[Q] Best rom/kernel combination (ICS) ?? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Did'nt find a thread about this, so, what do you use? And why is it the "best"?

Try it yourself, only you can determined what's the best for you needs.

Not everbody has the same needs.
But to give a answer: RocketRom V4.1 + Speedmod K3-3 kernel.
Why? Battery life is very good and less lag of all ROMs that I used, not many though.

[Q] Can I OC/UV with Darky's Rom 9.5 ?

Hey guys, I got my new Galaxy S two days ago, already optimised it and installed the new Darky's Extreme Edition 9.5 custom rom. Now I want to undervolt and maybe overclock my SGS. Is this possible with this custom rom ? Do I need a special kernel or can I just use apps like setcpu or voltagecontrol ?
greetings, Sir Kasimir
Probably but yet again you need to ask Darky .
jje
I think that you can't OC on darky's rom. I know that it is available in ultimate rom but for darky I'm not sure.

Possible on every ROM.
You just need a kernel which is capable of OC/UV and app to control it.
Ok, thanks for the reply.
That means I can use a different kernel with this rom right ? Now I need to know what the Dark Core Kernel does and what the advantages/disadvantages of the different kernels are.
Search xda and decide what kernel suits you best

[Q] Insanity cm 041

Hi,
Just flashed to insanity 041 with semaphore and stock 2.3.5... JVS...
Having really poor battery performance... I've since read the Stock kernel is performing better...
Can anyone advise whether this is the case or if there is better option?...
Also, can't find any links to Stock 2.3.5 kernel, can anyone point me in the right direction?...
Thanks
Stock jvs kernel with cm7????
You need to check the cm7 thread for stock kernel - it is NOT jvs though!

You are already on the stock kernel! Poor battery life is the reality of cm based roms but they are getting better. Give it a couple of chargingcycles and it will improve. You can also try Pimp my Cpu and undervolt some.

[Q] ROM with long battery life

Hi,
I don't know much about ROM's and stuff, but I would really like a ROM/kernel/modem or whatsoever with a long battery life!
What is the ROM with the best battery life?
Thanks in advance!
Try F4k's V4 with Semaphore 1.2.2s (not the latest one).

the great thing here is: you can try different kernels and change them very easy with aroma-installer.
general you have to try different cpu-governors in the kernel-settings. what i think is, that semaphore-kernel was principial developped for long battery live. but to find the right settings is very important. and to find the right modem is also important. again: in roms with aroma-installer (tiramislim, slim ics) you can change them eysy after flashing. good luck!
You can also try Slim ICS + semaphore kernel.

DarkyROM
All versions of DarkyROM have incredible battery life.

ParanoidAndroid V0.5. As stable as it can get. Have been using it from 2 months. Not a problem. *touch wood* LOL
I'm on "The Classic Rom" after Criskello has seized supporting his ROM. The Classic ROM is super stable coupled with the HydraCore kernel.

I don't suggest any ROM until you really tried one for yourself. What might work for others might NOT necessarily work for you...
So it's better you have to really try one (by flashing it), or look it up on each ROM threads you can find here on this forum.
Again, different strokes for different folks... Trust and rely yourself more than just taking the words of other people... Try to flash each ROM you like until you'll settle down to the one that really suits your liking....
Cm9 for raw power or cleanote if you still want tw stock

If you go for cm9 based roms remember that you won't get smemo, snote
I am using RocketROM v.11 with SpeedMod Kernel k3-13.
This combination runs pretty smooth and no any reboot needed.
I am using my GN for business with no game at all, so I am not chasing for top speed.
Hope this could give you some hints.

[Q] Safest-best- kernel+rom for note gt-n7000?

Hello. i want to sure not to mess with my father's not rooted galaxy note gt-n7000 so my questoin maybe lame but i had a bad experience rooting gs2 and without
i need to know what is the best and the safest kernel for the note. and best custom rom 4.1.2 based on touchwiz
i alredy downloaded Kernel_CM10.1_20130320_n7000_CWM.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1789397 this will work fine ?
Thank you
If you flash that kernel you will have boot loop for sure that is a cm10.1 ROM kernel not touchwiz. And you have to be rooted to flash. I don't mess with toichwiz to much I use a cm10.1 ROM I build my self and theme my self but in the terms of kernels for touchwiz look into philz kernels they are safe and I do believe they can be flashed from stock recovery and will root the phone. As for ROMs they are all safe. JUST DONT FLASH ANY ROMS FROM STOCK ICS KERNELS. and also if you look into the how to root part of the ROM forum you will find a lot of info. Then just research the different ROMs to see which one is right for your use.

thanks for the info.. :good: ill do more reading .. i dont wanna mess things up..
hope PhilZ Touch will do the work
for TW JB there are only 2 kernels .. .Philz and Speedmod JB
Go for Philz, Best one (My experience) You will get good benchmark results, better battery life. Good rooted phone.

Yeah, for TW JB the best option is Philz kernel and Speedmod kernel. I myself prefer Philz Kernel. Suit yourself with one of both of them..
Any recommendations regarding custom rom? Touchwiz with good battery life 4.1.2
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
You would have to try them your self, all Rome differ and also depends on your use but tw in general is not to battery friendly IMO that's why I use cm ROMs very battery friendly

i recommend JonROM, It's very smooth and fast (no laggy), It's also has good battery life, using it with speedmod kernel to get the best performance.
