Hello im looking for some info with the optmius 2x (p990) and superoneclick rooting program.
They are-
ONE can you use this to "unlock" your phone? as in us it with diffrent carriers and what not?
Can you remove it if you want?
i have looked around but noting came up with the exact model and unlocking, im sorry i am quite new at the android scene but i do somewhat know the just of it.
No, ir does not unlock your phone. It gives you root permissions, it like administration permissions in windows, so you can install and do a bunch of stuff otherwise you wouldn't be able to.
I don't know how to unlock the phone but if it was easy to do I guess I'd already know

For unl**k all sim could probably work this way
try change rom with smartflash and replace file .ap e .cp and erase entire AP
(erase entire AP command delete all information imei etc ... to rewrite only imei. I have tested and work on p990 because for error I have press on erase AP : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20815755&postcount=26)
this program rewrite the file baseband (network) and get open market software
I'm not sure that it works, and not sure if it is legal!
For all I know, all Android devices are unlocked.
A friend of mine bought a Nexus S locked to a certain network provider in Portugal, got home and just stuck a Vodafone Portugal SIM card in and voilá!, worked without a problem.
Even if it wasn't this easy, you can always flash your BB to a open version, so I really don't see any issue for unlocking a device.
Don't forget: rooting and unlocking are two different things...

Hi,
i recently bought a new droid 3 from verizon i already sim unlocked it because i live in Europe.
but i'm totally new to the android system but i do know some things about it but is there a guide to help me started rooting and flashing?
or could someone tell me the basics in a nutshell?
my previous phone was a WinMo based phone and all you needed was sspl and you could flash custom roms.
how is it done for android? and what does it mean with fastboot, root? (i asume it is something like linux to be root user?) safeboot? bootstrap? and what is CM7 or CM9
P.S. i study electronics-informatics so you don't need to tell me what linux or windows is
thnx in advance
Can you tell me how you unlocked your phone???
To root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1240130
To flash ROMs install Safestrap from here
http://hash-of-codes.blogspot.com/p/android-downloads.html
Go to the android development section to find ROMs.
Liberty, ICS/CM9, MavRom, and SteelDroid are the most popular. Im using mavrom with ICS currently.
I definitely recommend looking into CM9. I just did a bunch of Googling on it today for my D3.
Now I'm running Ice Cream Sandwich and loving it. It's early yet and it has it's quirks, but overall I think it was worth it.

ooh but is there a way to brick the phone? cause it would be darn stupid to brick my 3 day old phone and send it back to america for repairs.
so just root the phone and install safestrap? no worries of bricking the phone? and are there other methods besides safestrap?
if yes what are the differences?
it all looks SO easy to flash roms for android ( in WinMo it was always wait and see) but then again it was Microsoft...
There is always a chance of bricking your phone but fortunately perma-bricking your phone while trying to flash new roms or using safestrap is almost impossible since you can still enter fastboot (m+powerup) from where you can install the stock sbf/rom
You can also flash using the 'old' bootstrap which basically removes your stock rom and flahes the new one.
Safestrap backs-up your old rom so you can try out another rom in another system/partition. Almost dualboot like except you can't reflash the original rom (yet)
Sry no links i'm on my droid3
"Almost dualboot like except you can't reflash the original rom" hey double, what do you mean by this. If you toggle safe system you can use your original ROM again. although i think im understanding wrong lol

You're right but you can't reflash your original rom (non-safe). E.g. i have mavrom as nonsafe/original and ics has safe..now if an update comes for mavrom i can't update it without uninstalling safestrap and going back to bootstrap
Oh I understand you now. And we got the same setup aha.

