I have installed the MotoFail Root and SafeStrap 1.07. I would like to install Eclipse V2.2 (so I can install CoreDroid).
If I wipe data, will that wipe my SafeStrap??
No. There's be no point to Safestrap if wiping data removed it. Safestrap is permanently installed until you either (1) Tell Safestrap to uninstall or (2) FXZ your phone back to factory.

I recently installed a custom ROM (liquid Gingerbread v3.0) onto my Droid 1. But in doing so I lost my root access, and now i can't use ROM Manager to either restore my backups or switch to a different ROM. Some apps say it appears that I have root access but none of the root apps work. I tried using super one click to "unroot" but that froze during step #6. I also tried using it to root and that also froze during step 6. I should also note that the power button on my phone is broke, thus preventing me from booting into recovery mode. What can I do????
I found a way to get into recovery, is there an easy way just to restore stock?

Back up and restore. Restore a backup

There's a chance that you may have accidentally denied root access. You could have opened the Superuser app that should have been included with your ROM to ensure that SU requests weren't being blocked that way.
Also, when in doubt learn to use Recovery mode manually. You can't always trust ROM Manager to do everything for you. Sounds like it's best to manually wipe everything you can and install the ROM fresh.
I installed the 5.0.2 CWM recovery to manually install the 4.0.4 update on my NexusS via Rom Manager application to avoid extra fuss since I will not be dealing anyway with custom roms, etc. Everything went fine with the update and indeed at every consequent reboot into recovery, the stock ICS appears meaning that it has overwritten CWM, as I wanted and as should happen when installed over stock rom.
However, in Rom Manager still shows "current cwm version 5.0.2" even after clear cache & data application and uninstall / reinstall. Should I try manual stock recovery reflash or hard work for free and the program is simply... stuck??
maybe you have a nexus s 4g and put just nexus s? (or vice-versa).
your phone is unlocked and rooted, correct?
•neXus•S4G•ĄØKP•Mïlestøne 4•Aïr Kerneł 3.7•
It's locked and has always been cuz I rooted the simple way - without unlocking...
I flashed the correct version since everything worked fine at all stages. It's just that indication in the app that put me in thoughts...
SOLVED: Problem was a leftover folder post app uninstall in sdcard named clockworkmod. Deleted and when reinstalled the app to check, it correctly reported that I must install CWM in order to flash and restore ROMs. Rest assured now that I am 4.0.4 stock
If i wanted to get the .905 update, i would have to revert back to my stock bionic backup (correct?). In restoring my stock backup or any backup for that matter do i need to wipe data or do anything else other than go into safestrap which i am using and hit restore? thanks
The 5.9.905 update will not initialize if it does not detect a stock 5.9.902 system, you can be rooted, however.
If you're on a previous leak like 5.9.904, you have to FXZ back to 5.9.902. If running a custom ROM on a 5.9.902 base, you can just nandroid back to stock.
Keep root with Voodoo OTA.
Trying to install safestrap so I can upgrade from my current .215 to .217. My phone was not rooted so I first ran the root utility from Fishbear and the app said it was successful in applying root. I downloaded superuser from the market, but it forecloses every time I open it. I tried clearing the data cache and also using the superuser update utility; didn't work. I re-ran Fishbear's root script and it exited with the confirmation that my device was already rooted, with super user version 3.0.3.2.
Any suggestions?

I tried migrating from .215 to .217 and the data partition was incompatible so I had a whole bunch of weird errors. I don't recommend doing a safestrap backup / restore for that version. Just wipe your data and fastboot .217. It will be a pain to upgrade but yuo will not regret it later.

Cool, thanks for the advice, but I'd rather have a deodexed/bloat removed ROM. I actually just restored my phone to defaults through the stock recovery menu and was able to get super user to work. From there I installed busybox and safestrap and got me some .217!
I finally got my phone rooted on lollipop. I want to install the xposed framework but all the instructions say backup your rom. I rooted using Deodexed_ROM but when I do home button, volume, power. I don't see an option to backup my rom. I'm also confused does titanium backup only backup apps or can in do a full system rom backup that I can restore from in case of a looping boot when flashing.
thanks
Because the bootloader is locked on AT&T S5's you can't install a custom recovery therefore you can't do a complete ROM backup. If you use Titanium, you will backup all your settings and apps for future updates. If you bootloop you have to reinstall the ROM that works for your model. Then use Titanium to reinstall everything back to the way you had it. Paid version is best for this.

Technically, you can install safestrap for a custom recovery, but you'd also need to flash the NCE kernel to boot into safestrap. But, you'll likely softbrick trying to get back into the operating system, or you'll get constant app crashes. That's why I don't do system backups on lollipop. It was a headache getting the phone back to the way was.
