Sorry for the probably stupid question, but I don't seem to be able to get the AccuWeather Widget on the lock screen to update the location. It keeps showing the same city, even when I am hundreds of miles away. I turned on the GPS, rebooted, enabled/disabled weather on lock screen, etc... Anybody have any ideas?
The phone is not rooted and has a stock ICS ROM.

Anybody?
click on the widget and it opens a dialog where you need to search for your city. After choosing it you'll get the weather updates
Thanks, but it still shows the same city, even though I am almost 400 miles away.
I'm in Vienna, Austria and it shows Gaudenzdorf.
Widget works ok. The only problem is location on lock screen.
I think it's a bug.

How often does everyones weather update, mine goes for days without updating unless I click the update button.....
Cheers
It won't update automatically unless you tell it to....supposedly
You need to tap on the city name at the top of the plugin, then when the city list is displayed, tap on Menu | Weather Options and make sure the "Download weather data automatically" is checked.
That's the theory at least - mine is ticked and like you, I have to tap on the weather panel on the home screen to get the damn thing to update
There is another option - "Download when roaming", but I've not ticked that box....might be worth a try?
Cheers,
Mark.

Download HTC HOME,
Look at disfanto's cab collection for the hermes. All of them pretty much works on the kaiser, and for more on how to put your own city into the weather database use the search button, since im to lazy too.
Thanks all for the help.... didnt even notice the options menu in the city select.......
I'm using the HTC Flip Clock widget and it automatically updates my location. It was working fine last night and now its not. I'm right now in Woodridge, IL and my flip clock still shows Matteson, IL weather. I know it's not that big of a difference in weather based on 30-35 miles, but I just want it to sync to the correct location. Under "My Location sources", I have use wireless networks and enable gps satellites selected. If this was a pre-existing hero rom issue, please forgive me. I didn't find anything when I searched. Any positive feedback would be greatly appreciated.
why dont you try refreshing it and if that doesnt work then just delete the widgt and then add it again.

open up the main weather app, check the setting, and hit refresh. If its not working than I would say whatever ROM you have has issues with the weather app.
With my flip clock, it doesnt update unless i manually do it. On the next page, i put a full-screen weather widget and hit the update bar at the bottom of the weather widget. this in turn will update the flip clock.
Hi,
Yet another strange thing I am having. For setting the weather location in LG's home clock/weather widget I select "current location". Can it really be tru that it does not update likek the HTC weather? I can't use a weather report based on eg. my home address when I travel 100 km for work!

Seems to be a problem, yes because there is no proper configuration...
It's a great widget but it also updates (refreshes) very slowly and this can not be adjusted.
You travel 100km for work!
I also had a problem with changing my location.
The solution was de-install and install the widget again.
Then you can change the temp, location, time whene to update etc..

You can get the that screen after hitting the weather picture on the icon then menu then settings... but it's doesn't have a "follow me" or "update frequency" option as far as I can tell.

Yeah, 104 KM to be exact. Each way...but its 7 days on/off.
your not exactly de-installing it you remove the widget from your screen. hold it and then drag it to the bin. Then you put the widget back.

I have tried this several times but it does still not give me as much options as You state. No update freq. change! And still it does not update on current location unless I manually click inside the widget.
I also just bought the phone so the method is a bit extencive.
what you can do is push on the widget so that if wil onfold.
Then press on the left button next to the home button.
and press options.
You than can change the temp. as in fahrenheit or celcius.
You can also ad multiple locations.
You can't do anything about the auto update.
Use Fancy Widget, there is a fee version on marked works very nice.
Its pitty. This widget is really beautifull, even with animations. Only think which I am missing is refresh rate setting :-( I hope that this can be solved in near future...
yap, the widget its beautiful, can anyone has a fixed in this one, i'm from New Zealand, Daylight saving just began, but the clock of the widget still the same. the actual clock is different to the clock of the widget, even the update is at the button of the widget +1 hour . see picture. thanks
So just wondering if anyone has any thoughts as to why out of no where my weather widget and unlock screen have started to not show the weather. It's happening kind of consistently... Any thoughts?

Try manually refreshing the weather by tapping on the widget and pressing menu.
Yeah I do that when I unlock it but when just hitting the unlock button to see the temp on the lock screen its showing no weather available... Major annoyance

Getting that too. I think it happened once when I drove outside city limits so the 4g changed my location and didnt update the weather settings. Weather settings for me only refreshes when I tap the weather icon, otherwise, it just stays the same on the lock screen hahah xP
Weather on clock not updating.
I have the weather app set to update hourly and to update when opened. However, whenever I wake the Vivid, the weather does not update unless I tap the weather and go to the full weather app. There I have to manually update the qweather. On my old HTC HD2, I rarely had this problem. It normally updated.
At work, I normally keep WiFi on. I now wonder if the WiFi interfers with or stops the radio connection and if the radio connection is needed for weather updates.
I have no problems with the weather lockscreen widget. I transfer often between Wi-Fi and 3g (or 4g as the phone says) daily.
I used to have this problem. I went to setting to enable weather sync. Problem solved.
Last night we switched to DST (East coast US), now the standard Samsung Weather widget shows the wrong time. Phone system time is correctly auto - updated.
Anyone has an idea how to get correct time in weather widget?

I'm having the same problem on both my Note 8 & my S8+. Both are running beta releases of Oreo.
What version of android are you on?
delete widget and then readd it. and or click on the small arrow circle logo to update it. mine is ok now.
My wife's S8 and my Note 8 are doing the same. I assume it's a bug on Samsung's end.....

I tried this before and just tried again and it's still incorrect.
Same here sh***y app design.

Of course I tried all delete-reinstall-update-etc possibilities, no dice..
Guess it will remain this way until Europe switches to DST in two weeks...
I have the same exact problem on my Note 8. It shows the correct updated time though, on the bottom right corner of the widget, but not the big clock. Also when I tried reinserting the widget, it's showing correct clock on the widget preview. But when I apply it, still shows an hour begind.

I tend to agree but on the the other hand, at the core this wouldn't be an issue if the stupid and unnecessary time change would be a thing of the past already. it causes more headaches and issues than it acctualy solves. less than 40% of the countries world wide use DST. it is a testament that it is useless and the world keeps on spinning without it.
its 2018. can we all act like it?
Hahaha I was just having the same issue and this is the first thread I see, gotta love XDA. It's weird because if you clear data/cache the time will be the correct time but if you add your current city it throws it back 1 hour, very odd. Also rebooting the device doesn't help. I said screw it and just started using the 2x3 weather widget instead of the 5x1 weather and clock.

ye ah screw it. Try FU weather
40 hours later and it seems to be fixed. Too many close calls today looking at it and thinking that's the time.
Proper way to fix this is to long press the app widget and go into app info. Force stop. Then Tap storage and clear cache and data. Close everything and do this one more time. Come back and you'll be good to go after you tap the widget to set your city. If you only do this one time it seems to remember something in the cache somewhere.