of what i read is that the MEID is a kind of IMEI number but because there are so many phones with an IMEI number that they needed something new but the unlock is (according what i found on google) always done with the IMEI number.
to what carrier is your phone locked to? and what is the exact type of your phone XT860 XT862? (you can find this in the "about" menu under settings.
maybe it is because my phone was brand new and never used.So it was never activated on the verizon network.
and i don't know if this has anything to do with it but on the box it says that the phone is "global ready".(I personally think it has nothing to do with that because if the phone is quadband it is ALWAYS global ready, if ofcourse the phone is not locked to verizon or some other carrier)
i have an alternative website but it is more expensive i thought it was 23 dollars or so. it first checks if they have an unlock code (never used the site but it looks promising)
sim-unlock.net/sim-lock/75/Unlock_for_any_New_Motorola_Defy_Flipout_Milestone/ (again put the http in front of it)
i hope this helps
I found this great forum a few days ago and after a lot of reading I have managed to root the phone and install a few apps.
I have also been able to backup my efs folder and edit the nv_data.bin file using a hex editor as per this thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761045.
However after changing the byte 01 to 00 at line 0018146 8 and reloading the file to my phone, it is still asking me for an unlock code
when I put a new sim card in. I have the Galaxy S running GingerBread 2.3.6, Baseband I9000 XXJW4. I have also tried the unlocker softwares posted elsewhere on the forum with no success. Is it possible that anyone can give me pointers on how to successfully unlock the phone please or suggest where I may be going wrong.
i don´t know, if i unterstood you right, but last year i got a new sim card, which is locked by a code by the provider (of course they told me this code). Every time i restart my phone (unless it´s in airplane mode) i have to tipe this code. So maybe in your case it is also the sim card, which is locken and not the phone..
Thanks for the quick reply, but it can't be the sim as it's on Pay As You Go in the U.K and so not a contract sim.
Did you try with Samsung Galaxy S Unlock Tool or SGS Unlock PRO?, it's on the play store i unlook mi phone with it.
Hi,
If i'm understanding you right you are asked for unlock code in the phone startup,
If that is the case i once experience the same problem with my phone and i fix it by typing the wrong codes some times untill the possible retryes are over after that my phone continue to load the OS and after that i never met the problem.
Regards,

Normal USIM unlock code is 0000, if failed you can try the unlock tools on MY android collections link below
Once again thanks for all the replies.
I have tried the 0000 code which failed with a message that network unlock was unsuccessful. I haven't tried any other code because of the 3 strikes and phone barred conditions.

I have also tried the 'Generate Windows Unlock' tool but it seems that the graphics card in both my laptop and desktop is not compatible with the software. I have also tried the SGS Unlock tool as well as the free one from Helroz but failed to unlock the phone. The tool from Helroz successfully changed the relevant bytes according to the software, but when I rebooted the phone it was stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S start screen so I had to re-flash the software and restore the backup of my efs folder.
I have not tried the paid for tool from the market as, being a 68yr old complete newbie to the smart phone era and not yet having a wireless router, I am unsure as to how to get it. To give you some idea of the leap I have made with this phone, which was given to me by my son who has now emigrated to Australia, my current phone is an old Nokia 5110 which I have used for around 12 years.
Thanks for your help and patience.
I have now managed to unlock the phone using SGS Unlock Pro with the generic unlock option, for some reason the Samsung unlock option kept crashing. Thanks for the tip with the Pro version of the software and it seems that I have a lot to learn regarding this phone, now for a different ringtone.:good:
Hello,
As said in another thread I'm trying to unlock my phone so I can use it with another SIM operator
I've tried that steps you get after typing the code *#197328640#
but at some point it says the menu is not avaiable and I can't finish the procedure
Probably because it is branded to portuguese optimus and not rooted
I've searched but can't find the files that match my CSC to do the root
So I think maybe the only solution is by code generated by IMEI
but all over the web they try to charge you
Is there someone who does it for free or some kind of calculator?
Thank you and I hope I'm not opening a repeated thread

There's no warranty it will work but I guess it's worth a try Found this on our big brother's forums, here you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1715149
Hi guys, I am having an issue i cant seem to resolve on my razr i. apologies if this has already been covered in another thread (or 10, which is usually the way with these things because nobody reads the other threads) I have been through a load of other threads but cannot seem to resolve my issue so i started my own.
Right, I have switched from iphone to razr and am not stupid when it comes to jailbreaking etc so thought rooting the razr wouldnt be a problem. when trying to root it it failed and i am stuck at the fastboot menu, however, everything on the menu is disabled so i cant use it. i get the usual message:
fastboot reason: flash failure
fastboot max download size: 100mb
usb connected
if i try to use anything on the menu i get the following message:
fastboot menu disabled.
my phone is not unlocked and not rooted. i have barely done anything to it other than install a couple of free apps. i am unable to progress past this screen. the phone is GB and is on 4.0.4
any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated. again, apologies if this has already been covered, none of the solutions i found were able to resolve my issue. as i said, i had no problems jailbreaking my old iphone, i am a bit of a n00b when it comes to droids...

