Restoring Stock Factory Settings. - LG Revolution

I am having quite a few issues with my phone running slower then a Ferrari with no engine lol everything lags horribly bad. Even just opening my contact list takes a couple minutes before it opens. And just trying to type a text or typing this post right now takes so long cause the keyboard lags out so bad and can't keep up with the speed I type like it usually has no problem doing.
So I was hoping someone could give me detailed, step by step instructions or a guide, to restore your phone back to unrooted stock, just came out of the box, settings. I wanna completely restart my phone. But I don't know how to go about doing that. I've done it with my last two Android phones. Which were a Droid X and before that a Droid 2 Global. But I was told that the process for Motorola phones, which you just use RSDlite and its pretty easy but like I said. I was told that RSDlite only works with motorola phones. So if someone could help me do this. It would be very much appreciated.
I already restored my nandroid back up I made before flashing the last rom I was using. So I am just using the stock ZV7 LG rom but its rooted. I also wanna be able to do the process of keeping my phone rooted and still be able to go to the new ZV8 version. My phone keep trying to update everyday but obviously it wont work cause I am rooted and plus I don't want to stuck and unable to root my phone amd flash tols and what not. Which last time I checked no one has figured out how to just straight root the new ZV8 version. You have to do that process that just lets you keep rooted and still update. Which hopefully someone will figure out how to just root ZV8 itself.
Anyways, like I said, if someone could help me completely restart my phone and start fresh as if it just came out of the box for the first time. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

ZV9 ? I thought it was ZV8 was the latest update. Cause I am on ZV7 which was the update before the latest one, at least as far as I know. I am pretty sure I am on ZV7 and ZV8 was the latest. Have they come out with another update recently ? cause last time I Checked about 4 or 5months ago, ZV8 was the one that just came out.

It is really easy. Flash the v8 TOT. Upgrade to v9, do a factory reset and bam out of box v9. You can then root and what ever else (re-install apps)

okay, it's not that easy. I'm a noobie. I flashed the v8 tot, and I know it worked since in phone info, it changed from v4 straight to v8. BUT, for some reason, superuser and my old apps were still in the phone on the v8.
I went to check new software... nothing. V9 was a no go. What did I do wrong? I flashed it properly.
ALSO!!! HOW THE HECK DO I GET CLOCKWORK MANAGER IN V8 AND HOW DO I REBOOT INTO IT. help

Zv4 to zv7 update discussion

I thought I might open this up since I didn't see it anywhere. Anyway, ill start with my side.
I was on revolt 1.5 (big thanks mtm) and had a haphazard way of getting to zv7. Anyway, I restored stock without wiping, both system and boot.img from thecubeds original factory band, started up fine. Then used revotoolkit to restore stock recovery, downloaded the update and updated sucessfully. I then rooted with the esteem method, free and clear, and restored, among other things, my apps with data that I backed up in ti. Everything was generally fine, with minor hiccups from restoring app data so just manually wiped data from problem apps one by one. After that, gingervolt had come out and I figured that if I flash it over my current setup, worse case scenario I go back and wipe data and install from scratch. But, as luck had it, after taking awhile to rebuild the dalvik cache, everything was fine and dandy.
So how did yours go? Any stories or experiences? Thought this would be good for general discussion and as insight for everyone.

yes tell all as I have heard going right from v4 to v7 was a no go.
You beat me to the punch...I was on Revolt 1.5 and loving it but I want GB. So I downgraded to the stock rooted nandroid backup found here. I went to settings> about phone> software update and...nothing. I tried a few times, I waited for awhile and nothing. I then flashed the z4 tot file, nothing, I updated the z6 file and rooted that and nothing (see a pattern?) I am currently running the Z6 rooted file.
Any help would be appriciated. By the way mtmichaelson you are the man.
I think we are all in the same boat Verizon hasn't uploaded the update to the servers we can download from for now I'm staying stock rooted with stock recovery until they push the update to me so that i can install it when it gets here basically the only thing we can do is wait

