[Q] Theming Power Control Widget Gingerbread

I can't seem to theme the power control widget in CM7. I had everything working in CM6. Any help? Please and thank you.

The problem is nothing is changing. I metamorphed the system.apk.

Hi there. I understand your frustration with this, as I ran into this the first time I ported my theme to a Gingerbread rom. 90% of the status bar and pull down notification bar icons are handled in a differently way with 2.3. You'll find these in the SystemUI.apk. Res / drawable hdpi. While at first these seems crazy, it does offer some other bonuses, like being able to change the clock, data, and Clear button text colors via an XML in there as opposed to having to mess with the services.jar. Anyway, hope this helps.

Thanks but I already did all that. I'm trying to theme the Power Control Widget.

Isn't the power control widget files in settings.apk? (well it is on cm7). Mine themes fine. (not metamorphing though, just flashable zips)

If like me, you like a clean uncluttered look to your MIUI phone you might like this MOD.
1.7.15 sees a major update to this MOD. Alongside the options to enable you to Hide/Unhide the Status Bar Clock, the Battery Icon the Carrier and the Debugging Icon, you now have the option to specify your own custom carrier text and the date formats you'd like to see on the Notification Drop Down and the lockscreen.
So lets say you want the date to appear on the drop down as "Jul 16, 2011 10:21AM" but don't want a date to appear at all on the locksceen, you'd enter :-
MMM d, yyyy h:mma (as the Notification Format) and leave the lockscreen format blank.
**Please be aware that if you specify an invalid date format the status bar will FC. I only found this out this morning. I'll try to add error checking for the next realease** YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED )

As with all MODS there is no guarantee it'll work with all phones.(I only have a Galaxy S)
so please take a Nandroid backup before applying this.

Go to settings, at the top click "system" then go to date and time settings and you'll see right above use 24 hour format there's another option for carrier and status bar settings. I used it and it works great, other than the signal bars drop to zero even though I have service.

I flashed the mod this morning, to get rid of the damn carrier name (bugged me)... and have been looking forever for the settings. Damn I feel dumb for missing them...hahaha... Thanks!!

Can you guys confirm the signal bars issue? There was another user on the miui forums that said his signal bars disappeared, as did mine.

I get no signal too. Isn't there a way to edit the carrier name in the SystemUI apk once its decompiled? I'll try to find it tomorrow...

Droid 3 png loations

Making this thread for people that are trying to do some subtle self theming on their own, without a ROM. (There really isn't a whole lot of themed ROMS out anyways, monsteRom is the only one i think.) you can find monsterROM in the general section.
Anyways let's say you are using ninjamorph and you want to change the 3g icon on your droid 3 but can't find it. come here post what you need someone may help.
lol i made this for a second reason also. i can't find notification bar is it under blur-res.apk? can't find it for the life of me

All that stuff is split between freamework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk.

I'm experimenting with some theming, I cooked up one in the uot kitchen but not all the changes seemed to work. Some the signal bar indicator didn't change and the text colour for notification items(all other text colours changed) also the background in the pull down curtain. I found the icons, and the new icons are in there, but don't show on the phone. How do I make them the default icons? Also if anyone knows which XML sets the text colour and how I can fix the background it would be appreciated.

As for changing the icons just editing them should work. Are you using ninja morph? And what do you mean "fix the background"

So I want a combined menu bar at the bottom with the buttons. I don't want a new rom, I don't want a new kernel, and yes, I have a locked bootloader.
I am however willing to flash zips and replace system apps.

Well, it's certainly possible to have the icons, etc in the statusbar in the navbar. In theory, at least.
But you'll need to do some smali editing, I would have thought, to get the rest of the mod. You need to remove the statusbar entirely and have the pulldown screen appear when you swipe up from the navbar.
I know nothing about smali sadly, but it's certainly theoretically possible.

search for a launcher
u can do this;
use another launcher
hide notification bar
and add icon of activities that u need in a page of dock
Or search for small app that gives u some setting

I've been searching as well. I'd really like to get rid of bluetooth, NFC, and the alarm icon.

Exactly the icons I want to remove.

In the past it was possible by editing some of the framework files to remove the icons completely from the library. Finding them can be somewhat time consuming. I'll look into it ... I've promised I'd look into a couple things and just haven't had time yet, busy time of year at work and the desire to get outside before the true summer heat hits has been strong ... but I will get there.

this thread shows you how to get rid of the NFC icon. I'd guess that others can be removed in the same manner

I'm not sure if there are options for the other icons in the CSC file. On other galaxy devices you needed to literally edit the framework files because the icons were hard-coded in there.
Great find though, CSC tweaks are always helpful and everyone should be able to do them.

Yeah, kind of sucks. It hasn't been updated since last year. It used to work great and even allowed different profiles that could be changed with Tasker.

How about hiding the whole status bar? Lol. so you don't see it unless you swipe down. you might need another launcher. Don't know if with touch wiz you can do that.

Touchwiz launcher won't do that but you can do that with a third-party launcher like Nova for example. Another third-party launcher I really like is action launcher 3.

Nova launcher can hide the notification bar. its a great launcher

Dying to get rid of the Verizon in the status bar!
I used the csc mod to rid myself of the NFC icon.
