I mean really hot! Normal usage is ok but when I play games or use web browser for half an hour, it turns hot (back and front, lower body). Does anyone have the same problem?
Another thing is the charging time is too long!
Here are the answers from other forum:
Yes the liquid tends to warm up at the lower back half and once that happens, theres no way you can recharge it till it cools down. Feedback from acer engineers theres a temp sensor right behind the battery and if the temp goes above 40c...it'll stop charging. I think that maybe is one of the reason Acer didnt really launch this model worldwide?

Phones with Snapdragon chips in them get warm. The Desire does it; the Nexus does it. I wouldn't worry. My nexus takes about two hours to charger to full.

I have the same problem, its very hot, im worried for the health of cpu and battery..
At least for the charging troubles, using setcpu I defined to run at 500 (around) MHZ when on charge and no overheating then, plugged from evening till morning or using gps for 2,30 hrs with charge connected. It stills warm but no overheating... Tips from EvIl rom, not mine
The lower part is where the CPU is, battery heat would be from the upper back part. Also computer USB charging is slower than wall socket charging.
Hi all, i have stock v10b ROM with no ROOT or custom kernel. My mobile is not restarting and its not heating while charging, its heating just when i play for e.g. Dungeon Defenders for 5 minutes. Is it normal ? My phone never restarted yet but i have it jst for 4 days...
No worry, its absolutely fine. Your are not alone. Jonny walker, keep walking.
Even thought the battery caution shows: Do not exceed 40Degree Celsius. Just that you will smell the smell of 'burned' lithium when you open your battery cover.
Wahaha
After my exam, I'm going back to LG with the smell and get a new set perhaps? Hehehe

It depends on what you are talking about.
It is perfectly normal, that electronic compnents produce heat when operating. More work produces more heat. So if you play some graphically intensive games you should expect, that the phone will produce some heat.
Its ok it will heat, but after 5 minutes it is bad, i had overclocked SE X10i played this game for 3 hours and it was cold as ice... :/
That heat come from Camera or near camera my battery always got about 29-36°C
OK, my question is, if i flash undervolt kernel, can it help ? And then , i need to know how to flash back to stock, Is LG updater enough ? Or i need to flash it any special way ? If yes please give me link ^_^
lol 29-36 deg is normal.
my galaxy tab also heats up while charging.
it is normal for phones to heat up when your doing something like browsing and gaming.
and i used to have x10i also. that one has a serious overheating problem. i can't charge it during the day cause it heats up too much, the phone freezes while charging.
i reduced the overheating by using a charger that has less Output voltage;
the one that come with the box has 7+ Voltage output, i am now using a charger that has an output of 5.1V ( i got the 5.1v charger from my optimus one)
i don't know if this can damage your battery but you can also charge on your pc using the usb cable. it charge your phone slow but does not overheat it.

I don't think so it help. Under voltage affect the performance(I assume) too. The heat is not because the 'nvdia' it flaunting its power. Its because of the battery...
All i can hope is the 2.3 update... If nothing changes, i'm gonna sell this on ebay for 100usd... starting bid 1$ ==
But that super heat come from area around Camera, there somewhere suppose to be a processor i think... I think im gonna try this kernel, just need to know how to get it back to stock, so i can use warrancy when needed...
50deg? Im surprised it did not melt your phone. Lol! I have been playing lots of gameloft and tegra exclusive games but mine never overheat beyond 38deg. Use your warranty.

my friends 2x got to around 39 degrees when we were just surfing the net in 3g, thought its about 28 degrees outside as well... you think its normal ?
hes gonna play an HD movie and see if the temp is not too bad later on
LOL anything below 45 degress is fine.
46 above can shorten your battery life.
50 above can damage your battery and your system after prolonged use.
and its perfectly normal for phones to heat up while using 3G.
all my previous phones heat up while on 3G browsing.
Ill try to use my warrancy when ill have time, than ill share my experience , bcuz i bought it from Samsung CZ....
I have tried custom kernel, its still the same but my phone is now laggy at all, when i turn on screedn it takes about 5 seconds, and starting apps is really bad too, please help me how to revert it back to stock...
Over night I left my phone on the loading cable... when I woke up this morning I noticed that my phone was extreeeme hot and had a black screen of death..when I booted up I saw that the clock settings were set up to 1,4ghz although I set it to 1ghz the evening before...I just uninstalled pimp my cpu now and have no overheating issues till now. I was really scared and thought that my phone just melted inside ..

if i were you (or any1 else to be honest) i would not even try to overclock this phone for 2 simple reasons:
1) as aremcee has said, the hack used to overclock the tegra 2 is just really dirty, he doesnt approove it, and as he is one hell of a smart guy, i have to agree with him.
2) why the hell would you need to overclock it if its already lightning fast. only for benchmark whores imo. i mean this is no optimus one which has a 600 mhz cpu. that one you would like to OC, to see some improovements lol, but not this thing.
I agree, my phone is still fast and i underclocked it on 900MHz but, starting apps , and starting screens takes about 5 seconds, and its pretty much so i all time think about its Dead or Its going to restart, ill try custom rom with underclock. BUT noone said me HOW THE HELL I CAN REVERT BACK TO STOCK KERNEL ? I ask this about 4th time...

I have this problem too...
I must admit the phone does get a little hot after a short period of usage.
However I think the reason for this being: the phone is waterproof.
This is just an speculation:
I assume that when making a device waterproof they use rubber parts inside so no water can get near the motherboard and such.
I also think that sealing the phone in such way causes the heat that builds up inside can go nowhere.
This casuing the device to heat up more fast and cool down less fast.
Again, this is just a speculation.
Kind regards, Stefan.