My impressions
I was patient and stuck with a CWM/rooted stock V4 ROM.
I uses MT's ROM stock and followed instructions and upgraded through OTA to GB without a hitch. I also erased the internal SD to remove any gremlins from past experimentation.
I used his root zip and it when without a hitch except for the CWM recovery not sticking after reboot.
I notice that the audio output is louder, not one single crash or forced close, faster 4G and GPS, and faster charging. I plan to wait to see how the custom ROMs perform before flashing it and hopefully the CWM issue will be resolved soon.
We all need to thank everyone who has made this possible!
Just curious, what part of the country are you guys in that can't get the update?
I can't get the update and I'm in central California.

As far as secrets, I cant think of many hidden things I did. A little more detailed though, I had revolt 1.5, backed up everything, and didnt wipe any data.
I went to cwr, made a nand backup, and without wiping anything went straight to flash thecubed's root nandroid rip with advanced restore, with the stock system.img and boot.img, and that booted fine.
Then in android, I used revotoolkit to flash the stock recovery, and I think its this step that at least partially 'allows' the update. I guess something where it checks what is installed to check if there's an update.
Then I got the update prompt for zv6, and it updated fine, although it wasnt rooted afterward. Shortly after, I got another update and it updated to zv7 and 2.3.4, still unrooted. Although my apps were still there, some had issues from remnants of data from froyo, like force closes. So I manually, selectively deleted data in 'manage apps' as I found problem apps.
Then I used the esteem root to root it, and after finding the working, updated one it went fine.
After that, gingervolt came out, and although it was warned to wipe data strenuously before switching, I figured that if I at least made a nandroid before flashing anything, then the worst case scenario if flashing gingervolt over stock gb turned out to fail, I could either wipe data anyway and reflash like normal, or by some crazy chance it'd work, and I just got lucky when it worked. It just took a good 5-7 minutes to boot I presume because it has to rebuild the dalvik cache (based on what/how many apps you have?) and here we are. I hope this explains more so others may have success stories.

It may have to do, like I put above, with putting stock recovery + boot + system.img from stock zv4. Try that if you can and report the results if it deems beneficial.

And I completely have to agree haha. After updating and rooting, I got instant gps lock, have yet to have any fc's or reboot besides the usual routines, and I know Ill have to post a ss to prove it but I was able to get consistent 20-30mbps down with a single 42mbps down speedtest on the speedtest.net app, when before even on a great day it would peak at 16mbps. Loving gingerbread, especially since (coming from a droid) its on a phone meant to handle gb. Afaik, gb's mem manager was more built for 512mb+ (correct me if Im wrong), although it manages everything so much better. As good as gb is on my OG droid, there are a good # of screen redraws lol.
I started from Revolt 1.5. I made a NAND banckup, then got rid of CWM with RevoToolKit. Flashed the v6 tot file with LGNPST, updated to GB OTA, then rooted with mt's script. All-in-all it was pretty painless. I didn't do a data/cache wipe until I went to put on Gingervolt.

Odd. On Halloween, in Cerritos, I reverted to stock and got immediate zv6 upgrade download without even going to settings. zv7 came automatically too.
The only thing I can think of is my phone has never been on vz6 before. Are the people who are having trouble ones who downgraded from zv6 to 4 and then rooted?

[Q] Can't unroot

I used Super One Click to root my phone a few months ago, only to remove most of the bloatware that came on the phone. My phone now keeps trying to update to the new software, usually only once every 24 hours, but the past week, a few days it has automatically tried updating several times throughout the day. Very frustrating.
Obviously it won't update being rooted. However, I removed the bloatware, so I don't care that it is rooted anymore. I figure I can unroot it and then get the update to work. However, using Super One Click again, it won't unroot. It gets the error "Device does not have Superuser!" I can then proceed to root it with SOC and have it be successful, and try again and get the same error. Any ideas?
And I guess, will unrooting allow me to successfully update it anyways? Thanks!
The phone should update if it is rooted. It will not update if you have CWM installed. You will also get all that lovely bloatware installed back during the update.
Your best bet is to get the lgpnst and v8 tot and update manually then root that and remove the bloatware again.
Thanks for the help. I'm very new to this, so I don't really know what you're talking about haha. I see some stuff on tot, but what is the lgpnst? If you could link to that and the v8 tot you are talking about and maybe how to use those, that would be great.

