ideas?
here's exactly what I did:
1- installed novacom driver
2- copied ACMEInstaller2 over to the Palm, Inc folder in Program Files
3- plugged in Touchpad via USB and copied the gapps, Cyanogenmod9, recovery_update_tenderloin and moboot zipped files to my folder I created "cminstall"
4- unplugged TP, put it in USB recovery mode, reattached it via USB and ran the command prompt
5- Ran perfectly smooth, played with Android for a few days.
- ROM Manager is installed, Google apps work perfectly, dual boot is alive and well, etc.
everything works great but RECOVERY. When I reboot and hit recovery or when I go straight into ROM Manager and hit recovery, I end up at the boot screen.
another weird thing... when I checked out my files in "cminstall" via Astro, the recovery one was still there as a zipped file. All the other files were gone. Not sure if this means anything but I figure the more info the better.
I am not totally sure on this so may get blasted, but check the filename of the zip in the cminstall folder. I had this impression that the zip files needed to start 'update-' for AcmeInstaller to handle them. I think some of the cwm zips have other filenames, but it doesn't hurt to rename and try AcmeInstaller2 again.
You probably need to clear up some room in the boot partition. I had the same issue with initial install of cm7. Recovery wouldn't flash properly because there was not enough room. Make enough room in your /boot and flash through ACMEinstaller.

Ok, so you mean on the Touchpad I need to get rid of a bunch of data? Like where I store music and movies and all that? I have a HUGE amount of free space on there. Easily 60% of the 32GB is free.
on a side note, would I be able to flash continuously through ACMEInstaller2 rather than CWM Recovery? Like say an official beta comes out, could I just run the command lines without all the other zip folders right over the version installed??

in your /boot folder you may have too much stuff... do some reading and delete everything that shouldnt be there

you could but why would you want to
yup, that was the problem! the CWM file I DL'd from precentral didn't start with "update". I grabbed the file directly from Rootz and it installed perfectly. Thank you so much, everything is working as it should now.
Thanks a lot guys.
In your /boot, if you wanna just have the stuff for WebOS and Alpha2, you should have the following in your /boot:
Folders:
bin/
dev/
etc/
lib/
lost+found/
proc/
realroot/
sbin/
sys/
usr/
Files:
boot-genesis.tar.gz
boot-images.tar.gz
boot.bin
config-2.6.35-palm-tenderloin
genesis-update.xml
image-update.xml
moboot.default
moboot.splash.CyanogenMod.tga
moboot.splash.webOS.tga
moboot.timeout <== You might not have this.
System.map-2.6.35-palm-tenderloin
uImage
uImage-2.6.35-palm-tenderloin
uImage.ClockworkMod <== You apparently don't have this
uImage.CyanogenMod
uImage.moboot
uImage.webOS
updatefs-info
If you have other files in there aside from those listed, feel free to delete the extras. Your /boot partition is only 30 MB, so you need to have some room left in there. The uImage.ClockworkMod is about 5 megs, and if you have nothing BUT WebOS and CM9 installed (I have the last official nightly), you should have 22 megs or so used.
Hope that helps, mate.
Hi guys,
I tried to update my 2x from 20e to ICS today but it was unsuccessful (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1959545). I tried to do recovery from the CMW as recommended but it fails. Error/ mounting system. When I reboot its stuck on LG logo. I have tried do recovery using NVflash but not successful either (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975274&page=5).
My previous setting: v20e. CWM 5.0.2.7.
Its been months since my last update for the 20e. I am not sure I am on the right driver. CMW version etc. and I have just use win7 from vista last two months. I am not sure if that affect too.
Any help are much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Do you click on the batch file, or on the nvflash .exe file? You should use the batch file, not the .exe. Also, open command prompt first, and run the batch file from there -- you will see all the errors and other messages. (I should probably put this in my signature, as I already mentioned it probably half a dozen times in different topics...)

It's the backup that you create in CWM.

Thanks for the feedback..how do I run batch file from command prompt?
Isit goto window-->cmd-->type: c:\nvflash\nvflash? I have created the "nvflash: folder in C.
Back to the source, I tried to follow as the instruction:
-Download the attached file and unzip it. The pack includes the APX driver (folder driver)
1.- Remove the battery to the phone.
2.- Press and hold Vol- and Vol+ and without releasing the 2 keys connect the USB cable to the PC
3.- Go to the NVFlash folder and run:
3a.- Windows should detect a new device APK, cancel the installation and install the driver which includes the ROM.
3b.- On Linux not ago missing driver.
4.- Browse to the folder where you unzipped the RAR and typing CMD in the breadcrumb bar, Linux opens the console.
- Type:
Windows
Code:
flash.bat
When I extract the file, the driver folder amd64 folder, i386 folder and nvidiausb file. I didn't see APX folder/file.
I am not clear abot step #3 open nvflash & run: (I am not sure what to run)
# How to go about in step 4? This is what I have tried. Go to the folder, type cmd, then type "flash.bat"
I see this:
c:\nvflasf>echo "flashendo lg optimus 2x" flashendo lg optimus 2x......
c:\nvflasf>nvflash.exe --bct star.bct --bct -- configfile android_fastboot_emm
c_ful.cfg - create -- bl.fastboot. bin -- go
Nvflash started
rcm version 0x20001
command send failed (usb write failed)
c:nvflash\ scho "listo!" listo!
Need help, I am sure where I do wrong.
Update: Somehow I made the recovery, same procedure as above. (Big thanks to Homero2 for the tools)
I wanna ask some question:
1-I have redo the ICS update (ICS extended by TonyP and Harsh). I encounter same problem as before (error 7). Any tips where might go wrong or what I should check before flashing.
2-Where I can flash from here (from Homero2 ROM)? GB only or I can flash to ICS or JB?
3-I try update the ROM manager via google play..but I think its only 5.2.0.7 version. Does higher version (v6) for ICS and do I need to do recovery before flashing via ROM manager?
Thanks in advance.