That is not a question for XDA, that is a question for your dealer.
Maybe you can try washing it to rinse the heat away?

The phone heats up because it's Water proof? Seriously these are the kind of answers people are giving on xda these days? Haha. No.
My phone charges fine on AC and doesn't get hot at all it only gets warm on charger.
Get replacement.
I have the same issue. After spending all night on the charger, the battery was only at 63% and the phone was very hot. I shutdown and restarted, and the phone charged quickly and became cool. The cause seems simple - some process or app is consuming CPU cycles and draining the battery as fast as it can be charged. After restart, the rogue app was stopped and the phone behaves normally again.
I have a suspicion that it's something to do with Throw/Sharing as the devices process seems to be using the largest proportion of battery. I'll keep an eye on this.

I think his point is the unit is airtight "waterproof" and no air circulation compared to other phone thus heat accumulate faster.

The idea that there's room inside any smartphone or tablet for air to circulate, is pretty wild. Rather than convection, phone chipsets are cooled via software (controlling clock speeds), conduction and a little radiation.

Flash memory is actually quite resistant to heat, and the amount of heat generated by your phone shouldn't be enough to kill it. Take your card out and clean the golden fingers (contacts) with a pencil eraser or rubbing alcohol to see if it's a contact problem. Heat may have accelerated corrosion on the gold plated contacts, but that's just an extreme scenario. If this doesn't work, your card is probably dead if you can't format it or find it under disk management...

Heating up at the top area is normal, especially under warmer climates. As glass is a better conductor of heat than plastic, it's actually helping to dissipate the heat faster.
As for your battery life, 4hrs seems pathetic, unless it was under continuous nonstop use with screen on and performing battery eating tasks. It should survive for ~5hrs under continuous, intensive use. Ymmv, of course, depending on other factors such as screen brightness/network type/signal strength/WiFi...

Worse thing is playing a game for 20mins then getting a call.
Hope the heat doesn't give me a tumor.
First of all, using the phone while charging will obviously make it heat up like hell. Please be aware of that, and that its not recommended to do so.
Secondly, for the guy whose battery was draining while charging via USB, the USB port might not be feeding up all the milliamps the Xperia Z needs to be charged. Try with a USB 3.0 port or make sure you're using a port that provides more than the standard 500ma a USB 2.0 port provides.
@off
If you think the Xperia Z heats up, this is because you've never used an Sony Ericsson Satio.

It wont decrease battery life.
The only way the battery could be hindered via charging is if you do it for extended periods of time.
For example more than 10 hours isnt good.

Yeah. I've read up on this stuff. More than 10 hours is called Overcharging. It's unhealthy for the battery and for the phone itself
The normal charge is just plugging it at any time and plug it out at any time.
And then there is healthy charge. You need to do this once a month or two.
Let the battery fall below 20-15 percent and then charge it up all the way to 100.
Also keeping it plugged in at 100% isn't recommended because we don't have smart charge (which basicly cuts of the power from the charger to the motherboard at 100% to prevent wear and tear like in some new high end devices)
Hope you find this interesting :3
Thank you. I will do some research on this myself too..
Maybe add it to the get started guide? ;3
so charge for a short time doesn't decrease the battery?
ex: charge from 30% to 50% is not wrong?

If you sleep less than 10 hours than its good. I do that when I go to school.
More than 10 is not healthy.
this becomes a problem esp if u use usb tethering
Modern firmware stops charging the phone when it's full, drains it a bit, and then will not send any juice to the battery anymore- it's pretty much impossible to overcharge unless you've corrupted or hacked out that bit of the firmware or you're overamping to begin with- or the phone and its firmware are poorly designed or executed.
This is also why your phone drops from 100 to 95% so fast when you start using it- it wasn't at 100% when it stopped charging; the firmware lies to you so you don't get mad and try to overcharge and destroy your battery or call customer service because it won't go above ~98%
Well then, I've had this phone for over a year and always charge it over the night (way over 10hours :I)

hi guys, my problem is when i charge my phone on fast charging using original charging adapter it shows (fast charging for only 10-15m) after that it turns to cable charging and I'm still on Oreo no root, is that a hardware issue?
tried:
- cleaning the charging port
- factory reset
- flashing a new firmware
- tried another adapter and cable.
any suggestions? thank you
Maybe temps are to hot so it switches down to a less heating method for battery protection ...in the summer the fast recharging often doesn't work because temps are to high. To be sure, you can even try another cable (because adapters give rarely these problems but cables often get broken inside for bending them or the USBs plugs get worn for using it) when having the problem and if the result is the same, the reason is the one I explained. This thing happens even to other models so I don't think there's a software problem (as I know, never happened for this) so wipes are not necessary.

More the charge gets fast, more the battery gets hot especially if using the phone for something else while charging. In the summer, when the hoter outside temps gets the battery even more hot then it normally should be , to protect the battery (because it might even explode if to hot) in these cases software slows down charging. This happens for all models and even if it's true that cables often get broken slowing down chargings, a lot of people change unnecessarily there cables in these periods because don't know about the temp protection...
This is not a rule for the summer, but for everytime the battery gets hoter then an established temp so, it might happen even in winter if necessary .

Good thing doing this even for another reason : since having my phone, I used fast charge only a couple of times because I needed the extra speed for not having anough time to do the normal one. This because fast charge stresses the battery a lot so it's durability drammactly goes down if using it for every day charging and you will replace it sooner compared to using it after using only the normal charging for everyday usage . Sorry, but I don't agree... Don't think it's not good or worst than others because note 9's fast charge is coming out from the other previous models (S9, S8 ecc) and like for them, used when necessary is the best thing to do for having a long life battery and I'm also convinced that it's meant to be used when necessary.
If this problem occurred after update?
