The default navigation application from google is not working. Is there any way to sync mapmyindia offline maps with google navigation or any other navigation software.?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1429126&highlight=google+maps
why waste money on map my India when you can use google navigation for free.. its not officially out try but the modded version from the above link will work fine, I am yet to find any bugs.
I use this often when I go to India. the map's got way more details than mmi .
I find the online maps a lot delaying . If only we could synchronize offline maps it would be much better. Any help regarding this ?

Well if you go to google maps settings, in the labs there is an option called precache map. So if you cache your route via wifi before your journey the maps will load fast and you won't lose precious mobile data.
So what do you say ?
google navigation is fantastic the rerouting feature works like a charm
And outside the cities mapmyindia hardly has any coverage
Pls give it a try and I am sure you won't go back to mapmyindia.
(unless of course you are an undercover map my India employee here for info )
If you want offline navigation
Sygic is working fine. on both gingerbread and ICS.
Navigon, Ndrive and Map my india also working fine on Gingerbread, but didn,t tried on ICS. (I always prefer google and sometime Sygic)
Im going off on a long toad trip tomorrow. Will check and post back comments. Thanks again for help.
Note : was using sygic for bada and hence was asking bout it. ;-);-)

I really need an app that can corporate with google maps online.
I need to be able to MARK a position, and give it a description. And then have it store in MY MAPS in my google maps profile.
Have anyone come across such an app ?
My Maps Editor by Google
its free in the market!
Wont start, CM 6.1 RC1
use google maps on the phone
if i need to mark a location i just star it on the map and come back to it later on the desktop. if on the desktop i star it then go to the phone and hit menu and starred places. or go to layers > more layers > mymaps on the phone
you just cant give a starred place a description on the phone

In a pinch, you could use the "Share" functionality to send yourself an email with the map link and annotate it there. But if you do find an app that does exactly what you describe, please report back here.
I have postet a logcat for The error with my maps editor. But i guess this app is yet to come :-\

Have you tried my tracks from google? sounds like something I was trying a while back and my tracks worked well for me.
Makes me record a track and not a specific location :-\ but nice app

yes, but you can mark waypoints and upload them to your google maps.
Not my goal :-\ but thanks anyway

Did a full install of the Gingerbread overcome rom. Its absolutely phenomenal. Only one issue, GPS works, google maps work, but Google Navigation will not locate, just sits at waiting for location, same with my weather app. Anyone else have this issue and how do I fix it. I did the GPS fix to see that would help but didnt. Ran tests and satellites pop up just fine. Again, Google maps finds my location fine, but google navigation app wont.
Figured it out. Thanks
So you had problem and found the solution. But youll keep it for yourself. Great. Keep it this way and xda forums will eventually die . ;-)

Was the solution to walk outside?
hello,
i was woundering witch is the best navigation system for my phone.
I tried navigon but this app keeps crashing. Is there a free good working navigation app for my phone ?
I prfer no ineternet connection only gps
Tnx
I can't think of any free offline navigation program right now.
But I love Sygic.
Perhaps I think Google maps is the best, furthermore, nw Google maps support cached maps, you're able to load the maps and save it first for yr offline navigation

I have tried
Sygic (Aura) - still the best but better use with bluetooth gps if driving
Copilot - better accuracy but interface and controls are not so fun.
Waze - it is fun if you have lost of friends with smartphones around
Google Nav - is nice then you are walking (but not even comparable to Sygic as it is superb for visiting new places). Anyway I use google maps for informational purposes only.
Navigon - once tried but deleted very quickly - did not find its place between copilot and Sygic
Navfree - not worth even downloading
you could give Igo a shot.
Sygic wins, no need for external gps. I'm a delivery driver and use this on my phone all day, no problems. I use to get drop outs on Cyanogenmod.

There's a particular detail about this, in the Google blog:
"This download stores only the base map tiles and the landmarks on the map, so you still need a data connection to see satellite view and 3D buildings, search for Places and get directions."

+1 for Igo
+10 for Igo
Speedcams
Somebody know how to convert igo speedcams for android. Maybe provide a converter for win7 x64? thanks!

