I had a S i9000 with a cracked screen. I have replaced the screen and since I put the bits together the phone no longer switches on
If I place in the battery charger the battery appears on the screen and chargers normally but when I try to switch the phone on nothing happens.
Could please somebody give me any suggestions?
Is there any alternative way to switch on the phone?
Thank you
This may seem obvious but leave it on charge for 30 mins unplug then try turning on

Well........ Just keep charging for 1 -2 hours. do not try to switch on the device. if it doesn't help, try with different charger.

Just plug it in for 1 hour then try reebooting
I had this problem. What it was for me was the micro usb dock on the phone was bent downwards and out of place. To fix it I put in the cable and bent it back. I do not exactly recommend it but it was a quick fix for me.

I have a T849 which I updated a long time ago to 2.3.3 using Team Overcome 4.0.0 build.
Yesterday, when turning it off I accidentally clicked on "Download" putting it into download mode!
So, I just left it like that hoping it would sort itself out.
I made sure to leave it plugged in.
Now it won't come on.
Is it dead or can I save it?
Don't know why you didn't just reboot after that accidental download mode.
By leaving it like that you have drained the battery without the kernel help to shut down when battery low.
This is Li Ion battery, it is bad to drain it like that.
Now just try to charge it for 8hrs.
If still bad, you may need new battery.

I tried to but it wouldn't do anything.
The power button simply did nothing.
I left it plugged into the power so it shouldn't have discharged.
I've plugged it in again but the charge light hasn't come on and it has not indicted that it is charging.
I'll leave it plugged in and pray.
I don't think it charges in download mode anyway even if it is plugged to charger.
Unplug and hold power for 10 seconds to ensure shutdown.
Then charge.
Worst case just buy tri-blade screwdriver from ebay and a new battery (for P1000, if you search for T849 it may be in vain).
Probably less than $50

Seems to have worked!
It is now charging so hopefully I'll be able to use it again in the morning.
Yesterday my phone shutted because my battery, I connected to my car and charged a while, I got out from charging and using 2-3 minutes more and battery died again. When I got home I connected it to AC power and powered on, It was working without problem. I left my phone maybe 1 hour charging and when I took it again it was dead: screen dead, no life signal, just the led blinking slowly when connected to power (either AC and USB)...tried to take off battery but nothing. Today I connected it to PC and windows has recognized it but cannot identify it (on the PC the classic USB device not recognized error with yellow triangle on top) and the led is always blinking.
Any idea? should I have to buy a new phone?
thanks
Sounds like your battery is dead. Try replacing your battery

Try Running some POST tests. As in, Power off your device and wait for few seconds. Then Press and hold your power key and your volume down key. You should be able to access your Bootloader. (If you have Rooted your device, you could access your recovery and clear the battery stats although your device's condition seems peculiar/critical). Its worth a shot If you ask me.
I have already tried it but nothing, cleared dalvik and battery stats..I cannot understand whats going on. Now phone is working again but it cannot maintain battery, I mean I kept it in charge all the night but when I power on the phone it shuts down just when it starts android (thats strange because I went to a store yestarday and tried a new battery but it didn't worked, when got home I tried to power on it again and it started)...this is driving me crazy!!
edit: I turned it on, plugged in AC charger and phone after some minutes told me that (I don't remember the exact message) power needed by the phone is more than the charger could provide...
edit2: now it is on and it is charging (USB) and it doesn't charge more than 21%...really strange
Odd that this hasn't been mentioned but perhaps try a different usb cable? Different port? Seems obvious but you never know. Cables can deteriorate.

What do you think about?
Hi !
So my nexus 7 is not charging anymore... 3 days ago I took it outside ( it was -20°C in Montreal) and tried to use it but it did not start ( I think the battery went off because of the cold).
When I went back home I plugged it to the AC charger but nothing happened. I checked on several forums ans finally succeeded in booting the tablet. But the as soon as the tablet is on, it displays the message that the tablet is shutting down. I can see that the battery is empty and it is like the tablet is not plugged to the charger(the icon displays a red exclamation point instead of the charging indicator)
When the tablet is off and I plugged it to the charger it displays the charging icon for a 10 seconds and then it disappears. During those few seconds I can launch the boot loader. I tryed to shut it down, de plug and re plug the charger. The charging icon appears and then disappears again after a few...
Any advice on this one ? I don't think the tablet is totally dead but I don't find the way to make it charge again.
Thanks a lot,
Guillaume

Does the charger get warm at all when you plug it in? Not that that's necessary but curious. Try charging on a different charger. Perhaps a local BB or similar would let you try plugging in in lieu of buying one. But trying a different charger/cord would be my first step.
Usually it's heat and not cold that devices hate.
HTH
Have you plugged it into a computer and left it that way for a few hours?
Did you tried pressing Power button for 30 seconds ?? It worked for some people, I was not even able to turn on my nexus 7 when its reached to my hands, i was so unlucky, today i given it to Asus service centre as its has international warranty, i lives in india & bought from US, they working on it,hoping for best.
You might have to take the back off and check the battery connector, some people have had them come loose.

These things are freezer tested and they work. Worst comes to absolute worst complete battery replacement is not that difficult if you are out of warranty. I remember reading that in the disassembly notes.

Since I got Xperia T updated to Android 4.3 I have been through problems. The problem now is that the phone can't be charged when it is turned off and I got my battery completely drained resulting in a dead phone that can't either get charged or turn on, only blinking red LED when power button is pressed. I have tried many methods like putting it on charge over night and even 24 hours, putting the tape on power button while charging (it turns on though but as soon as it pass the boot animation the battery looses its charge and it turn itself off and this keeps happening). Now I'm really wondering if someone here had faced such problem and was able to work it out so please share what you did.
I opened the phone, taking away the screw that you see when you open the Sim card and the memory card cover, unplugged the battery for about one minute then plugged it in again, and put back the screw, then charged. When it works, consider changing the firmware, for me I went back to 4.1
It is working great now.

thanks for the reply but isn't there any other way that requires no disassembly ?
