Flashing question (Coming from Desire HD) - HTC Sensation XL

Hey guys, I rooted my Sensation XL about a week ago and I tried to flash Sense 4 clock. I don't really want to flash any custom roms yet as I am still satisfied with ICS and Sense 3.6.
I am pretty much new to this situation as I came from Desire HD where flashing was simple, I have seen some posts saying that you need to flash a Chinese rom to flash another roms and so my question is, do you need to do same if you want to flash apks and simple mods.
Thanks in advance for the quick answer.

Bump, I am really curious about this and I couldn't find any informations about this on the forums.

The thing with the Chinese Rom and boot.IMG is because our SXL doesn't have s-off yet so we are just on an unlocked hboot so you needed the Chinese boot.img to flash other roms

Ive had two diffrent SXL's and never flashed the chineese boot.img before using custom roms

MIUI ROM

why is der no miui roms available for sensation xl ,when there are lots of them vailable for sensation xe....can i use xe roms on my xl...??
I'm looking for a miui rom as well! would be so cool, if they would develop it. but i guess the kernel is still the problem right?

The XE is a completely different phone to the XL. And before you will get MIUI you will need to get a working version of Cyanogenmod on first as that is what MIUI is based on. We might be able to port a version of MIUI over once we have the CM kernel...
Also this is the wrong forum to ask this question, should be in the General section

[ROM] Just some better base ROM

Working ICS stock ROM for the XL
IMPORTANT: The update script will automatically delete all caches and all user data!
<-- you should really read that!
BB_P33.zip RS FTP (Old Partition Layout)
BB_P34.zip RS FTP (New Partition Layout)
What ROM should I use?
- Is there an ICS hboot on your device? -> P34
- You've never flashed an ICS ROM using RUU -> P33
How to get root?
- install the BB_root.zip (after installing the rom)
- download the Superuser APP
Why the hell did you not root the ROM?
- It's a fixed stock ROM... How I see it, a rooted is not stock anymore
- Other developers might want an untouched version if they use this as base
Changes:
Nothing!
Did you read about the update script? ... Anyway, I told you

Nice to see you back!
This fixed all issues for the stock one?
Should be updating the base of mine later on today
Ahh the man who started the senseless is back. So can this base be used for further projects with your blessing of course. Be interesting to test the new partition layout but I guess I would have had to flash an official ics ruu to use that one. No official Europe ics update but should be in next few weeks. Is it rooted?

This is a new rom, 2.31.401.2 (HTC Europe), not the Asia one
I did not try it much, but everything should at least theoretically be working
EDIT:
@shingers5
No changes (but it's a HTC test build)
Awsome so we can have fully working ICS rom without updating hboot?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XL with Beats Audio X315e using Tapatalk 2
yes, it should work just fine with the old hboot
Does anyone have a mirror for these. Rapidshare gets blocked by the providor here

If you are going for a ROM that is rock stable with no bugs I will recommend you to use a ROM with sense 3.6 . there are plenty of them that are very good. Just look in dev section and read some of the posts to see what people say, starting with newest post .
If you want to over clock your CPU then go for lexmazters kernel but remember the higher you OC , phone will use more battery ofc. And the higher you oc is there a risk to get it more unstable but I have tried oc to 1.8 GHz and I did not feel it unstable at all.
Only thing is, a reboot once in a week was what I've got when running oc that high, but it was on an older version of lex kernel

Thanks mate for the answer. I found several but Musketeers seems to be fine to start with. And one more question?
Im using right now TWRP recovery. If i would go back to stock GB or ICS then i need to flash stock recovery right?
Where can i find stock recovery.img or just run stock RUU?

I see your device is s off so you only need to run the ruu.exe you like. There are plenty off them in dev section.

[Q] Custom ROM..yes or not?

hello guys, I'm a new user and my name is Adriano. I live in Rome.
I would like to know, from more experienced users than me, if I should install a custom rom, maybe that integrates sense 4, or is advisable to keep the official sense 3.6
In terms of browser performance and battery life would get some improvements with the custom rom?
I would be oriented to install the fshami's ROM , I read all the posts and it seems pretty stable and proven.
Tips?
Thanks in advance.
bye
AW: [Q] Custom ROM..yes or not?
I don't have that much experience as other users but since I'm using a custom ROM (for about a year) I recognized a better usage of battery and of course a big speed improvement. Our device is a lot better with them ROMs and we have good developers so I would try it

thank for your answer Rachorid,
I also think so, but I was considering installing a 3.6 ROM that perhaps it is more stable today than 4.0 and the battery drain should be better.
I thought of this: [ROM] [2201] XL 3.6 v1.9 [APM | EQS | More Languages | Tweaks | Mods | V6 Charged | Volume2Wake] by fshami
what do you think? I do not seem to have any bugs.
How do I install? Can proceed directly to version 1.9?
Thank you!
P.S. sorry for my poor english...
First you have to install custom recovery from here (CWM) or here (TWRP). If you already have a custom recovery then you can simply download and flash the rom you chose from recovery. There are many good guides here on xda. To flash recovery you can even use Lexmazter Multi Tool from here or Anders3408 AIO Tool from here. Big credits to both of them. Hope this helps

Root your device, Using HTCDev and flash TWRP (CWM dont work) then find supersu flashable zip then find a rom you like (Jelly suggest) CM10.1 or Codefire X and download gapps 4.2.2 then boot into recovery flash them, then go into bootloader select fastboot then plug into computer after that makesure you have android sdk downloaded, find adb and fastboot then hold shift and right click at same time (open command window here)
then fastboot flash boot boot.img from the roms zip and bam
