After activating phone, dialer now crashes (ICS) - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a note N7000 that I got on tuesday. It worked wonderfully until today when I activated the phone with t-mobile. Now the dialer opens and I can type exactly 1 number before it hard locks. Rebooting the phone doesn't help, removing the t-mobile sim doesn't help either. The dialer worked just fine before activating the phone with my carrier.
Error message I get:
"Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped."
I'm running ICS installed via wifi upon first bootup of phone. I rooted it with rootgalaxynote method and added CWM. Otherwise stock rom. Any thoughts?

Well I had to do a factory reset but it did resolve the problem. Clearing cache did not help!

ICS Reset is a strict NO NO. Be very careful or you might end up bricking the phone.

[Q] launcher crash after factory reset

Hello,
I have a SGS I9000 Gt from France I think.
Everything was running good. I installed a bunch of apps when I first got the phone, checking stuff out. After playing with it for a few months I now have a good idea of what apps I would like to keep.
I decided to do a factory reset so I could start fresh when froyo does come out.
I performed three button recovery and did factory reset and wipe cache partition.
Problem is when I reboot I constantly receive "The process "blank" has stopped unexpectedly. please try agian." message, and I hit force close and it just pops right back up. TwLauncher, Daily briefing, acore, and a google one.
I did notice that in the recovery mode menu I get some red text saying "multicsc : can not acces to /system/csc/XEF/system/" But when I go through the steps to reset and clear cache, it does it and gives me a message "wipe complete"
I removed battery and sim card No sd, and tried again with no luck, every time I boot now same thing, apps keep crashing.
I hope that makes sense I don't really know what to do.
So yea any help would be great!
Thank you so much for your time.
I almost have the same problem here.
I updated the firmware with Kies, using the default firware that was found by Kies.
I guess it has to be a custom made ROM made by/for my phone service provider (Bouygues, a French company).
Upon restarting, I get the same pop-up messages. Cannot close them fast enough to use anything. My phone is not usable, though not bricked.
Ps : formerly running off-the-factory custom Bouygues rom. Rooted and using OCLF or something lag fix.
I solved at least MY problem :
Do a factory reset and wipe cache AND user data. Simple as that
The answer was actually in the [Warning!!!] Do not flash... thread. I should slap myself for not looking into it first.
Hope it solves your problem too.
Thanks for the help, but how do you how did you wipe user data? Maybe I am blind but I don't see it?
I think I did that when I did the factory reset. When I do boot up however, my original unlock pattern is still set...so I don't know wtf is going on.
FIXED!!
I used Kies Registry Patcher v.1.6.0.0
then reset user data and cache WORKS GREAT AND I HAVE FROYO NOW!!

Note to Self Fail ("unfortunately, Voice Search Has Stopped)

Running ICS 4.0.4 Stock. Note to Self has worked flawlessly sin the OTA. Tried clearing cache, data, reboot, no good. All other voice search functions are working, only Note to Self is generating the error.
Anyone else seeing this ?
Any ideas?
Thx
Alan
Just tried this myself. I don't get an error, but I just get a message box that I can type in. I thought previously I could just talk through the note and not have to type.

[Q] Constant Errors

Hi, I came here to XDA hoping to find an answer to my problem since I cant fix it by myself.
I keep getting errors like "process android.process.media has stopped" , "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" and "Unfortunately, the process android.process.core has stopped" with an 'OK' to dismiss it.
They appear when I'm using applications mostly applications that require internet connection like Browser, Playstore, Talk, Contacts, Google Search, Messaging, Gmail sometimes the settings. After the error appears the app will force close.
Sometimes the error appears even if i'm not doing anything like every time i wake my phone up the errors are there.
I'm Currently Running on:
4.0.4 ICS
DarkROM_v11.0_Black_Edition
I kinda know how the problem started, those errors appeared after I rebooted my phone, but before that I installed a Data Fix to fix my Low memory issue via Recovery, when I rebooted my phone everything worked fine after I installed it. then when i rebooted it again to change my battery that's when the errors appeared. I tried some solutions like clearing the data on those apps like contacts storage etc.. I also tried deleting my Google accounts and adding them back again still doesn't work.
It's really annoying and I can't really do much since they constantly Pop-up every few seconds.
Any kind of help is appreciated. :good:
Oh and by the way Factory Reset or anything that deletes all of my Data, is my LAST RESORT.
I'm hoping to find a solution without doing that. because i have a ton of game data stored on my phone. and it will be a pain to back them up. but if I don't have any choice i'll have to live with it.
SGS-I9000 :fingers-crossed:
what you could try is in CWM onl doe the wipes for cache and devlink. And additional fix permissions.
If this does not help, reflash the rom.zip just on top. Only also with wipe cache and devlink.
If this does not help, then you can try to flash just the gapps ontop. But be sure that you download the zip. for your rom and or for your ICS....
I am not sure which one is correct, but perhaps you can find in darkroms thread a link? You can find all of the gapps versions here: http://goo.im/gapps/
I think this one will work anyways, but its not the lateset: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
This one should be the neweset for ICS: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20111230-signed.zip
If all this doesn't help, i am afraid there is nothing else then you do a new, clean installation on your phone....

[Q] com.android.phone continuously crash

My friend's LG 4X HD has problems.
With one (and only that one) SIM com.android.phone crashes. I've tried other SIMs and they do just fine. I've also tried the problematic SIM on my GNex and it works like a charm.
I've tried looking at the logcat, turns out the problem is a IndexOutOfBoundsException caused by com.android.internal.telephony.gsm.LgeSIMRecords.run()
Here is a snapshot of the logcat: imageshack.com/a/img10/4903/9z4q.png
Phone is running 4.1.2
Baseband: L6260-MODEM-SIC-02.1233.00
Build: JZ054K
SW VERSION: P88020a-EUR-XX
Update: Hard Reset done, nothing changes. So I guess the problem lies in some system app.
Update 2: Even after downgrading to 4.0.3 it crashes.

Some apps reinstalled from titanium can cause this problem. If you find that is the case just go into app settings and wipe data for restored apps. That normally solves these problems. If you don't want to full wipe again just delete app data for all apps and see how you go.
Never used Titanium. The phone is 3 days old, he installed just Whatsapp but I've hard resetted it.
try another sim in his phone, if it works, atleast then you'll know it's not the phone
Settings / apps / all and clear data in contacts and contact storage. It's a pain to get there because of the pop ups but it's doable

com.android.phone error message

In short, I'm trying to get my rooted/rom'd Sprint variation M7 to function w/a new SIM card thru tello. I have the new SIM installed but cannot get the thing to activate. Whenever I click carrier services in settings, I get the com.android.phone error. I've reset the cache for the phone, cleared the cache partition thru TWRP, moved to a new ROM completely but no luck. Has anyone else had this issue.
Should I go back to original firmware? Unroot?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
