Use bigger widget size from the desktop visualizer app...
thanx for your reply.
I finally know how to do it. i never knew you had to hard press and then add the bigger size widget first to the homescreen and then add the icon. however i noticed it does not work with all launchers. I was trying to do it with nova launcher as its the smoothest on my note. go launcher it seems to work with but its not as fast as nova launcher. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
cheers

Me having way too much time on my hands. Fully working and fully customizable widgets. Widgets layed out to mimic WP7. This is Running Launcher Pro Plus. NOT A ROM. Stock 2.1 w/update fascy Bloatware removed.
Watch it in action!

Very nice.
I was thinking about creating one for myself.
Would you mind telling me how to create these custom widget for Launcher Pro Plus?
I think I saw it somewhere else in xda but couldn't find it.
a sort of step-by-step instruction would be nice
Thanks in advance.
There is a very detailed post in the general android forums. Its called android phone 7.

Here's what I did, I didn't read any other forum on how to do this. I just wanted it so I just basically did it how I would do it.
First, get launcher pro plus. You need LPplus so you can resize widgets. Hide your notification tray, empty out the bottom dock.
I'm using "Desktop Visualizer" on my Android phone. Check it out here: http://whatsonyourandroid.appspot.com/details?p=jp.co.bii.android.app.dskvzr
Download desktop visualizer from market. Then download icons from google images. Then just add the DV widget like normal. It will instruct you which app to use, super easy. Then just resize everything like you want it. Then repeat.
Did you not have any problems with Desktop Vis slowing down your phone? On my Droid OC'd to 1,000 it made my screens super laggy having around 16 widgets total.

Thanks a lot for your instruction.
I'll give it a shot.
Thanks.
Maybe slightly work on the wording fitting into the icons instead of floating. I have the original set on mine for the past week and love it. Was working on new icons myself haha.

Can get a screen shot of yours. It was very difficult to even come close with the wording. Resizing the widget also resizes the position of the words. Couldn't figure out the right rhythm.
That is freakin dope! I might try to do something this weekend..

I have mine posted in the screen shot topic. Best way to use those icons is with Desktop Vizualizer and run LPP.

Yea I saw your theme and that inspired me to do mine. I sent you a private message a week ago, about how you did yours, no response. So I had to do it a way I only knew how to. Using the desktop visualizer, a very rough way making custom icons.

Yep. Launcher Pro + DV + GIMP + Sick Day. lol.
I like the concept, but not the Win7 icons that are out there. I will probably take the time to fit everything better size wise later, but this was fun.
How did you get more control of the title icons. Using DV I didn't have much options with the resizing of the title.

put the title in the image you create.
The image and the title move dependent with each other using DV. I'm sorry im not understanding. Its very tricky cause the title and image are preset its just manipulating the size.

I didn't use the titles in DV. I built them into the images.

Ohhhh gotcha! thanks
hey all,
I am running the tiamat hammerhead rom... I like it but right now there are not too many great themes for the xoom. A few color changing ones and the touchwiz port which i did like, but im down for something more. The best way to go about this short of doing my own theme is to get a good home launcher and use some custom animations and icon packs...
Here is the rub.. A lot of the home launchers are too phone-ish.. If that makes sense. Any suggestions? I was partial to ADW ex launcher but i looove the stock launching set-up. I mostly would like to maybe change animations, speeds, etc, but most importantly use icon packs. Any ideas for me or suggestions on good launchers with a stock home screen feel? I dont want my xoom to have a home screen like a giant phone lol
I just stick to stock until someone makes a launcher for honeycomb

Lol i guess that will be the case. No one has any advice...
I would recommend ADW EX, but since it hasn't been updated in 3 months and isn't fully compatible with 3.2...
Yeah adw ex doesn't work well with 3.2 at the moment. I believe the older adw (non ex) works but u gotta find an .apk for that

Not true, imo, ADW EX works great, so smooth with my config and I like having 6 screens. ADW settings is mostly disabled, meaning I can't change the size of icons, basically. But everything else works really well.

Yeah thy made a 3.2 compatible version today... Still not all the way there in my opinion and quirky as anderweb releases tend to be at first until they find all the bugs. Props to them for the effort but i am still not sold. Gonna have to just try the stargate theme coming out soon! Which looks badass!
Crazy fast and smooth, light weight. could use a couple of more options, but thought Id let you guys know if you were looking for a new launcher, its good.
Is this in the market?
Yeah, its awesome!
yup in the market
Running it now, prolly the best launcher I've ever used

between this and the arc launcher.
Thanks for the heads up on this launcher...very nice!
I like it, and I really like how icon press highlight isn't a gigantic box.
Sweet launcher!

I love it. It's definitely fast, and I like how you can change the app drawer to scroll vertically instead of having to swipe side to side.
meh. The icons changing grey while scrolling in the app drawer is annoying. Dock is fugly and can't edit it to 3 (without plus signs) or disable all together. Built in task manager doesn't show all "running" apps so that's pointless. Just lacks the in depth options that adw ex has that I like. Might check it out again after 7 updates .
good day.
went back to ics 4.0... too many wake locks.
Did anybody else notice that if you swipe up on the dock in the home screen it flips up to show a lock button and settings button? The lock locks out your apps you have set with a password in the launcher settings,i thought this was cool

Really like the Suave HD Icons that I was using on MIUI but now that I am using CM9 I am wondering how difficult this is.
I looked a the numerous theme tutorials and it seems to get really in depth and complicated. I don't want to theme everything... I just want the icons.
Here is the link to the SuaveHD thread. Maybe someone could be kind to either explain how it's done? If it's too complicated? Or maybe just make it.

Download a pack for your launcher and use it. Else, hold the icon on home screen and click on edit, manually select the icon.

If you are using apex launcher...
tap and hold the desired icon...
touch edit..
tap the icon and touch select picture.
now you can select and icon from gallery.
I'm using Teamhacksung's CM9 build 14 and I think it uses the trebuchet launcher? Sorry, I'm still new to CM9 since I came from MIUI.
I'll have to look into that launcher. Is there performance degredation from using different launchers? I don't quite understand that part yet... all I know is that I installed the MIHome launcher and it really wasn't that great since it was mix-matching a lot of stuff.

Just download apex or nova launcher. Whichever suits you. Download an icon pack for it and then in settings of the launcher, select the icon pack under theme menu.

Guys, y'all should check out this launcher "Buzz Launcher". By far my favorite Launcher now. It is nasty. Im taking different (Homepacks) widgets and other icons from different packs and making my own. Check out what I did last night below as well as a link for you guys. Let me know what you think. Love this launcher !!!!!! APP LINK >https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buzzpia.aqua.launcher&hl=en
Trying this out now. Any idea of a lock screen replacement that goes well with this?

Not a big fan of buzz, I really like Nova.
MIUI has a lockscreen replacement, no root needed. Check it out.
We Have Root !!!
I've been using Buzz for a while and I love it. Nova is great, and if you have the time to do all the UCCW customization you can recreate almost everything in Buzz, but it's just crazy easy using Buzz.
However, Themer is better and what I'm using now.
I like Themer too!!! It's great. I also like Nova, I have the prime. Go launcher would be nice (its updated) prime but they have to many apps they want you to download for it. LOL an app with bloatware. A ton ---- Buzz is cool, I uploaded a couple of home screens and got some downloads.
