Slim Bean was fully compiled from AOSP source, as per Slim Bean OP by Dev mnazim.

Both, CM and AOKP (as most of the ROMs) are AOSP based, they differ mostly in the configuration options. I personally prefer AOKP, but there are no "original" and "official" builds out now. So i use the AOKP beast ROM - i only deleted the Sony widgets because they have too much rights (paranoia me), they had rights for everything.
And if you ask for "smooth": 4.2 ROMs are smoother for me than the 4.1 ones because Google did some optimizations on this. And i prefer the 4.2.2 versions, because the first 4.2 releases had some bugs that Google fixed in 4.2.2.
Pure AOSP is the best and stable starting point.

Atleast one with a good battery life ? In the current cm10.1, battery jumps from 100 to 68% in no time.

Also, DerTeufel's said that once CM's implemented 4.3 for the I9000 there'll be a build from him as well