[Q] How do I go back to being completely stock?

Hi all, I'm a noob for the most part but managed to get my phone rooted with gingervolt but I am most likely going to be selling this phone on craigslist and don't want to sell it rooted. I can't seem to find out how to go back to 100% stock and I'm not quite sure what to do.
From my understanding I would need to use CWM to re install the stock firmware (which I can't find) and then unroot my phone using one of the many tools online (can't think of the names of them right now). But I tried something like that while a while back, I wish I remembered, but everytime my phone would try to do an Over The Air update it would boot back into CWM and just kill my battery when I would wake up in the morning.
So if ANYONE knows how and would be willing to help me, I will be so thankful.
PLEASE HELP
Thank you,
Jacob
The easiest way to go back to stock would be to use the .tot to v8 then you could even wait for v9 to download from OTA

I believe that all download links are still up for all the stuff you will need. If not ask and some one will either re upload or point you in the right direction on where to find them.

You'd be putting the phone completely back to how the zv8 version is. In short terms deleting everything on the phone then putting stock back on.

Use the tot and revert back to v8, update to v9 then, if you want that true out of box look, wipe your memory cards and do a factory reset. The phone will then be liike it just came out of the box.
The tot route is the easiest way to go completely stock and like the other guys said make sure to wipe the internal and the sd card before you sell your phone to wipe all traces of what has been done to the phone.
And don't be jealous of my tag. I just happened to be lucky enough to be on when Mt posted that he needed beta testers.

HELP! Reverting Back to stock

Alright short story I bought this phone off of craigslist about 2 weeks ago. Started having a problem with text not being sent or received so I called verizon and they said the phone had a manufacture warranty so they sent me a refurb phone. Well I had rooted my first phone so I needed to return it to stock to send back. I used the all in one to root the phone so I was going to use it to unroot it. Well it unrooted the phone but did not reinstall stock recovery. I knew it wouldn't do anything but I did a factory wipe on the phone which got me stuck in CWM. Did some searching on the fourms found a exit recovery.zip then I was trying to find out how to get stock recovery back on the phone and only thing I could find was to flash a .tot file with LGNPST. So my attemps started with that. I was using a windows 7 64bit computer and ran into all kinds of problems installing .dll's After finnaly getting them to work (or at least I thought I did) I flashed zv9 to the phone got 19% complete then a error popped up. I can't remember what it said though. device had the lg downloading data do not unplug screen. I had to unplug and pull battery. I then reinstalled LGNPST on a 32bit computer and started the whole process again. With a error again. Why is this such a hard process. Stayed up for 6 hours trying to get this phone back to stock. I have to have it done tonight to send back to verizon.

yes. Glad it worked for you. I have yet to get the v9 tot to flash. I just do the v8 and ota. Has never failed.
Yea worked like a champ! Now I got a new device and it doesn't seem like there is much modding as far as roms and what not for this phone. I came from the droid 3 only because it went in a pool with me. Im thinking about selling this and getting the galaxy s3. I have a problem with not retrieving mms messages and it is just a pain.
so even if im rooted and everything if i just flash v8 using the LG program, it'll revert me to stock?
and wipe everything right?

I know this breaks root, but is it possible to root again or do we have to find a new way to root. I only want to root for tethering and debloat. Verizon sucks when they load everything they can on top of a phone that has a lot of apps already installed on it.
Best to get a copy of it to the devs. If it works like the razr, you can d/l but not install it and pull the file from cache.
