Safe Flash GUIDE :
Ok guys n gals,
as you all know there where huge risks with the kernel and emmc chip in flashing this ICS firmwares on our note.
After intensive testing by me and Ficeto (who lost his note in the process) we have results that can go public.
Follow my guide to the letter or you could end up with root problems or roms not flashing properly.
My advise as a starting point is Gingerbread no matter what ROM or version.
Are you coming from an aosp ICS ROM or a build not by us then please proceed in flashing our AllianceROM N7000 GB 3.4 Resurrection ROM before the whole process. (check it here)
Once you run the ROM you will need to clear data via settings/applications /all/DarkyOTA and afterwards remove the DarkyOTA app from /system/app and download AllianceOTA app from the market.
If for some reason the app crashes afterwards then just uninstall it one more time and reinstall via the market.
When the app installed you need to open it and go to the ROM config tab.
Select in here whatever you want but be sure you TICK WIPE !!!
Now here is a step where you as a user need to make the choice what you want to use.
We need to flash a XXLPY repack via Odin, whether this is MobileOdin or the Odin i provide with the REPACK ROM does not matter (small Odin guide below, for mobile odin guide you will have to use google because i dont use this app) . Flashing with Odin via pc however , will raise the custom binnary counter but its a safe flash because the devices where meant to be flashed like this. In the download section off this post you will find Chainfires triangle away 1.51 which will clear both counter and triangle . So just flash via Odin
Once this ROM is booted you can check the stock samsung rom a bit if you want something to compare
When you are done , reboot in recovery via the three button combo , volume up + home + power and let go when you see the n7000 splash screen ... Now dont tempt to go wipe anything or think you need to have this or that wiped with every flash !!! Stop , Dont touch and quickly move on to choose zip from sd and just flash the rom.

Small Odin Guide:
Odin is a leaked flash utility by samsung.
In my oppinion this stays the safest way to flash your phone, my I9100 is currently at 114 odin flashes or something and my N7000 since last week on 86 Odin flashes. It will raise the counter but there is chainfires triangle(reset counter) app
So you have downloaded part 1 and are not sure how to flash via Odin.
Its quite a handy and easy utility.
Just unzip XXLPY_NoteCoreICS.zip to lets say the desktop.
In this zip you will find several files :
N7000XXLPY_n7000OXALPY-blablabla.tar
Odin3.ini
Odin3v1.87.exe
Q1_20110914_16GB.pit
Before starting its handy to know if you have the Samsung USB drivers installed.
If you have KIES running on your pc then you will have the drivers but need to be sure that you kill all processes related to kies in the taskmanager (kiestrayagent for example).
If you dont have the drivers just google em real quick they are widely spread over the net.
Now to start in Odin.. its real easy
Just double click Odin.exe to open the programm.
Boot your phone in download mode by holding down : volume down + home + power untill the phone reboots and you see the N7000 splash-screen, from there it should boot to download mode.
Once there just plug the phone via USB to your computer and Odin should verify by a yellow com box that the device is connected.
Then just add XXLPY to PDA and the pitfile at pit.

I've read the flashing instructions and am quite happy to follow them. but just a quick question, I'm running Cassies 2.9 rom with Franco v4 kernel so what would be the potential problem with wiping in cwm then flashing the rom?
Basically I'm just trying to get away from downgrading to gb then back to ics stock then to the alliancerom if i can

I can say im not 100 % sure thats why i advised to be on Gingerbread.
The flahsing process has been very random for me and Ficeto and he lost his Note in the process. How ever this way of flashing has been intensiely tested and mointored and this only shows good results.
You can try it if you want to and report back here if it worked out so i can update my OP.

franco#4 and #5 are the safer ones with the wipe bug code being removed. I have personally done many wipes on 4 and 5. but to be on the safer side . flash abyss4.2CWtouch reboot recovery,do wipe and then flash this.