Use Navigon MobileNavigator Europe v4.0.1, probably you have tried with version 4.0.0. For 4.0.1 you don't need internet connection or rooted phone.
On my DHD i have: Navigon 4.0.1, iGO MyWay v8.4.3.179971, Sygic GPS Navigation v11.2.5 and CoPilot Live Europe Full v 9.1.0.161 only for rooted phones and all works without a problem.
IGO working 100 % .
I am using both Sygic and iGo... both work perfect in my DHD.
In Malaysia the best would be Papago X8, got every details on even the most remote area here.

google navigation
I like navigon, got it free with my phone and brings me where I want to go!
I live in EU and before I rooted my DHD, I bought premium navigation which comes with phone. Travelled to Eastern Europe, London and Croatia (ex Yugoslavian country) and it guide me perfetcly. Thanks to this navigation which I still do not know the name of the application, and thanks to social networks, I drove directly to my internet's friend's house on numerous occasions.

I would ask you If anyone knows how is this stock HTC navigation called. Which firm is behind it? In App drawer it is called just "Locations."
So when I rooted my phone I stick to ROMs which are "derivates" to stock DHD roms. Like ARHD.
If anyone of you could tell me which navigation it is I would be immensely happy.
After locating myself on google map, there is no blue arrowhead representing my location. Only a blue dot appears. With other programs, I ve found that the compass of my device is working properly.
P.S: I am using 2.3.4 and Google map is the latest version
Any opinions about what happens?
Yea u r right but when u move the arrow will appear.... i faced it too when i was driving my car....

did u have the same problem before? compass used to appear immediately even i was standing still. it would be very troublesome now.(i have not yet tried whether the arrow will really appear again!)
No i dint had that prob before... i feel its bcz of new update of map maybe....

I'm having the same issue, since i installed Google Maps 6 or something. In other programs compass works fine. In Google Maps v. 5.2 or something compass also works fine.
P.S. Now on 20n with Google Maps 6.3 - and still no luck with that.
Of course arrow appears when you move with GPS fixed to the satellites. It just draws vector from your previous location to current location. Compass is another thing - it shows your heading immediately, without GPS fix and even when you stand still.
i am so frustrated now....
anyone know how to report this problem to Google map? i ve done so on feedback on android market and google map forum. but seems, they dont care
besides, no one else has come across this problem? it seems no others have talked about this in the internet
I had same problem with google maps v6. So I downgrade the app to v5.12.0 and the blue arrow is back
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk
Also, as a workaround, installing google maps [brut] 4.6 worked for me (as I was unable to remove/downgrade stock maps from unrooted phone)
Same bug with V20E Vietnam (tested google map v6 and 6.5 stock and 6.5 ownhere)
I think kernel stock LG bug !!!!
Someone test with rom CM7....it can working???
hello guys my google navigation isn't working its waiting for location all the day
why??
Already tried this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494862
i have no root
Try "gps test" from google play. Go outdoor start gps, turn off internet access, start the app and wait until 30 min, if the can’t get satellites and fix them after 30 you have a hardware problem. In other case all is OK
Notice that sygic works normally

Search for another version of Gmaps in google, an instalable .apk
Also google maps gets my location perfectly but only navigation
Navigation is a part of Maps!
So how to download it??
**I had old lg one also wasn't work but the message is different "Not enabled in your country"
Just search in google for "Google Maps 6.3.0 Apk", or "Google Maps v5.12.0" or what you want.
http://www.apktops.com/google-maps-6-3-0-worldwide-navigation-activated.html
I found this but Application not installed I don't have root
What is the solution??
Normaly there is no need to be root, it's signed. Have you try to install it?
I have a Optimus black, an no problem with maps and navigator. I have the actual Map 6.7.0. The only issue, is that the compass don't work in maps. The compass works in 5.x versions.
Just try you can't destroy nothing.
Regards.
I tried
it told me app not installed
May it cuz my location??
Try this: http://www.mediafire.com/?ah6v4zd4gtdo542
This works 100% in my rooted.
My phone not rooted
How I have said, this in normaly no matter. If this doesn't work it's a matter.

installed successfully
I will try to use navigation now
only google nav has problems here
hi there,
Do you recognize this?
Google Navigation constantly looses its gps fix, almost at every turn.
Other navigation software like NavFree has no problem at all.
It is almost as if Google Navigation resets the GPS sensor when it is too slow to keep up (not driving too fast though).
Any ideas?
why do you want so badly google maps??? if sygic works for you its a very good navigation program. also google maps need gprs connection to work charging you instead of sygic that it's maps are on the phone.
