Hi there,
I have a GoPro digital camera and a Samsung Galaxy S2.
I also have an USB on-the-go adapter.
When I connect an USB stick (mass storage device), it is recognized by the phone and I can browse the contents of the stick using any file explorer.
When I connect the GoPro camera, the camera goes automatically to USB mode a couple of seconds later. And because of this delay, the camera is not recognized by the phone.
The phone seems to "read" only the initial state of the device. If the state changes later, this is not recognized by the phone. An USB stick is a mass storage device by default, therefore there are no problems.
I am running the official ICS 4.0.3 on the Galaxy S2.
The SD card of the GoPro is formatted as FAT32.
So, the question is: how do I get to read the contents of the digital camera on the phone using USB on-the-go?

Hello all,
A family member has recently bought a Philips dvd/media player (mcd122) that supports input via a USB device. USB drives formatted to FAT32 work fine with MP3 files, however I can't get my Galaxy S (with CM7) to work, even when turning on USB mass storage. It does read the USB device, but then reports "NO USB".
Is this problem related to the Galaxy, or to the media player itself?
Regards,
Quipeace
I guess that is because the phone is a composite USB device which the player cannot read...
It's a composite USB device even when having mass storage enabled? I've tried going into Clockwork and selecting mount USB from there, but still the same thing.
According to the manual it's supposed to work with USB cardreaders as well, I don't see why the galaxy wouldn't work.
Is there a way to ony share the SDcard and nothing else in case it really is a composite device?
I bought an official samsung accessory today (the microusb to female usb connector) and tried it out on the Note - when connected a notification pops, and even media scanner runs, but it's no where to be seen under usbstorage?
I tried the same thing on a SGS2 and it works fine.
If the media scanner runs, it should be mounted and appear at:
/sdcard/usbstorage/sda
I assume you are trying a USB stick that's formatted as FAT32. If you are connecting a hard drive, you may find that you have to use an external power supply for the hard disk drive.
i got an unofficial adaptor. 1st time I tried it, I got the connection status bar info & media scan but usbstorage/sda folder was present but empty (with a FAT32 flash drive that had several files & folders).
I disconnected then reconnected and my files showed up OK. It has worked consistantly thereafter.
Hi,
Since our beloved NEXUS S does not have a card reader and I take most of the pictures with our Panasonic Lumix camera, I was wondering , if there is a way (while traveling - not at home) to use a MicroUSB or Bluetooth SDCard reader to copy, crop, edit, share on social sites with the Nexus S, pictures just taken on my camera ?
Or is there a way of doing this that I did not think about ??
Thanks for the help
Max
As I know, Nexus S don't support usb host... so ignore usb readers.
May be you can try Eye-fi's wireless sdcard
OK , thanks for the suggestion !!!!
there's a custom kernel in the works that will support usb host on the nexus s!

I have a Samsung Nexus S (ICS, Kernel 2.0.8) and I followed the instructions of link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450298 in order to have access to the usb reader. Also, Nexus S has problem with usb OTG and I made my own cable as a person did in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23284398 (post #145). The phone works fine with the usb stick (see usb_stick.png) but not with the usb reader. In more details, the phone recognizes the usb reader on the 'Connected USB devices' on the USB Host Controller but it doesn't see the Mobile Security Card (G&D) or a simple MicroSD (see usb_reader.png) on the 'Connected mass storage devices' in order to mount the device. Do you have any idea what could be missing?

Hello, i've bought a galaxy note 5 a week ago. N920C, international version, Marshmallow 6.0.1, not rooted. I was able to get a 32gb variant only, i though that's not a problem, i will increase my storage via USB OTG with Micro SD card reader or USB Flash stick! Today i received all the parts, i've spent whole day trying to find out why it doesn't work, i've downloaded many apps to check OTG compatibility and driver condition. My device recognises the connection when i put in USB OTG cable only - when the screen is off, i connect OTG, screen lights up. Also throubleshooting apps say the same, the device knows when OTG is connected.
The occuring problem : when my phone is connected with OTG cable, i also connect my USB Flash stick / SD card reader / mouse / keyboard / another usb flash stick --> Nothing appears on the screen, file managers show nothing and the troubleshooter stops at recognised OTG cable. Other connection tests won't pass any further. Troubleshooter conclusion - "System NOT Detect USB OTG Signal"; (App name: USB OTG Checker).
After buying a decent high-end device i expect it to have availability to expand storage space via USB OTG, although it was written in phone's specification list. 90% of note 5 devices on the internet say it is working perfectly and i would like to get mine going too :|
Hi, all,
I bought a USB-C Hub with a SD Card Reader included. When I plug it into my Galaxy Tab S8 tablet, it can't recognise the SD Card (it just shows "charging USB device").
However, when I plug this same USB-C Hub into my Galaxy S21 Ultra phone, the phone can recognise the card reader and SD card and I can view the files.
I'm using the stock ROM on both the Tablet and the phone.
The Galaxy Tab information is:
- Model: SM-X700
- One UI ver 5.0
- Android 13
* I've tried turning on Developer Options and enabling USB Debugging Mode
Hope someone can share if they encountered this and if they found the a solution.
I connect hd 4 tera and is working.. I can't think any reason why sd wont.. If sd isn't fat32, try format it in fat32 just in case..
In Android developer options change Standard USB mode from charging to Transfer Files
Consult Google for how to enable developer options in Android settings.
I've just tested it and it appears to be a problem where the Galaxy Tab s8 won't recognise both an internal MicroSD Card and the USB-C Card reader at the same time.
If I unmount my existing internal Micro SD card, the tablet is able to recognise the memory card in the USB-C Card Reader.
Both micro SD cards are formatted to FAT32.
Seems other people are facing the same problem. A bit of a disappointment....