I tried this method and the rom flashed with no problems. I can mount r/w in system-apps with root explorer and have changed my dpi to 240 with rom tool box.

should have no probs. the paranoid android uses a safe kernel and should have no probs with the wipes
flash this with no worries. i have flashed other roms from paranoid ROM using the CWM in the kernel provided without any issues
In the op images the battery icon appears blue but mine is green, could this be due to me changing to 240dpi?

I installed this ROM today. Look wise, its all same as in with 2.3.5 or any GB Stock ROMs.
But I'm really annoyed with the battery icon since GB 2.3.3, i felt too odd.

I don't know. However, it seems it doesn't support it since I couldn't find Arabic language in Locale and text settings.

After Odin says pass, remove your phone then, go to recovery mode and wipe data/do a factory reset. ANd then reboot your phone everything will be fine.

Can we use dta2sd script with this ROM... I have rooted my phone and installed CWM 5 thro odin.... dta2sd doesn't seem to work with this ROM or does it...?

no, dta2sd is for custom roms and it doesn't work in stock roms. It also requires init.d script support that is also not available in stock rom. So, only way to use a2sd is to use a2sd app from market or Install Manager Pro v3.2 or similar apps.

I have flashed this ROM (Official) and it is very good I must say.. till now using CM7 RC4 by squadzone .. can we use Link2sd if we have ext3 partition everytime I run link2sd it says script can not be mounted .. How to mount ext3 partition after boot.

I have this rom up and running since yesterday and I have the best impressions so far in the ICS "era". Fast, smooth, stable and with phenomenal battery life. I use it along with Nova launcher and my baby just flies! Everything works like a charm and I plan on staying long enough here unless Eliashadow comes up with something even better
I also installed Kalagas theme and know I see my Note on its best modded state ever been on its ICS history... needless to say that I tried almost anything out there!! Thank you Eliashadow, please keep it on!!!
@mamoo, yes mate go on with abyss via mobile odin, do the full wipes and then install zip from sd card... be a bit patient and you are good to go!!

Thanks man...now i'm on v7of cryskelo but i want to change it because i have problems when i make the call...it's blocking my phone and after 20-30seccond the phone make the call...hope there is no bugs in this rom

No bugs at all or drop calls whatsoever.. I have the feeling also that my calls speaker sounds even louder.. Maybe Eliashadow has included some tweak here as well

Flashing Instructions!
ROM IS NO WIPE, BUT IT IS ADVISED TO MAKE A FULL WIPE!
CWM flashable ROM - Take a nandroid backup before flashing! Make a full wipe with safe kernel! i.e, wipe data,cache & Dalivk Cache and then go to mounts & storage format data,cache & system and then mount /data before flashing!
ODIN ROM - It is no wipe, but follow the instructions carefully given below:
PC-ODIN
Unzip the .md5 format file and store on PC
Select PDA and then select the downloaded file
Make sure no re-parttion is checked and then select start!
Wait till the phone reboots!
MOBILE ODIN - ROM no wipe, but follow the instructions carefully given below:
MOBILE-ODIN
Unzip the downloaded file and extract it to either internal or external SD card on your phone!
Open Mobile ODIN and then select Open File
Select the file which is extracted
Select kernel and then select any of the kernels (CF ROOT-LRQ, Speedmod , Notecore & Hydracore)

Select everroot option and inject supersu

Thanks raghav...the ROM is pretty smooth...just finished the mod for crt-off enabled, SIP enabled ...now working on one percentage battery mod! Hpefully everything will be up in couple of hours...precise 5.30 Indian time (63% Uploaded)
with all respect, i don't think that such minor changes can be called custom roms as they barley are different from stock roms, i think a custom rom should offer major noticeable changes than a stock rom
like incorporating things that give a wow factor
What about just being thankful that somebody starts to modifiy the rom coming out today(!) - if the changes are to minor for you just don't flash it.

yes what you said is right...but after gadgetcheck left the note, then who is going to do the stock ROM with all the mods...so i thought let me release a base with all the tweaks, then in mods section, you will find the various mods which can be called custom ROM...you should ask the sammy to release the noticeable changes in the ROM, instead they releases the same 4.0.3 ROM with out any major changes in visual effects...so its up to you to flash my friend!
Forget to tell you my friend, i am not copying and adding here instead editing all the necessary files to include the mods from the scartch!

