ICS/CM9 works extremely well on Milestone. But the one by kabaldan: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445209
Read first post, go to last page (or the one before last, there you can download newer files, a few pages back are also new google apps for ics).
As for hono - it is outdated and apparently buggy. CM7 RC2 is simply stunning. If you want it ics themed you can download theme from market and apply it using theme chooser. Hono used the one by Sonny Sekhon.
Regarding cm7 tweaks - it has ≈ just the right amount of tweaks to make it fast and stable.

Actually, the latest release by kabaldan (7.2.0 RC2) works great out of the box; there's no need for bizarre tweaks anymore. Try disabling JIT and Surface Dithering if you need more RAM.

I was using the last Cm9 nightly, but I have some problem to answer calls when the screen was on, and some problems with data.
So i decied to try the new version of Cm6. The last build is running much better, no bugs, and I'm using a ICS theme.
Try this.

Which rom is more stable for milestone ?

Hi guys am on cyanogenmod 7.1.2 and want to know is there any other rom more stable than this ? ...... How about miui because I love the ui of it ?...Does clockworkmod work with milestone ....................hey how do i change one rom to another , i mean should i flash the .sbf file all again and do all those stuff again ? thank you in advance for your time
Sent from my Milestone using xda premium
clockworkmod should work. just make a back up, wipe caches, and flash.
Miui has an excellent ui but randomly got stuck requiring a battery pull and didnt really work well for most games and google maps. Also, the battery life was terrible. Multiple charges a day terrible.
By far the best and most stable rom ive used is the peter alfonso 2.3.7 aosp rom. Its a blank slate with a really stable kernal. Since i switched to that I havent had a single problem and it runs buttery smooth. Hope that helps.

he is talking about the milestone and not the droid so beware cwm doesn't work use open recovery. Plus you cent change kernels on the milestone because of the locked bootloader.
The most stable ginger ROM I have used so far is cm7. If you want froyo roms you can try cm6 or the froyomod.
Miui is nice and pretty stable but you wont have a lot of free ran to ran heavy applications or multitasking.
If you are changing a ROM remember to wipe data + both of the caches

Thanks for the info, what I meant is now that am running on cm 7 if I want to switch to miui should I flash sbf file again and I don't want to root and do al those mod again ...... sorry am a newbie at this, thanks for your time
Sent from my Milestone using xda premium
If you are already on cm7 all you need is to do all the 3 wipes in openrecovery (data, devalik, cache) and apply the Miui update zip.
You don't need to reflash the sbf.

Well I don't think Milestone kernel can be changed, for it is signed by Motorola.
I remember there was a 2.6.35 kernel when cm6 came out, with some issues. But now I can't find it anymore. It was once kept on cyanogenmod4milestone Google Code page.
Can you give me the link to the rom you mentioned above ( Peter alfonso 2.3.7 aosp )

I've found nadblabak's / kabaldan's CM7 to be waaaaay more stable than Motorola's 2.1 - never ever had a crash with CM7, at least weakly with stock. Turned my old Milestone into a completely new phone (I've moved to CM9 pre-alpha now, it's way cooler and not necessarily unstable, but rather incomplete and generally unfinished)
I found out after using froyomod, cm6, cm7, miui, ho no, that ho no is the most stable, featured and fast at the same time. Using 7.1.2, dont know about newer releases

CM7 from Kabaldan works fine to me, and too much pretty with ICS theme.
HoNo
HoNO CM7 is pretty much stable and is fine for everyday use. Am testing the ICS CM9 alpha version right now. Its reasonably good considering its just in the alpha stage now. All thanks to the genius Kabaldan

Best Rom for Optimus Black; Discussions & Opinions

Hi just trying to get a clearer picture here, what would be the best/most stable rom for the OB? What is the most commonly used rom for OB? And does installing another rom screw up stock camera functions cos I do like the stock camera functions and capabilities.....
Thanks
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
There's basically three custom roms : NOVArom, PAY's rom and Cyanogenmod rom; and stock 2.2a/b/v/d... and leaked stock 2.3a
So, out of all these, the most stable, most battery friendly, most hard functioning rom with overclocking feature is NOVA rom v8. But only downside is it's froyo.
Now, if you want a highly advanced rom with countless possibilities of customizations; but can handle a few known audio and video bugs, the go for Cyanogenmod nightly.
Personally i am on Cyanogenmod kang by redy2006, and nova kernel. Audio bug is almost negligible for me, but 720p hd recording is not that much good here.
Pick what meets your need..
How much different would froyo on Nova rom be as opposed to stock gb I mean not in bits and bytes but overall user experience...
Cm audio bug what happens exactly? (skip, stutter etc)
Don't really care for 720video tho (hardly capture video but use alot of camera tho)
Basically I just wanna make my device perform at its peak and want it to be speedy and reliably stable (have alot of snap mins where I have to access my tools instantly)
Thanks in advance....
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
Oh it just bugs the hell out of me that my device could be much snappier & stable but currently capped and cluttered by useless stuff provided by carrier.... :/
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
Well, you can root it and remove a lot of those stock apps. I've removed about 35 apps, and none of those were from my carrier. Makes the phone a bit snappier, but the camera is and has always been rediciolusly slow. from i press the button to the processed image appears, it takes like 30 sec or something, dunno why, using V10e. Haven't tried NOVA or CM yet...
I thought abt doing that, but I've read somewhere that if I delete stock included apps from stock rom it might screw the os (much like if uninstall progs from windows )
Truth?