Are you able to run fastboot commands ? Cause in that case you might be able To unlock bootloader and reflash the software .

I am not able to do anything. if i scroll to any of the options on the menu as soon as i hit the volume up key it just returns a message advising the fastboot menu is disabled.
**edit
ah commands not menu options. not sure how i go about doing that. i am 100% new to droid...

Had the same problem, I used the recommendation in this thread, 5th post and it worked, but afterwards need to re-download apps from PlayStore:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36612151
Follow the instructions exactly - you need the drivers and RSD lite on Windows PC, then connect the phone via usb cable that came with it; and you'll need a full unzip program (cost) so you can move the unzipped files into RSD lite. Get the right flash file though - there's a list in the linked post if you don't want GB retail which I used. Important: this only works for ICS 4.0.4 and don't try to downgrade to an earlier version than what's currently on your phone e.g. v.39 to v.31, for example.
Good luck.
AW: [Q] razr i problems - fastboot menu
If the solution from mervluk does not work (It didn't work for me either) , you should try if you are able to use the fast boot commands .
To do that simply connect your phone to the PC. Then download fast boot , if you do not already have that. It is in the .zip from the RAZR I root thread.
The go to the downloaded folder. There hold shift and perform a right mouse click. Then choose" start a command prompt here "or something similar (don't know how the option is called in English).
Then type in
fastboot reboot
When the phone reboots you might be able to unlock your phone and flash the software.
BUT BE AWARE! YOU WILL LOSE YOUR WARRANTY!!
So you better try the other solution first. This should be your last option.
If you don't know how to unlock the bootloader look in the RAZR I forum or pn me .

Glad about that. This phone can be a bit of a so-and-so. ics is being updated ota to Jelly Bean 4.1.2, which I've avoided so far to keep fm (although not activated on the supplied software). I did succeed with unlocking the bootloader (loose warranty - important) following the whole complicated procedure on Moto's website - but couldn't myself use the shortcuts on here. (Then had to set up again and re-download everything from the PlayStore). It required the Moto-supplied key. I then rooted, though I think the JB ota download unroots again? You can't use RSD lite with JB.
With JB the procedures are different, and a modified JB European (not for use with GB) firmware is now available on another thread which is impressing some posters. But I think just be a bit cautious as there does not appear to be any fix for the "service code corrupt" bootloader error yet. Looks like the options are very restricted whilst no-one understand the interaction between Google Android and the intel atom chipset.
I have a network unlock key from one of the commercial suppliers (cellunlocker.net), but haven't needed to try and use it yet!
I have just managed to root my old LG P880/4xHD using advice from this forum. Thought I would try on an old phone first. One reason I tried is because I cannot update Android via the usual About phone, Software updates, Check now for updates. The Android version installed is 4.0.3. I am in Australia and it is possible the phone is an overseas model (got it from a friend in LG). Has "Not for Resale" stamped inside the back cover. When I try to update Android, I get an error message "Registered Error - Your device is not registered yet." I had hoped rooting would get around this but it hasn't. Have looked up old forum posts and there is talk of using .kdz files and all sorts of other things. Can anyone help me get around this registration issue but please be aware I am a novice and most of the older posts I read, I couldn't understand so simple explanations please. Thanks.
What you have is developer or test device and it is a bit different from normal ones. Try googling more but you will have hard time....

Try flashing 4.12 with kdz. Google is your friend, try kdz flash 4.1.2 Optimus 4x hd.
Funny thing, when I bought my phone, only google asked me to register the phone, the usual Google Play thing. SO what do you exactly mean with REGISTER?
i think the whole phone isn't registred by LG for consumers, like dimi89 said it has to be a dev device. they aren't registred and cannot be updated/used the normal way. the serial number of this phone isn't present in the LG databases i think. Just flash kdz and everything is fine. You know that you don't get any support or warranty on that phone but you should know that.