I did not understand my friend...but whatever rom you are , first flash the abyss 4.2, then full wipe and then flash the ROM...if you elobrate, then i will add the same in OP though

From ICS, first do root then flash abyss 4.2 and then enter to CWM recovery. Wipe data, cache, dalvik and flash the ROM. Once the ROM is up, first update the binaries of SU for full rooting. This is advice from grgsiocl but I suggest-from ICS-first flash GB, then enter in stock recovery-do full wipe and then flash ICS 4.0.4
From GB, wipe cache and dalvik cache(Full wipe recommended) and then flash this ROM.

CFroot new kernels with versions 5.6 and above are with brick bug removed....so no worries....I have personally tried several wipes with CFroot LRG kernel....Without any problem....

CM9 kernels are safe for wiping.....you can wipe data and install this rom straight....it should work....but for best results it is recommended to come from LRG rooted stock rom.....

CM9 kernels are safe for wiping.....you can wipe data and install this rom straight....it should work....but for best results it is recommended to come from LRG rooted stock rom.....

my recommend : flash custom rom only on 4.0.4 LRG. (any other way To Flash, This rom is your own risk)
because we deleted & Replaced many files of Stock rom And change a bit, the structure of Rom for decrease file size and increase speed
I believe people are referring to "Root Explorer" being the app you cannot have built into your rom because it is the paid app. Best to use ES file explorer or My Files.

Files required :
AllianceROM ODIN package. This contains the ROM amd ODIN . Be sure to use ODIN file from this package. Unpack contents of this file to a folder.
Pre-Installation Requirements:
Backup your data! Use an app like Titanium Backup, My Backup, App Saver, SMS Backup (to save SMS), etc.
Flashing the ROM:
1. Again, a reminder. Backup all your stuff before starting.
2. Now, turn off your phone by removing the battery and enter the Download mode by pressing the Vol DOWN+Home Key+the Power Button together. (Will bring up a screen saying 'Downloading'.)
3. Now, run ODIN and connect phone to the computer. ODIN will say 'Added'.
[/B]' and then select the following files in ODIN (from the folder you extracted the base package in):
PDA: AllianceROM_N7000_ICS_v2.1-ResurrectionEdition.tar
5. Press the Start button and wait for it to finish. Once it finishes, ODIN will look like this. Disconnect the phone from the computer after phone reboots.
6. After ODIN completes procedure and the phone reboots, a screen will come on the phone with 'Android system recovery <3e>' written at the top, and the following text will be written at the bottom:

You will have the yellow triangle on boot and some dont like it read this.....
Now for the pesky triangle on boot use chainfires handy app to remove it and clear the counter .

no this does not have all curreent fixes in like v2.2 but that can be flashed no wipe over this one.
it has the s3 launcher but i didnt fix s voice and didnt replace superuser with supersu yet .
im a bit limmitied ion my actions and i created this rom at home yesterday.
Cant make the odin rom quickl;y on this feckin windows pc

Nope this is 2.1 but will provide a cleaner flash for people coming from aosp roms or gingerbread
This ROM is just fantastic.. Just the type I was looking for. Testing out its battery to have my final verdict. Thanks a lot..

Follow the guide mate .
Downlosd rom customizer fom the market.
U will find tye lockscreen and settings for it in rom customizer / rom settings / lock chooser

From cwm v2.1 onluly stuff from /data right ?
Can one of u try downloading allianve ota from tye msrket . Then go to visuals and download one of the animations for examplesee if it works now and let me kniw if u had problems with it before

Will try that in a minute.
It seems I haven't fixed my root problems completly after all. (seemed I had partial root or something, could browse the root directory but couldn't mount as read/write).
I'll report back to you about the visuals.
Do you want me to test with Ficeto kernel or another one?

U have partial root with this rom or the cwm ?
And pls try with ficetos kernel first