+1 great room
CM is indeed great, but it is still in nightlies.
i prefer a full working stable ROM and thus i use NOVA v8. it is stable even with 1.3 Ghz O/C with my black(i would sugghest NOT to try this...very few of the blacks can actually be stable at 1.3, most of them max out at 1.2,1.25 Ghz)...the conclusion is u can stay stock(almost) but with various tweaks which will get the best out of your black...
but what is good for you is for u to decide. like, few days ago, i thought of getting a total ICS overhaul of my black. so, i installed a CM7 nightly amd tweaked it to my hearts content. ICS wallpapes,ICS theme, animations,Lockscreen,Music, even the ICS outlines SWYPE!!!...used it for a few days, got bored and flashed back the NOVA backup.
try the ROMs available, use it for some days to get a "backup-able" stable image and then switch over from one to another.
i have a CWM backup f NOVA8, stock10g and the CM#20 nightly builds....and each of them are stable, has my applications installed
hope i helped
As soon as CM7 or CM9 for that matter is released as stable, i'll switch to it right away, no matter which official version LG can offer. I'm so jealous of all the cool available mods/themes for CM. For me using them on stock rom, it's a whole lot of work, and will only partially apply. LG roms seems so sensitive to changes as well, probably due to their implementation of OEM bloatware into Android roms. And don't you guys hate all the use of blue/cyan colors all over the menus, windows, buttons etc? It's so butt ugly, especially the speech bubbles in the default sms app...

i have most of these craps deleted. feels SOOO childish!!!!...u cannot expect 2 have such colorful and weirdly "girly" kind of UI on such a mature and sleek looking hardware....i even deleted the lg msg, dialer, home, gallery, bla bla bla and went in for a complete GO!(launcher, locker, dialer, contacts, widgets, etc etc) for my black. now i have a "blackish-blue" kind of galactic theme for most of the GO!offerings and my cell looks to be dressed to kill

Temasek's Kang features

I see lots on folks using Temasek's Kang . Could we have reviews ,screen shots & videos of this Kang , highlighting differences between TK and CWM . Temasek has listed out detailed release changes on his thread . But a high level feature list would be useful for folks starting on a Kang diet . ( Me included)
Also can I install Temasek's Kang on top of CM 204 nightly ( without deleting data).
Yes u can install latest kang over nightly 204.
For a detail list, you need to read my changelogs. I do keep a long list of different builds changelogs. Some changelogs have pictures of major features.
Highest downloads of my kang was around 2500 +++. So basically that perhaps the number of users using kangs.
Just flash it over 204. ICS rotation animation alone is cool enough to give you the reason to use it

You do not need ADW or any third party app to see it.
Go to Settings > Display > Animation. And make sure "All animations" is checked.

No - you should see them when opening/closing apps etc. Not that spectacular.
But the ICS rotation animation is great - you'll see it when switching to landscape/portrait mode - in older days the screen would just "update" - now it has a nice turning animation.
Maybe i'm just used to it by now - being on this awesome KANG
Stupid question, well I'm new O2X user .. I'm now using CM7 and want to try Kang 63. Do I need to flash stock ROM first? or just flash the Kang (using CWM)?
Any help would be appreciated Thanks!
Just flash it over your older CM7 no return to stock needed.
So, is this finally the most stable and valuable rom available? Already tried some, but they always had some problems with stability, speed and/or battery.

It really is good! Stable as stone.
I flashed my wife's o2x with this rom 4 days ago, so far no complaint from her and she really impressed with the smoothness of the UI and camera function.
However, my OB p970 do not hv market after flashing his p970 rom..
If i flash temaseks CM7 over CM7 nightliest, do i need to wipe my data or cache and dalvik cache is enough?

Ahh really stable indeed (for now), thanks for the tips!
The only thing I find annoying, is the (little bit) stutter scrolling... I actually had this problem with all the cyanogenmods. Am I doing something wrong crucially? :S I am using the default kernels coming with the roms, ril/baseband 725 (which shouldn't be the cause I think?) and I am not doing strange customizations... Also tried all the 4 scrolling-cache options but doesn't matter.
Someone knows what I am doing wrong? Or is it just me and my perfectionistic eyes who need 60 fps animations?
Thanks!

[Q] Recommend me a ROM please

Hi there.
I'm new here and new to the Android platform aswell. I recently bought a Galaxy Mini GT-5570B. I run Gingerbread 2.3.4 on a stock rom (JJKQ5). I just rooted it using this guide: (THANKS!!)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576202
Now, I'm looking to apply a ROM. I want the most stable one, which has only the very basic stuff. I want my phone to run as fast as possible with at least bugs or crashes. After reading a bit, I found out (correct me if I'm wrong) that CM7 is the best one to suit me.
However, I still don't know which to apply!
I found 3 topics that I think are the best, but I still don't know which of them is stable or the fastest.

Also, a very simple guide to apply it would be cool
As far as I understand, all I need to do is install ClockworkMod and just boot into it and install from SD, just like I applied my root. Is this correct?
Sorry for these nab questions, I know you probably heard it a few times (Tried searching for a similar topic, couldn't find anything that satisfies me).
Thanks for any help!

Hi. Yeah the people who are longer active here have heard these question a lot. But everybody here was a beginner so thats no problem.
You did some search yourself so you have already read the most.
All you have to do is flash cwm via odin. There is an older one 4.0.0.5 or a newer 5.x.x.x. I recommend you the older one.
After that you can use cwm and install custom roms. There are plenty you can choose of. As I used a mini my favorite was the cyanogenmod from mebitek. Try the last version or the one before.
Good luck.

Yes, that's my pick also, there are two builds from pure CM based on Mebitek's (The galaxymini and the nightly (I guess weekly now ;-) )
I installed the latest weekly on top of the Galaxymini (that hasn't been updated since march 18) using the deodexed version without wiping data and it's working great. You may try the odexed version for space and maybe bit more speed but believe me, this is the smoothest ROM I've tried (Used squadzone's, chocobread, emanon, more, etc.) but this one hasn't crashed a single time. I use Overclock to 729 + slaidyboost and WOW, great ROM. Battery is not that bad as it can last as much as stock (maybe even a bit more).

This rom does not come with that theme, I only took the screenshot to show it works
-Apply theme components (Icons..) separately.
-When applying icons, the manager will force quit before 100%, it doesn't matter, the icons are still applied.
-After applying a new theme, restart fully for it to take effect (Maybe miuihome just needs to be relaunched, either way.)
IE: All FCs are non-function impairing at this point, just annoying and VERY rare outside of certain things, like icons.
There are no FCs outside of the first MIUIhome FC on boot, and in the mentioned sections of Theme Manager.

have you been working with smartguy044 on this? he too is working on a build, he has it at 98% functional.
Nice ROM. Really smooth. Had multiple miui home fc. Installed mihome from app store seems to work really well. Keep up the good work.

Miui has Google apps by default? Right

I flashed just the ROM the first time and don't think it had gapps. Had a lot of issues so I factory reset and flashed ROM and gapps formula 84. Seems to work well.

I haven't been, I'm not sure what base he's using but I know he'll release a quality rom when his build is ready.
This build is just an alpha for observation purposes even though it is functional somewhat, right now I'm working with the galaxy W folks and there is a lot of communication going back & forth and the base I'll be using will most likely be 2.11.30, because the code is cleaner and It is a more stable release in general.
Give me an hour or so and I'll compile a .30 build to throw up here, If everything goes well
Edit: Believe G-apps was removed by default w/ MIUI
911 should work, shouldn't it. If its based off the latest cm10

This build is broken in 3 major ways, because it is an alpha
- Miuihome port is borked for icon refreshes (this includes installing from the app store)
- No GPS
- No USB storage
So any action you cause that updates 'home' will cause a force-quit in terms of 'new' icons.
If people want to use MIUI the best version for stability is ICS based at least for a little longer.
Smartguy you should post your JB publicly so folks can debug it, I can understand if you don't want to because It's not 'complete' but does it really matter as long as it gets finished somehow

What do you mean? I just posted a link earlier in this topic linking to the new home of MIUI JB, It's not discontinued but GPS is currently broken because the location service seems hardwired to use Baidu; there's nothing I can do about it right now.
Can a mod please delete this thread
